The staff nerf is awful. I just spent 250 gold to create a Guardian for WvW and now I don’t see myself playing it anymore.
I mainly pug so I don’t care about squad composition. Why would I waste time trying to tag enemies with a weak 300 range weapon when I can just play a Necromancer or Revenant instead?

So in short terms, playing in WvW for you is not about teamwork and coordination and mainly having fun, but tagging everything to get your free loot?

EDIT: It really looks like most people in this thread forgot that Guardians can use Hammer.
1. AoE protection on third auto attack.
2. Blast finisher on 5s cd
3. AoE immobilize, not great but can do some stuff in corridor fights
4. Banish pretty much meme tool to get downed people out of support range of their group.
5. AoE wall, great to catch targets without stability.
Mace/Shield gives insane support to your group.

Hammer / Mace + Shield is getting even more popular with this change and it is really healthy for a WvW.
Lets be real, people only used staff as a empower tool but mainly as a “loot stick” with auto attack and easy (and pathetic at the same time) damage to get more loot bags.
Hammer / Mace + Shield gives your group so much more support, and crowd control. If any guard is now more alive then dead. Maybe people will finally start using other weapons that have great skills or even other classes like Condi Revenant, Healing Druid and Boon Chrono.
What you take as players hating WvW I see as players that love to play WvW, but see that it could be so much better. They’ve played it even though they face enemies with larger forces and have wanted a fix to population balance for years. They’ve played WvW knowing that there’s only a few builds on a select few classes, no medium armor allowed, and have wanted skill balance for years. They’ve gone through the HoT expansion and have seen the old vanilla classes/builds disappear. They’ve had to PvE grind in order to both unlock the new elite specs and the guild upgrades they already had. They’ve seen a map introduced that wasn’t as much fun to play on as the original two but have only seen small fixes that haven’t corrected the issues why most players avoid it. They’ve also gone through several years of small fixes because most of the resources are working on PvE content, even though WvW is supposed to be a “core” part of GW2.
WvW is still the best part of GW2 but it can be so much better, it SHOULD be better. I used to raid at least 5 times a week with my guild. I barely get on anymore. I’m starting not to miss it. I might buy the xpac, might not. I don’t have the motivation to spend all my time in PvE unlocking 9 elite specs or grinding for the newest OP armor stats just to go on a outnumbered WvW map.
In my post was talking only about players that keep coming into forums to do stuff like:
“Oh another thread about non existent changes in WvW. My time to shine!”
then make a post like:
“Hello everyone, WvW is dead, good bye have a nice day!”
This is sad and hilarious at the same time.
WvW is still the best part of GW2 but it can be so much better, it SHOULD be better.
I completely agree here. But as I said earlier it makes me angry that so many players in here instead of trying to make a reasonable discussion just hate on game mode which they love so much.
Reading this thread is like being in a club of masochists.
If you guys all hate WvW so much then maybe it is time to stop playing it and move on?
I’m playing WvW since launch on the same server forever (Piken ftw), it had its ups and downs but at the end there is still plenty of people playing and a lot of great commanders leading the charge. Of course it is not the same as a few years ago but you can still have a lot of fun in there.
The ones who keep saying “WvW is dead” most likely don’t even play it anymore because they think it is dead so it is not worth to go back to it.
By typing “WvW is dead” “Devs dont care about WvW” “We get nothing new for years” you are not contributing anything for this game mode. You only discourage other from looking into it and playing.
Maybe instead of whining around, post an actual ideas and propositions on what to do and where to improve?
This is making me sick that most (not all) of “true WvW players” who are posting in WvW forum section only thing they have to say is crying and lamenting how they are left out by devs and not getting cared about.
So if we we are going to think this way let’s do this on opposite side.
What about people who get INSANELY rich on leather cost changes? Should we TAKE back gold that they earned on predicting market changes? No.
It is the same about scribing cost changes. Should we GIVE back gold that they lost on NOT predicting market changes? No.
Of course you cannot predict everything in the game. But that’s how market works. Sometimes you loose sometimes you gain. Just deal with it.

