Seeing this release and the other ones we got till now it seems kinda small :o
We get:
1 new dungeon path – surely not bad but it seriously cant take THAT long to complete
1 new weapon set – that contains recoloured and reskinned weapons …well
1 new back item – looks nice but also can’t take that long to create
Aether Chests – A part of the new dungeon path, but you have to get the key parts in the open world.
I am somehow underwhelmed by the size of the upcoming patch. I know that they release one now every 2 weeks, but still they got 8? teams working on content, so they all have plenty of time for their stuff, and creating a new dungeon with some reskinned weapons is not much compared to like a whole new map like Zephyr Sanctum with 2 minigames, events all over the place etc.
What is your opinion on that?
In my eyes it is still a bit too less. It would be nice if like the healing signet scaled well with it too. Like healing signet going up to 400 every second, and adrenal health up to 1000-1200 every second, that would make a good 800 hp every second, and that would make me feel that my healing power invested pays off. But I get like 30 hp more from the passive of healing signet and 190 from adrenal health, not worth it
Please look at the trade off. Do you really think that 190 hp every 3 seconds, meaning 63 hp every seconds are worth 1250 healing power? There is food that gives you more healing per second! If you put the 1250 not in healing power but in vitality you have 12500 hp more, that is for sure better.. seriously, the “buff” of adrenal health is way too low. Investing over 1250 healing power should give you much sustain, like guardians get with dodging. 1 hp each point of healing power + base and we can talk about going down that line.
I did it with the first team I met with a level 65 from my guild, so I can tell you it is beatable by pugs, but they all have to listen and there are certain points in the dungeon where you all have to stop fighting and start reviving downed allies. I think at the Mai Trin fight we all tried to survive the cannons and after that only 2-3 were alive and we needed like 2-3 minutes to be all up again, but then it worked. Same with the pirate door
Does PVP only means that my axe/axe build still sucks in WvW? If yes then I don’t get it…what comes next, splitting hundred blades damage in PvE and PvP?
I’m kinda disappointed that they buffed whirling axe PVP only…why is that? I mean, they did not nerf 100 blades in PVE…don’t make a weapon viable in PVP only, that is not fun. I like PVP but I like to play PVE like a play PVP, not completely different weapons..
Ah, okay, I also only found that post from the original website
I still can’t find any patch notes on dulfy.com, do you mind sharing the link to that?
Alot of builds still are bad even if you have 10 points in strength and discipline. And there is a reason why everyone had those two traits, they we’re too good to be only 10 points in a trait line. Every build I build, I put those 20 points in first, regardless what I was doing, and no class should have those. If you don’t choose to build a dps build now, you can use those 20 points now somewhere else, if you still want to go for full DPS you will go in strength or discipline. But you state that it is NEEDED to get those 2 traits to be viable at all and that is nonsense. You can get up to 100% crit chance without that trait and even if those 12% damage are nice, you can get it somewhere else, and also it mainly benefits greatsword players, since they won’t use their adrenaline. And every greatsword player will put 20 points in strength anyways for 10% more damage and with 10 points more they get another 15% damage.
I just wanted to ask the same, name me those 8 viable DPS builds, maybe even with different weapon sets and not ONLY greatsword.
With this changes you can finally use axe AND greatsword builds for DPS.
I also don’t see why you would need the extra damage so bad, I mean several other traits give you alot of damage now. You get 150 power and all your allies too if you choose, you can get 20% more damage when below 50% health. And there are still plenty of other traits that give you a massive boost. And IF you decide to still go for those traits, they will now boost your % even higher.
only GS warriors are complaining, as they don’t want other weapon sets got stronger than their ugly sunrise or twilight
hopefully warriors are more competitive in pvp after that patch…right now they’re pretty much victims for almost every class.
All weapon sets are getting weaker except axes which were good and popular enough.
Please tell me how and what weapon got weaker? Cant be sword cuz it got a cripple on leap, final thrust is stronger and riposte blocking correctly now. Can’t be mace since weakness is now better overall and skull crack has doubled stun duration. Cant be the hammer because the aftercast of nearly every skill got reduced. Also longbow skills can now be traited so they cooldown recharge is -20% and the range is now 1000. So what weapon got weakened? Greatsword because it did not get stronger?
