Since apparently the old thread has died, I am making this thread so that this glorious piece of gw2 history remains with us.

This is a poem written by a gw2 player called mighty meak and I take no credit for it.

Please do not let it go gentle into that good night.

dredge fractal-blasting makes me in combat

This is because of a mechanic of one certain type of dredge, the Excavator. They can pick up weapons of dead dredge, so they have to leave something behind that they can interact with. Also, whenever there’s anything causing AoEs(turrets) or there’s something moving in the environment, chances are there’s a hitbox nearby as well, because they need some entity that actually performs these actions.

Cite me correctly, cause this kind of responses let you appear to learn a lot slower than you might think.
So, I gonna repeat to you – slowly – why your point is mute:

You compare the direct dps of 2 builds, one being a genereric zerk necro you came up with & the other being the warri meta p/s build.
But while 1 of these builds is fabricated to achieve the highest personal dps possible, while making little to none scrifices to utility, the 2nd build makes big sacrifices to personal dps in order to come with a maximum of group buffes.
You then – correctly – find out that your necro does higher dps than the meta warri build.

But then – and read carefully now – you jump to a false conclusion.
This false conclusion is that only the personal dps justifies a class being in the meta or not. You fail to realize that it is these huge sacrifices in personal dps, towards maximized group buff-capability make p/s warri a meta-build. He increases the overalls parties dps so heavily that he outshines the personal dps of your build by miles.

As soon as you grow familiar enough with the combat mechancs of gw2 to understand this, we can close this thread.

Until that I enjoy my popcorn & happily point out every single flaw in every single of your “rebutals” to the meta.
The reality is that you are not even remotely as smart as you try to appear in your videos. You are just delusioned & arrogant if you think you understand the game better than every single one of us combined, and your hurt feelings are what thrives you to these troll-threads, both today & a year ago…
Enjoy your day

I’ll just post this here since I finally got annoyed enough with his fanboys spamming my youtube notifications enough to do it.

https://youtu.be/B78o5uBUZG4

In this video I kill crusher from first hit to last hit in precisely 1 minute, 21 seconds, 21 milliseconds (1:21:21) or just 81.21 seconds. The crusher has exactly 1,087,940 health.

1087940 / 81.21 results in exactly 13,396.626, or roughly ~13.4k DPS over the course of the entire fight, which was in a solo setting.

The video nemesis showed has somebody using a suboptimal warrior build for personal damage along with suboptimal utility choice and a suboptimal rotation, and he also starts the timer like 6 seconds early or some pathetic kitten like that. For his necro video he gets fully buffed from a phalanx warrior, EA, both banners, frost spirit, and more… even gets to use his 180 second cooldown burst for the duration of the 30 second encounter, and gets personal DPS barely better than what I was able to do in a completely solo setting.

Yet this is the same kid who claims that a warrior in a group gets supposedly 2k less DPS than me who isn’t maintaining 25 might, isn’t getting EA, isn’t getting both banners, and isn’t getting frost spirit with 25 vuln on the boss. I’m completely by myself in my video. What do you think my sustained DPS would be if I were to have all of these things, hmmm?

I’d have 320 extra power from both banner of strength and EA, I’d have several hundred power more for a large portion of the encounter since I wasn’t sustaining 25 might this entire time, I’d have an additional ~20-22% more damage from having 25 vuln sustained on the boss instead of 2-3, etc etc… you get the picture.

But you know what?

I have the basic decency to admit that my video is an unrealistic demonstration of what normally happens in fights. I have 25 bloodlust stacks here, I start the fight on full adrenaline without having to activate signet or use the shout heal to get it, I was able to use scholar runes, and I was able to perfectly position the two bosses to convenience myself by ensuring they were in cleave range at all times. On top of that, crusher is a lightly armored boss, which totally skews the results in my favor.

Because of this, I am not posting a video trying to trick thousands of people into believing something that’s untrue and skewed in my favor. Why don’t I do this, you might ask?

Well the answer is quite simple:

It’s because I’m not a scumbag with a hidden agenda.

