Stop being offensive. Not the first time I’ve had to tell you this and not the last. I DO think before I speak. You probably do too, and I’d never insult you by suggesting otherwise. That’s one main difference between us. You must use personal insults for some reason. Do you think it makes your arguments stronger?
Lol, what are you my dad?
“Yes daddy, I’ll stop being so mean on the interwebz, please don’t spank me…”
C’mon now, you are so full of yourself you think you can tell people how to act now?
I don’t care if my posts get removed. You think you are god’s gift to MMO forums and crusade against any little bit of negativity even if it has merit.
Stop trying to control everyone and using your pointless arguments to tell everyone they’re wrong. No one cares about your guild or how you play the game. Get over yourself. Seriously.
I’ll bet if you looked, you’d find negative threads I haven’t posted in at all. Of course, you haven’t looked, because you don’t do that kind of research. You just make snide statements that are demonstrably false.
For example you claim I’m a fan boy, but I’ve come out against Anet for some of the stuff they’re doing. I just don’t rant about it, because that serves no purpose. And I don’t personally insult people who disagree with me. I argue with them, without name calling.
Yes, I’m a fan of this game…because the other MMOs out there are mostly terrible to me. If that’s a problem for you, I’m not sorry about that. I won’t apologize for liking a game. Nor should I have to.
No, you should apologize to everyone else that their opinions don’t matter and yours is the only one that does.
That is your problem. That is what you do in every thread. It goes as follows:
OP: I think opinion X, because of Y.
You: Your opinion is wrong because me and my guild prove it. My opinion is right.
OP: Yes, but look at logical statement X.
You: You’re still wrong. I’m right. My opinion is better and you are just a negative forum-goer.
OP: Whatever…
Basically every thread, except for that one where the OP was upset about engineer weapon skins. Ya, that’s important….
Where did I say the OP’s opinion was wrong? Can you show me this? I’ll wait here.
What I said was I disagree with the OP’s opinion. I wasn’t aware that disagreeing with an opinion was a crime.
The OP feels this is a serious matter that must be fixed. I feel this is a normal state of affairs in a relatively new MMO that’s being fixed.
You keep putting words into my mouth. That doesn’t help any of your arguments either.
Keep telling yourself that…
Disagreeing isn’t a crime. Telling someone their opinion doesn’t matter because yours is better is the problem you have.
That and the fact that you tell people they are in the minority because your guild doesn’t agree. And the fact that you use your godlike MMO knowledge to tell everyone they’re wrong too.
It’s as if he can’t grasp the fact that his opinion doesn’t hold any more weight than that of anyone else.
I’ll bet if you looked, you’d find negative threads I haven’t posted in at all. Of course, you haven’t looked, because you don’t do that kind of research. You just make snide statements that are demonstrably false.
How narcissistic are you to think you’re even worth that kind of research? I’m with clay on this one. Get over yourself.
I don’t believe Anet is ever going to equalize the damage between professions.
Evidence?
I also don’t believe that DPS is the only thing that counts. I understand the mindset that does believe this, but it’s still only a matter of opinion and play style.
If it’s a matter of opinion and play style, why do you care so much so as to visit these types of threads and dismiss our opinions and play styles as the exaggerated, pointless whining of a small minority?
There are always people out there who want to play a profession because of the feel of the profession rather than the numbers the profession generates.
Have you read this thread? People want both: they like the feel of some professions and want their contributions to damage output to be on par with other classes. You trade in false dichotomies.
And because Anet does tend to factor in other considerations, such as survivability and utility, it’s unlikely that they’ll equalize damage.
Please explain. Specifics and details would be helpful. (Stories of your subjective enjoyment playing various classes do not count.)
Anet has NEVER equalized the damage between professions. I don’t believe they’re going to start now.
