Yaks why do you drop AC’s at every engagement?

If you mean dropping one near a tower or keeps wall in a quick rush to take out an annoying treb then yeah, what of it?… if you mean every time our zerg meets your zerg, then i dont think ive seen anyone do that. Whats wrong with dropping one near a wall breach to help build a buffer between us and your own ac’s or aoes?

But i guess open field ballista creep is fine given the few examples ive seen happen from Mag in the last few days? still cant figure out why we keep geting called out on things we do less often than others.

Was funny to see the small party of CD players who invited me into a group last night to then compliment me on my necros look that they had noticed during the fighting earlier, surprised they even recognized me from that range. Was quite a shock, I didnt think people took notice of such things (granted for me every ones a low poly model, so i cant really notice those sorts of things myself)… now ill feel bad everytime I help mow down a CD player in the zerg, since it might be one of them.

Possible Loaded Diced for Farmed Coffers?

Im around 2k coffers now, i stopped farming the holos about 4 days ago and just started to go with what ever dropped as I was WvW.

Got 3 tickets from doing the intense farming for the first week, got another 1 while just opening 30 or so coffers i got over a nights of wvwing after i stopped farming the holos, and I bought about 20 yesterday morning and the first one i opened poped out another ticket…

So 5 tickets for me so far, and im not even trying any more after the first 3. Brother still hasnt had a single ticket and he’s opened at least 1.2k… over 20 mini holos as well for me, interesting thing is, out of the 20 ive stuck in the forge since the event started, ive gotten 3 mini shades out of em (and a troll, which i got first), heck yesterday as i was sticking the last 4 in i said to myself, bet this pops out a shade… and out came a shade.

While it may be RNG, it sure feels like some people have more or a chance than others. Thing is its pretty hard to make truly random generated numbers from what I understand so any RNG system could potentially have ‘lucky’ spots in it some people are more prone to residing in for what ever reason.

In fact, the ability to trade is what’s hurting most of the game.

How? It’s not depriving Anet of any money – all those gems still have to be bought with real cash (just by different people).
Remember, gold <-> gem exchange is a trade system that works between players. Neither gems nor gold are generated by game.

Its funny I mentioned this in chat in LA few days back after finding out that the little mini packs only went to those who used real cash in the gem store and was told I dont understand the system or economics and was being entitled, since I didnt contribute to anets coffers and my ‘time is also money’ argument was stupid (given I had to spend my time farming stuff for hours over days to get the 24+ gold for 800gems I regularly buy when I can, for some other ‘cash for gems’ buyer wanted. I dont run dungeons so its kinda harder to gather funds quickly).

Basically I said me buying gems with gold also nets anet money since i have to get Gems from others wanting my gold, so without me wanting some ones gems they wouldn’t be able to spend cash for gems for my gold (yeah thats a mess of a sentence thats hard to follow).

Somehow though im a moocher to a number of players… thing is, as ive mentioned before if they stuck up skins I wanted on the TP at a reasonable gem price id probably use cash to get my gems simply to avoid the gold farm. As would alot of others… so how doing so wouldnt gather as much cash as rng boxs baffles me (might not inject cash as rapidly as rng boxes do, but it would do so in the long run and it would probably do so alot longer, especially if they dont make the skins limited time like they seem to love doing, which in of itself is simply a way of making people panic and dump cash before they miss out). All seems to be about large quick profit over a decent long term profit and a happy custom base.

Achievements: 9 done, only counts as 7?

During my live stream on Friday I confirmed that the Dragon Ball achievements would not count towards the overall. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

I can read this as an apology saying the recent bug response is wrong and we stated they dont count at the start so they still wont count, or it could be an apology stating we gave out wrong info to begin with about them not counting and it is a bug and are getting it fixed.

So will these count, simple yes or no?

Yeah its a dead horse but still they need to be clearer.

Opening 1000 regular Dragon Coffers [Merged]

My ticket count now stands at 3, as I got another one last night from another 400ish I either farmed or bought.

