Try logging on another character then log off and try again. Fixed problem for me (both chars were in the same area tho)

Cant seem to get into overflow on SoS which is highly unusual
Tonight we managed to finish off the Jade Maw before the final Jade Colossus was killed. The Maw did his usual dying animation, spawning the chest while we finished the final Colossus…
Next thing we knew, Tentacles were bursting forth from the ground and we were getting hit with agony which combined to wipe us out (we were near the chest when this happened so those of us who were only downed were quickly finished off by Tentacles).
Unfortunately not all of us were able to get the chest as the usual wipe respawn popup did not appear, only the Ready to continue popup which of course teleported us back to Dessa.
So be warned. Don’t attempt to finish off the Jade Maw before you finish off the Colussi
he gains protection right before he does his AE lights agony attack

Tell you whats a simple fix, just have Agony do a % damage of your intial/base HP (not buffed by stats). That way regardless of what Profession/Class you are you won’t be singled out. Then on top of that, vitality builds won’t be punished either!
Actually I believe that would end up favouring Vitality builds.
Why does agony punish vitality builds? Because everything should have its downside. Toughness is weak vs conditions while seemingly makes you a bigger target to hostile critters, and Healing Power has long suffered from horrible scaling.
It’s a fail concept anyway. It doesn’t belong in a game that is supposed to be about player skill.
if you have skill you don’t need agony resistance and you won’t get it. soo actually agony resistance and the concept of agony actually punishes those who don’t have the skill because they need the resistance to go on
You can get to level 20 with agony gear but from there on out having agony resistence is a must, try doing the dredge map with the dredge machine boss and his undodgeable agony attack or jade maw with no resistence at level 20 and higher.
Dredge boss has one of the easier Agony attacks to avoid. When you see the boss gain stability, double dodge pronto.
Because of the RNG mechanics of FotM I was sitting on 10 resistance until the early 40s before an infused ring finally dropped, so it is possible. Most of those levels were pugged and the ones that weren’t were with people i met while pugging.
The Maw is the only boss with an agony attack you can’t avoid. Having the resistance to survive the Maw (perhaps the easiest ‘boss’ fight in FotM) isn’t nearly as important as knowing when to dodge or hide behind a nice reflective wall.
I personally didn’t get a ring until I was on floor 28. They make things easier, but you don’t need them to progress.
Yes, they aren’t needed in the least, because graveyard zerging to complete the fractal is a viable and acceptable tactic.
Actually for all but the Jade Maw, graveyard zerging does not work.
The only fractal where the graveyard zerg does work is the only one where Agony cannot be dodged. Make of that as you will.
Reroll until you get the underwater fractal. Near the second captive villager (off to the right as you approach) there is a hole in the roof allowing you to get above the fractal and onto dry ground. From there you can find your way to the Ascalonian fractal and pick up some char npc support which you can then lead back to the underwater fractal. They wont help you much with the jellyfish (they don’t appear to have underwater skills) but when you finish the fractal they’ll follow you to the next fractal where they will help you on the trash (Agony from the final boss still kills them quick of course)
we have identified a problem with our higher scaling chests that we are working on.
While you’re working on that, increase the drop rate for rings in the 10-18 tier.
I sure would love to progress further in FOTM, but this gate is just not fun. Almost 2 weeks of daily runs with nothing to show for it.
I’m about to hit lvl 40 with only 10 resistance so its not totally a closed gate but i agree.. havent seen a single infused ring, been doing lvl 20 and 30 dailies for a good week and change now
Just passed the 200 fractals mark, the majority (perhaps vast) of them have been in the 20 and 30 daily bracket, and still no infused rings. Luckily agony can be avoided most bosses, otherwise i would not have been able to progress past 30.
Dredge and colossus ones are quite big, and those exploits should be removed. BUT first fix reconnecting issue, it’s more important.
Anyway: dredge backdoor thing is obviously an exploit, but what about the colossus first boss? I mean if you’re standing on a rock (which can be climbed by the boss) and you just hit him, is that just considered being smart or is it an exploit? It’s quite a thin line on that one.
Actually you don’t need to be on the rock, just anywhere max range (1200) from the boss and you can wail away, and its not from the boss but rather from some point on the map as I have seen thieves scorpion wire the boss to them so that melee could beat up on him without initiating the cutscene

Moving the entrance wouldn’t make much difference. People will still flock to LA to look for other people to do fractals, just like they used to when looking for people to do other explore modes.
As long as it isn’t ‘one time only’.
Anet hasn’t even attempted to justify their one time only stance with lost shores. I suspect its because they know any excuse they came up with would be complete bollocks.
I would have liked to have been able to form an informed opinion of the event, especially the finale, but alas Anet decided that wasn’t to be.
Sorry but the info was out there that the one time event was on the 18th and because of that its pretty obvious that the real reward was going to be after you complete that.
They also issued similar warnings for earlier one time events that proved to be way overhyped
They did tell us that we wouldn’t want to miss this event. We were warned.. but then they said the same thing about the Halloween one time event and that turned out to be not worth losing the better part of a nights sleep.
How ever are we supposed to tell when Anet’s being serious?

I sure hope not. If they do delete this thread because of all the negative feedback, then that just shows they don’t care and have no will to learn from this mistake. It also shows that we shouldn’t care either because the same problems we face this time will show up the next time.
No they didn’t delete the thread. They rolled them all up into one single super thread in an attempt to hide all the negative threads that was spawned once they implemented the new ‘build’ and cut us off from a chance to finish the final event.
If we use the lfg site then Anet won’t be left with a very visible and frequent reminder of how badly they botched the Fractals dungeon up.
Actually I am pretty sure as an Oceanic I paid more for this game. Probably a good 60% more.
I got up for the ‘one time only’ Halloween event and regretted it.
I slept through Lost Shore’s ‘one time’ event, and regretted it.
The only thing I can appreciate about Anet’s performance is their inconsistency.
Now I am at a loss as to what to do come Christmas. Do I sacrifice the better part of a nights sleep for the inevitable ‘one time’ event or not? Chances are whatever I do I will end up regretting it.
Words cannot express how depressed and jaded about GW2 these last ten hours have made me. Narrowly missing out on the event then finding I had a second chance via a bug in the overflow servers. Twice the servers crashed during the final reinforcement stage and then a third time so that a new ‘build’ can be released.
Just tested the dodge heal (selfless daring) on my guardian in WvW and it didn’t show any sign of the PvP only heal reduction.
I just tested Selfless Daring on my guardian and the 50% heal reduction in PvP didn’t effect the heal in WvW
If “Repeating the event wouldn’t make sense” was the reason for it being one time only, they woulda said that. They didn’t. Instead their excuse was they didn’t want people spoiling the surprise by viewing it in advance…
Ultimately the end result will be that a lot of people will end up viewing this one time event elsewhere because they couldn’t view it in game.
I find it amusing that a great many people will be forced to watch live streams of this ‘special’ event because Anet doesn’t want people watching live streams of the event.
I have no problem with the difficulty of the jumping puzzle. I quite enjoy it.
What I dislike is the wait between attempts.
This wait is made longer by people being good at the puzzle.
So I want them to fail. The quicker they drop out, the quicker I can try again.
To make matters even worse people are now farming the puzzle. Forcing others to wait often twice as long as they might normally have had to had those people who had completed the puzzle moved onto other activities.
The two-piece bonus for the Superior Rune of Sanctuary provides +20% Frozen duration while the two-piece bonus for the minor and major Runes of Sanctuary buff boon duration. To the best of my knowledge this is the only rune set where the bonuses change more than numerically from one tier to another.
Is this intended?
