Been running my nature/flowers/jungle theme for a while now and the ultimate plan was to top it with Kudzu wich I finally finished last week… and sold it lol… so with that said I changed my look ankitten ow sporting a brand new Desert Assassin Ninja with merci weapons
Really dig this look. Reminds me of the Sand People from Star Wars and gives a kind non-traditional Druid feel.
I’m not sure if this is a bug or if it’s just part of the experience, but why do Rytlock and Marjory not fight? I’ve only run through it twice (without beating it) and each time I was the only one fighting. From the very beginning when you’re ambushed by Bloodstone Crazed White Mantle they just stood there like useless lumps. Later on, when fighting Justicar Adrienne they would be standing right next to various White Mantle members while I’m downed not 15 feet away. Canach doesn’t fight but is considerate enough to res me. Attacks also don’t seem to affect Rytlock or Marjory but they do affect Canach.
Besides restarting and hoping you get lucky, is there a way to fix this?
I know I’m late to the party here. Our PC crashed over a year ago and we just got it ready to play GW2 again. We have 6 level 80 characters and I’d like to get the expansion.
But here is my concern. I read a review where the reviewer was impressed, but noticed that just 2 weeks after launch there were not always enough players around to complete the big “events” that are needed to get mastery and specialization advancement. Its apparently not like Tyria experience, with hearts everywhere that I can complete on my own. Apparently its more like Silverwastes in this regard?
Anyway, now that HOT has been out a long time, is it going to seem like a ghost town in these starting areas and hard for me to grind XP? I really want to get the weapon specializations and gliding mastery, but not if it is nigh impossible because it depends too much on other players.
Please advise on whether or not you believe this to be a legitimate concern, or what Arenanet may have changed since the review in question to make things easier for “loners” like me
Thanks.
I play off and on. As of late I’ve begun to play more and have delved into HoT content. I also play at “off” times (2 AM to 6 AM) due to my work schedule. I can confidently say that there are always groups farming meta-events, people looking to get achievements, and in general a stable population. I’m sure it’s bigger during normal hours, but the point is there has never been a lack of players in my experience.
I see people saying to “use a mouse”. This makes me wonder, do most people playing this game not use a mouse?
[sorry for not being topic relevant, just curious]
Hi Guys,
I’m a long time player but still a noob. I mainly solo stuff but I’m really interested in getting into fractals and dungeons. I would also just like people to hang out with and talk to. I’m barely getting to HoT but I think I’m going to put that off until I finish leveling one of my alts. I main Guard (the alt, I stupidly deleted my main Guard) but have Ele, Engi and War at 80.
If yall are still recruiting I’d love to check it out.
Thanks
I’ve read several posts complaining about the state of how “hard” everything is now. While I vehemently disagree with this sentiment, they do have the legitimate complaint of stating that the JP is too crowded.
I’ve been lucky enough to get in and do it, but I know that many others aren’t. I don’t know why Anet can’t just create a system to rotate players based on completion/time (for the trolls) or make a side server for it.
Either way, I agree. It is ridiculous getting in to the JP.

Before HoT, I always had a legitimate chance of acquiring a festival or event skin. The requirements were sensible.
Since HoT, I present Nightfury and Winter’s Presence….. The requirements for these skins are just nauseating.
When people talk about the grind in HoT, this is exactly the kind of thing they are talking about. You either have to grind for those drinks during the festival OR spend a ton of gold on drinks( cynical gold sinks also a trend since HoT)
On a side note Jumping puzzle requirement is crap. Prior to HoT jp’s were just a sideshow attraction. HoT is trying to turn my rpg into a platformer and that sucks.
Case in point, the Halloween back piece from 2012:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mad_Memoires:_Complete_Edition
Was received after doing a quest involving going places, defeating evil and generally just playing with other players. Everyone that tried to get one had one. There was no elitism involved and the gold sink/grind was non-existent.
Fast forward 3 years and we have nightfury

Does nobody at ANet see the difference here? I know I sure do!
Point taken, but a game expansion is different from a holiday themed patch.

