A Charr, that weights 10-20 times more then an asura, has the same physical response but a mount that probably has just 2 or 3 times more the weight of a Charr must have a super idiotic fuzzy movement, sure.
Arguing/defending about physical correctness and realism in a video game about a point that never been a topic in 5 years, in a world where magic exists, trees are a playable race and asurian objects floating the air – I sometimes have no words when I look down at this community.

The question here is, what do you want the mounts to be? Do you want them to be a speed buff with a nice skin or do you want them to feel like riding a mount?

I guess the answer to this question for most people, is not the speed buff. Otherwise the feedback to the mounts would be not that positive. Some negative response to the mounts ( like yours ) boils down to just wanting a skinned speed buff like in the other mmos.

Mount skills alone are not enough to be considered as something uniqe, too bad.

Agree, Raptor movement is perfect, has weight like it’s supposed to, if they simplify it’s movement because of qq, I will hardly use it again.
And also the less Waypoints the better, Maps feel mora alive and promotes exploration.
GW2 players got too lazy with all the WP’s.

You may have not thought of it, but mounts delay is a deliberate design mechanic as it makes you feel the “weight” of the creature. And I’m 500% sure that the devs wont change a core, intentional, good design (making you feel that you are riding vs just increasing you chars speed and give you a jump skill with a skin of a mount below you) or the location of the expa just because you don’t like them. There is a sad thing in life and its that you cant make everyone happy.

PS: And feedback -opposed to just plain opinion- is only worth if it CAN be used to refine the actual product/service.

It’s a non-issue, because the mounts feel great, imo. Oddly enough, they’d be a lot more generic if they controlled 1:1 like characters do on foot.

The thread is there to post your first impressions and not about to argue about.
I ordered the deluxe edition Im kittening kittened off about what Im about to get here. And I dont give a kitten if you dont like it or not because its my money that I want to have back and not yours. Get it.

This is barely a problem, since it can turn pretty tightly, and it gives more of a ‘carving’ kind of feel to it, like you’re actually riding a creature that’s faster than you.

You could also just dismount whenever you need to turn sharply and mount up again, since it’s instant to dismount and mount, just a 1 second CD.

This is the worst possible answer I could have expected, especially the 1st line.

It also appears as a minor thing but actually you are going to work with mounts for 100s of hours. And thats just the first impression I have from the addon. If the rest is more related to wow and other generic trash, then good night.

The first impression I have is very negative. If mounts will stay in that condition I will create a ticket to refund my purchase because I dont want to play the addon anymore then.
The movement in gw2 always been precise like a razor blade and now you come and release a movement mechanic that is slow and lethargic like driving a truck pulling 40 tons of weight.
I hate it. I simply hate it. Not to mention deserts are the least location I wanted to have for a setting.

Actually Ive never seen anyone using Plague lands in PvP. Most seem to stick with Chill to the Bones and Personally I also wouldnt pick it as well.

I main Thief that season again and must say it can be great but its a twisted blade.
It really depends on the tank ability / dmg output over time of the rest of your team.
Had a couple of teams that got crushed in the period of time where I was capping the close point. You cannot outrotate such opponents that have time to chase you with 3 people while trying to decap far.

So many numbers, so much bla bla. At the end of the day I barely to never play Raids since I had a break and dont have 5000 LI that I can post.
With over 7 sets and 20+ asc weapons it was not possible for me to find reliable groups because of this bullcrap.
And that is the actual problem why not enough playing Raids imo.

I have found only 1 topic the past 10 sides about 40 farm and it was a fail “WR” video.
There seem to be a massive amount of inexperienced players that join these farming parties nowadays and I found it useful to make some guiding videos since they also join my parties way too often ._.

You may watch this and orient here. And no, copypasting Chrono rotations from Raids doesnt work that good for quick bursts.

Best comp I figured out for myself is 2 Temps, Chrono, PS War, Druid. Thief/Guard can technically also do well but its hard to find good one these days despite the fact that this farming requires literally 0 skill.

Still wonder why anet refused to nerf Unrelenting Assault, that has an unlimited gap closer range and can follow a Mesmer thru a portal over a 4000+ range effortlessly.
Worst balanced class ingame when it comes to the mechanic. Still.