A lot of things I say about the game, generally, comes from years of reading, not only patchnotes, but explanations from devs of why changes were made. This was done in Guild Wars 1, and I really wish they’d do the same in Guild Wars 2. But for years, every time a major patch came out, there was an explanation on the Guild Wars 1 Wiki of why those changes were made. If you’re asking me for EVIDENCE that they’re not going to do this, I can’t give it to you. Because my educated guess is based on watching what the company did and how they explained it for years. How about you come back to me in a year or two and tell me if they did it. They won’t because they never have. It’s not how Anet thinks.
And yeah, I have read the thread…all of it. And I see a handful of people complaining. That’s all. That’s what I see. Are you saying this handful of people complaining is representative of the whole gaming community? If so, evidence?
Anet has it’s own standards which it works too. In Guild Wars 1, many of the same things were said in forums, and much of it Anet ignored as well. And some people left over it. And some people stayed.
You guys are all very smart, I’m sure of that. But that doesn’t mean you have a monopoly on an opinion or that you know what’s best for the game. If I was going to put money on Anet’s way or your way…I’d probably bet on Anet.
That’s what I don’t understand about you. You think having read many patch notes, MMO forums, and watching dev interviews on YouTube have made you an expert on all things MMO (it hasn’t). You’re basing your “educated” guess on what ANet did in the past with GW1, when ANet went a completely different direction with GW2 than they did with GW1.
It’s true that there’s only about 15-20 people in the thread acknowledging the imbalance of the classes, but there’s only about 2 people (you included) in here saying that everything is fine. That test-sample alone should at least hint something to you.
There are always people out there who want to play a profession because of the feel of the profession rather than the numbers the profession generates.
I love the feel of Engineers and Necromancers. Otherwise I wouldn’t spend so much time lobbying for them to get numbers that suit those feels.
I also love both classes, Ranger too, i do not love how weak they feel and how nonviable they are compared to the other “better” classes like Mesmer and warrior, and i’ve played every class..
Same here. I have all the professions at 80 and love them all. Anet did a lot right and it’s always good to remember that when offering constructive criticism. The professions I rarely play are Engineer and Ranger. Ranger largely because it feels weak and because of the pet AI. (I mained a hunter in WoW for several years.) Engineer feels weak without grenades and ground targeted spam is an RSI in progress. Necro I actually love to play pretty much as is and it’s sad that the way condition damage is managed makes them irrelevant/redundant in groups.
I won’t deny the fun-level of certain classes, because it’s definitely there. That’s why I’m so annoyed that certain classes aren’t closer to a level of balance. I love my Necro. It’s probably my favorite class. I’d play it in all aspects of the game if groups allowed.
This will answer everything. In time my friends, in time.
This video would only apply if ANet was actually tweaking the classes bit-by-bit. They’re not though. They’re just completely ignoring the existence of imbalance altogether, and doing nothing.
“I’m not “really…into number crunching.” I’m not a “pro.” I don’t even play that much, let alone crack out the spreadsheets.”
If you don’t even play that much, why do you care so much about balance then??? Look, when you try to make a point, I don’t even know what it is, at least, don’t put contradictions here and there that hurts your credibility.
Well, I still play. And I would play more if balance issues were addressed.
Why do I have to be a hardcore player to care? I don’t understand the objection or how it’s a contradiction.
@Guns and Giblets.9308 You do not have the required experience, according to your posts, to claim what is balanced and what is not, nor to tell who’s wrong or not; and this is a common and VALIDE ad hominem commonly used in every competitive games against people like you. I just think your lack of experience contradicts your position.
Back on topic.:::::
- What do you suggest to fix necromancer, ranger, thief, and engineer to be on part with warrior, mesmer, guardian, and elem.
- How pve mechanic should change for the better so those 4 professions shine once again?
- Is it time for ArenaNet to give dodge to bosses to indirectly nerf some playstyle, zerk for example, and encourage multi dot/condition/aoe playstyle?
It’s not the player’s job to think of suggestions to fix the game’s broken areas. That’s ANet’s job. They get paid to do it.
And just because someone doesn’t use GW2 as a life-substitute, it doesn’t mean that their opinion on balance is completely invalidated. The problems are there, and easily apparent at all levels of play. You don’t have to play 100 hours a week to see that the class-balance is completely and utterly broken.
