+1. Exactly. Also, make the forum sortable for view count and number of posts.
+1. That’s what I’m lobbying for since time immemorial and the single most important thing. (it’s actually NOT a small thing, the whole world and all taverns would need a manual makeover. Then they got absurd creature sizes.)
Also, Arenanet, your communication channels aren’t right. You need a daily or weekly newspaper for each language/community/server with user submitted, strictly IC, but carefully fact- and typo-edited content (under supervision of the offically appointed Lore Overlord). In an easy to find place. Like a button top left. With an full, searchable archive of all issues. The existing Wiki would be the natural place for this. (or, actually, PDF would be better!) Including adverts for guilds and events. In a positively medieval layout and, for the love of God, no sans serif typeface! – You’d also need a running IC-date.
Biography field: Totally. This was a nice feat in NWN (Bioware) servers with local vault. More text and lots to read is always good. Good starting point to actually shape the world and let players have sorta lasting influence (aren’t personal files discouraged in the official Wiki?)
More Town Clothes: Yes. Without the paying option.
Chairs: Yes. Still priority 1, in my opinion.
A GREAT thing would be writable paper and books in the world, BTW, and persistent storage for those, duplicating, and trade. Alternatively, clarify the rules in the Wiki, allow personal pages, signed with IC date and IC location, and seperate decently between IC lore and OOC/mechanics mumbo jumbo. A daily newspaper central organ (for each server community) that pops up would also be great (with strict factual Arenanet lore oversight). Just saying.
+1. Agreed. I already noticed. It’s hardly of any serious use if you don’t quadruple 4x the char limit.
+1. Agree 100%. Silence them all 1/10 or 1/100 for all I care. We want to LIVE here. Especially in taverns.
+1 very strong support. The future speaks 1st person either way.
C’mon this is just some constraints on the camera. Who cares if it’s playable or not. Also make it possible to toggle all HUD EXCEPT the chat window.
- No. Just allow multiple guild memberships (maybe 4-6 max.) and therefore, multiple guild channels.
+1. Not only time, but also a running date and calendar year (i.E. seasons, for what’s it worth). Without a running date you don’t even have to START roleplaying&writing in any cohesive manner. This should be in-game easily visible, in the map right bottom corner of the screen. It’s 1325 now, if I’m correctly informed.
On a server of my own I simply had the in-game time synchronised with the (local) real world time (and also date). So you have ambient lighting for free, if you look out the window.
Maybe I’m just complicated. But the sky should be right, in any case.
As it is, it’s simply not defined in a way that makes sense.
+1. Absolutely.
- concur +1.
Though it’s not a democracy.
CHAIRS. - What GW2 needs right now. -
(excuse, that english is not my native tongue)
- CHAIR. CHAIRS. CHAIRS. Benches. Stools. Couches. Sitting places.
EVERY chair in the world must be made 1-click sittable placeable. Every tavern and fireplace needs an overhaul. Don’t know, how’d you handle creature sizes. (in NWN we would have “invisible placeable [SIT]” just dropped on top.)
The game is nearly photorealistic. So why is everyone standing?! I mean for YEARS.
Same holds true for beds. They absolutely must work. In the same vain: a few more animations/emotes would be nice.
People likes to rest their buttocks. This is almost a truism.
- Nudity.
Nudity is a basic human right. Limit this maybe to beaches, bathing halls and interior areas.
- IC clock and calendar.
For pity’s sake, what time of the day is it? What year, what season. How should you sign a letter. Do I say “Good Morning” or “Good Evening” when I come in.
- Lower the frequency of NPC barks/noises in the main taverns. A LOT (1/10).
Designated social gathering places must be totally unintrusive and accommodating. People just turn their VOICE volume down, and this is no help to anyone. Ideally, there would be no music.
In the same vain: the music frequency slider is a splendid idea, but raise the max. tenfold.
Most important, is Divinity’s Reach.
- I’m divided about the absurd hearing range. Leave it as it is.
- A server status/connectivity/live stats window of servers would be a good idea.
- A general player locator would be a good idea (where is everyone? in such a friggin’ huge world.) Population number of towns or stuff on the map.
- You could need a (strictly IC) 1000-2000 page reference document of all Setting&Lore (PDF). Think of Hitchhiker’s Guide. Could be compiled out of the en.Wiki at same point, when it’s consensus and all typos are ironed out etc. This should be in-game and easy to find. This is NOT the manual or tutorial, but the IC encyclopedia and look-up for roleplayers.
- I’d love you to overwork CTRL+SHIFT+H. The chat window stays open, all essential(!) (no map, no menu) windows would stay open or pop up. You could play for days socially with a bare minimum HUD and free screen.

So, it’s a wonderful game you have here, but whether it works out as a world domination plan, a place to actually live in, and is still around in 20 years solely hangs on: if you have enough CHAIRS. Like SITTING. SW:TOR does it wrong, TSW does it wrong, so why should you.
