Two major problems with the TP as it stands today:
1) The default price when selling junk is entirely too low, and people just end up listing things for 1 copper more than the vendor price. There is no interesting economy there. There’s no undercutting, no buyouts, no manipulating the market, no price wars, absolutely nothing that would otherwise make an MMO economy interesting because it is an item that no one wants to buy. So they get put up at bargain basement prices.
The 15% tax? If someone wants to clear up inventory space immediately, they can simply put it on the market. People just starting the game are probably rolling with 8 slot bags max. They fill up pretty quick during dynamic events. If they don’t want to risk it not selling at all, they can put it up for cheaper than a vendor if they feel like it. The person who buys it can then run to a vendor to sell it and profit—but the kicker is that he did a teeny weeny bit of legwork in going to a vendor—and made a teeny weeny profit.
Why is everyone so concerned about items selling at 1c over the vendor price? No one wants them. If it was a higher price, no one would buy them. You wouldn’t make more money. It is simple supply and demand here…
Crafting cooldowns which give us some room to make a profit based on time.
They need to add some crafting items on cooldowns. Being able to make 1 item every 24 hours as a 400 crafter would allow us some income.
I’ve caught some pretty good deals by using the refresh button and making quick purchases. I like the global economy.
im a Jew / Cook
So no 80 orange armor for me
Not the best abbrev. usage there.
Worthless items are worthless. They fetched a decent bit of silver before the TP because people actually had to put work into buying/selling. Now, when your bags are full and you are stuck in a dynamic event for 45 minutes you can put stuff on the TP to free up bag space.
There is a guild recruitment forum as well. Try there yet?
Man, I just turned 25 and for some reason the fact this guild is 25+ makes me happy. Finally my age has a meaning past 21. Thank you old people guild for making me feel special again.
115/4 = 28.75 dps
200/7 = 28.57 dps
571/10 = 57.1 dps
1713/30 = 57.1 dps
I would guess the 57.1 dps ones just count as 2 stacks. (57.1/2=28.55)
Exploit, botting. You say potato I say potahto.
Another effective way that I did it for even cheaper:
Buy the rare carrion mithril inscription, buy 15x bones, 6x mithril ingots, and 2x imbued dowels. Craft the carrion mithril greatsword (called krait something). There was tons of orders for 20s+ buyers and it cost about 21-22s to make.
Keep in mind that as soon as these numbers are introduced, the game will probably go into the OMGTHEORYCRAFT mode.
Vendor Fodder + AH = Gold = Useful Gear for your character though?
Seems pretty crazy that he wasn’t looting. The “F” button looting in this game seems like it would actually make things a lot easier for them to program.
until the barrier ends :P
There is a perfect spot for this where you can cast it off the top of the wall while having plenty of time to watch and run away when its over. It really never gets old.
As for looking for botters, any time you see an exact pattern, its probably a bot. If you report them, ANET will probably send them a message asking a question to verify if it is a real person, or look at their activity during the time in question. Report people you suspect of botting, and then let the jury decide.
If I was in a pickle where my inventory was full and I was out of salvage kits, I could see myself putting something on the TP for below vendor price just to prevent having to destroy it for something more valuable.
I don’t feel like I can kill anyone with my scepter or staff, but I have the most fun setting up barriers on bridges. Wait for their entire team to start pushing against you, pop a barrier on the bridge, and watch about 50 people run into it and fall down. SO.MUCH.FUN.
Also wanted to note—
I expected all of my money/gear/everything to be stolen. Either they only stole my UnID’d dyes, and all the green/rare items in my bank (leaving my characters weapons/etc alone), or they were restored by ANET. I was under the impression that ANET didn’t do item restores?
This should probably be posted in another forum, but I’ll respond since I dealt with this issue last week (took about 6 days total).
After about 3 days they sent me that same response, but they did eventually change my email back after I told them they had changed it. There are a few things they should have done for security:
Security questions. The guy in France who stole mine wouldn’t have known my mother’s maiden name probably. I say probably because a keylogger may have stolen my ID from a gaming website or something, but not many things also have security questions.
A reset to default email option. Once they change your email, there shouldn’t be a reason you can’t revert it within a few hours or something. If anything this would reduce the chances of people selling accounts probably too.
Getting to 80 and unlocking all of your skills/weapons/armor available makes a big difference in WvWvW though. SPvP is fun, but it has been done to death. I prefer the huge battles and the options of buying trebuchets and siege weapons since this wasn’t available in another big name MMO coughcough
What I found works best is looking for events with massive spawn rates. Just find the zerg of people and AoE tag as many mobs as you can for exp. It’s also pretty effective for farming mats/gold as well.