Make a group and say “any profession welcome”. All the people that couldn’t join those groups will join yours.
I do it all the time.
Then you proceed to turn a potential 5-10 minute run int a 30 minute run full of wiping and frustration. ANet just needs to homogenize all of the classes. At this point, nothing could make the classes worse than they already are.
Make every class have a build/weapon setup capable of dealing identical damage to Zerk Warriors. Make every class have a build/weapon setup that offers them identical and support/utility as Mesmers. There, everything is the same and boring now. I’d still honestly prefer that over having 2 good classes, and 6 terrible ones.
If you have a group full of idiots, yes. I run CoF all the time with a random mix and we still do it in 10-15 minutes.
You’re among the luckiest people on the planet, then. I’ve tried putting together random-mixed PUGs before. Almost all of them were either much slower than anyone would be willing to tolerate, or failed and disbanded before we even finished.
Now, I limit my groups to Zerk Warriors and a single Mesmer, like everyone else looking to succeed.

I put a thread up about this last night. If you want to play anything other than a Guardian, Warrior, or Mesmer, you’re screwed. ANet is failing their playerbase by ignoring the ‘major’ issues of imbalance.
I know that my Necro won’t see any game content outside of PvP and WvW. If I’m to even be accepted into a group, I’m going to have to hop over to my Zerk Warrior. Necro interests me the most out of any of the other classes, but the imbalance of the game doesn’t allow me to play him in all aspects.
I tried playing Engineer because the concept behind the class seemed really cool.
But I was disappointed at how weak they were.
I rerolled Guardian and I’m having much more fun now.
I feel like an epic hero, and not the fragile underdog.
You picked a pretty good class. Guardian would probably be ranked 3rd in the most effective classes. I’m currently playing my Necro for WvW and PvP purposes. I’d do more on him if the meta allowed me to do so. I suppose I’ll just buy my exotic set for my Necro, or mail over the CoF tokens I farm on my Warrior to get his gear.
Getting end-game gear is far from difficult, especially if you have the gold to cover it. If you play with friends or guildies that are friendly enough to run with you, you shouldn’t hit much of an issue in getting content done either (as was mentioned earlier in this thread). I’d just suggest leveling a Mesmer or a Warrior when you get the time, so you can get into farm groups.
I play a necro. I have fun playing the necro. We have a couple of guys in my guild who main necros. They love it.
Maybe you’re just too focused on damage.
Ignoring the problem by saying “I love the class” is not the best way of going around it. ALL of my other toons do more in condition damage, do more in regular damage, do more in healing than necros do.
But necros are also very survivable. They have more health than other professions except warriors, they have the extra health bar with death shroud, and they have some great utility. You want to ignore all that you can. I don’t see any point ignoring all that because that’s, get this, PART of balance.
By providing utility and survivability that make the trade off from damage. Some people get this and some people don’t. I get it. My mesmer will NEVER do the damage a warrior does, but the trade off is utility.
You may or may not like that utility, that’s another matter, but just because you don’t doesn’t mean some thought hasn’t been given to balance. In fact, I can’t think of ANY MMO where every profession does the same damage.
I don’t know why you’d expect every profession to do the same damage here.
Engineers are the same way. They sacrifice damage for utility. This seems to be a component of balance that people overlook. Why do they have professions like that? I don’t know. Maybe some people enjoy playing them.
Giving them the same damage output and the same utility and the same high health would make them overpowered. Isn’t that what everyone is complaining about when they bring up warriors?
A full-Zerk warrior isn’t going to die to anything that a Necro is going to survive, and vice versa. Having survivability in this game is a simple waste of stats. You’re either going to get one-shot by a mechanic that you were supposed to dodge, or take very manageable damage that can be healed through. Survivability has it’s uses in PvP, but in PvE it’s worthless. That same could be said for utility in PvE.
The problem is, if all you care about is efficiency, you’ll see professions as horribly imbalanced. If all you care about is going out and having a good time and not worrying overly about speed and numbers, you won’t. Your play style is going to have a huge impact on how you see the degree of imbalance.
