Yes, it looks like some bug related to the new code allowing our characters to speak in HoT. They are speaking other players lines. You can replicate it by getting a friend to use a shout skill near you, for example.

Interestingly, it’s always been the same in fractals – whenever the asura npc speaks, your character’s mouth moves. Very annoying.

Yeah, I agree. I stood idly around in my home instance and didn’t do anything. No character voices. When you do the same in an open map you start to “hear voices”. Might be that something is wrong with the range of those shouts. Seems like everyone is shouting their lines across the entire map, rather than your own character saying it.

Actually, if you look at your character their mouth moves along with the dialogue. Get a friend to use a shout skill near you and your character will mime it along with them. I have no idea what’s happening..

HEEeeeey i found a fix. Haha i had the same problem to.
Ok first you go to settings-graphics then put all graphics on low preset the switch it back on to high preset

Doesn’t seem to do anything for me.

I just bought this item today, and the physics are really quite jarring. When the character is walking, it looks pretty good. The problem is when you’re sprinting or generally moving quickly it stretches so horribly out of proportion like in OP’s pictures.

I’d love to see a fix on this.

Unfortunately, the dragon skins, unlike most of the other skins, don’t seem to be able to be obtained with black lion tickets which means you can’t farm the keys for them.

You can still buy dragon coffers, and thus get claim tickets.

You could try buying a tradeable one, and stacking it with the accountbound one. Of course that means shelling out 40-50g for something that might not work.

I’m just curious because the same thing happened with the wings of Dwayna recipe, and I sold my account bound ones using that method.

Yeah, personally I regret “upgrading” mine. I’ve heard people have sent tickets in asking to replace sunrise and twilight (with mixed results), and to be honest I’m thinking about doing the same after this months-spanning silence.

Try dragging a tradeable skin onto an accountbound one and see if they stack. That should let you sell them. (if indeed they do stack)

Seems like wiki has acknowledged that “bug” as a feature long time ago.

But we’ve also had dev confirmation that it’s an “issue” and will be fixed. But again, it was a long time ago.

In your second picture you can also see that you’re in an overflow, which means you get none of those WvW bonuses.

My tailoring was previously at 400, however a couple of months ago I went to make something and it was 0. Thinking I was on the wrong character I checked through each and every one to find it to no avail. I assumed I’d for some reason deleted the character with it, but this thread makes me wonder..

Bumping an old thread since it summarizes the bugs nicely.

In addition to the warrior skills being bugged:

- Guardian GS#2 attack does not throw the appropriate trail effect for either Twilight or Sunrise, it just throws the standard blue whirls.

- Guardian GS#5 attack also does not throw the appropriate trail effects, and instead throws the standard blue swords.

Could we have some further acknowledgment that the bugs are going to get fixed? Eternity is arguably the most prestigious legendary in the game, and it’s being outshone by its component weapons. This is like having a precursor with awesome effects and losing them when you make the legendary.

The last thing we heard on the forums was that the “issues were in the tracker,” however, that was a couple of months ago and other legendary bugs that were reported at the same time have since been fixed.

There also seems to be some kind of bug with the night to day transition. A few times I’ve zoned into a night time map and there’s been no glow there either. I don’t recall seeing this before, so it may have been introduced recently.

We had a fix in one of the patches recently that returned the glowing trail to meteorlogicus which was removed in the legendary update. Unfortunately, some bugs still remain.

  • Meteorlogicus does not glow in the daytime while sheathed like it always used to
  • The aforementioned sheathed daytime glow sometimes appears at night merging with the appropriate nighttime glow. (This can be easily replicated by unequiping and re-equiping the weapon)

I am aware that these bugs were put into your tracker, however since the fix only addressed one of the issues, I felt it appropriate to give this bug its own thread in case they were missed the first time around. Thank you for reading.

Unfortunately I think that Meteorlogicus is not intended to glow while it’s sheathed during the daytime, why they’d do this is beyond me.