There are so many threads with tons of people crying about how their warriors get nerfed, but seriously, I don’t see it!
The patch is about more build variety! Maybe you have to change your build a bit if you are running berserker cof 24/7 but else, it is a great improvement!
If those leaked notes are true ofc.
First thing I noticed is that Whirling Axe gets 50% more damage! With this one the damage is at ~1500, so it is comparable to 100blades without the final strike BUT you are movable! + it is a whirl finisher, so insinde a combo field you shoot 15 projectiles…how isnt this a huge buff to everyone who always wanted a moved 100 blades?!
Also the damage spiked moved from the axe, that does not change overall damage but also does not make the axe a n00b weapon, because you actually have to look that you land your final hit, but this one will deal a nice damage spike your opponent might not expect.
With changes to furious speed and Opportunist we get a huge buff to our boons. If you have some points in tactics or some runes with +% to boon duration even more. You can get 10 out of 15 seconds swiftness and fury 10 seconds every 10 seconds because you have a criple on nearly every weapon that is on a cooldown lower than 10 seconds.
Defy Pain got lowered to 60 seconds and the new train Cleansing Ire will remove 3 conditions every time you use your burst skill. And with the new change that you get adrenaline for nearly everything your burst will be up at cooldown all the time, so you conditions wont last long. And if they do, pop your berserkers stance you conditions wont hit you.
Even if you dont go for all the swiftness you can get you can get a constant +25% movement speed in combat with the new warrior’s sprint.
Desperate power giving you additional 20% damage if you are below 50% health is huge too, since 50% health is still alot, not to mention that empower allies will give you 150 power and everyone near you is amazing.
Beside of that, all our healing skills have a 5 seconds lowered cooldown and alot of weapon aftercasts are loweder so our attack chains are faster.
The only “NERF” I can see is that the 2 traits that are in EVERY build, regardless what you play, got moved to the end because they were too strong, BUT got buffed if you choose to go down in those lines. And this is seriously not a nerf, but only a motivation to change something of your build. You either invest in all the other awesome traits we got now and maybe focus more on SPENDING the adrenaline for damage and condition removal, OR you keep it, get a massive boost, BUT you have to invest in it, so you have to spec into it, making you a glass cannon.
The only thing that got NERFED are extremely passive builds that still get 12% more damage and 9% crit chance for only investing 10 trait points, and that one was really not fair. Good thing now is that those grandmaster traits were now moved, so you can access them earlier.
So please tell me now how your warrior got severely nerfed. And please dont tell me now that you got nerfed because you can’t spec into defense and still deal 20k+ damage with 100 blades, because you shouldnt.
Hello fellows,
The guild I’ve been into was disbanded last week so I decided to look for something new.
I am playing GW2 since headstart, but took some breaks from time to time. I am playing mainly my warrior, but also got another warrior (human, first one is a charr), a guardian and an engineer sitting on level 80. I mostly do PvE, dungeons, fractals all that stuff and sometimes also WvW. I would do more WvW and maybe even sPvP but warrior sucks so bad that I really dont want to play there with an underpowered class :P
I’m searching a guild with alot of other members to get into dungeons, do other fun stuff and talk I would also like to do a bit more of those guild quests, since my last guild only had bounty and did that once a week.
If you think your guild is the place where I should be in, send me a message or whisper me ingame
Greetings
If you want to know, I have a human warrior sitting at level 80, fully geared up and at fractal level 20+ and already bought alot of laurel stuff for him and still started a new charr warrior…and for me…it was totally worth it
I would say you have to balance precision and crit damage and look at each number individually.
Check the table on: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Critical_hit
There you get a pretty good impression how to perfectly balance crit chance and crit damage.
I used to run my build with those runes too, using axe/mace What is worth mentioning is that it has a good synergy with the trait Empowered, giving you a 2% damage increase for every boon on you – so you get another 18% more damage for roughly 5-6 seconds, meaning that an eviscerate right after your signet activation hurts reeeaaally really bad :P
Using soldier runes is enough, I don’t think additional condition removal on shouts is needed. I think the main problem is that those shouts are used as support and more in a defensive way, as they heal, BUT mostly give offensive boons or vulnerabilty to the oppenent. I wish there would be a trait that would give shouts a defensive aspect, like granting protection for 3 seconds. Or giving shake it off stability too. A way to give those shouts some more use than little offense and little defensive and little support.