So, so far for me thats 3 tickets from 1500(ish)… I also tend to get at least 2 minis from each stack I open, I was up to 13 in total since this started, dumped all but one in the forge (got 2 mini shades in a row and a mini snow troll).. so at least I have something to do with the minis now.

On a side note, ive had only 3 wooden chest drops in 2 days… brother yesterday with no MF gear was getting a wooden chest very regularly, for around 10+ yellows in total after a couple of hours. Problem is he got only 1 ecto out of all of em (hes yet to get a ticket also and they’ve opened at least 900+)… so i dont know seems the RNG likes certain people for certain things or its all just subjective.

I could say im happy now (I was aiming for 3 tickets), but the event and these coffers are still very ill conceived,

We both got holowings, which was after at least a few thousand npc kills for both of us.

Changes you do with Jade Weapons

Hammer would be larger, and its handle wouldnt tapper and be alot more thicker, what is it with GW2 and so many of its weapons having tapering handles that would mean if you swung it it’d slip out of your hands (not to mention all the staves with spikes on the bottom end).

The Hammer on my largest sized norn looks odd (quite a few of the hammers ingame do but most look decently burly). Id also up the size of the staff on norns, the longbow on my norn is taller than the character is which is nice… dont think ill ever use a character with longbow though, sure wish the staff was similar. Although given where you hold the staff and the fact its kinda encapsulated would mean simply scaling the model up wouldnt work.

Id also change the 1h sword by removing the top half and the bottom halves notch from it so its more scimitar like (what is it with people sticking notchs like that in sword blades?, its so nonfunctional and detrimental to the wielder its laughable, yeah its fantasy but there are logical rules to these sorts of things) .

Maybe lengthen the maces handle some, so many gw2 maces feel so short.

Oddly the axe is one of the better ones to me, its got ‘attitude’. Just wish axe abilities on most character where better, id wield 2.
All the others are pretty good (bar the greatsword which just looks irredeemably ugly)

Jade weapon design is nice but quality is bad

They seem pretty high detail on my PC and I can only select medium texture details in my options.

What i found odd today was when previewing the greatsword it was the high detail one moment then when i previewed it again 3 minutes or so later it was suddenly using the low res textures compared to all the other weapons and it stayed lowres in the preview window there after every time i previewed it.

Kinda reminds me of the two norn guards near the Lionsarch portal to Hoelbrak, for some reason on my PC they are both using lowres textures for their armor (their faces are fine), when all others around them are fine. Heck for over 2 months the male norn guards body had its shading turned off and all its polys where flat and faceted, somewhere along the line something fixed it…

Why not allow tickets to be tradeable or gifted to other people (but not through teh TP). Ive heard a few people say they have tickets they either dont want or spare ones, im sure if they could give em to a friend who hasnt most of em would.

Guy on my server basically said he’d trash the spare he had since he didnt need it or want it. Kinda sad and a waste when you think about it.

Farmed another stack tonight over 3 hours, and got another ticket in the last 20 i opened. So for me its so far been 2 tickets out of 900-1000 (ball park figure) of coffers, brother how ever has opened around 700 and gotten none.

Also got pretty lucky and got the holo wings as a drop from a hostile npc that joined in when we took down a node. Was saving up for the gold to just buy a pair by selling my candy, which makes it a nice saving, heck 22 gold for me is pretty kitten big chunk of time and money to acquire.