This doesn’t make any sense. It used to glow in the daytime before the patch. And it glows at night.. sometimes with the sheathed daytime glow mixed in. So, why the inconsistency?? It’s definitely a bug, and it still needs to be sorted please Anet.

There might be some problems Anet has run into with regards to all of these issues. It might well be that they haven’t found a way to program the weapon to have both sunrise’s and twilight’s effects, so we just have the default ones instead. This also explains the lack of footsteps in the first place, lack of burst effect when drawing it, and the completely new footsteps the weapon has as a sort of compromise rather than day/night cycle footsteps.

If this is the case, I don’t see a solution other than following what they’ve already done with the footsteps and adding new, unique effects to the projectiles where the two other weapons used to have them. I completely agree that it’s pretty unacceptable to effectively have a downgrade for doubling your effort.

This really needs a fix.

Great screenshots, though I’m fairly sure that the night-time glow is meant to include the blue glow too. Notice how the blue emanates from the planet, and the yellow from the moon/sun. So what you’d end up with in an unbugged version would be your second picture. (this also explains the blue glow on the planet hilt)

This also explains some of the day-time problems. The blue glow should be there at all times (so you’d see it when stowed) but the bug literally removes it entirely. This would also result in a more intense blue glow when weilded in the day more akin to how the weapon was pre-patch.

The trail… that really should be there all the time, as it always used to be. I actually think the trail is part of the permanent blue glow that’s missing. If this is the case, the bug is really simple – the blue glow is bugged to be invisible.

In summary, the blue glow that should permanently be on is absent except when stowed at night when you first log in. The trail is also absent.

The devs have said it’s in the tracker, supposedly, so we just have to play the waiting game – Though I too would really like some direct acknowledgment that they know exactly what the problem is and they’re gonna do something about it.

Omerben, without wishing to cause offence, I don’t think the OP intended for this thread to deteriorate into yet another thread asking for more features or suggestions.

What we’re asking for here is simply a bug fix, rather than any additional effects or alterations. The danger is if we dilute the thread with content that doesn’t pertain to the bugs, anet might just see it us a bunch of people moaning that they want more from their legendary and as a result take no notice.

I do think we won’t see any changes, at least not for many, many months. I just don’t have faith in the bug fixing team on the art side. Bolt has had a problem since launch whereby the sword creates a clone of itself every time an attack is performed. That’s still here, and it’s never been addressed.

The only time I’ve seen art/visual bugs addressed is when it’s an item that lots of people have, like the whispers armour bug that changed the colour of the daggers. So again, sadly, I doubt anything will happen unless the profile is raised considerably or anet really does pay attention to their bug reports or these threads.

Personally, as petty as it is, it’s something that’s put me off the game. I find I have zero motivation to log in now after putting effort into making these items and it’s somewhat ruined the game for me.

If only they would return the sheathed glow during the day and the trail, I would make this scepter right now. I love all the new changes, just give us back what was already there before editing it.

People who are asking for more spell effects, different footfalls, etc, are really pushing their luck. The changes are great, they just need to give us back what was originally there before and what made people want to make the scepter in the first place. There are people here suggesting two different sets of footfalls, but do you know any legendary that has TWO sets of footfalls? Not even Eternity has that. You can’t be whining for that with an ordinary legendary. I’m already impressed that they gave Meteorlogicus a day and night cycle when the only other legendary with that extravagant concept is Eternity.

Great job with the new effects, Anet. Please just return the sheathed glow and the trail effect.

I completely agree with you, and I’m worried that anet will primarily see people asking for more and not see that this is quite clearly bugged.

The lack of glow and trail is DEFINITELY a bug. The fact it’s there in night-time zones says it all.

Also notice that when the glow and trail is back, the purple that some people are complaining about looks amazing. We need to make anet aware of this. I can see why they might not even acknowledge it as an issue with everyone talking about wanting extras, etc. I’ve reported it, and I urge anyone that wants these effects fixed to do the same.