Well, helmets are a preference thing and I don’t like to wear any, but I have still used a transmutation stone on mine to make it look like the vigil helmet that I really like. Else only T3 looks good in a certain way and maybe also the one you can buy in the gem store. T2 is also cool if your fur color is red already, else it looks like your char got a bad rash under his helmet :P
I’m playing an axe build too, but a bit more supportive since I put 30 into tactics to get healing shouts. I know the healing you get is not that much (around 1,2k) but that results in a nice 3,6k heal for your whole group, and even this 1,2k can save your life pretty often, and there is no cast time and you can use them while knocked down etc.
Rest is 20/10/0/30/10 – 5% more damage is superior to 10% crit damage that’s why I took it, ofc both traits that benefit from adrenaline (12% dmg and 9% crit chance), healing shouts, faster shout recharge and more damage with boons (Usually 3 boons due to sigil and shouts).
I use a mace offhand, mainly for the vulnerabilty and the situational knockdown. I like the knockdown because it is ranged and can hit multiple enemies, but the real good thing about this weapon setup is the vulnerabilty.
When I see that eviscerate is up I use mace 4, axe 2, on my mark to get 18 stacks of vulnerabilty on the target + 1-3 additional vulnerabilty stacks due to critical hits and rendering strikes and then use eviscerate for 20% more damage. Also using sigil and FGJ non stop for perma fury and some might.
I use knights gear mostly, with berserker shoulders and gaunlets and ruby jewels. Atm I use some mixed accessories, some knights, cavalier, berserker and my beloved karka shell. In PvE I sometimes hit up to 11-12k with eviscarate using my vulnerabilty skills
I think there are only 2 possible solutions for this problem:
1. Remove the guesting feature
2. Find a way that you can’t double loot chests and gathering spots when guesting.
I like the idea of guesting, as it helps people to stay connected and play together, but the system as it is now has SO MANY flaws, that it is just not worth it.
To sum it up, it only helps players that play on the SAME regional server (US or EU) and ONLY in open world content, as they can do dungeons and fractals together without guesting. Considering open world content, their actions do not work with guild influence, as each server has it’s own influence, so the only thing it is good for is roaming open world together. That is a benefit for friends who do not want to change server, but the drawbacks are huge, as they offer multiple “abuses” like:
- Gathering 3 times more materials (mainly orichalcum, omnomberries and ancient wood)
- Doing dragons and chest events 3 times on EACH char per day (resulting in massive lags and overflows on many servers)
In my honest opinion I would take out the option to guest till you have managed to put in some piece of code so all your gathering nodes and boss chests are taken over to the guesting server.
Yep, play the story mission where the Pale Tree sends you to Orr, there she will tell you the story of how the “Guild Wars” started. It’s the name of a war that is going on in the lore of this game and has nothing to do with any real guild vs. guild features
First of all, they made 9 and you can choose 5 of them so you can actually really decide yourself what kind of stuff you want to do, so if you would get rewarded if you do all of them, where is the point of that?
Second and most important, they added more of them so they can add new daily tasks that some people simply cant finish, but that does not matter because you don’t need to finish all of them.
Example: Yesterday one of those missions was to complete one story mission – what about people who has done their personal story? Create a new char and do a story mission to actually get a reward?
The system is about having a choice to do whatever you want from those 9 tasks, giving you an additional reward completely destroys it’s purpose – that way we could have kept the 5 tasks and reward players for doing 3 of them – same principle.
As the title says I am looking for a small to medium sized guild on Underworld for me and 3 RL friends to move too. Our main priorities are PvE and sometimes screwing around in WvW, but most commonly just roaming open world, dungeons and fractals along with the new guild missions of course.
One of the main criteria I look for in a guild is communication and friendship rather than a big guild where noone knows anyone else and the guild chat is only another lfg channel, I don’t want that – I want to have a chat with fellow players who loves this game like I do, who love to talk about random stuff and love PvE aswell as the other aspects of this game
If you are in such a guild and would like us to join, please contact me here or ingame, I am most commonly online on Garrus Steelblade
So you are angry because you are dealing more damage than guardians but you don’t have the same tankyness as you call it?