I they shouldn’t. We’d that I love dumping Revs in a stranded area with Mesmer portal it is so great to strand them away from a contested node and such.

You misstaken something here. I was taking this example to show how poorly this skill was designed. The thing is that it can nullify every single skill that is meant to disengage. And dont your dare to tell me that a super quick gap closer chain without any limitations is not out of every sanity. And I didnt even mention the evasion..

Let’s make something new: A video with in game music and a normal character. I am pretty sure that thin anime-like ladies aren’t the only played characters by speed runners/solo players.

From my perspective that “thin anime-like (wtf?) ladies” are best to control, especially with jumping puzzles and other movement oriented areas. Charr are sometimes too heavy and I sometimes had problems with that. Same goes with Asura, but I also hate these disgusting looking rats that are supposed to be .. funny.
If you have faced some movement issues you might stick with a character that doesnt have this issues.

tl;dr

Im playing DH since its very rewarding. Never had any intentions to play Guard before HoT came out because it was too defensive. Traps were a massive problem since the beginning and is (imo) the worst game design this game has ever had.

Test of Faith’s damage was down patched 2 (!!) times in order get some kind of balance here.
I still think the guy in charge for that should not be allowed to design any game mechanic ever again. Heck, I will not buy another addon if the next will end with the same unbalanced desaster like we had on HoT.

However, Im currently playing condi Warrior as well and Ive noticed that one of my biggest problems is the insane amount of blindness application. I looks like the Guard blocks so often but in fact you simply often miss because of blindness state.
That would be my first intention to rebalance because you dont need to touch the DH core mechanic that much then.

As a DH I must say I didnt met many Chronos that actually were a problem. But I would like to see that GS shatter types getting more featured again and that Mantra of Distraction gets reworked since things like stability/stun breaks/blocks are too often available and that good old timing with MoD is barely working nowadays.

That is literally the best idea Ive ever seen.
Dont team up and block just everybody.

Its not like there is a playerbase of like a few 1000 which currently playing over the day.
I had 6 of 7 matches the same weirdo goy who wandered around like a true champion.
Was it because the playerbase is so small that you have to bother with the same garbage over and over and over […]? No! It was because are secretly love each other and the very active support of anet figured it out very quickly and putted us together manually!

-ranger pets suck enormous gorilla kitten and should be buffed in dmg at 200% and 3 times more daze for druid please
-guards should be able to stack their traps infinitely because 2x initial dmg from test of faith cant even kill white trash mobs
-Revenant is completely balanced and its a pleasure to play the addon op cancer which forces ppl to buy your kitten this well designed masterpiece
-Warrior is too op at every aspect and please nerf the adrenalin generation and get another f1 skill for hammer because its too much meta and everyone plays it because its so good
-chrono needs more blocks because its not annoying yet
-engineer needs moar protection and stability please and make boon duration 50% longer

Honestly I find that not so bad if this would go for the Berserker abilities with a little adjusted skill dmg.
I was thinking just today that one the major aspects why warrior is weak atm is that there are too many blocks and Signet of Might has far too much cd to sacrifice it for something else.

Staff 5 needs a precast time of at least 3/4 sec with a visible effect.

That would defeat the purpose of the skill as an interrupt though and already has a long cooldown. It should also keep its evade because lots of abilities are AoE traps and its use as an evade gives it counterplay.

A simple interrupt without any casttime should not be able to saw half of your hp down.
The skill is just op because it has too many benefits in all directions.

Last time I’ve read this was when DHs tried to explain me 9k test of Faith is balanced.

Rev needs an allround nerf. The ability to have longer quickness as with a timewarp, the elite skill with 98530503 years cooldown, (we are speaking of 1 tw with pvp settings, basicly no bonus stats in concentration), and some other things are just a nightmare. Not to mention sword #3 which has likely infinite gap closer range. A skill that can chase you at maxium portal range (5000?!) is what the devs actually call ‘balanced’..

Staff 5 needs a precast time of at least 3/4 sec with a visible effect. It can deal more dmg as DHs True Shot, has one of the strongest cc you can have in pvp, and has invul for 1 sec.

