I’m seconding jumping onto the rocks. And yes, it’s a weird bug that causes you to be knocked back when the spout you’re jumping from moves and you’re in mid air. So whenever there’s rocks nearby take it instead of trying to jump all the spouts. It looks possible but it isn’t really due to that knockback bug.
I’ll just say this:
If you don’t like it, then don’t play it. Ignore it ever existed, and avoid Rata Sum.You people can be so idiotic sometimes.
We all paid money for this game. That entitles us to complain about anything we don’t like that is developed. If this game cost absolutely no money to play, then we would have no right to complain.
Your statement is invalid.
So you complain about sPvP or WvW even if you don’t do that content either all because you paid for the game?
A million boxes in LA? Well you can’t buy Fun Boxes with bubbles now but they were also a nice way to get daily costume brawler.
Okay. You always have the choice to… not play something and never ever zone into Rata Sum.
Now I feel bad for what I did!
This krewe is very interesting… and they all have unique faces too! I guess Anet is moving the asura designs to have more common white sclera instead of black.
Might be bugged like how the zodiac sword skin was before today. Unable to search for it but you can put a buy order for it if you already have one in your inv. Which is silly.
Wow, the point of SAB wasn’t to get impatient and buy a skin. It was to have fun for once.
Glad I saved all my bubbles. Can just buy all the accountbound skins I want.
They said the old skins wouldn’t be coming back way back at the end of the first SAB.
Dude, I still have nightmares about monkeys.
Well yes, but now they have even more than just golems! There’s dancing holograms with their own sick beat.
I dunno man, after being attacked by air pirates, twisted clockwork ladies, and molemen with jetpacks… I think it’s perfectly reasonable for the most advanced race who makes frequent use of holograms and long distance communicators to create a virtual world instead of the latest giant anti-dragon laser cannon.
Asuras blew up the concept of traditional sword and sorcery fantasy the moment GW2 started.
I just would really hate to see overworld SAB farming from holographs like Dragon Bash. For once, I’d enjoy a living story that isn’t plagued by farming beyond selling dropped skins to very lazy rich people.
So my asura’s years of study in the College of Dynamics could have actually been completed in under a year?
How dare this lesser race show up all the asura, acing every test and exam!
They look like the creepy eyes on the giant holo Kiel…
If they set the rewards low to begin with, they can then adjust upwards depending on reactions and statistics. They would then be praised for listening. Or they could set rewards high and then adjust downwards. They would then be reviled for taking something away from the players. I know which route I’d go if I were in their chairs.
I don’t think they’re that clever to pull a New Coke on us.
I find that they give better loot overall compared to the normal dungeons. Once you get past reward lvl 10, you’re picking a whole lot more greens in one run than a whole day of regular dungeon running. Also a very nice chest at the end too.
That’s the droprate I wish I could have when running normal dungeons. Not a chest full of blues and a tonic that I’ll vendor without even reading the name.
From the Dungeon changes newspost-
“Our goal is to make each and every dungeon path feel enticing and rewarding. We also want the rewards structure to encourage players to enjoy a variety of dungeon paths.”
There’s no such thing as a variety when most of the rewards are 1g. There’s no change at all from ever running more than the fastest easiest paths to do the longer harder ones when you get the same payout for less effort.
Super disappointed. All that fancy talk about being rewarded for time/difficulty was just kitten fluff. What kind of reward variance is there when it’s only 1g, 1g50s, or 3g? Not even a single 2g to make it look like they actually took some time to think.
The 1g50s is just a slap in the face too. Saying that AC and Arah3 is slightly more difficult that CoF1 but not even adjusting SE2 or TA F/U to 1g50s to their time and difficulty? Do you honestly expect champion chests to be raining from the sky filled with lodestones when doing those paths to make up for the same 7 minutes 1g reward it takes me to run through CoF1? Have you stopped to count how many champions there are in a dungeon? I seem to be fighting a lot of Inquest and Dredge in SE but not the volume from Queen’s Pavilion where champions are simply handed to me.
And don’t even get me started on the token nerf.
These are dragon-haunted times. -puts on party hat and fills up mug-
But seriously, don’t we deserve some celebration after taking down Zhaitan? I hope that gets mentioned in this festival which is unrelated to everything else going on in the world, only Queen Jenna’s 10 years on the throne as a single lady.
The asura and sylvari will probably show up later. I bet they both will be male since our current party has been opposite of Destiny’s Edge so far.