To say that the game is highly imbalanced because of the efficiency thing may well be all true. But since it doesn’t affect my game at all, or the game of those who play like me…or at least it affects it in relatively minor ways. well to me the game isn’t that unbalanced. It really is a matter of perspective.
By all means if you play a min/max style or like to speed farm, or whatever it is you people do, that’s great. Just keep in mind you’re not necessarily the majority of the gaming population.
It’s not really considered mix/maxing when the difference is so staggering. When a group of 4 Zerk Warriors and a Mesmer kills a boss in 4 seconds while your Ranger/Engineer group kills the same boss in 2-4 minutes, that’s not min/maxing and that’s not a “10% difference” (as you stated before). You may think that’s an exaggeration, but it’s not.
I thought my view of the classes was rather shallow, but you’ve definitely proven me otherwise. You seem to think that most people playing Warriors are bumbling, skill-less idiots, while the Ranger and Engineer in your guild emanate skill like a god. I don’t doubt that your guildies are good, because they probably are. But if your guildies were to take that skill to a Warrior or a Mesmer, your group would fry content. If you’re fine with clearing content 2x or 3x slower, that’s you. Sadly though, most groups aren’t.
Its less about what class you play as its more about being in a guild or not. MMORPG are about playing with other ppl mainly the ones you talk to. Randomly grouping with ppl and having no commutation is NOT how you play this game. This is not WoW anonymous dungeon finder where you can effectively play as a solo game this is about playing with other ppl and not simply playing beside them but truly playing with them.
I cant even imagine how any would even want to play this game with out the party aspect part of the game let alone any online game at all.
How did you take a thread about the imbalance of classes and turn it into a “Guild or gtfo!” thread? I am in a guild. I run with the guild all the time. We have Necros and Rangers that run with us. They’re OK players, but it’s literally impossible to run explorables at a farmable pace with them, or any other non-Warrior or non-Mesmer in the group.
Even in full Exotic gear, anything other than a Warrior, Mesmer, or Guardian is just sub-optimal. The content is easy enough to complete with just about any group composition, but if you’re looking to get things done at a good pace, you’re going to take 4 Zerk Warriors and a Mesmer. That’s what makes the balance of the game broken. If ANet refuses to fix or even acknowledge these issues, they’re really just hurting their own game.
I run dungeons with rangers, necros and engies all the time. With my guild. We’ve beaten all the content in the game. We have necro who’s a dungeon master who’s up to 30 plus level fractals. He’s good at his profession.
I have a ranger in my guild who I’d rather have in my dungeon party than any warrior I know. He’s real good. In addition to being real good, he brings the skill search and revive, so if someone goes down his pet can rez while we keep fighting. Prevented a couple of big problems in hard areas.
At the end of the day, a profession is only as good as the person who plays it. Anyone can pretty much learn how to play a warrior. That means for a lot of people, warrior is a good choice…because they’re not great players.
The only real issue is stuff like the limited paths for builds that necros and engies can use. Like no one at high level play would ever play a minion master necro, and no one at high level play would play a turret engie. At least not in PVe. PvP is a different matter completely (and I’ve seen turrent engies and minion masters used to good advantage there.
You’re far more likely to get a bad engineer than a bad warrior, but the fact is, that doesn’t make the professions all that different. It’s the same with a thief. There are a lot of bad thieves out there, and a lot of good ones. Is the profession bad…or the player?
That’s not to say there aren’t some balancing issues. But on how bad the are, opinions are deeply divided.
It’s not really a matter of “Good Player vs Bad Player”. That’s not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about classes being played at their highest sill-level. The efficiency of Warriors, Mesmers and Guardians is just simply much higher than that of a Ranger or Engineer.
I’m not doubting that a good player is going to be good no matter which class they choose. I’m saying that a good Engineer won’t be near as efficient as a good Warrior. The classes themselves are flawed, not the level of skill required to play the “lesser” classes.
