Huh, what do you know – surfing the forums a bit and then restarting the game fixed it. Still an annoying bug though, that video crashing the game and then re-crashing it when trying to re-enter

I was walking a new character into lions arch, the video (so annoying after the first time) tries to load (as indicated by the loading screen ending and immediately restarting)… and crash.

Trying to get an old character into lions arch now ALSO crashes the game. Characters in other maps load fine, but anyone in lions arch is unplayable now.

Just had this happen to us too – it was all the way on the edge, ported back to the center at 25% for a second or two, then ported back to the edge again. really inconvenient.

Please give us the option to change which side of the keyboard we can have those keys active on so we can use them without the discomfort..

They did – read more closely what is written above

The keys are separate, and BOTH are usable as controls. You will have to re-pick in the options, but then there will be “right shift key” in it.

The difference is that you can now select “right shift key” or “left shift key”, instead of both acting as the same button.

And I agree, this stuff should be in the change notes.

DS: map closed "not already participating"

Why is this a bug? Because I was trying to rejoin a map in which I had 200% participation. How much more do you want me to participate? By definition I would be a “player already participating”, so why not let me rejoin after checking my participation? (which IS saved, since I crashed once before and managed to get back in and still have it)

And yes, this was after one of the all-too-common crashes in DS. Mouth of Mordy died while the game was restarting, no reward for me. Just 2 wasted hours. Not even a noxious pod farm, or access to hero points. All gone.

Same error here, trying to do hearts and minds (HoT final mission) – crashed first time I tried to go in, now I’m getting that message or no message at all when trying to enter the instance.

If you have trouble with this achievement, try doing the mission with multiple people – it seems that to get the achievement, a TOTAL of 12 motes have to be collected by ALL people in the instance together. I was still seeing 2 more motes, not to mention the ones that would have been far away from me, when we all (at the same time) got the achievement notice

If I open multiple tabs with forum topics from a google search while not logged in, each of them prompts me to log in.

If I log in on one of them, that doesn’t directly affect the others.

If I reload the other tabs, thinking “I’m logged in now, it’ll recognize me”… it does so, but sends me to the forum main page. Not the topic I wanted.

That’s… really poor design. Why not let me read forum topics without logging in anymore? Or at least store the destination topic in the URL in a way that allows for “reload, check logged in status -> redirect to proper topic”.

So, tossing 500 of each snowflake into the forge got quite tedious. Same when I upgraded all my cores of one type to lodestones.

Doubleclick x4, click to forge, WAIT FOR THE RESULT, click to take, rinse and repeat.

Could we pretty please with sugar on top get a slider and/or input field to select how often we want to create a receipe in the forge?

(I bet this was requested before, but you know, forum search.)

Because this side hasn’t been voiced yet and I’ve seen the suggestion to make raids use the PvP gear+stat amulets system a few times in this thread: I personally would prefer it if the work I put into obtaining exotic/ascended gear for my characters was actually meaningful in raids too. For PvP the “everyone is on the same level statwise” makes sense to keep it fair and keep the competition skill-based, but raiding isn’t PvP.

GW2 was designed with different tiers of armor and weapons, the equipment exists with levels and rarities, and associated costs. Please don’t make this meaningless by adding content that completely ignores it without a good reason for it. Exotic gear can easily be obtained with almost any play style through gold, dungeons or WvW, and the slight advantage that those who invest the extra time and effort to craft ascended gear with 5% better stats would have won’t make or break a raid.

Some pretty interesting ideas here. I was actually spit-balling some ideas on how to address this today. This has always been something that has bothered me, too.

For example:

  • Have kits respect the existing back item flag. If you have a back item and you want to show it, hide the kit. If you don’t have a back item or choose to hide it, always show the kit. Obviously this makes it a little harder than usual to tell what kit you are using, so:
    • A nameplate icon similar to Elemental Attunements would be a good addition (I may add this regardless if we can get the art )
    • Move the kit somewhere else on your body. I know, crazy right? For example, who doesn’t like a sweet fanny-pack?