Maybe there’s some sort of system norns have when they choose between having their mother or father’s name for their surname? Though the most obvious answer on why he’s Eirsson instead of Borjesson because Anet wanted to make it very obvious he’s her son instead of letting us put on our tinfoil hats. Personally, would have preferred the other style of norn names and have him be named Braham Cragwolf or Wolfshield but he probably has to make a bigger name for himself and punch more Dredge Legion.
I’m on the side that’s glad Braham is staying away from Eir. It shows that he’s learned to count more on himself ( and us random heroes ) instead of running to Destiny’s Edge for help. It feels like Eir’s turnaround after he saved the neighboring settlement is in bad taste after she and Knut were all “Nope, we’re too busy over here.” A simple congratulations toast would have been better instead of asking to talk. Nothing good ever happens when your mom sends you a letter asking to just ‘talk.’ Especially when your mom never even mentioned you to her dragonslaying friends.
It wouldn’t make much sense for them to appear for Dragon Bash because Braham had to help rebuild Cragstead and Rox is jumping through all of Rytlock’s hoops to join his warband. They’ve been pretty busy unlike Destiny’s Edge. Logan and his boring deskwork.
I bet they’re there as honored guests for their work in F&F.
The problem is that you’re not walking close enough for the automatic targeting version of the lightning jump skill to kick in. You’re too far away that you have to ground target your jump.
Just walk in closer and watch your icon flip.
And it was a promotion from security bot to subdirector?
Yes, I always hated spending more than 6 minutes in a dungeon and having to fight multiple enemies. I only want to fight a boss but never to actually physically hit him and be done with it.
Thank you.
I’m a bit confused here but why is Blingg’s modified security golem a Subdirector?
Is this some attempt at humor by Canach by renaming the golem Subdirector NULL in a pun about the real Subdirector Noll? Or have the Consortium moved onto using golems as more effective bosses?
I hope so, but with all the achievements revealed on the first day it kind of spoiled most of the story.
I don’t understand what the hell we’re doing in Southsun now. I rather work on rebuilding Cragstead and random charr settlements that were destroyed in F&F instead of helping keep refugees trapped in this island. There’s even an achievement to keeping those terrible contracts safe.
I rather have an achievement where you help refugees escape to The Grove or Sparkfly Fen. Who needs evil dragons when you have the Consortium?
The dungeons are portrayed as mandatory as the personal story. That is, neither are mandatory. They are only needed if you want the story.
And that’s the crux of the issue with me. The story is given to us without any need to group. We’re shown the vast majority of the personal story without any need to group.
Then after we’ve gotten invested in following the story, suddenly we need to group to see the end.
It’s like watching Game of Thrones for the entire season then finding out you have to go out to bar with 4 of your friends (not 3 friends or 7 friends but only 4) to see the last 20 mins of the season finale. Sure you can do it, but that doesn’t make it any less irritating.
5 In terms of Living Story, which is what this is focused on, it wasn’t a consistent set of many solo missions ending with 1 group event like personal story. It was an evolution of the story. First you just saw refugees, then you had a lost and found scavenger hunt, then you had 1-man mini dungeons, then you had a group dungeon. No two parts of the story evolution was the same, so you cannot state that it was one-way throughout and ended another. If you take that argument, there should have been no combat as it started without combat. (I hope you can agree with me that no combat would have been silly and boring).
Very true. I don’t mind fixing signs or clicking on wounded npcs but oh my god, if I have to go on another scavenger hunt across Southsun Cove for a broken toy soldier who’s place changes every day and I have to use Dulfy to find it… I’ll… I’ll… Huff and I’ll puff and I’ll do it anyways! Annoying as it was, it was some interesting bit of personal lore about some npcs I never met and will never talk to ever again once they disappear from LA. Every bit of the Living Story was different and only Rox/Braham’s “Save the peoples/critters” was the only thing that was a copy of Personal Story quests.
The game he’s looking for is very clear!
He wants to play Guild Wars 1.
Quick question! Have you taken the time outside of the game to read the GW2 novels to further build upon your Personal Story?
The dungeons are portrayed as mandatory as the personal story. That is, neither are mandatory. They are only needed if you want the story.

Oh my god, that would be the coolest thing ever! Please show me what bar has HBO on their TV!
I didn’t know that the Story Mode dungeons were optional but I completed them anyways and got to see Logan and Rytlock kiss… and make ou-up. Make up. It was a very touching moment and the greatest thing ever and now I know why there’s a charr ghost in the game.
The only charr ghost ever. True fact. He’s like classic evil villain now.