Fractals kicking needs to be sorted

hi. as someone that runs with 1 or 2 guildies most of the time and pugs the last spots if we can’t be bothered low manning a 50, I will give some insight on why they might kick you.

1. Bad build/playstyle. Did you play using a bad build such as a power based build using shortbow? Did you help in anyway by providing frost spirit or spotter? Did you simply just play badly and was constantly dead on the floor?

2. Did you listen to instructions and follow the groups tactics? I am not sure how common it is in fractals with a bunch of people from 1 guild, but I generally say what me and my guildies are gonna be doing if it is any different from the basic pug strats. An example is stealthing past the dredge in the dredge fractal, having the thief use shadow trap on the two arm seals for cliffside (surprisingly pugs don’t seem to know this one), doing mossman legit, not standing at max range and ranging mai trin or the molten duo, etc.

3. Were you being nice and not getting salty and random questions if they are asked at you? A really good example is yesterday a warrior joined us, he was using banner of tactics and a dolyak signet, had keepers weapons but had full berserker armor (with scholar runes and was using the dumplings). I asked them why they were running the keepers weapons and the dolyak signet and banner of tactics, and he responded with “oh so you are a bunch of kittens” and then left. I was not being rude or mean, I was just asking why.

4. Continuing on from previous point. Were you running the correct gear? Obvious question, but people can tell when you aren’t wearing the right gear based off of the amount of damage being done.

Most of the time when you are kicked, it is not to be given away to a guildie or to be sold. It is usually from one of the above points. Sometimes it is done, but it is so rare it is like having a precursor drop. And when it does happen, just take it on the chin and look at what you did throughout the run that could have caused it to happen

She goes invulnerable and disappears both when she reaches 50% life (from a higher % life), as well as on a 45 second timer if below a certain % life). Let’s just say that certain % is 65% (maybe it is, maybe it isn’t).

So if you take her from 65% to 50%, she disappears eventually (you can get her below 50%… with very high DPS you can even kill her outright before she disappears). She heals while doing this. If you are very slow at kiting the sparks, and/or don’t get her down much below 50% life, she can heal above the threshold (which we’re calling 65%). Then, once you get her back to 50%, she’s going to disappear. This can cycle if you continue to be slow at kiting sparks and/or don’t get her down much below 50% by the time she disappears.

This is not a bug. It’s a feature. ANET saying is that your group’s coordination is unacceptably poor, and you can’t pass go, your group’s DPS is unacceptably poor and you can’t pass go, or both.

ONE PLAYER in full damage gear can output enough damage to do this, providing one other player helps kite sparks. A full party ought to be able to output greatly more damage, and kite the sparks much faster.

Sometimes we just sit in silence for hours. Not a word needs to be spoken.

He was such a hard worker up at PR&T Esoteric’s. He cared deeply about his work, and wasn’t afraid to stand up and fight when something threatened the company, like when Bleent’s crazy ooze experiment went awry. He was always friendly to passersby, offering help with PR&T’s products and showing genuine interest in their feedback. The locals in Akk Wilds more or less considered him to be the friendly, caring face of PR&T.

But then it all went wrong. PR&T cared far less for him than he did for them. They used him up and once he completed construction on his oozeshooters, they just kicked him to the curb like garbage. He was no longer useful to them — they had their product and had no need to further improve upon it, opting instead to simply push the half finished oozeshooters on their customers and turn a deaf ear to their complaints.

Alas, the oozeshooters had small, but easily correctable, defects. As a result the local wurm population dwindled, leaving the locals angry with PR&T. They lashed out at the company, demanding improvement, begging for support — to finish the oozeshooters that had so much potential. The company just ignored the complaints, instead focusing on oozeshooting competitions, sponsored endorsements, and cheap novelty oozeshooter knick-knacks.

Our brilliant friend could do nothing. Abandoned by the company he loved so, he spends his days keeping watch over the Akk Wilds. Remembering fondly days gone by, when he felt valued and appreciated. Reminiscing over lost opportunities to complete his masterpiece. Trying to forgive the cruel company that did not return his affections.