WvW autloot fix – small fix but needed sooo much.
Dungeon rewards – great and the way they did it? Really cool!
TON OF small fixes to HoT maps – Farm time bois!

Also a lot of PvP and Fractal changes but since im not playing that game modes now i didnt read that.
I actually like the idea of adding a huge patch where they give us insane ammount of small fixes spread all around all game modes instead of focusing on one big project.
I actually came back after few months of brak from GW2 and was totally shocked they stil didnt fixed autoloot in WvW. To be honest it is most needed here. How many times have you been in situation, fighting in the middle of Lord’s Room then dying and looking at all the loot on the ground you did not pick up. Not even saying about Chest’s.
Yea I already made 100g just casualy playing mini games.
But my friend who is no-lifing an farming gifts 24/7 already made over 500g. Just a few days after Wintersday started.

I remember a situation i ha d afew days ago on spider farming.
I was doing with my two friends then some random dude joins and ruined our spawn timers. I said to him a couple times to join our party, that there is more than enough space for all of us. He wasnt answering. After 10 minutes of trying to show him that running together is much better option for everyone he finally joined our party.
One hour later we were making jokes and laughing together. He also apologize a couple times that he was so rude at the start. Literally i have never seen something like that in any other MMO
Ok maybe i said it the wrong way.
I’m talking here mainly about stats swapping. Since most of different build requires different stats and different runes/sigils.
The main think i want to say is that curently stats swapping is almost useless. Im not gonna change stats to Berserker on armor where i have Melandru runes (maybe it would have some usage but you know what i mean). Same the other way, I’m not gonna use armor with Krait/Trapper whatever runes with Berserker stats.
That’s what I’m trying to say. Besides cool looking skins legendary items are not very special compared to ascended.
What do you think guys about Legendary Runes/Sigils? Should they exist? I think they definitely should but only for legendary items. So you can’t put those runes in exotic gear for example.
To me the main reason is for the stat switching so to say it’s not an argument is silly.

I totally agree with you. Legendary items are mainly for stats switching for me too.
I’m saying it is not an argument because it is not really an option. It doesn’t matter if i can switch stats when I can’t switch my runes/sigils. For example I’m using Force/Strenght for my Bersereker and Cleansing/Water for my Nomad. So when i switch stats from Nomad to Berserker I end up with useless sigils
At the start of this topic. I think HoT is awesome, much fun and I enjoy playing it! But nothing is ideal so and HoT.
So can someone tell me why should we have legendary armors? You can switch stats on them you say. Ok that’s cool. But there we go with the same problem which we have in legendary weapons. Cant switch runes/sigils. Ok, ok we can. But seriously. Someone who want to play in all types of game PvE/PvP/WvW would have to pay hundreds of golds each weak on switching them.
Currently I’m using Dire, Berserker, Soldier, Knight, Rabid and Nomad equipment depending on what I want to do and where I want to play. Also working on adding Giver and Sinister stats to my collection. I’m using different runes/sigils in almost all of them. The only one when i have the same stuff are Soldier/Knight, Rabid/Sinister and Nomad/Giver.
So in short terms. I can have cool looking legendary armor/weapon and that’s all. Only thing why players are unlocking them is for skins. No once cares about stat changing because of the reasons i wrote earlier. Currently if you want to have a different stats on gear you have to get multiple copies of it anyway.
And the question is; WHY ANet didn’t think about adding LEGENDARY runes/sigils with this expansions? Or do we have to wait another year or two to get them in the next expansion?
If ANY dev will read this topic. It is not a BabyRage or crying about how bad expansions or legendary armor is. This topic is a simple asking;
-what other uses legendary items have right now other then applying their skins to our gear? Switching stats is not an a argument
-can we expect legendary runes/sigils in the future?
Can we at least get ANY clarification on this bug? Is someone taking care of it?
I have Verdant Brink 100% – no reward. Silverwastes and Dry Top also got new map rewards but players who got them on 100% before HoT did not recive their rewards.
Can someone say at least “We are working on it” “We are traking this problem”.

One possible idea is adding a section on lfg dedicated to hero challenges: the open world category is too cluttered in my opinion.