That’s all fine. I agree with you. The thing is that the story-pie seemed to be for me, but in between they changed the recipe so that it’s delicous for some other people but not for me anymore, that’s what I’m critising. If you happen to like both cakes it’s fine, but some do not.
The story pie is actually a lot of small pies, or should we call them tarts? Yes, I will call them tarts. Story missions are pie tarts, fairly easy to complete solo and you get to have your fun with them with learning what’s going on. Some pie tarts are bigger and tastier than others while some are small and sometimes stale.
But all these pie tarts build towards the big entree pie because only having small pies doesn’t really lead into any kind of special tart if they’re all the same size. And boy, it’s a really big pie! Bigger than anything you’ve ever seen! So big, it’s too much to eat on your own. It’s so massive, you just gotta share this giant pie with others. So you gather some friends or just hungry pie eaters and then dive right in to the big pie! Celebrations are had all around the empty tin of the big entree pie.
Y’know, the only thing that Anet did to get away from the 5man dungeon model was to defeat the Sinister Triad- Tank, Healer, and DPS. You can have a party of whatever in any dungeon which is the craziest thing ever compared to WoW and just about every other MMO out there.
Wanna do the dungeon but everyone happens to be Rangers? No problem! Let’s go nuts with silly pets and traps and arrows! There’s absolutely no need to have a Warrior/Thief, Guardian, and Mesmer. Don’t even bother trying to ask an Elementalist to sit and heal your party. The only time I can see professions being a problem is if two Necros have the same condition build and that’s a problem in every aspect of the game, solo and group! Only the party dynamic changed, not that you can do it on your own like GW1 with robot buddies.
Dungeons are here to stay in Guild Wars 2 and it won’t be like Guild Wars 1 because these are two separate games. GW2 is for new content, new experiences, new jump button, not a return to how things were back in GW1.
The playerbase will always be separated by the way. Some people don’t touch WvW, others shun PvE and only WvW. Even stranger folk do that sPvP thing! There’s some people who like map completion and wearing a star, others like seeing a billion achievement points. Some enjoy the totally optional Fractals of the Mists to challenge themselves in ever harder dungeons. Why, some people don’t do anything at all but sit in the Busted Flagon and RP! It would be impossible to make everyone happy because everyone likes a different kind of pie and Anet can only bake one pie at a time.

Congrats on getting some help in this dungeon!
I still haven’t been able to fight any tunnel bosses besides the troll pack in all the times I’ve run it. Even as a decked out guardian in pink ascended gear, I wouldn’t wanna solo these bosses and Molten Gunners.
I’m sad that there’s no actual party planning going on in here…
Since when is a 5 man party considered a raid? WoW went from about 40 man raids to 15. Those numbers are higher than 5 and are made of multiple 5 man parties.
5 people is just a party, not a raid.
Yeah yeah, I know you hate partying and stuff so much but at least get your terms right when it comes to the difference between a party and a raid even if you don’t participate in either.
it would be nice if some live events ended whit meta events
We saw how great that was for the Karka events!
Maybe Eir got her ideas of raising kids from the charr? My vote also goes for Rox being the best mom for adopting Frostbite.
All I really got out of this was that norns are pretty terrible at supporting neighboring settlements.
If dungeons get scaled, I want the rewards to be scaled too. A warrior or mesmer going through the new dungeon or Fractals doesn’t deserve the full amount of tokens and money that a full party gets. Group effort for a group reward.
A mysterious fast-talking womanly trickster from the city! The captured dredge mentions her.
My guess is that it’s the Inquest! These bookah are all too easy to manipulate.
Wow, are you that unsure of your party’s skills that you can’t trust them for the first room?
I pugged it and wiped 4 times, 3 of them at the final boss due to not knowing mechanics or knowing which one to kill first but we worked through it with simple communication. Have a little faith! A couple silver to buff the dings out of your armor isn’t the end of the world.
Please explain how I’m being selfish by helping friends and complete strangers in dungeons, that’s just so confusing.
Why should MMOs play like an offline single player game? GW2 is a very social game.
SAB was doable solo because it’s not really a dungeon.
Molten Facility would lose its grandness if I could just walk in and faceroll everything. I’m not exactly Solid Snake in this strange thing called a MMO.
If you’re so worried over the reward chest, just do two world bosses ( Frozen Maw and Fire Elemental have fast respawn rates ). You get at least 2 rares and you can sell them for close to 50s. All you miss out on is fancy guild tokens.