Somedays he finds peace helping out Parnna with her transfer chamber, or visiting Oola’s lab. I like those days, his face warms over with a satisfied smile and his bubbly personality infects all he meets.

Other days are darker, and he just stands outside PR&T in silence, his sorrowful thoughts known only to him. I try to just sit with him, trying to silently let him know his plight was appreciated. Reminding him that he is still legendary among the locals for his helpful and friendly service during his time at PR&T. Helping him cope with the devastation of the wurms that resulted from his half-finished masterpiece. No matter how I try, however, some days the pain just never leaves his face.

Today is one of those days. I hope tomorrow will be better.

I got over 17K AP and never did dungeons until recently. My AP is from WvW, Living Story, achieves, jumping puzzles, etc. I only got into doing dungeons and fractals recently because I needed them for Mawdrey II and making Legendary weapons. (made my first one and working on my second, yay!) Fractals are not so much something I care to do but did them for Mawdrey II which was SOOO worth it. I am doing dungeons now because hubby got me a precursor and I bought another one on my own. I kind of like the dungeons now and am finding them interesting enough to try more and actually am a bit sorry that I did not try them sooner….

What astonished me when getting into PUGs is I keep getting comments like, “You got over 17K AP!!! you should know what to do!” And when I join a group I do try to let folk know I am new to dungeons but I am also very good at following instructions (tell me what to do and I will do it!). AP is SO not an indicator that you know what the heck you are doing, path wise… I will say so far the groups I have joined have been pretty nice and reasonably tolerant. Communication is key. Let them know you are a dungeon noob, let them know you are willing to follow instructions and follow what the experienced folk tell you to do, give it your all for the team and generally it works out very well.

Kudos to those tolerant folk out there.

Here are a few explanations of why the AI is done in certain ways. Not saying the AI can’t be improved, because it definitely could, but this will at least make you understand design choices a bit better.

1. In GW1 the meta strategy was to ball all the enemies up around the tank and nuke them with AOE like Spiteful Spirit (to name one). When hardmode came out they introduces new AI that ran out of AOE. Essentially, all that change did was make certain skills unusable. AOE skills like Firestorm or Spiteful Spirit or Ray of Judgement became unusable. Those skills may not even have existed. People defaulted to other means of DPS that didn’t trigger the anti-AOE ai. People switched from one set of OP skills to another. Since all AI is inherently limited, people found the new limits and defeated the new system. the lesson is that they made a big change that accomplished very little other than nerfing an entire set of skills. If anet wants to nerf all AOE skills then fine, but I suspect nerfing a bunch of skills indirectly isn’t the goal of any AI change.

2. PvE mobs that dodge, evade, or kite are inherently annoying. You said it yourself, you don’t like going slower in combat. When enemy mobs snare you it’s annoying because it very rarely means you’re going to die, it just delays the inevitable. By the same token there are plenty of mobs in GW2 that have built in evade (Kohler, CM archers etc) and they are simply annoying rather than fun. Let’s say a mob dodges 1/3rd of all attacks. OK, well how is that any different from just having 1/3rd more HP when all is said and done? It really isn’t. The end result is the same but it’s much more annoying for a player to miss with his skills than to land with his skills even if kill times are identical. People playing the game like their big flashy attacks and spells. They like seeing big numbers. If my choice was a boss who evaded every third attack and one with 33% more HP I’ll take the second one any day.

3. I think the biggest problem with the trash mobs in this game is that the mobs aren’t balanced parties except in Arah and Silverwastes. When you encounter a bunch of spiders in the open world, they are all the same: poison inflicting and bite attacks and the occasional immobilize. In arah the Elite Risen mobs run in mixed packs with the ranger, mesmer, ele, warriors etc. They have more powerful versions of the player’s skills, lot’s of AOE attacks and are very difficult for unprepared players. That’s pretty much the level of mob difficulty we should be getting in challenging content moving forward. In GW1 Nightfall they did a good job of introducing the mixed packs of mobs in the open world and as a result Nightfall had the best open world PvE of the original game. I think there is a good lesson there.