Hopefully this finally gets resolved soon, and I’ll do what I can to see that happen. Keep in mind, as Colin mentioned before, that there are some pretty beefy projects going on that are consuming our engineering time. But that doesn’t exactly mean we can’t sneak stuff in here and there .

For condition cleansing (bleeding, burning, confusion…) on ranger the best bet is the healing spring (heal skill), for warrior “shake it off”

But as tairneanach said, mostly you need to walk or dodge out of the burning ground or ghost-fire hail area

Roughly 1 million karma, or 480 laurels or 7200 fractal relics. At 40 laurels a month that’s a year. No idea how many relics you can farm daily. Also unsure how much karma you can make per hour doing events.

Assuming one wants to actually farm, relicwise:

82 relics from fractals 46+ (including the daily for 41-50)
71 relics from fractals 36+ (including the daily for 31-40)
60 relics from fractals 26+ (including the daily for 21-30)
44 relics from fractals 16+ (including the daily for 11-20)
38 relics from fractals 6+ (including the daily for 1-10)

If you do all these once, 295 relics per day… and several hours of fractals even if you have a good group (the more dredge you get, the longer :P). A good (but not godly) group will do a 46 with dredge in 1.5 – 2 hours, lower levels are faster of course.

But while doing that, one would also get decent karma since fractals give karma for doing levels below your personal reward level.

(formula from the wiki: (640 + 8 * Completed difficulty) * (Personal reward level – Completed difficulty) = Karma awarded. The “personal level – completed level” caps at 10.)

Assuming the farmer has reward level 50, he would get
4032 Karma for fractals 46
9280 Karma for fractals 36
8480 Karma for fractals 26
7680 Karma for fractals 16
6880 Karma for fractals 6

(maybe more with boosters, karma food just before finishing the last fractal, or whatnot)

You’d also get a few T6 mats dropped, though that’s at best a minor side bonus. But if you’re actually lacking obsidian shards for your legendary, fractals aren’t the worst thing to do. Especially if you have a good group, with PUGs the efficiency obviously decreases.

Necro underwater, you say? Trident obviously, and then epidemic. The rest is fairly optional, but filling one foe with conditions and then spreading them to the others around it clears underwater stuff pretty fast. Bonus if you get the enemies clumped up enough to hit more than one with the trident auto-attack

Slap a sigil of earth on that trident, and personally I recommend condi/prec/toughness for PVE exploring.

Well, I got home looking forward to a few hours of playing. This nice game, where I customized my characters with great care to look just like I like them.

This game I played quite a bit already, so most my reactions to attacks are executed semi-automatically when I see certain visual cues. You know, cues I can’t see with these huge heads.

I don’t mind an april fools prank if it’s just a minor or short-term annoyance. Some can even be quite funny. But pretty much forcing me to find something else to do for several hours when I was really looking forward to playing GW2 is not quite there.

And no, I can’t take a step back and just enjoy it. This looks just wrong, stopped being funny (to me) after a few minutes, and irritates me all the time while I try to play, so instead of relaxing I get into a bad mood. So all I can do is to take a step back and not play, and get annoyed at that.

That being said, does anyone have a clue when this will be over? Can I maybe log in after a few hours of whatever and enjoy the game again or is it until midnight… UTC? EST? something-something timezone?

Well, this was funny…

Sure, maybe it’s in the april fools spirit to annoy people, but do you really have to annoy them for hours with the SAME joke?

unless you’re going for the “no place to hide” (I think) achievement, you can just wait until kasmeer starts distracting her with clones. at that point, ATTACK SCARLET normally. Even just one hit on her (her shield drops when she kills a clone) will stop her shield from reappearing and you can stomp her freely.