I actually understand your point but you have to look at this change from bigger perspective.
You were getting that difficulty and challenge by cost of A LOT of other players that dont want to play through harder content which is new HoT maps. These maps are not as casual as others. You cant just rush them with any gear, any stats, any build and get everything just by smashing auto attack key to be more than happy. Hard content should be always separated from normal content. It always should be something that you CAN do but DONT HAVE to. An additional game mode not required mode.
In this situation it was REQUIRED to play through content that some players may actually dont like. This is always bad to force players to play something instead of giving then a chance to play if they want.
So i pretty much got a crap load of experience to unlock Legendary Masteries just to read this thread…

Ah that times when I was watching live stream where Devs were excited about ADVENTURE, EXPLORING, FUN while doing precursor crafting. I had so much hope ill exchange time i would spend on grinding money on some really exciting traveling around Tyria. Of course i didnt expect it to be totally free but at least 50% discount in compare to TP.
And as we find out that adventure, exploring and fun is gonna be on Silverwastes.
Well defense line is waesome but as the name says it is defense. There is no offense traits in there. Of course you can get maximum value from using grandmasters Cleansing Ire or Rousing Resilience combo with Outrage. Also great synergy with mace.
But im not using anything else than Greatsword. In ultimate build you can even go GS/GS with some swap runes. The whole thing is about Arcing Slice. That AoE, that cast speed, that range THAT DMG!
Btw I’m talking about pure PvE content here. Trash clearing potential with GS now is total insanity.
Also I’m using Sigil of Stength (60% gain might on crit) with Forcefull Greatsword trait (gain might on crit with GS). In second slot i was using might on weapon swap sigil to get synergy with Versatile Power from Discipline (gain might on weapon swap again). But i realize if im hitting two enemies i can easily get 25 might stacks just by myself with hundred blades. So I changed my second sigil on Force (5% flat dmg). But i was also thinking about Accuracy.
If you want to be a little more supportive just change Discipline with Tactics for Phalanx Strength. Not only you will have perma 20+ might but ppl around you too!
I can see two obvious uses of Berserker right now.
GS + Axe/Axe – INSANITY with burst and damage
Mace/Mace + Hammer – INSANITY with controlling your enemy
Holy hell since when is the arc divider base dmg so high!? Skull Grinder hits pretty dam hard too and you can use them back to back thanks to outrage so u can actually stack aoe might. SHET HYPE!!!!
20% dmg increase from previous Burst + 25 stacks of might + Blood Reaction trait (14% precision to ferocity) + Burst Mastery grandmaster (7% more dmg from burst) + foe below 50% HP
And im pretty sure 14,7k isnt highest i can get. Need more luck with rolls and I bet it can be 16k+.
So screw condition berserker. Keep it up with name Berserker = Berserker gear

I have no idea why ppl are talking about conditions and Berserker over and over when there is ABSOLUTELY INSANE BURST POWER with Greatsword.
Entering Berserk mode
- gain quickness
- using Arcing Slice – gain 20% more dmg
- using Hundred Blades
- Arcing Slice (it should be easily filled again after blades)
- some auto attacks and Hundred Blades again
- Arcing Slice
Also you can use your Arcing Slice first and then turn on berserker while casting. It will use burst and berserk mode at the same time.

Or they could make ascended runes which are accountbound on use (so can be sold/ created). Unlike exotic runes, they slot in and out of gear, but because they are account bound on use, you won’t be able to sell them after you equip them.
And maybe later down the line legendary runes? Same as my ascended idea but the stats are changeable to any of the possible runes available. One step at a time I guess.
Yea i was thinking about that too. You could add runes to your account and then switch just like in PvP, from special tab in your Hero Panel. I think both ideas are great but yours with ascended would allow ppl to buy runes once and then forget about them since they have them unlocked.
My idea would keep prices similar to where they are now because you still have to buy rune for each armor on each character you have.
Have suggested this dozens of times since launch (especially after the transmutation/wardrobe change) and Devs have shown zero interest.