4. Lastly, your “battle sense” comment is very similar to people who want PvE mobs that behave more like PvP players. I think this comes from a few misunderstandings. At the mechanical level, as I explained before, dodges, evasions, kiting and snares are annoying to fight in PvE. Not many of the people advocating for more pvp-like combat in pve have thought through the implications of that from a fun perspective. Next, you have a big issue: properly balanced PvP fights are close affairs. If you are equally matched to your opponents you will only win 50% of your fights. Nobody wants to play PvE where you only beat the mobs at each encounter 50% of the time. In reality, I don’t think this is even possible to design but in theory it doesn’t sound particularly fun.

The last criticism of that thought is that wanting more pvp-like combat comes from a fundamental misunderstanding of why people play PvE at all levels. Sure a person with a WvW or PvP background might wish pve was more like PvP since it would relate the gamemode to their skillset and the combat that they like. However, from a game design perspective this is no what most PvE’ers want. PvE players want to feel powerful: big attacks, big spells, flashy animations etc. PvE players want the mobs they fight to feel significantly more powerful than themselves. For a PvPer the best fights are ones where you fight an opponent of equal skill level that is like a cat and mouse chessmatch. In PvE the best fights are a group coming together to utilize synergies to defeat epic scale powerful bosses, whose mechanics do not look like human players in any regard. I think if more of the people making requests for “more pvp-like combat” understood what the audience wanted they would understand why their request makes little sense.

Actually I didn’t mean that sarcastically, well the “dot dot dot” part is but that’s more me stuck working in the system and not directed to anyone on the forums.

I have been poking about this fix for a month now or so internally now. Been asking to get someone in here to talk to everyone about this bug and what’s up with it but as of yet no dice. I am doing everything I can to get this resolved or some explanations for you guys.

But yeah, I have some extremely tied hands and poking with my poking stick is about all I can do because I don’t control development or production schedules or design decisions. I do take screenshots of comments and paste them into some internal emails though… And the # of live reports, and the forum links, etc. I can make a huge ruckus when it’s needed, but in general everything I do is behind the scenes and I don’t take credit or spill the beans on what occurred to get it to that point.

While I have all the answers, really I am the next thing to a walking encyclopedia of the GW2 bug DB at any time, I can’t really go around shouting what is happening one way or the other because it can change daily… and letting some things I know be known would probably result in my not working for ArenaNet anymore. That’s something that would be kinda poopy and I would like that not to happen, so I avoid it and instead just say slightly nebulous things like “soon” when I see a fix coming for the next release. One day that “soon” will have some real intent behind it. Today actually seems like a good day to “soon” some threads so…

Also yes, reading and responding on the forums is not actually part of my job. I got to a point where I just really didn’t like how you guys felt ignored in this forum and I’m trying to do something about it. I tend to only post positively and I won’t respond to all threads.

tl;dr I will keep fighting the good fight on your behalf.

I support this thread.

Lauren is going above and beyond about this and other bugs. I’ve told her personally, and I’ll say it here: I’m delighted that she is posting in our forums. Often she’s doing it because she spots a thread. And I’ll confess it, occassionaly she’d doing it because she sees my plaintive e-mails asking, “Bueller? Bueller????” and she strives to find that answer!

I hope that everyone will take on board that she will — we each will — share info when we have it and when it’s appropriate to share it.

Basically, I’m asking that despite your impatience or your irritation with a situation, despite the occasional desire to flare up, you please please do your best to stay on topic and remain respectful in your posts. Many /most of the people who contribute to this forum are not required to do so. And the forum is a much better place because they are involved! I believe we all are, or certainly should be, grateful to Lauren and the many others (like Evan, and Lawton, and Michael, and Justin, and Jeffry, and Jon, and Bobby, and Cody, and… and… ALL the peoples at ArenaNet!) who are active here. Please keep them in mind, as the nice, creative, and helpful people they are!

The old one isn’t even cold in the ground yet, and we already got another one starting

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Meta-s-and-exploits-are-killing-this-game/first#post5066646

/sigh

I am starting to think its not so much the game as it is most of the people in it that I am getting tired of.

I didn’t want to but had to reply to this cancerous Nemesis video.

