So, I decided to come back after about a year away, and as I go around in game, Im noticing that there is nobody around. I mean I get the whole megaserver thing, but I capped off today looking for a guild in LA, and through 4 or 5 different instances, and about 15-20 minutes in each, I saw no map chat, no people, nothing! I wouldn’t mind coming back and playing, but I would like to know if there are still lots of people playing this game?
Who hates this game now because of HoT?

I agree, hate is a strong word. I do have the hardest time pushing the log in button though. Im not a collection junkie, I really don’t care about achievements, and the events get very boring and repetitive after youve done them a few times. Those things can’t be counted as “content”. Content is story progression, content is character progression, content is not just things to do. I really think that someone needs to travel to the ANet studios, and give them an education in what content is. I mean, if endless grinds to collect things is your thing, then more power to you, but its not and never will be my cup of tea. It seems like at every crossroads that they have a choice, they inevitably have made the wrong one in my opinion. Its hard to come back to this game, even though I want it to be good.

linseed oil requirements are way too high
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

I decided I wanted to craft a new set of exotic wanderer’s armor. I worked to get all of the recipes, and once I had them, I found you need 60 linseed oil to craft a full set of oiled pieces to make the exotic armor. which means I need 1200 flax seeds just to make a set of armor with exotic stats.
I feel like I have no choice but to park every character I have at the flax farm and do nothing but farm flax, so I can have the armor.
I get that flax is the new hotness, and we need flax for everything, but can we maybe ease up a little bit on it, so that this doesnt become guild farms 2: the flax chronicles?
Your logic is completely flawed. The vast majority of players who DO like the expansion will be in game playing it. So that leaves the people who DONT like the expansion offline on forums and reddit kittening each others complaint threads. The people enjoying the expansion arnt going to waste their time writing about it making posts saying how.much they like it, its the people who have an anti anet agenda who are spamming posts
Actually, the forum is the main place for a person considering purchasing the expansion is bound to come to see if its worth it. Yet these complaints, which are met with mostly anger and hatred, and no real counter points, and telling people to stop qqing, dont really provide these people with a very good opinion of the game, and the community, and those people are less likely to purchase…
As to the actual problem, catering to a “hardcore” audience, be it the people who constantly want more challenge, or the people who blitz through content, or anything like that, is a bad design policy. Just ask Wildstar how catering to the hardcore audience worked for them…
As much as nobody wants to admit it, the casual gamer is the person you want to market for. You lose that market, you lose your game…..
Another positive one possibly:
“prepurchase by 3:00 PM PDT and receive 24 hours early access”
:P
I got some for you….
-xp boosters will not work for mastery xp
-fractal level progression will now be through mastery levels, so all fractal levels will be reset
-dungeons will no longer award xp, so as to limit tyrian mastery leveling
and a couple of happy bombs:
- increased drop rates on all crafting materials, with a bonus to materials gained through salvaging
- to offset the dungeon xp being removed, an overall 15% increase to event xp
just some quick thoughts there…
What class will you play at the release?

Im thinking of going Scrapper, with my second probably being dragonhunter. I love the way the scrapper felt, and I can get good power with good toughness as well.
Dragonhunter-can a fella get a speed boost?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Syraxis Windrunner.1973
Let me start by saying I enjoy the dragonhunter a lot. It does have issues, but overall its a fun class to play.
It is however, the slowest class available….
With the new elite specs, the other classes have gotten those much needed speed boosts.. except the guardian.
I wish to preface this by saying I understand that there are shouts, as well as staff 3, but I dont feel like I should have to keep weapon swapping and equipping different weapons and skills, or sacrifice to take runes just so I can keep up with my friends…
Is there a possibility that in the dragonhunter’s traits, that we can get a passive 25% speed boost in it. Like maybe add a virtue of speed, that passively gives the 25% speed, and when activated, gives 15 seconds of swiftness to the party, with a 35 second cd. That way, a guardian can keep up with the rest of the classes…
Instanced Raids Confirmed [merged]

Did you hated the raid themselves or the fact that you need to grind one to get the gear needed for the next one?
I hate the overall principle behind raiding. Gaming companies seem to all think that more people = more challenge. Its more like more people = more frustration.
I get that people like it, and if they do, more power to them. I just think that they need to stop getting the idea to put the “personal” story (and the living story is “personal”, else why would the group call you boss?) should be locked behind group content.
Instanced Raids Confirmed [merged]