Rev is just the overfeeded beloved child which has been created to force ppl to buy the addon. When the next comes, you can count me out. Im definitively not going to bother this mindless upgrade cancer one more time.

Just to make a point sure: I find the design of the wings is great in general.

But it’s not what the npc in the PvP lobby “promised” me.
Here is the major point what’s wrong with it:
The wings are not wide spreaden when you are not in combat.

The major point is that a lot of weapon costs over 1000g nowadays and 2hand weapons are worn at the back of the character.
So the wings, like almost every other backpack, cover the sprite of the weapon where I personally find it questionable to buy very expensive weapons which i cannot see on my character when I’m not in combat.

When I saw that wings at the model, I was literally peeing my pants that you finally provided me a skin which looks good and were I finally can wear Hammers, Longbows or whatever I want without wasting my gold for skins which I cannot see while running or just standing. (which is 99% the case if you are trying to watch your own character closely)
I don’t really like the design of ad infinitum, so this is not an option for me and this also doesn’t harmonize with any of my charaters.

The ad infinitum wings are also permanently wide spreaden as well as every other wing in this game, so why must the ascension be like this? Whyyy?

Pvp better without Elite Specs?

Elite specs and some other things such as the new ranger pets made pvp to a catastrophy regarding the balancing aspect.
Beating mobs in PvE with dozens of millions of HP and PvP with players who have 20k hp cant work with well with the same mechanics. I want a completely separated enviroment mechanic for both aspects since years.

A retro-mode would be nice with the mechanics from stats of the last update before the addon came out but this wont happen since non-addon owners would profit. Woooooo

Back in the days I used to play 25/30/0/0/15 “railgun” d/d Thief as well and around 85% of all encounters ended up in a one-shot. With max bloodlust stacks and Force/Night I achieved 4~5k Steal and 6~8 C’n’D on other Thieves which was enough to proc the Executioner trait and ended up in a 15~18k Backstab without the need to use AS.
With Shadow Step+Steal you can achieve a gap close over a distance of 2000+ which is why I ended most fights before they began.

By all means but nothing has changed with nerfing Steal. The reason why this doesnt work anymore is that people using proper gear nowadays (at least some of them..) and d/p Thieves learned to use Pistol #5 earlier which interupted the combo by a miss thru blind.

So, did the nerf changed things in this specific case? Barely. Consider we are still talking about a 2~3k nerf in a 25k+ combo.
Do non-railgun builds suffer from under this change? Yes.

I think the dev wanted to let the d/d focus more on conditions which is a okay because d/d as zerk mode turned out pretty much helpless once 2 C’n’D missed and you are out of Initiative.
But on the other hand condition based Thieves suck balls really hard.
The missing ability to have a venom which inflicts burning is obsolete. Instead there is 1 that gives immobilize and another one gives chill. Its not like they almost do the same, not to mention stun and immob often have the same effect if its applied via Steal because daze procs traits to encounter being disabled anyways.
Furthermore Venoms, basicly toxic liquids, dont give Poison by nature which is the biggest joke ever.
And the only use of Offhand-Dagger is to get access to Death Blossom. Using #4 is a complete waste on every single spec right now in terms of cost/use especially if you consider how many classes have immunity/heavy duration reduce with traits.

But I dont expect anything from the guy who is charge for Thief balancing. He clearly proofed several times that he is biggest kitten in the team of anet since the beginning.
In relation to this are Traps from DH are still far too viable for the effort you get from (press 3 buttons, wait, bait someone, press another 3 buttons to proc dbl traps, woohoo..).

Sounds like someone is kitteny because he cannot play as tanky as he used to in the last months and bunker without any kind of effort.

What I still would agree with is that the heal scaling stuff is garbage.

Revenant with full berserker gear and full DPS build vs Thief with same armor/traits.

Dagger AA DPS – 6k!!!!!
Sword AA DPS – 4.6k
Staff AA DPS 4.7k

Sword AA DPS 3.2k !!!

I didnt bother reading more comments because it is an absolute joke to aruge with a class that can generate up to 10 secs quickness and has a kittenton of other skills which makes it completely useless to compare AAs with each other.

Burning is one of the reasons why many things became very unbalanced. We can see it, especially in all PvE contents, how every condition class which cannot apply burning has massive problems to compete in dps.