*You talk about Corner stacking, yet show a record run with clearly not a single Corner stack. Then you call perma CC an exploits (after complaining last year about CC not being meta). Then you call using terrain an exploits, while this being a fricking action MMO meant to use the terrain to fight.

But you didn’t stop there, you then talk about “freezing” boss while showing a boss being chained immobilize, which is using the game mechanic in a creative way instead of just tanking and spanking.

But that wasn’t enough, you show footage of YOU in a group exploiting mossman underwater (which no meta group does) then wipe countless time at the ice elemental because your team wasn’t able to provide the support a meta group does (you joined a meta group while not being meta, you deserved a kick there just for lying)
and corner stacking in aetherblade fractal.

You also claim the meta is so easy but couldn’t show a video of yourself succeeding in this so called meta.

I could keep going on but this post is already long enough.*

Everything in his video is wrong, EVERYTHING, I’m really starting to think MMO’s aren’t for me if this is the kind of people they are made for, I would really like to see how GW2 would end up if this guy was giving any kind of control on the gameplay.

That just means more blind/aegis is needed, which makes the already heavily favored thief/guardian another step ahead of ranger/necromancer/engineer. Or if the attacks really become so fast that it’s hard to keep most blinded, the new slow becomes king, and mesmers are pretty much the only choice then (that we know of so far, other specs might get good slow applications).

The greatest freedom is the freedom not to get involved.

It’s high time that something be brought to the attention of the Puppet Masters playing this game. Though I admit to a certain amount of bitterness in this regard, I still cannot keep silent at the injustice of it all.

You see, I USED to be the Puppet Master’s favorite. Her beloved MAIN. Then she made a (yes, you got it) a WARRIOR. This warrior, this usurper, stole my place in the Puppet Master’s heart. Suddenly, instead of adventuring all over Tyria, slaying dragons, collecting materials, and more or less saving the entire known (alright, fine, the REACHABLE) world, I was cooling my (Masterwork only) heels in Divinity’s Reach.

SHE was suddenly going everywhere, doing everything. SHE got to sun herself in Southsun Cove, (all the while flirting outrageously with Lord Faren, I might add. Disgusting.) bungee jumping in Dry Top, and collecting Mordrem guts in Silverwastes. (Okay, so I’m not really jealous about the gut-collecting, but still.) It’s the principle of the thing. I didn’t get to see ANY of it except for the tiny, little first part of Dry Top because the Puppet Master’s boyfriend needed help out there, and she wanted to get rewards for something she’d already done with HER.

Guess who’s NOT wearing shiny Ascended amulets, rings, and earrings! Guess who IS wearing all the finest in Damask and Deldrimor! And don’t even get me STARTED on makeovers! I haven’t had my hair redone since sob LAUNCH! Can you believe that? How is that even remotely fair? SHE has had HER hair done 4 or 5 times already. Plus, she got a facial!

While I occasionally am let out of town whenever the daily HAPPENS to be something the Puppet Master can easily get in Queensdale or other nearby locations, I don’t get to carry around those fancy Mad Scientist tools when I do. Oh, no. I’m still slaving away with a combination of boring orichalcum ones and those ridiculous frostbitten tools that blow freezing cold snow into my face every time I use them. When I complain about this obviously unfair discomfort, the Puppet Master just smiles and says she really needs to use these frostbitten tools up because she wants more room in the bank for “more important” items. Guess who’s going to get a SECOND legendary!

As you can see by now, my fellow alts, this willful violation of my Kormir-given rights has got to be addressed. If this keeps up, I can kiss hangliding and mushroom-hopping in the jungle good-bye. (And let’s face it, as an engineer, I am the BEST one to go to the jungle and meet all those new poison-producing frog people).

Another thing. I’m not a Sylvari, (I’m a ravishing red-headed human) and even though the Puppet Master’s Sylvari is an alt, too, SHE’S been getting an awful lot of attention lately. The Puppet Master is acting like that sorry excuse for a salad is going to go see the jungle BEFORE me.

