As my friend puts it. If you think necromancer is “Fine” you are still new to the game, as you don’t know your enemy very well, and how much better they are at almost every other thing. You bring nothing to groups, and your role in pvp is laughable at best.

Even the most necromancerish skill the minions like to stand around and do nothing a lot of the time.

So at the end of the day, the class is buggy, not well thought out, and is the worse class in GW history.

I played gw1 and I am a newer player to 2. Even I can see the flaws of the class. In fact, I regret getting gw2 because of it, as I love necromancer type style, but the state this class is in, they should feel ashamed.

Ok thanks for the tips, I don’t know what side is right or wrong, but I always played pet classes because i enjoy micromanage pets and take pride in that. So if it can be done with that. I will see.

I do have one quick question. I saw that the black bear has a aoe debuff on it. Does debuffs also cause aggro? Or is it just simply damage/toughness.

My pet tanks stuff just fine for me … but the thing is, you need to be able to handle the times when mobs decide to still go for you. This isn’t wow where your pet spams a taunt on auto-cast.

There is a lot more work required in order to properly micromanage the pet in GW2 and play off of it.

It helps to understand the AI in the game too.
AI targeting takes into account proximity, toughness, and (I believe) vitality of available targets to pick its target. So if your pet is tankier than you and closer, they are much more likely to be targeted … also better at tanking. However, the tradeoff is that your tanky pets don’t do as much as the non-tanky pets.

A nice middle-ground is the drakes and canines. They aren’t super glassy, but they have solid Power. Drakes are great in PvE because they can cleave. Their AOE applies weakness as well which further improves their survivability.

That sounds nice, like i don’t want it to be mind boring easy like wow hunters. Having to think, stop attacking, let pet damage, play passive for a bit. Sounds like a ton of fun to me.

I am about to hit 30 with my ranger, (ya for nothing but free time).

I’d rather get nothing than being nerfed. And no, condition necro did not get nerfed. After the patch necros will overall be in a better spot than now. Eles are being nerfed all around.

You mean the part where half the class does not even work half right? Or that core skills of the class just does not work well with the DS? Or how about being a condition class, and got the least amount of condition love? in fact, forcing them to pick from skills that they have and depend on (terror) for some defense?

It seems like Elementalist have it made in my books. Even after the nerfs

I love necromancer minions, but I am having very little hope of them getting fixed at this point. I love pet classes, but always been more of a caster type person.

Since I am disable, I don’t group with many people. So i like to solo content and test my limits through it. (aka solo dungeons and group bosses.) and trying to find a class that is not as buggy, and rewards you for putting time and effort into getting better.

You might have gave enough feedback at the time, but at that time changes was not going through.

Also with them being silly and laughing. The reason why it is irking some of you is because you did not like the news they gave, but they have been kinda doing it all this time.

Next thing is you can say, We have been giving feedback for years and not being listen too. Well now is the chance? When the game is doing some major changes and tweaks and they are going through the classes like this. Now is the best time to calm down, go over what you like, dislike, and ask what you would like for the class.

They do read the forums, and class changes are not something they can snap fingers to do. Now that they are heavily focus on changing classes. They want good feedback, on what makes necromancer “Fun”. Having to make hard choices on what skill to get is what they want.

WHat i saw today at wvw was a horror, anet give us more stckas or meele at wvw die. U can’t get even close to blob cos u lose all stacks of stabil before reaching leap range. Also if u want to avoid blobing why u buffed it?( now it is easier to bob up and have 3x more ccs than a 20 man zerg so ppl around the whole map run in even bigger numbers)

What I saw today was kinda fun. When I was doing WvW before, it was melee fest, Getting passed all the raging warriors and guardians, my guild was saying this is the most fun WvW been in a long time.

Seems like they are on the right track for some people.

WouldGW2 be more successful with HolyTrinity?

Like I said before. If it require more team work, and combine spells for combos to take the place of tanking. Where people have to work with each other to live. This system would be amazing, but watching videos of it..just made me go huh? The holy Trinity would be better than that. At least some team work would happen. This is just sloppy and not fun looking at all.