Topic name says it and I think most of you know what I want to say:

Please give us access to a completely isolated enviroment with the mechanics of the latest patch before Heart of Thorns was released!

Since the patch came out some classes broke in balancing as much as on the date the game was released and I personally think it will take very long to fix it.

I dont really want to cry here because if I read just a couple threads Im done already, so..
But in all honesty, my personal game experience was completely destroyed when the addon came out. Its not just that some classes are too op or something, its the complete system which I absolutely disagree with. PvP needs separated enviroment mechanic since years but I dont see this will even happen.

I used to play a lot PvP back in the days but didnt enter a single match since Nov 5th and Im not planning to change it in the way things currently are.

So this would mean basicly:
-no Revenant
-old fashioned condition application (no burning stacking)
-no elite specialisation

Any thoughts? Please keep it calm.

Just a little impression from me:

20s for something that requires 28 dailies should be worth a little more then 2 Fractal Encryptions (current worth), dont you think so?

I know its used to craft/mix(/whatever you want to call it) the legendary backpack but Im not interessted at this backpack and like to make more money from it. Also, players will do fractals in 2 months still and some have their 3rd, 4th or 15th Fractal Journal finished then and dont need for it anymore.

Just a little side note for the hopefully coming fractal patches. Thx for reading.

And no, traps are meant to lay them hidden, so people run into them without knowing that.

Whoever is in charge for Thief and Guardian balancing needs to be fired. He seems to hate his job.
But hey, nothing will be changed as long as there are enough scrubs who yell “l2p” under every comment.

Also when I play DH, I never see True-shot doing over 6k damage. Keep on exaggerating. Oh wait, maybe that guys has 25 mights on him and you have 25 vulnerable on you. Make sense.

Also I still see thieves do some nice spike within 1.5 secs if you’re not fully awared, and downed if you don’t react with your stun-break/invulnerable in 1.5 sec.

Marauder is nothing but a cut at your balls and techically 6k more HP means a kitten when there is no real mechanic to use to overtake the control of a fight after a while because that would require dmg pressure which you only can draw on very unskilled opponents atm.
A bit more jumping around just stretches the time but it doesnt really change things in long term.

And It was at the beginning of a match where I recieved that shot when teams entered a choke point. Didnt even have had melee contact. It didnt seem the team knew what to do and no one joined groupwise in this match.
The fact that YOU never have seen more then 6k doesnt mean it is impossible because that would imply your knowledge is allsurrounding but its fairly not, k?

I also dont really understand the cry around warrior tbh. No matter what cls Im playing, I have massive problems when he brings the juggernaut elite. That being said Im not playing mesmer pretty much which I assume as the only viable counter for it.
Ive seen a lot people arguing with “just try to disengage” when the topic was present and it stucked at this answer but what the heck is that for a way to reply? No one has 20 secs to give it to someone. Dash hits ppl for 7k and most skills cc. If you arent able to overtake the control of the fight in this time you should stop playing pvp in general.

Smartplay surely can encounter the warrior at some point but what I see mostly is that this class is the 2nd biggest noob sponge in this game after ranger. Literally everybody has one.
It deals a kittenton of dmg and its up to you to use it properly. I personally think warrior, how it is now has the best balance so far except for that kittena faceroll rifle shots. The thing is just that other classes recived too much many buffs/upgrades. And at that point it turns to nothing but a joke that war and thief players cry each other who is the biggest loser in this current state because no gives a kitten who it is. Its like a fight between 2 kittenroaches in a dark cave while other classes enjoy watching it and set bets who will win (plot twist: cant be a winner).

Last note:
I often have read how warrior players were disappointed by the berserker because they expected huge leaps and new superduper fancy ways to apply like 9485390% more dmg like other classes had but in reality it wasnt really necessary because the class never been so low tier especially when it comes to dmg like as you want us to sell it here.

Btw am I the only one who felt extremly betrayed when I read that Assasins presence was given to revenant instead of thief?

Its not possible for me to dodge Guardians “True Shot” in PvP while a trap is activated due to this unnecessary lightning effect.

And why does Revenant need an extra animation even on dodge?