The situation is intolerable. I know I am not alone in this forced disrespect, this unfair ignoring of my full potential. How can I be expected to be all that I was created to be if the Puppet Master won’t even spend so much as a transmutation charge on me?

I say it’s time to stop standing in the character log-in screen, moving our heads from side to side, and looking like we can take on the world but never get to do more than the occasional daily or craft yet another piece of Elonian leather before being tossed back out again.

I say we, the Alts, unite! Tell me your stories of shame and pain! Take back your dignity! Together we will wrest our legendaries, ascended armor, makeovers, and right to explore the world from those snooty, spoiled Mains!

I am a very seasoned pugeoneer.

Where do I even kittening begin?
Where does one start with what appears to be the decline of the species?
Keep in mind that this is the place that I need, this is my therapy after performing countless surgeries, many of which were sadly unsuccessful and resulted in the loss of the patient. It’s very emotional ok.

First I’m going to outline the source of the disease. Then we’ll move on to susceptibility, disease vectors, early symptoms and treatment. Keep in mind that the further a patient is into the disease, the more terminal it is which is why I’ve lost countless people on the operating table that is zerk only LFG pugging.

Many people, including myself from time to time, have a hard time comprehending how a patient’s logic becomes so twisted. What was one thinking when he traited strength in numbers and placed signet of judgement on his bar? Well I’m here to tell you the sad truth. Many don’t think much past ‘this sounds good and I like the idea of it’ and this is something that you will find commonly in new players. That’s fine. The problems are the ones that have been around a long time, and continue to think this way. How did it get this way for them? Well it started with that mentality, and then it stopped there. They did not progress. Much like an underdeveloped fetus, this is the extent of their abilities. They have and always will, play whatever makes them feel special and good, even if it is clearly a detriment to the team. I call this foggy eye syndrome, their eyes are so clouded with snowflakes that they cannot see the destruction they are causing around them with their headshot rifle, staff guardian builds etc. They will also happily join meta only parties and insist they are contributing, often convincing themselves that they are playing the biggest and most important role in the party and/or carrying zerk bads hard.

Then you have the people I like to call metabaddles. They got their build off metabattle and haven’t bothered to think about if it’s actually good or not. While metabattle is currently (trying?) to correct their awful dungeon builds, some are still out of date and sadly once a person becomes infected via metabattle, they don’t return to the site to see if there’s a better build or an update. So you have people from aeons ago running these awful builds, thinking they’re doing the right thing, and because these builds with awful traits and weapon sets had zerker gear, they think this is the best build possible and really good for zerk only/meta only parties. When questioned, they become immediately defensive and start claiming that metabattle is the one true god and will be kitten ed if anyone insults their prized deity. Concurrently we have the youtube ‘community’ who jump onto any ‘popular’ channel and immediately think that because a build has lots of likes and views it must be showcasing the best, most efficient build out there, I mean come on, since when can lots of people be wrong together?!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonestown

As for vectors, along with the sources we also have word of mouth. This is especially prevalent in large guilds guilds with lots of people. Everyone’s got an opinion and no actual facts. They get their bad builds from above sources and then spread it like wildfire throughout their guild members, this in turn is transmitted when they get out into the pug parties and start telling new players to run these awful builds, as they are the best. A common warning sign as an example, is watching a nomads guard continually congratulate himself on a slow run, by saying that his party members never got downed, and spam pinging his skills at what he perceives to be important moments that he alone is controlling. The new player is easily impressed by this and will take interest in running that build.

What is your most hated build?