Now to try and get myself 1 more ticket, heh. Then at least i can get each of the ones I wanted. Id say its better than the Southsun crates, but kitten do you have to put in the long hours to get em. A normal casual player doing an hour or two every other night just wouldnt be able to ever work for one of these tickets with out just dumb luck, given just how many coffers you’ve gotta get to have a decent chance of obtaining one based on the perceived chance… basically you’ve gotta hit it so hard thakittens gotta give you one through shear overwhelming numbers :P

Coffer drop rate change from Holos?

just my perception, but since launch, every 2 hours netted me 250 coffers. i know, i timed it and sold them when i hit a full stack. since the patch, i’ve gotten 150-170 per 2 hours. the kill speed is the same as i had overkill aoe(they died within 3 seconds pre and post patch) so the only difference is the added 3 seconds for invuln, which shouldn’t offset my hourly rate. i’ve stayed in the same zones every time, so that’s not a variable. gear hasn’t changed.

i often go 2-3 nodes with only taffy dropping and usually it’s 1 coffer per node. i used to get 2-6 per node pre patch.

call me crazy but over 2k coffers sold…i can feel a difference

Even going as fast as we could me and one other made around 250 coffers each after about 4 hours, and this was in zones with only 1 or 2 other people in them doing the same, and we had little or no need to wait for a node to respawn. 250 in 2 hours… I dont think so, for starters the maximum number of coffers ive ever gotten from a node (ie the 4 holograms) was 4, 1 from each hologram npc, most ive ever got at one time is 5 and that is with a drop from some other stray npc that gets hit by the aoes and getting lucky and having each holo drop a coffer themselves.

That being said, getting 3-4 coffers per node feels alot rarer from my own personal experience tonight, sure it was uncommon before, but does feel like its not as often, i am seeing quite a few more single coffers only compared to pre change. Although oddly for me Ive had alot fewer ‘nothing but candy’ streeks.

Its pretty much up to oens own personal perception, and im sure none of us are really right about it.

I opened at least 40-50 crates myself in Southsun with 155% (plus the 200% from the settler buff) and only ever got a exotic Reef Rider mini pet as the most rarest ‘color’ thing i got, not a single ticket. Its pretty safe to say its purely random and unaffected by MF.

Id say they are doing what they where before, as a necro the old ones still took me a little time to take down compared to most other people I saw soloing the nodes and on occasion they get a hit in on me (especially the more equal level ones) and they could do a decent chunk of damage in the right(wrong) situation.

The other thing to consider is since the fights last longer the risen abominations and corrupted goliaths can get off their knock backs and knock downs (and the branded char have a rather powerful aoe). If they do, it can throw a spanner in the works… the destroyer harpies burn attack is actually pretty nasty. if it gets it on you and you cant remove it.

Its doable you just have to go full out, or take a partner with you, it usually brings it back up to the old speed of completion doing that.

40 rich coffers and I got a ticket. 500+ regular coffers and only 1 mini pet. Its all about luck.

Thing is, how is luck of this magnitude fun?.. this game is supposed to be fun for its customers isnt it?

The only people who find this sort of ‘luck’ fun are consummate, addicted gamblers, which id assume are the people ANets or who evers economists are courting as their primary customer base… ie those who will regardless of the odds and forehead on table planting apparent ‘fun’ such longshots provide, continue to dump real money into it all to eventually get what they want.

Which means ANet in my mind is more interested in heavy spending ‘hooked’ players for its quick cash turn around than numerous, more consistent, sometimes spending cash for their own enjoyment, happy players.

On an aside…

I opened another 300 regular chests yesterday after spending all day farming holos (bought another 40 off the TP with some spare silver, like most people i havent got gold out the wazzo to spend on 1000’s at a pop so the idea of buying up 1000 at a stretch isnt realistic for most of us as some people have suggest we do), and got 2 more minis, and a single potion. why are these minis more common than pointless loot padding potions?

Now they’ve made the holos harder to farm meaning any protracted mind numbing farming attempt to eventually get a ticket becomes even longer to achieve, I should be ok since the time i farm em the zones are more or less dead.

Edit:- had a thought the other day about this, why oh why arent the tickets tradable to others? but made so they cant be sold on the TP. That way people who have some they dont want, as ive seen with at least 2 players on my own server, can give them to people who might want them or give to family or friends? or cant the games code be set to make an item non-account bound but also unsalable? Still shocks me that devs of a game dont even think of these simple things when designing such.