Kinda sorta?

What I would have done is made stronger combo spells with classes, and made teamwork even bigger part not just dps it down quickly and dodge.

What I mean is, Spells, and skills being the tank and only when combine with other players.

Fire+Ranger mud skill+ Clay wall, that bosses has to smash through for extra damage or debuff. Giving players time.

Guard+Warrior skill combos could make a warrior of light forcing the boss to miss a lot.

I mean it would have to rebalance, but I was hoping for a deeper combo system, that require team work instead of zerk and dodge.

I hope they give up with the living story.. and make something fun to PLAY , cause there are a lot of series and movies we can watch if we wanted to read or see storys

That’s the thing, the only problem with living story is that it was very dumbed down and one dimentional.

There’s no reason it shoulnd’t have PVP addition aspects, or WvW, or Fractal/dungeon (which it did have first season).

Yes there is a reason.
Man power and time to code, play test, debug, play test while debugging until it´s gorram almost ready, but hellooo deadline. Guess it´s ready.

The teams that were occupied during the whole LS could´ve comfortably cranked out a whole finely fleshed out expansion that would´ve told a perfectly interesting storyline.
JUST LIKE THE ORIGINAL GAME DOES.

Or worked on the China launch, or really revamped PvP, or frikken cured cancer for all we know.

I don’t think that is true in a sense.

No matter how amazing a MMO is, it needs content, a steady amount of content to keep people wanting to come back for more. No matter how much better a MMO becomes, If people get bored waiting for content, or new stuff to pull them in. It spells trouble for the game itself.

Living world is a AMAZING idea, and it is end game content that could keep people coming back for more. To make it better, it is best to keep giving feedback on what the players want, and what they could have done to make it more fun. Even if it is repeating the same stuff over and over.

Living world is a huge selling point, just like the pvp is for many. I do hope they improve it..and keep doing it.

Living story is the reason why I got this game and so did my family. (even though we don’t like that we missed a good chunk, and we got to pay extra to get the whole season 2 thing.)

In a game that is base off not grinding gear or having a cookie to chase, Having updates of story is what made me kitten, that seems fun, log on farm a little, do some pvp, and wait for the event story to happen.

It is a amazing idea, and if it can be pulled off right and in a fun way, Living story is or could be amazing.

Crafting future?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Teladis.1309

Teladis.1309

I am a new player, and am doing research on crafting..(no crafting forums?) My understanding is..crafting is only used for levels, and it does not make money well.

This makes me sad, as crafting in a mmo has always been the thing I did, when my body does not want me to combat. (Being disable blows ) I love the story, I love being drawn into the world, I even love leveling so far.

It just feels like, the game is super center around combat, and if trade skills really that bad at end game. That breaks my heart a little.

Am I wrong? I mean I don’t want to take away from others, as the combat is fun, and the game is amazing. I was just hoping for some more relaxing stuff to do, Fishing, Random treasure hunts.

Oh well, I don’t mean to sound negative. I might be wrong as I am not max level yet.

I understand the points of both sides.

On one hand, as a new player myself, I blame myself for not doing enough research before getting the game. I just saw living story, and thought man that is cool! buys Oh I got to pay to catch up? well..silly me.

On the other hand, I understand that a game needs to make money to keep pumping out content. This is a good way to do that.

HOWEVER. I would have liked to know what I missed from season 1, and maybe, a season 2 bundle that is a tad kitteneaper? 10 dollars feels about right.

Is that bad for me to feel like that?

My sister and Mom got the game, and both of them are not “heavy gamers” So this system might be a so called “Insult” for people who play games. New gamers, the system works. It slowly teaches them, and adds a bit more later and later.

I don’t really understand the problem…the game holds your hand at the start. I mean is it really that bad? I heard once you do it once, it opens up for other chars right?

I had the same experience as the OP did today. After two years I finally got my brother convinced to try the game and… lets just say he was entirely lost on what to do after clearing the level 2-5 hearts.