There is a major concern that I have with raids…
According to the Letter from the President : “They’ll be a big part of our live content strategy for Heart of Thorns.”
Ive raided in every single MMO out there. I hate raiding. I don’t find it fun. I find it boring, tedious, frustrating, angering, and a general overall displeasing feature of a game.
That being said, I don’t care if they lock rewards away, or if theyre exclusive. Do the content, get the rewards, I get that. What bothers me is when they lock away major portions of the story behind them.
ANet realized their mistake when they did that with Arah, and changed it (albeit, 3 years later almost). As a person who purchased the game, I should be able to complete all aspects of the story, living or otherwise, by myself. I should never have to rely on others to complete the story.
I know other MMORPGs do this, but ANet has constantly stated that they are bucking the trend of MMORPG play (i.e. the manifesto), so I don’t think its too much to ask of ANet to avoid it.
If raids are going to be a major part of living world content going forward, Im just concerned that the people who don’t like raiding like myself will just get forced into raiding, or quit. I like the game, and I enjoy the story, but I don’t want to be forced into doing something I hate just to see the story.
While I enjoyed the gameplay of the dragon hunter, there are a few complaints I have about it.
-First, the synergy between traps and the longbow is severely lacking. Especially in the new map, you don’t have a lot of time to “set up” enemies. Especially ranged enemies with limited los breaks. If the traps were ground targeted, this might fix the synergy a bit.
- After playing with the traps for several hours, I ended up ditching most of them for my old skills, mainly purging flames, and sword of justice. There just isnt enough reason to carry the traps over the skills that provide significantly more utility.
-The virtues have very nice animations, and are very pretty, but the cds are way too long to lose the passive buffs on them. The leap is a 60 second cd, and you lose regen while its down, for a mediocre heal and a leap. The spear is nice, but its 8 seconds longer cd than the old justice virtue, and it doesn’t seem worth it. I never used the shield, so I cant really comment on that, but I feel like I dont want to use the active virtues cause the payoff isnt big enough to warrant me losing the passives.
-The longbow was fun, and I felt a lot more mobile than before (still looking for that passive speed boost btw), but the 2 skill as mentioned previously needs a bigger payoff to root me for 2 seconds. I felt like I was almost on par with my ranger AA wise, but the other skills need some tuning.
All in all, I think it was fun to play, but its not quite there. It feels kind of halfway ready…
Dragonhunter is one of the specs I was interested in. Having set it up, and done quite a fair bit of combat with it, its not terrible. However, I think there could definitely be some tweaks that could make it better.
- There needs to be more synergy with the traps. Traps are not ground targeted, which if you’re a melee is fine, cause youre right there with the enemy. “Setting up” an enemy is difficult, due to the fact that there are so many, and most of them ranged with little to no los breaks. Youre better off using the traps with melee.
- The damage on the bow isn’t great, but kind of standard fare for the guardian. I never expected to be beating my ranger’s dps. That being said, Im hearing friends doing crit damage of 30k or more, and my paltry 1200 makes me feel a bit inadequate.
- The range of 1200 isnt ideal. The scepter is already 1200, so if the longbow was supposed to make us long range fighters, why wasnt it a longer range? I almost feel like scepter is a better option here, cause then I can get the good torch skills with it.
- The virtues are okay, but I feel like the active uses of the virtues dont have enough payoff to lose the passives for the cds. The spear for a ranged fighter is too short of a leash, and the damage it does makes me feel like Im afraid to lose the passives, so I just skip it. The leap is okay, but Id much rather have the passive regen, and the cd on the leap is a bit long to have to lose that. The shield is nice, but the whole point of a dragonhunter I thought was to relentlessly hunt down our prey, regardless of the cost (i.e. witch hunter) not hunt down our prey while trying to keep our friends alive.
TLDR: I expected the dragonhunter to be an offensive machine, hellbent on destroying its targets, no matter if it cost him everything he previously stood for. What I feel I got was a guardian who wanted to do this, but just couldnt let go of his past, so he feels muddled and confused, and sort of halfway in both worlds, and that just doesnt work.

Hello,
Apparently there is a bug in Timberline falls at the Rankor Ruins. There is a heart there that asks you to “Help the Priory’s excavation of the ruins”.. This includes many tasks, but I am unable to complete the heart, as an event has bugged the entire area. The event says to “Protect krewe leader Dobbs as the krewe clears the excavation site.” Apparently, the krewe has reached the finish point of the event, but the event didn’t finish properly somehow, and now the event has bugged out. Even further, this has caused all the items that you can react with in the area to earn credit towards the heart to disappear. There are no golems in the area, the artifacts show up on the ground but when you enter the vicinity of being able to collect them, they disappear. Please help!
Thanks