Sure it might open up scams or players selling them for large amounts of gold to others, but so what? Just dont try and get them from people you cant trust or dont know.

Heres what ive got day 1 of this event, mind you I wasnt taking a proper tally of regular coffers as i did it, but its fairly accurate to within about 20 chests (i took the rough total of candies i had in my inventory by the end of the day subtracted all the ones not gotten from killing (pinyattas and DB), and also took off the candies from holograms, since the total candies I finally had was 1750+)… so…

Out of 460-500 regular dragon coffers…

1200ish candies (average of about 2 per coffer)

3 Mini Risen Knight Miniatures

5-6 Hard Potions (threw them out when i got them, i mean these are rares and they are simply a shape change with out any thing else no abilities nothing, I mean come on… there simply there to make you jump at the sight of yellow text and to slim down your chance at getting a ticket or something else more useful or fun even more)
4-6 Warm Potions (again threw em out since there worthless)
3 Cold potions (again threw out)
1 Charged potion (you guessed it)

10ish of most food types (cupcakes, choc bars etc)
4 Dragon Breath Buns
3 Dragon Rolls
8ish Dragon Candies
7 Koi thingies (these aint to bad, as a necro but they seem to be pretty kitten rare for whites but ill be keeping these)

67 Fireworks… out side of the achievement which needs about 10? of em there worthless.

And… finally on the, id say 440-460th regular dragon coffer I opened… 1 Weapon Skin Ticket, finally.

I spent 15g on coffers to start for about 90-100 coffers… i was an idiot for doing so and now im broke, I then spent 100 gems on a rich (got nothing but the usual) dragon coffer, wont do that again, simply gave it a shot to see what would happen and then spent 5 hours farming npcs and holograms in Gendarran(?) fields.

I got a ticket so im slightly happy… ill keep on farming to try and get a couple more, or at least enough candy to sell so i can just buy that kitten wing back piece, since i cant be bothered trying to get the 8k candies per day you have to get to get 100 Jorbreakers before the event stops…

edit:- Brother opened around 300 got 2 mini knights and nothing else interesting besides the standard potions and food.

I have 2 comments on all this topics:

2. Do these boxes really matter? You don’t HAVE to buy them, they are only skins. I don’t buy them, but the people who do buy them give me free content updates.
+ This is very harmless, what if we all stop buying them and Nexon decides, we don’t make enough monies let’s put OP weapons in the store!

Yeah acquiring skins DOES matter, If i cant get or at least work reasonable realistically to get something like a skin… why would I want to play, why should I play at all?.. after all what else is there to do in this game?.. its the only ‘Fun’ thing to do thats left (and so far none of them have been ‘fun’ since Christmas (I at elast came away from that with a few skins i still have after having a fun time) thanks to the ultra random chance factor)

Why cant I farm gold for gems or use some $ to buy some for a skin (Like the Bhrams skins, which arent as over represented as some people have made out, hell I think im one of 3 people on my server who use them so no, letting people buy the skins doesnt make them any less special)… why do we have to farm npcs ad nausium in order to possibly find a rare ticket or drop random amounts of cash for the same ends to simply enjoy the game (and hey there isnt really anything to enjoy in this game any more honestly except acquiring these skins as ive said)

I hoped they’d do something different this time (at least let us buy the kitten tickets with gems), but no I mean who here has actually seen a player with a Sclerite weapon?… for me, the entire time since Southsun started… ive seen just 1, just 1 and thats in dozens of overflows and my own server… this will be no different (And i bought supply crates, learned my lesson fast on that one).

I only really play this game for WvW, and thats getting staler (again)… only thing that brings me back is the hope of being able to get something nice for my characters or two with the odd event… so far none of them have been ‘Fun’ nor fruitful in that endeavor.

