I run around with a 20/20/0/25/5 build for everything and use GS and Sword/Sword.
For Lupicus I swap my traits slightly and gnab Inspiration III shatters grant vigor and I feedback on rezzing for phase 2.
In Phase 1, group up and bubble, when you see the grub pop up (or the green stuff indicating who it is on), use 4 and 2, then shatter and you won’t have grub problems. Use 3 to help on grub/locusts but it seems to be best if others focus grub.
Phase 2, scatter, spam clones. To evade the aoes of doom, just dont backpedal, turn around and run instantly, you should already be nearly max range to buy time. If you can’t get out of one, dodge, if dodge is down, blink, if blink is down, distortion, if you have no clones, weapon swap 2 or 4. Feedback bubble on rez is nice and helpful here.
Phase 3, swap to sword/sword and go hit the boss, you can tank just fine with 2 and 4 and just blink out when he does hiis big aoe.
Basically, make sure you are always using your distortions and invluns as a mesmer, I run full zerkers and die pretty rarely.
Sorrows Embrace light armor gear has different token costs then all the other armor gear on that vendor AND all other light armor gear on the other dungeon vendors.
The costs are just jumbled aroun. For example, the SE Light Pants are only 180 as opposed to 300, while the SE Light Shoulders are 300 as opposed to the typical 180.
It totals out to the same amount of tokens, but its odd that this is the only place it is different.
The Weaponsmith in LA sells them for karma
wait.
You ran with 4 other competent players and it was a breeze. You then ran with 4 other less competent players and got owned… whats the problem here?
I garuntee it was not the gear, had those first 4 been with you and in rares or whatever you would have done fine.

you just ran into bad people, what about all the people that were just fighitng along side of you and didnt say aything bad to you etc.
You are taking the 3 instances of someone saying to do something different, which could be totally viable if they are coordinating on TS or something (except the first one, he was just being a jerk). And if you don’t want to be part of the overall strategy, just ignore them and continue doing what you are doing.
All the other people treated you just fine, if you are going to let 1/50th the population turn you off you should probably re-evaluate how you weigh others comments.
Points is not what causes servers to give up. The other servers having nearly 100% of the entire map is what causes servers to give up. Most servers give up before the point differential is insurmountable, they are stopping once they have been beat back and hold almost nothing anymore. Pride instead of points would not change this at all, while adding the downside of silly things like not defending, or not attacking to deny the other side potential pride once you are ahead.
There really is nothing to be done to prevent servers from giving up. If they control nothing, people just arent going to try anymore until reset. The only thing that MIGHT help this is some sort of buff for the losing side that makes them stronger the less points they are holding on the maps. But that has flaws too and would seem quite unfair if it ever created a turn around that can pretty much solely be attributed to the losers being buffed ><.
heck, Id pay $10-$15 for a tiara with glittering particle effects.
basically what I was thinking, just seems kind of random timing for it to kick in and steadily sink. Mayhaps its mostly related to the server hoppering.
So the last ~2-3 days have seen ori, ancient wood and gossamer steadily dropping. Any idea why?
They dont come as soon as you kill previous. Its just timed waves.
Kill first group, run to boss, kill boss. Run to next boss while killing spawns, kill boss.
I STILL don’t get this. The cost is like what, 3s on average? Are you guys just TPing everywhere to see whats going on or something?
If you TP somewhere, kill a few enemies, boom, ou made your 3s back.
Sorry lonewolf, but you are being really dense here. You think that it should be easier to get because YOU want it to be easier so YOU can get it with less effort. Wanting more for less is most certainly an entitlement issue.
Terrahero, it is a journey, its only a grind because you make it one. I’m well on my way towards my legendary and I haven’t done any grinding. I’m doing some WvW, taking my time exploring the entire world for my 100% completion. Running the exploreable dungeon paths for my tokens, but also running the ones my friends want too. Playing the TP to make some extra money for my runestones. I’m having a ton of fun on my way to getting the legendary because I enjoy playing thekittengame. If you don’t like the game and feel it is too grindy, don’t play it.
He didn’t teleport there instantly. He stealthed past the guards so he could go dance and troll you. He can do NOTHING to you in that area as you are invulnerable.
They are using the matching code, look at the sticked thread with world standings (assuming its been updated) and see they are matched correctly.
The problem is that the losing servers simply give up
. Free transfers certainly isnt helping either.
1. They haven’t stopped transfers to the high pop servers
Really they just need to get out of this free transfer phase
2. They haven’t fixed the queues
Nothing to do to make them shorter, there is a cap of playres on each map, there will always be a queue.
3. They don’t have any ideas on how to stop most matches being a slaughter.
Several matches will be like this no matter what they do. Anytime a WvW focused server gets paired with non WvW focused ones it will be complete domination.
Regarding the OP. There is nothing to do about night capping… Hopefully you will end up paired up with other servers that don’t have aussies or a late night crew. Instead of just whining how about you propose a fix you think might work? Cause I got nothing. Reducing points overnight is 100% unfair to people that can only play during those time periods.
dont think its the orbs… Servers will dominate with or without them.
ya he pops up if you poke your head in some of the side rooms, pretty awesome!