Some classes seem to be almost a “must have” (Warrior, Mesmer), while others seem to be considered useless (Ranger, Necro). Has ANet even considered buffs to the “lesser” classes?
It could be that I just have a shallow view of the classes, but I don’t think that’s the case. The “good” classes seem to be sought out, while the others are usually dismissed or kicked from groups.
I play a Zerk Warrior, and don’t have even the smallest issue getting invited to groups, while on my Necro, I couldn’t get a group to save my life. It’s really discouraging to not be able to play the class you want.
First off you can get higher damage if you use signet of rage instead of banner (but I do understand the rez on drop is very nice).
Other then that both those signets suck, as most signets besides rage and stamina do. Using FGJ over signet of might would be better, and you can use something to improve your survivability other then the useless signet of fury.
As for making a high damaging AND survivable build…. you can’t, that would be over powered as crap. Only thing you can do is get good at dodging and use food that heals you on crits (I think those are still in the game at least o.O), besides that if you want to add to survivability you’ll have to sacrifice some damage output, that’s how balancing in an MMO works.
Well thanks a lot on the heads up about the signets. Now that I have 2 free skill-slots, I should be able to survive just fine. I used to use Signet of Rage, but found Standard to be more useful in group-play. I’ll look into that food you mentioned as well.
Much appreciated.
This is the build I’m currently running with:
As you can expect, the damage output is ridiculous, the downside is just survivability. Even with just a half/half Rare/Exotic set, I hit for about 25k full-hit Hundred Blades. I like the damage output, I just don’t like taking so much damage. Maybe it’s just a matter of me not dodging skills correctly rather than the build being bad.
Any positive suggestions, that wouldn’t completely kill my damage output would be appreciated.
Personally i’d be scanning my computer with everything i have, formatting too, obviously the took your account with some help, i’d be checking they don’t get it again..
The hack attempts started months ago from what I could tell. When I was going through my email to find my game-key to get my account back, I waded through about 30 “Unauthorized login attempt” emails (All from ching-chong thief-land, China). I’m also on a different PC than when I played before. I never even touched GW2 on this PC until a few nights ago, so it’s doubtful that my account being compromised has anything to do with malware on this PC.
Probably should have opened the ticket before opening and selling the items you found after getting your account back.
Ok games are a different set of laws but i was thinking hey my car was stolen got it back there was all this stuff in the boot that wasnt mine so i sold it.
Well this is why I’m curious as to whether or not I should put a ticket in. If they decided to remove the gold gained from the bags, and give me back what I previously had, I might end up on the losing end. I’m really not sure as to what I actually had before I stopped playing. It was quite a while ago.
I am pretty content with getting a free level 80 though.
So instead you post it on the forums which the moderators read. Think about the consequences of your actions.
I’m not too worried about that. I highly doubt an ANet support rep is going to ninja-reroll my account without me making the request personally. I don’t think they read through the forums just so the can find people to roll back.
The rollback seems to be a “once per lifetime” thing anyway. With limitations like that, it sounds more like they treat it as a one-time butt-saver rather than a function to screw you over if you get hacked and manage come out on top.
Okay, so I played the game quite a bit for the first couple of months after it’s release, lost interest at around level 63 or so, and stopped playing. Just a few nights ago, I decided to come back and play again. When I went to log in to start the download, I found that my account had been hacked, and had to go through the process of having it returned.
Upon getting my account back, I found that my main character (Warrior) was no longer level 63, but level 80. Not only was I 80, but I had a full level-80 green set, with a yellow weapon. I also had around 500 Heavy Moldy Bags in my inventory, and was in the middle of Cursed Shore.
The downside to this, was that my character was completely stripped of all previous property and gold. All I had was the green set and those 500ish Moldy Bags. It kinda worked out in the end, as I opened all of the bags and sold all of the contents to get some gold back.
Should I put in a ticket to see if I could get all of my previous property back?
If you had less gold then before then don’t bother. It isn’t illegal to not ask for a account restoration I believe. Though technically, the gold earned from those bags aren’t yours so i’m not sure as well. But ye, account restorations can only be offered ONCE per the account lifetime, so use it carefully.