If you want to survive longer battles you now have to make your build around that rather than going full zerker and using a food to get absurd healing.
Like the title says, I am looking for a guild to merge my guild with to be able to access guild missions easier and find new people to do dungeons, quests and other fun stuff, or just to chat
My guild has currently 15 members, some more some less active, not all are currently representating. We enjoy PvE most, especially dungeon and fractal runs, but also some WvW from time to time
If you are interested, please leave me a message here or whisper me ingame (Aertos) to discuss about the details etc
Hello fellow Tyrians,
Since the new patch is going to bring alot of stuff for guilds and hence improving PvE in general, it seems that it is mandatory to somehow get enough members to access and do that content. I run a small guild at the moment on the server Underworld (around 20 members, some semi active, some very active) with a focus on PvE in general, like alot of event chains, dungeons and also fractals and some fun WvW, like holding camps as a little group, but no serious zerging etc.
Since the guild missions require level 5 of Arts of War to even start, not mentioning that harder guild missions will require even more ressources to access them and kick them off, I thought it might be a good idea to find a guild that thinks the same as me about the future update, a guild that has around the same rooster size, the same preferences and who want to fusion with my guild.
We would mainly discuss what guild will be kept (guess the one with better upgrades), about leading positions etc.
My guild, the Seventh Dynasty focuses on PvE, fun and friendship. We encourage every player to use the guild chat to have some pals to chat with while doing whatever you like, and to have people who are always willing to help out if you need anything.
If you are interested, please leave a message here or write a letter, or whisper me online on Aertos or Garrus Steelblade
Seriously I don’t understand the reasoning of alot of people about race changes. I mean there is actually an item that changes your whole appearance and ever your gender if you wish too, and still NPCs react to you the same and noone questions why you look completely different, so in my eyes it would not matter if a human plays the human story, finishes it and after that goes somewhere to some priory labgeek who wants to try his new potion on me and suddenly I am a charr, and omg, there is a side effect, he can’t change me back, unless ofcourse, I try another potion, which will cost me some gems again. As simple as that, no story changes or anything, just some limitations like: personal story done and not wearing race restriced armor. You may either get the elite skills transfered to the other race or simply loose them, not the best thing, but if you really want to change the race you have to deal with it, and everyone who is level 80 is sitting on a ton of skill points anyways. Same goes with the cultural armor, either you just cant use it or it could be replaced by the other races counterparts.
This is a real huge hit in the face. Seeing this tree as the only real non-PVE tree, and now it is needed for a big part of the endgame PVE content? It would be nice if you could rethink that, level 5 seems hard or achieve, and in my personal opinion the politics tree would seem alot better suited, as alot of small guilds that enjoy the PVE content, got this one atleast on level 3 to get guild weapons and armor.
I have checked gw2armor.com but it seems that they are either not on there or I have not recognized them because of the colors or of my stupidity :P
Hmm, I would adive a axe/mace build with a rifle or bow as second weapon.
10/10/0/30/20 setup, I use that one atm.
Picking up Berserkers Power in the first trait for extra damage and Rending Strikes on the second one for fast stacking vulnerabilty.
In the tactis trait I would go fo faster recharging shouts and shouts heal, this trait line is all about your survivabilty, it will get you 3000hp and 30% longer boon duration, I really like it. The heals you get from the shouts is not really great, but those 1,3k per shout can save your life and if you go with a buddy, it will heal him too.
In Discipline I took Heightened Focus for extra crit chance and faster signet recharge.
So to your points:
1) Our elite signet will get you 30 sec swiftness + 30% boon duration on a 48s cooldown. If you use runes to increase your boon duration you can even get perma switfness. Only thing that axe/mace lacks is an abilty to jump right in, but I personally think it is not much needed in 1v1 situations, and you have cripples and immobalize options.
2) Use either a bow or a rifle. Bow has an immobalize skill that is nice and also good damage, rife got alot of damage potention and a cripple. You can also use the trait that every cripple also applies a 1s immo to stop your oppenent of running away. Also the axe 3 cripples and is distance ranged. So 2 options to cripple + immo a target. + If you really need more, take bolas as utility skill. And never forget maces 5 – the best off all, throwing down your enemy.