Just make there be 5v5 servers and 8v8 servers. Those that want 5v5 without doign a tourney can then do it and deal with the “downsides” ANet always states. Heck keep hot join 8v8 only and make it so you have to browse the server list to find the 5v5s.
At this point I imagine it is a coding/priority thing as its abosultely silly to not at least have the option, so either their server setup system is hard to change, or they simply have more important things to do at this point and will worry about 5v5 non tourney when they do the whole pvp server overhaul.
Never knew clones can one shot me, I though its mostly for confusion so real mesmer can ditch out some crap. Wow….
It wasn’t a one shot. All the damage on that death report is accumulated. So if you get hit with attack X for 2k damage 6 times before you die, it will show attack X did 12k damage.
So what happened was he had 1-2 iSwordsman out and hitting you somewhere around 4-6 times (assuming he was glass cannon) and it totalled up to tha tmuch damage before you died.
Some bosses I like:
Arah Explore Path 3: Giganticus Lupicus. Very dangerous fight (even after apparent nerf) and requires reaction to grubs in phase 1, solid dodging in phase 2 and use of defensive cds in phase 3. Overall solid fight, though phase 3 seems to last a bit long, maybe a very slight reduction in hp to stop the last part feeling like a grind.
Arah Explore Path 3: Final Wraithlord Event. Control point holding while distracting adds works very well and is pretty engaging. Remaining boss fight is a bit easy, but the mechanics are awesome if the damage the boss does was tuned up a bit.
Some others that are similar im too lazy to list.
Bad fights:
SE Explore path 1: Final boss. Not dangerous except one move, large health pool, boring.
So you get the general idea :P. There are several great fights. A TON that have potential but need a slight up tick in damage coupled with slight decrease in boss HP. Than a couple that just suck and take a long time to kill but don’t require you to do anything at all difficult and are very very boring.
So do you get less reward the FIRST time you complete a chain for the day or just on multiple runs?
the sentries add 1 point each time you cap them.
sorry Urrelles but if you think dungeons are too hard and world events are “perfect” than a lot of people are going to disagree with you and say your just bad.
world events are a massive bore imo, you just stand around auto attacking into a monstrous health pool, woohoo!
Dungeons were slightly hard before I got better gear and learned some of the fight mechanics, but now its really easy to farm the large majority of them in no time flat. I can’t imagine them being any easier.
This has gotten really off topic.
On the original problem. There is not much to be done. We appear to have 4 very WvW focused servers, and its 3 per match, so 1 focused WvW server is going to fight 5th and 6th every week… I cant really think of a way around this at all. Outmanned buff wont really help as even with even numbers it could still be a steamroll.
They could implement a buff to the servers getting stomped a few days into the match. But that kind of takes away from it imo
.
So the tokens required are different than every other merchant. Its:
helm: 180
chest: 210
gloves: 330
leggings: 180
Shoulders: 300
boots: 180
every other vendor, and other armor types on the same vendor appear to be:
helm: 180
Chest: 330
gloves: 180
leggings: 300
boots: 180
Is this intended and gonna switch or do I need to save up more for my shoulders?
ive had plenty of large groups be on top of me before I can see anyone >< Its pretty random and I hope they fix it.
uh, you know if you just ran 50 people into a group instead of using a portal you would very likely still not see a large majority of them.
So I always assumed Runes were way better then Jewels to put in your armor. Turns out that was an incorrect assumption. Not only can you get similar/better stats from jewels, they are also waaaay cheaper than any of the good DPS runes. Here are some comparisons:
6x Ruby Orb (~14s each or ~84s for full set): 120 power, 12% crit damage, 84 precision
6x Superior Rune of the Scholar (~1.5g each or ~9g for full set): 165 power, 8% crit damage, 10% damage if near full hp.
6x Superior Rune of the Eagle (~1.5g each or ~9g for full set): 165 Precision, 8% crit damage, 5% damage vs low hp targets.
As you can see in both those cases you can spend less then 1g as opposed to almost 10g and get stats that are just as good and maybe better. This is just with a normal yellow orb. If you take an orb+ecto+orichalcum you can make it even better and get:
Exquisite Ruby Jewel (craft it or ~50s TP or ~3g for full set): 150 power, 18% crit damage, 90 Precision.
That is just straight up BETTER than any dps rune and still way, way cheaper than a full rune set. Not sure if you can socket these ones though as I dont have any.
This same thing applies to condition damage runes/gems too but the condi damge runes are alot cheaper anyways.
TL;DR: You can socket cheap jewels such as ruby orbs or exquisite ruby jewels in your armor instead of runes to save money and get better stats than the runes give.

You guys are just stuck thinking about it wrong. Statements like “When someone dies in PvP THEY SHOULD DIE” are silly. They do die when they die! Death is after stomp, not after first HP bar hits 0.
Also, it by no means makes 1v2 impossible, or degrades 1v1s to throwing rocks at eachother. If you are 1v1 and down the other guy but really low on hp yourself, just leave and wait for your heal and then finish them, that simple. 1v2, 1vX etc you just need to CC the other guy while you do the stomp.
IMO it adds a great layer to gameplay and EVERY group fight has potential for great turn around with clutch rezzes or interrupts etc.