So i was thinking about it for a long long time and now i decided to share my idea with you guys.
How it works? Now you can have only one rune in your armor. Why not make it that you can have much more runes there? Lets say you have a chest with Trooper runes. If you want to add Melandru runes you can only replace them. But i think we should have option to ADD rune not REPLACE it. You will have then a list with runes inside that chest from which you choose what you actually need. Just like in PvP where you can switch runes. And we all know it is possible for ANet to do because you can actually do something similar in legendary weapons where you can change stats when out of combat.
Since ascended armor was introduced it is an end-game gear that every serious players need to have. And it is not so cheap. What if i want to play my warrior with soldier gear for WvW but with different sets of runes depending on what I’m doing atm. Then i have to make another ascended armor with same stats and that really hurts my wallet. Also other thing is that we have to keep those armors somewhere and when you have all classes and you are playing all of them on multiple roles you really have to sacrifice a lot of space in your inventory.
What do you guys think? Is change like that needed or not? Lets talk about that
YES YES YES, curentlly i have a 50% of bags on my guardian covered in tonics, toys, brawl skins, etc.
Guys it was all about Guardian bug which allow them to share every boon witn unlimited cap of allies affected. (quicknes from elite shout, stability to whole zerg with one shout, empower for everyone). It was fixed last night:

And yes ill post it in every thread because ppl are too lazy to check patch notes by themselves.

Now it is quickness for 5s every 24s for 5ppl as intended. Also 10s fury. So with 3 guards in party you can keep up qickness for 62% of the time for your party only.
Still that new elite signet is better. 1k healing to 5ppl every 10s from passive? Thats OP.
Is it only about guardians? Because giving boons on other professions looks fine i think.
At first look idea looks great and but at the end if you think a little about it turns out to not be that great.

It would push some of the guild that would like to be first in rankings to fight ONLY inside or a little outside their claimed structures.

Ppl are already complaining about “turtle” servers sitting inside thei towers/keeps 24/7 and that change would make it even worse.
It is just not the best way to create WvW rankings for guilds.

It is not only SFR. Also Drakkar Lake and Abbadon’s Mouth cant enter Drakkar Lake Borderland. Whole DL border belongs to Piken Square because enemy palyers cant enter the map.
This trait is designed ONLY for PvE environment NOT for combat like pvp or wvw. You dont have to use it so whats the problem ?

I bet that there is a LOT of players who played for something like a week or month after buying the game at launch. And then realized it is too hard, too easy, too boring, too exciting – anything that took them away from GW2. Then uninstalled the game and never come back.
I think this game exists for so long that players can expect some nickname wipe from ANet.
Not something that has to be added right here right now or othervise game will be broken.
But idea is really cool
Since we have a lot of random finishers from events, living world and festivals I would love to have an option to put a “Random Finisher” in my finisher box. There are a lot of great finishers in game (im collecting everything :P) and i have a hard time to choose my favorite. They are all just so fun! I want to use them all at the same time.
I know it is a small and probably not important change but add another 100 small changes like that and you have a big update incoming

Well actually you can see that crafting ascended components for example Bolt of Damask is much cheaper than buying them on TP. Why ? Because time is money. You are literally buying time for gold.
I think it is a great idea. Game give you a choice of saving some gold but spending more time on crafting your gear or spending more gold but saving a lot of time.
You can compare it to some simple things in real life like making a meal. You can go to shop, buy ready meal and just cook it in a pot. In most cases it will be more expensive than buying every single ingredient but you can save some time in exchange for money.

+1 It was terrible to look for dyes that you are missing. Currently have 446/457 but i would never do that again. This feeling when you now that you are missing one rare dye but don’t know which one exactly and you have to search whole TP listings for it.
What about achievments ? I don’t care so much about adding AP for dyes collection. But ANet could make a tab for them like for minis. You can see ALL minis available in game and easily check which one you are currently missing, then buy it. Doing same stuff for dyes would be great.

Believe me im really REALLY bad at huitar hero. Like UBER BAD. And im getting 550+ points at this game every time. Seriously dude you have to totally unskilled (no offence) or you just dont know when to press buttons (thats probably the problem).
When you go on a platform turn your camera UP (above your character head) so you can see lines better. Then wait for notes to PASS white line (well actually they can be on line but better wait for them to pass). You have to click buttons when notes are almost disappeared.