3) This build lacks of any gap closer, but if you cripple + immo your target from distance you are at him pretty fast, knock him down and get the job done without alot of moving around.
4) With your extra health, healing shouts and omnomberry ghosts for heals on crit you get some survivabilty. If it is not high enough, try to balance out knights set with berserker pieces.
5) No idea about that tbh :P
Hope I could help
I run double axe myself and I think skill 4 and 5 can be very useful.
First off, skill 4 does not bad damage and gives fury, the fury is not alot but can sometimes give you the 2 seconds of fury you need to have all time fury.
But now to skill 5, the real deal here. It’s damage is not as high as the melee attack, but this isn’t about damage. First of all it hits 15 times, with a near to 100% crit chance you will hit 14-15 times critical, so the damage is not that low, but you will get around 10 heals combined with omnomberry ghosts, and that’s only when you are hitting a single target. When there are alot of mobs I seriously cant die with this skill – like cof path 2, they simply cant drop me, I do it with 4k health and Im back at 20k.
Next nice thing, I recently choose not to go for the trait where burst skills cost less, so Im low on adrenaline when using eviscerate, so at boss fights etc. I use it directly after my eviscerate to get to nearly full adrenaline again.
And ofcourse if you are in a group of mobs it does really nice damage considering it hits everything around you in a relatively wide radius.
Just my two cents
That said, the Warrior has a huge advantage over the Thief in high-end PvE in the form of tankability, party-wide Fury/Might, tons of Vulnerability stacks, heavy armor class, highest base HP of any class (tied with Necro), etc.
That’s not much of an advantage, especially not in a game which makes little to no use of endgame PvE.
Only if you don’t want to play PvE endgame. If you are into PvE and do not like to PvP you can still try to get nice equipment out of the dungeons, get the dungeon master achievement and get to a nice level in the fractals + getting ascended stuff there.
First of all, don’t use magic find gear, atleast not that way. In dungeons it won’t help a bit since you get the good stuff out of chests mostly and magic find does no impact there. On everything else you chance to get a rare item or higher is around 1% I would guess, maybe even lower, so with an 18% increase that would be…nothing really. There are parts where magic find might be helpful, like Orr farming, but to increase your magic find to a nice amount you need armor with magic find + superior runes that give you 60% more magic find + magic find food = more than 100% magic find.
Second thing, I would not use only ranged weapons on a warrior. Melee attacks are meant to be stronger than distance attacks because you can get hit more while attacking melee. That means it is right, melee will do more dps than your distance attacks. Furthermore there are several bosses ingame where close combat would be beneficial, like in CoE explorable mode (Subject Alpha) and also at some parts where something has to be taken down fast, melee is simply better.
I would suggest you take one melee weapon and one ranged weapon, and maybe the other ranged weapon in your backpack and change it if you need to, that’s what I do. If I know there will be alot of mobs I take my bow because of the 3 skill that is just awesome. When I do boss fights where the boss moves alot, my 3 will become nearly useless, so I switch to my rifle to get alot of single target damage.
Going full berserker is sometimes risky and I like some additional toughness on some of my armor pieces, since there is a huge gap armorwise between the crit damage you get and the secondary attribute you do not get.
Example: Exquisite Berserker Jewels give you 3% crit damage instead of 15 toughness, so 1% crit = 5 toughness
Draconic Boots will give you 2% cit, but you will loose out on 24 attribute points, so 1% crit = 12 other stats.
I personally dont like signet warriors either, I cant help it. You get 160 precision, that’s fine, but it isnt alot AND you will loose it while your signets are on cooldown, and since the passive effects are lame, you should activate them.
I would advise you to look around for a better build that benefits you more and uses better utility skills. Using a banner will get you +85 precision and 10% crit damage and you can trait it so you can use it nearly all the time. On my mark gives everyone in the group a 10% damage boost, for great justice gives the whole group fury and might, and if you get signet cooldown and shout cooldown reduced you can get perma fury with signet and for great justice.