Early symptoms: These are very easy to spot and I’m sure your average player has encountered these cringe worthy moments many times. The patient will often start with innocent questions, such as ‘is p/p thief any good? Does staff on guardian do the most damage?’ Of course the answer is no, but then the patient will keep asking the question until they get the answer they want, all it takes is one person (usually someone else who is infected) to agree with them and say what they want to hear which is ‘yes, this build is good’ for that person to then become infected too. They will then cling to that notion and completely ignore anything else. Often times they will take to forums with these awful builds and seek further confirmation, completely tunnel-visioning through any rational argument and looking for anyone willing to give them a pat on the back and tell them it’s a job well done. This in a way, is much like a person with 2 voices in their head. A small whisper says ’it’s bad’ but a strong voice bellows ‘ITS A GOOD BUILD’ over and over until the small doubtful voice is quelled. Seeking confirmation from others is important in making sure that small doubtful voice kittens off and is never heard from again.
Treatment is extremely reliant on the stage of the disease that the person is in. For example, someone with 15k AP and a bunch of legendaries running a staff AH guardian with bloodlust stacks and a bunch of shouts is a hell of alot harder to cure than someone with a couple hundred AP and a thrown together build of whatever he thinks might work because he doesn’t know any better. Remember that ignorance is not part of the illness and is perfectly excusable, however self denial is a huge problem and often results in the terminal diagnosis. If one wished to treat these patients it must be done with care. Show them the difference, ask them to try some things, work them into it slowly. The realisation of what they’ve been doing wrong will be an epiphany that will hit them like a bucket full of bricks.

For those poor souls that fail to see the light.. The p/p thieves, the warrior stacked heavy only parties, the bearbows, the staff camping guards etc etc. Take comfort in knowing that not everyone can be saved, feel good about the ones that you did *sheds tear *

Today, on arah, I met a venom share thief.

We were waiting at the typical stealth point:

Me: “smoke field, pls”.
Thief: “no, I am a venom share thief”.
Me:“omg”
Then thief explained what a venom share thief is…

I think all of us raced for the kick button.

Learn not to rely on thief/ or pug for all that matters

If players are gonna be that stubborn and not use the actual useful stuff their class has available. Then they should just roll a necro so they actually have an excuse to be totally useless. I have no sympathy for people that refuse to use the tools that their class was blessed with.

/end angry necro rant

Pugs meh. Never rely on them but its still frustrating at times.

When fractals were released, didn’t they praise it because it allowed them to more easily expand compared to dungeons?

Disambiguation:

LAURELS

  • Laurels were earned by completing the daily and monthly and are now gained by logging in.
  • It will be possible to get more laurels in the new system in 28 days than it was in 28-31 days before (Max of 55 available now, max of 38-41 available before). Obviously, this calculation excludes laurels from achievement milestone chests.
  • At various stages during the 28 days, a player will be either behind or ahead in laurel acquisition compared to the old system.
  • A greater percentage of the total available laurels are back-loaded. In the old system, a greater percentage were front-loaded because 25% were from the monthlies, which could be completed in as little as one day.
  • Before, if one completed every daily and the monthly and played 27 days in a 30 day month, one was out 3 laurels. Now, one would be out the 20 laurels in the Chest of Plentiful Laurels available as a choice on Day 28. However, one would only be out 2 laurels compared to the old system (37 then v. 35 now).

ACHIEVEMENT POINTS

  • AP’s were earned at the rate of 1 AP per one task, with a daily cap of 12 and a monthly cap of 100. Total AP in a 30 day month before was 460, and is currently 300.
  • Minimum AP rewarded assuming total completion every day in a 30 day month before was (30×5)+100=250. Currently it would still be 300. There is no difference in AP totals for completing more than the minimum tasks needed for completion.

OTHER REWARDS

  • The other old daily rewards were Karma, XP, Mystic Coin, Luck and a chance at a Gem Store item. These rewards were tied to daily completion (5 tasks). Now, all but the XP aand Karma are tied to daily login. XP is part of the login rewards but is also available in the new rewards.
  • These rewards are not awarded daily. Instead, they are awarded a few times in each 28 day cycle.
  • If one logs in all 28 days, one will be likely to get more gem store items, will get more XP and luck and will get a lot fewer Mystic Coins with the new system.

NEW REWARDS

  • The reward chests for the daily tasks are a new reward system. Karma and XP are in at least some of the chests, along with other rewards (Wintersday stuff right now, crafting materials, WXP, etc) that were not part of the old daily rewards.