To clarify; The stowed glow and trail are meant to be there. A bug makes them disappear on weapon use during the night, and they outright don’t appear during the day. You can bring them back by unequipping and re-equipping during the night, but they’ll soon disappear when you draw the weapon.

So please, everyone – report this: It’s a bug.

You never know.. they might fix it in tuesday’s update though I severely doubt it.
The more I see the trail (You can see it a lot in dungeons since most are indoors and in darkness) the more I miss it. Can’t understand how it passed QA, unless the people testing it didn’t know of the effects beforehand.

I’m more worried that Anet don’t actually acknowledge it as a bug.

Oh well, we’ll just have to wait and see.

I’ve been saying around the web when talking to meteorlogicus owners that we really need to make this issue more widely recognized. This forum post is the best one I’ve seen yet that highlights the issues at hand without turning into whining over extra features.

There are 2 bugs, which in my eyes are really pretty drastic:

-There’s no sheathed glow during the daytime,

-And there’s no trail ever.

You can temporarily fix the bugs by zoning into a night-time zone. This brings back the sheathed glow and trail, until you either draw the weapon or it turns day-time.
It seems to me that the purple glow they added is effectively another “layer.” In other words, the weapon should be glowing and trailing exactly as before the update, but at night time, you also get the nice purple glow and stormy clouds. This is perfect.

Please, please fix this ArenaNet. I’ll be keeping an eye on this thread.

I’m fairly sure it’s at least somewhat bugged. You can actually get the glow back at any time providing it’s night time by unequipping and re-equipping it, but as others have said, as soon as you draw the weapon for combat it vanishes. It’s such a shame because I really think it looks perfect when that glow and trail is there, and honestly it’s put me off logging into the game because of how disjointed it feels now.

Sadly this is going to be very low on anet’s list of priorities / not on it at all. Look how long it took to revamp the appearance of these legendaries in the first place – and even then that came with a significant stats overhaul. Don’t expect to see the back of this bug, not for a long, long time.

The thing I miss most though is the trail.. it was such a nice effect and one of my favourite things about it. A couple of times I’ve had some bug where the old and new versions merge with each other and I get the trail back, but it soon disappears. I’m still hoping its disappearance is a bug.

I’m fairly certain this is a bug. When you first load up the game, the trail is there, but once you stow your weapons again after you first use it, it disappears. Please fix this, anet. :’(

Edit: Never mind, I guess that was a bug itself.. after starting the game up again the trail is nowhere to be seen…

I’d like to chime in and add my experiences to the discussion.

I had my suspicions there might be something like this going on a few months ago.
First of all let me be clear on this: Most of the complaints are going to be anecdotal evidence and not worth looking at, but I have no doubt in my mind there’s something at least not quite right.

I know of individuals within the game that don’t just get good stuff every now and then, they get it consistently. Here’s an example.
I introduced someone to the game, his first drop ever from a mob was abyss dye.

Christmas came, he opened one of the RNG boxes and got a permanent hair kit – As a result of this I jokingly told him to try his luck in the forge; He then got dusk on his first attempt in the forge simply by throwing in 4 random exotics (not greatswords)

2 days later he got Storm from the forge by throwing in the rares left over from leveling artificing.

This pattern of luck has persisted with his account since these events happened; rares from 90% of dungeon chests, at least 1 exotic per day, and every RNG box that’s been released has yielded a ticket for him. In fact the new dragon coffers have given him 3 tickets in under 300 boxes. (Conversely I’ve opened over 2000 and have nothing to show for it, as have many others)

Now, you’ll tell me he’s an outlier to the rule, which I would normally wholeheartedly agree with if it weren’t for the fact we consistently see individuals with persistent, continuous, odds beating luck. There are always certain people whose drops do not reflect the vast average.

