The cosmetic armor is soulbound on use. The cosmetic gathering tools are soulbound on use. The only frustration I can see is that you can now no longer get the other cosmetics.
If people would join a wvw guild rather than blindly following in a blob.
If groups worked on getting better at the game rather than adding numbers when they failed.
Then there would be lots of small 20 man guild running independently of each other and the server lag would all be gone.
A good guild group running and killing much larger numbers IS the game. Honestly does anyone play WvW for pointless points?
Not sure if this is what they are made for but hey very handy for 10s cheaper than commander icon!

Well done Sacrx and RG! Another 2 Months and we could have challanged you GvG but we just not fast enough! Sorry to see you go. I hope the RG members take their skill to other guilds so the whole guild meta can improve.
Just like to point out the GvG TW vs RG was not fair as RG has just xfered and so had no server buffs however TW had these

They even said that dead drops would be doable until 14th because of the bug that stopped me from doing it and NO YOU CAN NOT DO AND IT IS 12th!
I had not started it so I am not sure I can do secret contact? I went to the starter hand in guy and he is gone and it is only 12th
I read that due to the problems we should be able to do dead drops right up to patch. I everything apart from this however I can not even start now /sad

Had so much fun on BB boarder last night! Thanks to the piken guilds for spreading out all over the zone and I would love to have got a screen shot of 5 commanders all running separate raids

WP cost is calculated by you level and the distance you want to travel. Use free travel to any of the citys via lions arch via mists and you can cut your distance to end destination and therefore costs down.

Now… it’s possible that the client is handling these textures in a VERY inefficient manner and dropping textures once the server stops reporting their position. This seems to be what the original post is suggesting. That would be a TERRIBLE design, but perhaps could happen if there is a large enough number of characters all in the same area.
The playing around I’ve done with it has been with people waiting for meta events to start. It seems to render/display about 15-20 models that are right around me, also any guild/party members that are onscreen no matter their distance from me. If I move to a seemingly empty spot, the models that were previously rendered disappear and new models render after a few seconds. Same thing happens after I return to my original position and the render takes just as long, which is why I think the client could be flushing the previous renders totally. If it was storing them in vRAM, I would think they would appear as soon as I got close enough for the server to tell my machine to display them rather than all at once popin. I could very well be wrong though, I’m not an expert on video game code and vRAM, just a professional generalist.
This is on a decent vid card with 1.5gbvRAM and a hybrid SATA drive(main SSD is almost full atm).
I would be interested if someone with a spinning HD could try what I did in that video and see if they also get huge CPU spikes or if the slow loading smooths it out a bit.

Either way, we’re getting a change in culling next Tuesday so hopefully we’ll see improvements.
There will be no change to the ‘culling’ at the dragon fights next Tuesday. It is only for WvW.
Just to be clear my slight fix would be to make the game hold on to the players it displays for a sort time say 2 seconds before they are ‘culled’ out for another player. This would mean as you moved through a group they would display later however if you are in a constant ‘culling’ back and forth situation you would see a much more stable display of players.
I’m not very in the know on tech stuff, but what does an SSD have to do with loading character models in an event?
If you are loading from an SSD its IO is much greater so it can rush the textures into ram much faster than a conventional spinning hard-drive.
That is to say because it can be 10 to 100 times faster at random reads vs spinning HD then instead of the harddrive bottlenecking and people loading slowly you get people loading and unloading multiple times a second generating lots of CPU work.
Sligly off topic for this forum but this is also why I think some WvWers see more ‘lag’ with the new culling system as the first thing it does when you see opponents is Unload half your ally warband and load the textures for the opponents.
Then when your fighting it is constantly in a load/unload cycle as it dynamically adjusts who to show.
If it was not so aggressive people who had under top spec CPU may get much better frame rates.
TLDR: Massive CPU use as game loads the different textures in and out of RAM when you move in a High ‘culling’ area.
I have an SSD and 4.5GHz 2600k. I was playing with core affinity while I was waiting for a dragon fight so I could see where CPU load spikes were coming from. When I set the game to use just two cores and ran back an forth though the 50 or so people waiting for the fight I could see the cores Max out as the charactors were loaded and unloaded from the culling system.
As I have an ssd this happens very fast and people can appear and vanish very fast there seems to be no pause or throttle on this so if you run in circles you generate lots of load and unload in a short space of time.
I actually think the system needs some sort of persistence choice added. That way it would chose 20 people in player range and not unload any unless the amout changes by a large number.
With the client always trying to show the closest 20 it is caught in a cycle of loading different textures.
Either let it load all the textures (guess this would not work for 32bit people) or make it pick some of the people and stick with them rather than the totally dynamic system we have now where if you have a fast enough pc you can ‘cull’ in and out 10-20 people each second with all the loading that produces on CPU.
When I have all cores on I do not have any slowing of my pc but when you run around a large group you can see the Huge load this generates vs standing still.
Game needs powerful CPU. You can get a little more from your CPU by turning off Hypertheading in BIOS. Also get a 2500k and clock to 4.5GHz and you will be golden!
I mean more like an overflow – I DO NOT want people just randomly swamping a server of their choice but people in a queue could be overflowed to a low pop server and help out T8
So you are in a one hour queue to get in to your boarderlands on T1 – would you like to spend this time in T8-7 padding out a lower pop server in desperate need of help?
I know I would take this chance for a bit of fun while I wait!
If you die or are downed you lose outmanned regardless of how outnumbered you are.
I would change just one thing. Make it so you gear does not break if you have out-manned. (well and make it so the buff works and stays on even if you get downed)
How about the bug that removed this when you die! If they ever change this buff to be useful then they need to make sure you can actually have it without rezoning back in to wvw each time you die.
With less Queues in WvW and less fighting over who should leave what boarderlands Piken now has a better community that ever before.
Yes we for this week will be focusing on holding our boarderlands. With less numbers fighting in Eternal now everyone can at least get a chance to get in WvW with their friends.
Not only that there is lots more in the 1-15 zones at the moment as people take a step back from WvW for a week and make new Alts friends and alliances.

I just find that fact totally irrelevant. RG is the very definition of a Zerg guild. ( that’s not a bad thing just the style they play) let’s just agree to disagree and move on.
Normally running with 3 to 5 groups (15-25 members) RG would be the definition of a guild not looking to Zerg.
EU is all about the fights with Guilds formed in other games like WAR:AoR slugging it out.
US more about the points and keeping objectives.

Add player kills to wuvwuv score so smaller teams can outscore large pug zergs.

It is not enough to be able to win during prime time and then lose points off peak because we are out queued. If our kill death is 5:1 in warband we should get some score to reflect that