I don’t really ‘want’ the account to be rolled back to where it was before. The boring grind of leveling was what made me lose interest in the first place. (Not the GW2 had an exceptionally boring leveling experience, I just hate leveling in any MMO.)
If I understood previous posts correctly, my options seem to be: Inaction, or a rollback to 63. Given those options, I’ll gladly pick “inaction” and keep my level 80 and 25+ free gold.
Probably should have opened the ticket before opening and selling the items you found after getting your account back.

When I get into the game, I have a red and blue overlay ontop of my game, as if it were for 3d glasses. I’ve looked through the settings a few times, and just can’t seem to find where to turn it off.
Is this a game issue, or a GPU issue? I really can’t even play the game like this.
would be cool if there was a “barber” we could pay for recustomization. gems or gold, i don’t care, but this does need to be implemented soon.
Exactly. But it needs to go beyond just hairstyles. I would like for there to be skin color options, hair options, face options, ect. Just like the initial character customization.
Yeah, I probably should have plugged this into the suggestions section. Hopefully a moderator will see it and transfer it over for me.
I’m quite certain that I’m not alone when I ask you for a character re-customization. Not necessarily a race change, but an option to rebuild your character as if you were making him/her for the first time.
Some of us were just so excited about getting into the game and playing, that we didn’t put much thought into the image we wanted for our character. Now that I’m around level 65, I find myself regretting my haste more and more.
I’m not saying that it’s something that needs to be done within a week or two, but I do believe that a re-customization system should be one of the higher priorities on your “to do list”. I would be willing to pay $15-$20 just to have my character re-built, it would increase my level of enjoyment by quite a large margin.
The closest I’ve come to WoW since GW2 headstart, was the forums. But I wasn’t playing before the release either.
No need to buy them, Gw2 will feature consistent free content updates and in-game events going forward. Our goal is to make it so you get more from Gw2 for free than you get from a game you pay a subscription for.
On top of a large amount of free bonus content, we will be expanding on offerings in the Black Lion Trading Company going forward, as well as be doing large-scale expansion content down the road.
We’ll cover a lot of the details on the kind of support and plans we have in place over the next month or so on the Gw2 blog and with our press partners.
We do appreciate that you’d like to buy lots of new content, but we’d prefer to give a lot of it to you for free, cause that’s what we think a responsible MMO company does!
You realised you essentially just killed SWTOR…Right?
How so? Youll still have to buy the huge expansion packs with real money. The $15 sub on other MMO’s pays for the infrastructure and wage costs of the developers. In GW2, it seems the servers have been coded cheaply, and ANet seem intent on nickle and diming for almost everything. Trading post, and the fact that they intend to charge you for character slots and even to switch servers says enough.
The general consensus by those not blinded by the marketing spin have already said and proved that the game isnt worth a sub fee. At least not the $15 that other MMO’s charge for more features, a bigger game and more depth.
I realise i could be banned from the forums for this, but it seems that when you provide criticism, even constructive criticism, the posts get locked down pretty fast. But lets not get into that as that can be kept for a new thread.
I can say with all honesty, that I haven’t spent a dime on gems since I’ve started. You can easily afford your extra bag slots with gold, as I have.
Why not hop over to one of those $15/month MMO’s and ask them for a free server change? See how that works out.
Of course a game isn’t going to have more content than a game like WoW upon release. What people seem to forget about WoW though, is that even with all of that content, the only bit of it that ever sees any action, is the current end-game content. Everything else sits and rots. (Or gets powered through by people leveling to end game.)
I love running into a centaur camp, AoEing down about 6 of them while barely surviving, doing my business, then getting ganked by 8 more as I’m trying to leave.
On a serious note, I do agree with the OP on this one. It almost makes me feel rushed to complete my objective before I get jumped by the respawners.
I play Warrior. I see quite a few others, but not near as many as I do Guardians.