You actually do have a line there, it’s just VERY hard to see in rata sum. Look between the two asura on the left. I’ll put some screenshots up comparing mine to yours when I’m on later.

Also have this issue on a freshly installed system after upgrading to a HD7950 from a HD6850 (No problem) Definitely a driver issue for HD7xxx series I think.

Hoegarden, in regards to your screenshot, the lines wouldn’t normally show up there. It’s only in certain places in the game. Could you take another screenshot just inside the entrance of Ascalonian Catacombs? The Lines are most prominent there.

Anyway, I’ve tried the latest beta drivers (13.2) and no change. Hopefully this gets fixed soon.. It’s not gamebreaking but it’s nasty to look at. In the dredge fractal the lines go over almost all the terrain, and it looks hideous.

@Kid Taylor – I made it more clear now, it drops from the acolytes or possibly any mini-boss in the same path.

All recipe sheets comes from dungeon bosses (or mini-bosses), none I believe come from chests.

Actually, I just got the Eternal Flame recipe from the chest at the end of path 2.
Don’t know if this is the exception since there’s no actual boss entity, or if they have a rare chance to come from all boss chests.

Hello again!

So, after some exhausting testing of what seems like every possible avenue, I THINK I have found the problem (and have been able to replicate it)

I’ve been using a cheap logitech keyboard I got from tesco for £5 for quite a while – This is root of the problem. It seems over time the wiring in the cable has become separated at the join where it meets the keyboard. The way in which I have my computer set up requires me to have the keyboard resting on my lap, and it seems when the cable shifts it breaks the connection and thus the keyboard turns off.

Now the weird part.

As you may know, you can take usb devices out and plug them in without any adverse effects to Guild Wars 2 whilst it’s running. What was happening in my case was that the disconnect wasn’t adversely affecting the game, but the reconnect was causing the game to freeze, including the mouse, for the brief second or so whilst it does so.

This seems like a pretty solid explanation, and I think the problem is solved, but you never know – Stranger things have happened. I’ll update further down the line and let you know how it goes.

The moral of the story is; don’t buy tat from Tesco.

EDIT: Completely forgot to mention, but around the time the halloween update hit, I actually upgraded to a virgin media 60mb a second connection.. I’m not sure about the usb devices being affected, but at least it’s a something to think about.

Hi Gaz, thanks for your suggestions, I’ve tried them all but to no avail.

Is it possible this could be a PSU issue? I have noticed the PSU has started to occasionally make a whining and buzzing noise which I can only assume is coil whine, but is it possible that my system is periodically losing power for a split second, resulting in these freezes?

I should clarify what actually happens. The screen freezes for a very short while, and as I said before, the USB devices seem to turn off for a split second also. However, audio does seem to be uninterrupted, for some reason. I’ve tried playing other games for long periods to reproduce it, and browsing the internet too – but nothing has triggered it so far but Guild Wars 2. I’m pulling my hair out over this.

I’ve made sure I have all the latest drivers, doesn’t appear to have made a difference. What’s annoying is that everything appeared to be fine before the halloween update, and I don’t think I’ve made any other changes software-wise. It’s either the game or (unlikely) a piece of my brand new hardware has decided it doesn’t like this game specifically.

Again though, is it possible that for some reason GW2 puts a little bit of extra pressure on my system, and my power supply has gone bad? The buzzing and whining annoys me anyway.

Hello again.

Just here to say this doesn’t appear to have solved the problem. The last time it happened, it was immediately after exiting a story instance, this would suggest to me it’s happening whenever the game is loading something. This makes sense, as from memory, it’s done it when entering a dialogue scene, and also when entering a story instance.

Can anyone tell me what the problem might be? It sounds like it could possibly be a harddrive issue, since it appears to be related to loading – It’s also gotten better since I reinstalled my game, but I’m not sure of that. It’s just really baffling to me, since as I said, it’s only this game I’ve seen it in so far. Any help would be great – I’d really like to nip this in the bud before it potentially gets annoying.