Was this the human area? Because it was pretty straight forward for me.

They told me at the start, to look for scouts, to explore. So that is what I did and was able to find all what I needed to do.

It was pretty straight forward on the human side, and also Norn? side as well..as I got one to 12.

As a new player, I kinda like it? I mean it is not the end of the world. I am in no rush, I am enjoying the story, helping out, having my finest duck being taking out by my jerk of a friend. Having that jerk kidnapped…

I mean is it really that bad? Grinding mobs? The first few days I have…

Worked on a farm.
Chased a wild bull with some wasp attacking me.
Showed some grunts how to shoot a gun.
Went in a bandit cave to clear it out.
Found a random cave troll that had me screaming help.
Went into a swamp, where a random Kingdom hearts looking monster came out of the ground and one shotted me.
Had to fight a underwater creature, that was scary.
Had to protect some farmer tools from little creatures that sound like little girls.
Found out that bears don’t like me, and hit hard.
Saw a gaint tree monster and was rooted to death.

…How can you be bored?

His lich form? I think he calls it, he says that it feels like he is weak outside of it. He does not really enjoy it that much because he likes his dagger skills? Well anyway, the question is. Is there builds out that make him sorta powerful outside of his f1 skill? Some of the guides I looked at seems to say that necros are only strong in it..but that is silly..right?

Leveling a mesmer is quite honestly pretty rough. The problem is that mesmer is incredibly dependent upon traits, and the traits don’t unlock until very late in the leveling process (courtesy of some titanic mistakes by the anet dev team). This means that you’re basically going to be playing what amounts to half of a class for the majority of your leveling experience.

That being said, if you run with appropriate armor and weaponsets, you’ll generally be able to kill things just fine. It’s not going to be faceroll, but you shouldn’t have much difficulty for the most part.

Lucky for me, I will have a ranger lady, who lives in my house for some reason, and makes me waffles. She will be helping me out with the leveling. So I take it, at max level, I will be like Rawr? Not meow?

I doubt I will do much dungeons, I have the whole, going at my pace thing going on, and many people find me weird, or too fast/slow depending on if I see shinies or not.

So just got the 10 dollar deal, giving this game a shot, and I had a choice. Necromancer or Mesmer. I was leaning to necro at first, but people like. BAD AI, Necro is selfish..pets don’t work. So i am like ok lets look at another class.

So I saw this class, and was like. WTF 0_0 this is amazing. Make clones of myself to fool people? Teleport switch places with clones, have a army of mirages? This class screams, style, fun, and a army of yourself is a big ego boost, if you look good doing what you love.

This class screams for me. So being the noob I am, I come to the forums.

“Don’t play this class for pve.”

Eh? EH!? I mean I will do pvp one day, but I want to have a fun pve side of things as well. I want a army of mes, ripping monster apart, while the real me is sipping tea talking about the weather. However, if it more like a army of me getting ignored, while i get chased around screaming, oh god why does it hurt so good. I don’t think that sounds fun.

So for just random world pve farming stuff, will I be playing the don’t drop the soap type of pve? Or will I be the haha fooled you stab in your face, type deal?

What should I do?

I have a few questions that seems hard to find answers on.

The whole living world thing sounds amazing, as I really get into my games. I however, have tons of free time due to being disable. So the more content that happens the better for me.

My questions are as follow.

1) I saw a lack of fishing and other neat things to have. This game screams for treasure hunting, and fishing. Besides crafting dailies and pvp, is there other things to do at end game stuff?

2) From my understanding, Gear drops and Crafting stuff is on par with each other, So end game content is mostly for items that are for looks? If that is the case, how well does crafting economy hold up? I do enjoy combat, but like my first question. I like doing non combat stuff as well. (body some times does not want me to do high reflex stuff)

3) Class question, I wanted to be a Necro because the monsters look super cool! I however, tried to do some research on the pets..and people said pets are not worth it, or weak. This makes me really sad if it is true.