Hi all,

I saw gw2dungeons.net mentioned a lot and tried to access it, but no luck. After isup.me told me it’s just me, I tried it with a proxy – and it worked, but the proxy made it incredibly awkward to use (all tabs are just displayed under each other instead of as tabs, and the page still loads slowly)

Does anybody know why this happens and maybe even how to circumvent it? or failing that, a different site with up to date dungeon information to learn some tricks I’m still missing?

Roasted meaty sandwich doesn’t count for the daily feast achievement.

I got to 23/25 with some rabbit food I had lying around, then tried to finish with the sandwiches and couldn’t. Other food (bought from random vendors in hoelbrak) then worked fine to fill it up.

Please, please make those account-bound. They were probably made soulbound back when the dungeon tokens were also soulbound – but we’ve had the tokens account-bound for ages now, there’s just no good reason to leave the runes soulbound.

GW2 is a fun game, a MMO where you have to actually keep an eye on the enemies and learn to dodge their worst attacks. That’s fun and all…

But PLEASE tell that to your programmers too! They seem to forget it every so often. The arenas during the queen’s jubilee were horrible in that regard, whenever a big character (norn or charr mostly) stood too close to the edge, the camera would zoom on his backside preventing him from seeing enough of the fight to properly dodge attacks. I thought that was a one-time error… until I fought the marionette a few times.

The platforms are MOSTLY open at the edges so the camera doesn’t stick to my back at ALL times, but today I died on the third boss because I couldn’t see anything besides my norn’s mantle and a tiny bit of scenery left and right of it. Please, please please make sure not to have camera-obstructing edges around any future arenas, platforms or whatever you want to put us into for fights.

The mechanics are ok, although overflow servers still suck big time. But if I can’t play according to the fight mechanics because I can’t see anything, all the fun is gone and frustration abounds. So please keep this in mind for future map/arena designs.

The supply dolyaks in WvW sometimes enter a special kind of displacement stealth mode: They will appear to walk slower both on the main screen and on the map. Trying to attack them where they SEEM to be leads to “out of range” messages, because they’re actually still walking at full speed and their real position is further along their path.

At some point near the end of the path their graphics and map icon will teleport to their real position, usually when they reach their destination.

I mostly encounter this in the borderlands with the dolyaks going from the western supply camp to the bay fortress.

/Edit: Just now I was able to reproduce it. Two dolyaks started from that camp at the same time. I attacked one, and the other (seemed to, see above) slowed down too – maybe that’s the key to recreating this bug

For some skill challenges, you have to defeat an NPC. The problem with that is, they sometimes reset themselves when you use invisibility during the fight – “oh, he left. guess I’ll just completely heal myself and become friendly again”. Very annoying if you’re a thief trying to use tactical strike, or any other sneak attack.

LFG Tool: joining parties drops members

A friend and me were in a 2-man party looking to do the CoF dungeon. A 3-man party was already listed in the lfg tool, so I clicked the button to fuse our parties together. He got in, but I was dropped out.

What I guess happened is that between me clicking and the game actually processing it, somebody else must’ve joined that 3-man party, turning it into a 4-man party with not enough room for both of us. I think in such a case, the game should cancel our joining instead of putting one of us into the group but leaving the other one out.

what I did was refine orichalcum ore to ingots, ancient wood to planks, and with my leatherworker hardened leather too. this takes you to 425.
then just discover 6-7 different level 400 receipes, that will put you at the 450 needed for ascended material refinement

The harpies in the cliffside fractal enter invulnerable mode if somebody they’re trying to shoot got knocked down and has cover from one of the platforms, and they don’t leave that invulnerable mode because you can’t get far enough from them to get out of combat. If more than one person falls at the same time this can make killing such a harpy a very time-consuming act for the remaining players who can still hurt it.

Since the 25th, whenever we get the ascalon fractal those of us who are transformed into charr (not all of us are) have their skills (6-0) locked in, aka unable to switch them.

The little triangle indicating “you’re not in combat, you can change this skill” is there, but clicking it just doesn’t do anything.

This makes it impossible to select the best skills for this fractal and can be very annoying.