So really, little remains for me to even contemplate dropping cash in Anet or NCsoft (does who matter really?) lap for this game… and im sure theres a hell of alot of others just like me and growing in numbers every time we get another “throw cakitten us until we think maybe we’ll give you what you want” event. I dont function with the ‘at any cost’ to acquire mindset that Anet/NCsoft is preying on, so for me the only way Anet/NCsoft will get my money is by letting me get this stuff when I desire it (even if i have to work a little for it)… no other way, so till then, No $$$ for you from these pockets.

Its bad enough there so often one time events also… Im through being a shmuck.

Edit:- I want the Staff, Shield and Sword, If they sold the tickets for 800 gems each that would be 30$ instantly in their bank account from me, since i cant be bothered spending days farming gold for the gems, especially given the current gem/gold conversion rate. Id happily do that… guess they dont want my money AND a happy/returning customer.

Emergency shutdown till siege weps are fixed.

I quite like the current situation, you have to use golems and defend them to take down gates. And you actually have to fight rather than hide behind AC. It’s fun.

So defending say OL while outmanned buff against 50+ mags and 7 golems with no siege in EB is fun (as happened last night for us).

Ah thanks for clearing up my misconceptions of ‘fun’, i was sure it was ‘frustratingly boring’, glad i was wrong.

Sure i guess if your in a teir 1 or 2 matchup where your zergs are all in the 50+ range and all maps have 24/7 coverage its all fine and dandy, but in the lower teirs this lack of siege has created some huge imbalances (we cant even attempt to defend what we used to be able to hold against larger, well covered servers) and most of us on the wrong end of that balance are basically saying ‘sod this’ and doing other things.

Its like the ascended gear and there 250 stacks of badges… its always balanced with the top tier as the control, sure in teir 1 every ones got bank spaces full of stacks of badges… ive had only 3 stacks total after 9 months of play and my servers been mostly in 4-3 teir matchups. but no set everything up with the extreme case as the benchmark for balance, and forget those are at the far opposite end.

Some one cares more about PPT and less about the fights.

In that case lets remove all keeps and make the battlegrounds one big flat plane we run around on having fights, working for the PPT creates the incentive for fights usually, hey im a Yak and we usually just like the ‘fight’ but if you cant even the field when your outmanned then even the desire for a ‘fight’ disappears since sometimes you can only get that fight if your the one in a defending position… which is impossible at the moment.

And frankly im appalled its taking them this long to fix it, dont they have change logs in their coding department? something somewhere was changed wrong by someone, it cant be that hard to pin point in a timely manner.

Sclerite Weapons Tickets - Next to Impossible

Been farming SS about 2-4 hours a day since it started, ive had a total of 14ish crates in that time (plus 3 I bought, not doing that ever again, heck should have stopped at one, i feel sorry those who actually have an uncontrolable compulsion to spend cash on gambling for a ticket in the TP).

All ive gotten so far is 2 consortium crafting tables and a ticky mask.

The drop rate on supply crates has gone down regardless of what they say, first few days every wooden chest I got had a supply crate in it (about 6-7 in total) and given the pointless stuff you get from them 99% of the time I was thinking heck give me the regular rares instead please at least I can get some funds or ectos from them. After those first few days it went down to about every 3rd wooden chest would contain one ,the rest would be the usual level 75+ rare… so ive sort of given up in getting a ticket, since i doubt id every see one given the once in a blue moon crate actually giving me something outside of pointless materials.

This is with 355% MF by the way…

Of personal interest I found my first exotic drop from a wooden chest since I started playing at early access… yes thats right, since the game lanched ive only had 1 exotic drop. This game has some seriously bad random number generation (yes thats how random works, but still, 9months(?) and only 1 exotic drop).

And no I to have not seen a single person with a sclerite weapon either on m server or in any overflows ive been in, although I did see someone get a ticket on the second day. I bet you that come the latter parts of this event (ie the dungeon run) they start to drop like flies or at least there will be a high chance of getting a ticket from something like the Karka Queen, again I feel sorry for the people who spent loads of real ingame cash on SSC’s before then.