THE TASKS

  • Before, each daily would present 12 tasks. 2 were WvW specific, 2 were sPvP specific. The remaining 8 could include some that were PvE specific. The rest were more generic (could be earned in most PvE zones and in WvW).
  • In the old system, there were 12 daily tasks. There are still 12 daily tasks.
  • Of the 12 tasks available now, there are 4 tasks each for PvE, WvW and sPvP. Like it or not, this system favors no one mode whereas the old system favored PvE only players.
  • Three tasks are now required for completion versus the old five tasks.
  • The PvE tasks are less generic. Before, it was possible to get the daily reward playing in most PvE zones — though there were occasional days where this might not be possible.

Thanks for the breakdown

I agree — that’s really helpful information. Thanks, IndigoSundown!

So, where’s that “fix” that was supposedly withdrawn?

/crickets

You can actually prevent it by not selling the dungeons!

Oh, what wonderful advice. Perhaps you should add that OP could avoid it by not playing the game, because it’s clearly their fault for putting themselves in a spot where they could be griefed. Actually, it’s OP’s fault for existing. This could have been prevented if OP didn’t exist. For shame.

Carried Players

I’m getting a little bored of reading the same kitten.
QQ meta players just stack and dps 2 win
QQ no strategy just pure dps
QQ you not l33t you just dps.

If you think a full zerker team can be semi-afk in a dungeon and autowin, then you got carried. You were basically told to just bring dps because they didn’t consider you good enough to be trusted with anything important.

The trinity of
CC
DPS
Support
is very heavily used, and relied upon in small group content.

“ohh boss is dead before he could attack us, no fun QQ”
Did you know someone probably frost bow #5’d or a warrior used mace #5 so the boss didn’t hit you?
Did you know a thief just blinded the mob, or a guardian used zealots defense, timed perfectly?

“it doesn’t matter how long it takes, I still get my loot”
Yes, but you could take 10 minutes, instead of 20, and do something else taking 10 minutes too! ohh, you got twice as much loot? awesome!

“I’m still alive and your not!!”
yeah, but in 10s I did more damage than you did in 2 minutes. If you had the same dps, I wouldn’t be running out of “oh-kitten” buttons.

Very inclined to tell the next person who gives me some excuse along these lines to go get punted like phlunt. – Then again they may not be good enough to do LS and have no idea how fun it is to hate phlunt.

/rant

“pug” is often used as an insulting term. Could we rename them “phlunt”?

In northwest Tyria
Rolled and levelled
Lion’s Archs’ where’s I spent most of my festivals
Chillin out, min-maxing, relaxing all cool
Shooting some fireworks outside of the portals
When a couple of Dragons, eating magic as food
Started making trouble in my neighbourhood
I got in one lil’ Pact and my Guild Leader got scared
She said “You’re moving with your Bank and TP in LA.”

I whistled for a pug and when it came near
The run description said Zerk and it had AP8000+ in the name
If anything I could say that this pug was not rare
But I thought ‘Nah, forget it’ – ‘Yo, homes to Citadel of Flame’

I pulled up to the dungeon about 7 or 8 thousand times
And I yelled to the necro ‘Yo homes smell ya later’
I looked at my Legendary
Unicorns through the air
To sit on my throne as the fabulous Princess of Guild Cares

Logan Thackeray is Zhaitan

First off, this is just fun silly theories, so enjoy yourselves. Also if you havent done Arah story, kinda spoiler…

As we all know, Logan stayed behind to let everyone get away, and more likely than not, he would not survive. We also know Zhaitan’s minions can make other minions appear alive, as well as act exactly as they would, should they still be alive. If you don’t understand, think back to all the Orrian Mesmers.
After Zhaitan got Logan, at that moment he learned everything Logan knew (In theroy Zhaitan was actually smarter than most asura, depending on who he corrupted) and with his knowlege of the pacts plan, he put most if not all his focus into Logan, and left the big dragon, fairly mindless.
Just think, a near omniscient dragon, who is capable of strategy, and knowing full well the Pacts plan and intent, would fly directly into their greatest weapon, without a back-up plan.

That plan, was Logan Thackeray…

Ok, so how does this work. Do I have to hit a key board button to remove the condition, or is it done automatically??? I just don’t understand the whole “spend one bar of adrenalin” thing. I thank you in advance.