All they need to do, is put a C.O.D. option into the mail system. If you’re really looking to sell things, just pop them on the Trading Post. They get sold instantly.
Have you checked the heart of the mists? There’s a few PoI’s and Waypoints in there.
I don’t have much trouble killing Thieves at all on my Warrior.
Signet of Rage+Bull’s Charge>Hundred Blades>Whirlwind Attack>Throw Bolas>Blade Trail>Rush>Endure Pain> Hundred Blades
I know that sounds like a lot, but it really only takes about 15 seconds, and NOTHING survives. I’ve even downed 3 people at once with this combo.
A baby cat, of course.
This is the first MMO, in a long time, that I’ve actually been able to come to, and not compare everything to WoW on a constant basis. It’s nice to be able to come in and get a fresh experience.
I’m already level 50, and I don’t even feel like I’ve been leveling. I’ve just been playing the game as it comes at me. It’s so refreshing to not feel like I have to grind quests to reach level-cap. Getting 100% completion of every zone, is something I’m definitely looking forward to doing.
ANet really put together a nice game for all of us, and I’m enjoying it thoroughly.
Well if there would be any viruses it would lag in other games too? I have like 100 fps in BF3 with everything on ultra and 64 players. Also Im pretty sure I have the latest Nvidia drivers. I dont use the Beta drivers because they only give prophit in GW2.
The Beta driver was recommended to me when I first opened the game on the 25th, so I just went over to the nvidia website and grabbed it. I’m also using a GTX 580, and haven’t had any noticeable FPS issues since then.
Perhaps you should try the beta drivers. If that doesn’t fix it, then you can know for sure that your GPU or drivers aren’t the issue.
I’m not really a big fan of the downed system (for PvP) either. When I go through a hard battle and and pull through victorious, I should be rewarded, not instantly counter-downed by the half-dead guy that I just “killed”.
It’s great for PvE though. Getting a second chance versus some of those veteran mobs is very welcomed. I seriously think that ANet should consider removing the downed system from sPvP and WvWvW.
There is way to much mentality that Warriors are tanks.
I think the above poster has a good point. His build sounds like rush in do damage get out. My warrior path is more group support. I wouldn’t even near try what he is doing. Choose your traits based on the experience you want to play, but most of all don’t assume that the warrior is designed to stand still and take all the incoming damage. There just is no healer good enough to back him up for such endouver.
That’s a good point. Just because my build works for me, doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s going to work for you or anyone else.
I love charging in and doing over 15k damage with one Hundred Blades. Watching another player’s health dwindle down to nothing in a few seconds is just great. The person above me prefers more of a group support build. It really comes down to perspective, use what abilities YOU think are going to work best for your playstyle.
Adding a LFG tool to the game does not stop players who prefer to create their own group from doing so. After all, no one would be forced to use it. No one was forced to use it in WoW either. My WoW guild grouped together a lot, in the days when I was still playing, so no need for the dungeon finder. However, on those days when there weren’t many guildies online and I wanted rewards, there was always the option to use the tool if I chose to do so.
Some people like it, others hate it. But the tool, in and of itself, is optional. I wouldn’t required people to use it.
Of course no one is “forced to”, but people are going to make use of the most convenient methods. If an LFG system was implemented, forming groups manually would be seen as the obsolete method of grouping.
Path of least resistance and whatnot…
I sure don’t miss it. LFG was largely detrimental to the health of the community in the game. Anonymity brings out the worst behavior in people.
If you want to run a dungeon, why not just grab a few buddies or guildies? I’m sure you won’t have much trouble at all finding people to run with you for a while. (Especially if you’re fun to run with.)
I’m not too sure you’re doing it right, then. I have absolutely no trouble on my warrior. I can kill almost any other class within seconds if I use a Greatsword. Try reworking your build and strategy a bit.
I’m running with a 30/30/0/0/10 build. The damage output is just about on the level of “insane”. From what I can tell, Warrior wasn’t meant to hang in there for long battles. Seems like we were more meant to fly into battle, blow off huge amounts of damage, score a kill, and run away.