If you want to add a little survivabilty to that you can even spend 30 points to get shouts heal, to add a little support to your party and heal yourself every ~20 seconds for additional ~3500

About the Seventh Dynasty
Founded on Blacktide, but moved to Underworld in January. we are a young, but already pretty active guild. We would consider us a community driven, semi-rpg based group of friends, consisting of helpful & trustworthy members who play Guild Wars 2 for fun and friendship. Actually, we like to think of ourselfves more of a circle of friends, rather than just a simple guild guild. Loyalty, friendship and trust are our biggest pillars and therefore the most important values we seek in our future guildmates.
Our main focus in the game lies on PvE, group events, dungeons and fractals, but also exploring together. We are also trying to build smaller groups for WvW encounters and sPvp matches.
We are happy about every member that represents our guild, mainly because it is the only way to use the guild chat and communicate with all the other, but nevertheless there will be no consequences for not representing us, as we also want to encourage you to keep in touch with all your other friends and guilds in Guild Wars 2.
Apart from the guildchat in-game, we place high significance on communication of any kind. You can find our official guild forum at the top of the site. For grouping, dungeons and other various activities we also use other communication tools like Teamspeak or Skype often, and welcome you to participate. Once you joined our guild you may register yourself to our forum and wait until your account will be verified. You are then asked to check the forum frequently for any announced news, group activities or guild meetings. Please find more detailed information in our forum guidelines thread.
We are currently recruiting English speaking players of any level, race and class and any european server.
To join us simply use the form on our website or /whisper on of the leaders.

It is really up to you how you play, but from my experience, the first 20 levels are the “hardest” ones, because you do not have alot of areas to level up if you do not want to go and visit the other starting areas. I would advise you to participate in any ongoing event you see, and even if you are just rushing by, helping a little and then leaving while other people are still there also gets you your gold medal often enough
Another advice is to not neglect your crafting skills, they really help out ALOT. If you try to level up 2 crafting skills until you reach level 80 you will get around 20 levels only with crafting. I would take the armor smith crafting discipline depending on the armor type you are using (light, medium, heavy) and cooking, that way you can always craft one of the best armors for your level by yourself and get exp for it, cooking is really cheap to level up, you get ingredients mostly by opening bags and buying foods in a bulk at karma merchants. You also get some nice buffs from the food while leveling and will be able to craft the omnomberry stuff yourself at level 400, that way you can save some copper and silver in your level 80s.
Also do not forget exploration as they give some nice exp rewards aswell, and always eat some food as they all give you a % exp boost, no matter what food you eat. You can buy it really cheap off the trading post, at npcs or just cook it yourself
As for the build, I would not concentrate on anything special, but I would suggest to take the arms trait that gives you +40 precision for each unused signet and take signets in every slot early. This will give you a great boost in your early levels but will become less effective as you get higher levels. Also try to gather up 10 skill points for your elite skill at level 30
Hope I could help
Your comparison is kinda flawed because you compare 100b, the best attack with the greatsword with whirling axe, the worst attack regarding damage.
Whirling Axe has a long cooldown and a long animation time and deals less damage than the auto-attack, only good thing is, it hits 15 times, so with omnomberry ghosts/pies you can get to full health if you whirl in 3-4 targets.
You should compare 100b with eviscerate and auto attacks of the axe.
Eviscerate does nice damage, around 1/2 – 2/3 of a full hundred blades, but does it instantly, you are not rooted and even jumping a bit at the target so you can hardly miss it and as it is instant, you can place some auto attacks too while in the meantime you would still cast 100b.
I played a GS + rifle and an axe/mace + axe/axe build and I have to say that greatsword is a lot more situational, if you can hit every greatsword attack you deal more damage but with axes you can dodge more and you do not need to rely on one attack.
Hope I could help
Yep, and since they are nearly not killable alone, they now stay at a position and you have to kill them first to get to the respawned gift. So they kinda guard it and I watch and see dead people around them all along. No problem with skritt tho, they act and behave normal. But I also noticed that at some locations the monsters spawn outside the christmas gift, and attack you from somewhere behind.
It is really not fun, I’m running around and trying to get the cristmas gift boxes and everytime I open those damn christmas presents Im getting killed by those toy ventari..hell, even 2 others joined me and died in seconds, they are crazy strong and not fun at all. If they don’t get changed I refuse to open any christmas present since I loose more money because I have to repair my stuff than I get with the stupid skins.