Things that people claimed weren’t casual friendly pre-HoT:
Fractals (3 mini dungeons plus a boss?! I don’t have time for that I play 20min a day, I’m casual!)
Dungeons (I can’t get into a group because I don’t have zerk gear and I don’t speedrun! I’m casual!)
World completion (why do we have to do WvW for world completion, I’m casual, I don’t like PvP!)
Story-mode finale (I need a group to finish the story?! what the heck Anet! I’m too casual for that!)
Living Story S1 (these LS events are timed?! You’re saying I can’t do all of the achievements within the 2 weeks if I only play 10min a day?! I’m casual, wtf ANET!
Living Story S2 (wtf Anet, I didn’t log in when these were released because I’m super casual, and now you want me to grind gold so I can trade for gems? I’m casual! I don’t have the time nor money to do this!)
Dailies (Whoa, Anet, look at how long it’s taking to do these dailies! And I have to do it to get laurels?! I’m only on for 2min a day! I can’t possibly get all of this AP that you are forcing me to get! Make it casual friendly!)I think a lot of people think that casual friendly means everything needs to be able to be completed quickly or easily. A casual player does not imply a bad player, it implies someone that plays at their own, typically slow, pace. Being able to do things at your own pace: that’s the definition of being casual friendly.
In GW2 you can do literally everything at your own pace (minus holiday events, as those are time limited). That is casual friendly. Raids is the only area that I would say has the biggest obstacle to casual players, and that’s getting a 10man group together.
I’d love to hear what exactly in GW2 you couldn’t do at your own, casual, pace.
If something takes a long time, it doesn’t mean it isn’t casual friendly, it just means it will take longer to complete, but it can still be 100% casual.
People claimed crafting legendaries wasn’t casual, but I can assure you I crafted two from scratch, casually, over the course of 2 years. Some days I felt like working towards a requirement, some days I didn’t. I dictated the pace I completed things. THAT IS CASUAL.

While I definitely have my own complaints about Wintersday, I cannot help but notice that the overall sentiment expressed in this thread is: “This doesn’t cater to me.”
Challenging content is supposed to be challenging. Arguing that there should be alternative ways to complete “challenging content” utterly defeats the purpose of offering challenging content.
As far as JPs go, this one is NOT hard.
What is annoying, and one of the few points I do agree with, is the fact that people camp/stay in/do whatever they want in the JP zone excluding everyone. I feel that Anet should implement some sort of measure to ensure that people cannot infinitely run the JP and make everyone else sit and wait for their pleasure. Just my two cents.
I like brute force with heals. Tried Warrior and I liked it, but they’re too…hurr durr swing swing. (I honestly imagine Warriors are the football jocks of GW2) Guards definitely have a purpose in game, and I like how direct they are with it. They either heal/protect, or leave death and destruction in their wake. Very similar to Warrior Priests in Warhammer Age of Reckoning.
While there isn’t anything relating to finesse with Guards, there is a kind of art to how direct they are. I find that very appealing.
After the last build, a bug developed where some players’ options were resetting. I know in my case, my “auto-loot” option went away, and my choice to not show the Personal Story reset to show the story by default. Nothing major, but a bit noticeable. (In another case, someone got to the end of a jumping puzzle and learned that the double-tap reactivated on his account and he fell to an untimely and messy death.
)
Anyway, we wanted you to know that a fix for this issue is being tested right now, and once it passes all the necessary checks and validations, we’ll be rolling out this fix to make sure your settings stay set.
My wife said my “T” button (auto-loot) didn’t feel the same after I got mad at it not working :p
Took me awhile to notice it.
My tank wannabe revenant. Influenced by Disturbed style with mix of heavy armor plating.
Nice! Make me want to take my Rev down a metal influence path.

Scroll down to the “Optimal DPS Rotation” bit.
Of course I see this right when I finish leveling my engi. -.-
Hi all,
I’ve been an off/on player since the start. The biggest problem I’ve faced is the fact that I really don’t know anyone who plays. I’m relatively familiar with the people in my guild, but my work hours limit my interaction with everyone.
My request is if anyone is on around midnight Central Standard Time and is lonely/looking for someone to play with, I would love to hang out and chat. Games like this are better with people. If anyone wants to message me feel free, just be sure to reference this post or I’ll be totally lost :p
Hope to hear from you soon!
My childhood. While playing GW2. Early Xmas, thank you ANET <3