That being said Im gonna keep farming, since it makes a change of pace from WvWing in the evening and at least I can save up ectos and materials for all my alts 80 gear while i fool myself into thinking that next crate will have a ticket.

At least it gives my rather useless engineer something to do to make me feel like the hours of leveling them was worth something :P , Why didnt they simply put the tickets as gemstore items, say 800gems? or like Brahams and Rox’s weapons 600, i actually bought those and i hardly see anyone using them outside of myself.

Find it funny people still comment thieves as being zerg un-friendly.

Last night and on many other nights for months ive watched or had thieves literally charge our zergs target on me or some other light armor wearer bring them down in a few seconds then run back to their zerg full health only to return 10 seconds latter for another target… if anything a zerg with more thieves is better than one without any.

Now people might say, your zerg needs to get them or aoe them, well… if our zerg focuses on the 1 or 2 thieves running around inside it then the thiefs zerg is suddenly not being concentrated on… so in many ways its a loose/loose situation, ignore the thieves start loosing comrades quickly (either through kills or tying up individuals) or try and kill the thieves and get aoed heavily by the thiefs zerg.

Thieves from my own experience (sure might be different on teir 1-2 where you have 50+ zergs as the norm, but for most of us 10-20, with 10-14 as average is the norm for zerg size) are pretty much one of the best professions in WvW, the only place they probably dont excel is taking fortifications given they cant really do all that much apart from take out respawners coming back (which really is again a very important and pivitol job, although maybe not on 1-2 teir matchups given the population).

Frankly ive found my necro to be the funnest wvw class so far though, my original main was an engineer… took me a while to learn my lesson with that one (ugh there terrible at basically everything outside of farming), then my new main was a guardian, sure they have survivability (if you consider lasting 3-5 seconds longer than every one else but still dying and getting hardly any badges to boot fulfilling) is great but meh, they might prop up others but you dont get anything from doing that and why would i want to spend all my time working so others can get the rewards.

My necro though, at least I can hit (I wouldnt say kill) things and i can do some interesting stuff, like others mentioned plague blind is great… if every one else in the zerg takes advantage of it, which is rare. And good survivability to boot.

I do have an ele, but unless you go DD or fire staff there isnt to much point to them, ive tried a few other set ups but really they just pale compared to those and are just not that fun (Hate the 3 second delay on earth staff bleed aoe completely ruins that otherwise neat skill), and id rather play something taht isnt a cookie cutter than everyone else.

Ive almost tried to make a thief myself, but it just feels dirty… one day i will.

As a yaks bender all I can do after reading the last few pages is scratch my head and shurg.

Our server ever the third wheel.

Although id like to say thanks to the asuran maguuman who didnt spike me after i took out the redbriar(?) sentry in their borderlands 2 nights back on my upleveled necro ) spent most of that night running around seeing what I could get up to in there before being caught. Very nice of them to let me get up and claim my meager capping reward, and also the 2 other mags who where dueling Junny Purr beside Redbriar… first time ive seen that sort of civility so it was an interesting change (and in mags borderlands to boot), was a surprise after basically being forced to ditch EB due to the late night green tide taking everything we had from out outmanned hands, after loosing OL most of us said meh and went else where.

Not sure how you guys can play with all the drama and egos it seems fills your place… sounds tiring.

Hehe yaks finally got their se tower after outnumbering us and having trebs and mortars pointed at it for well over an hour. Some amazing tactics on YB’s part like running into a sieged up breach repeatedly and trying to drop open field arrow carts / catapults and retreating.

Kaineng salutes YB on their fighting spirit and endurance. You won the battle and beat Magumma. God forbid that other realms use ACs besides Magumma.

This is why Mags in my mind is becoming the new DB (they’ve always been like them in a way but now their top dog in our teir its gotten a little worse). At least you Kainegs seem to be more like yaks now that you’ve lost your ship jumpers (and by that I mean in attitude). Thing some mags just dont seem to realize is thats just how we Yaks tend to do things and from what ive seen since launch we’ve always done it like that (its more about the fights than the points)… and we are still in teir 3 so it must have some effect on our standing, despite our flawed ‘tactics’ we havent dropped down yet..

Hell we held SM most of yesterday from repeated pincer attacks on the lords room by both mags and kain, and we foiled a large kain zergs attempt at capping the keeps control point for a good 10 minutes (managed to keep the circle red the entire time) and drove em off and out.

Only lost it to a mag zerg of 40+ when it came that inevitable time of the day when most of our players go off to have a life or take there nightly constitutional… that being said we fought to the last against at least twice our number. After that most of us in EB left for greener pastures.

Hey last I saw we are doing better than last week, and theres hardly a huge gap between all 3 of us, which is good. So dont scoff oh ye mags at how we do things, its clearly working, and we dont have the coverage you do so with that in mind its working very well indeed.

Thieves are fine, and quite frankly a lil underpowered in a lot of areas. Yes thieves get stealth, and yes its a PIA to kill a GOOD thief

Problem is no one really wants to take the time to learn how to play/play against thieves….everyone wants to come and scream nerf. Take the time learn the mechanics, and then crush any thief afterwards…..

Its not hard people

The problem there is that the level at which a player is considered ‘good’ is alot lower for thieves due to the inherent gameplay mechanics for them. So many of your regular attacks have move toward or away from target built right into them its stupid.

Not like my thief can jump into a 30 man zerg first and always survive by daggerstorming with malice signet on.

your thief however can spam Cluster bombs poison and stealth to run away from the zerg .

Running away is NOT a positive…I don’t see why so many people think being only able to run from a zerg somehow translates to a good thing, while Guardians can tank through zergs with ease.

One is fighting and helping out their team. The other is trying not to die.

Running away is a positive, given it means you can escape long enough to pop your heal and come right back.

Ive played a guardian since launch, im not particularly good at them and i play more for team support more than anything else. To think a guardian is OP is a joke, Our heals do little to actually sustain ourselves or team mates in typical zerg v zerg fights (and I used to run my guardian in full healing gear with the staff heal doing 2.5k at most… I mean what on earth is that going to do in a zerg v zerg?)

Apart from our tome of courage (which ive learned to appreciate immensely recently, 30 seconds of being able to spam aoe heals, 15s protection on allies and a 5s cast full heal can keep up a small team against a bigger one extremely well), healing is pointless.

Anyway what im getting at is, recently ive gotten myself a far more tanky set of gear and traited more defensively and yes ive noticed a large difference in survivability over before. I can survive 5-6 seconds of 10+ people focusing on me but I still go down, and I do little to any real dmg (come on, with my hammer aoe I do at most 2k dmg on a crit to 3 people, and my mace does at most 500-800 dmg per normal swing, if i can hit the target to begin with, i swear there is something buggy about maces attack range compared to other melee weapons)… i last twice as long as i did before, but just like before i do half to 1/3rd of the dmg of any one else.

My main job in a zerg now days is keeping nice long (relatively 7-8 seconds) Protection, Stability, Retaliation and a meager regen up on those around me while poping blast finishers on my team mates aoe fields.

None of which gives any sort of material reward like badges or loot.

Want to talk OP?, how about a thief that can harry a small zergs attempts at a supply camp take indefinitely while calling in his zerg and still get away alive. No other class can do that.

Sometimes i wonder why i even play my guardian… so little personal reward.

Wildstar is going even further by allowing dungeons to scale from Solo all the way up to Raid size groupings. IMO, they get the new Paradigm, while some at Arenanet don’t comprehend that paradigm, even though GW2 itself has spearheaded the current paradigm shift for the MMO genre!

Wish this was the case with GW2, me and my brother ran AC story then path 1 recently (the first time both have done any dungeon content), we both have 80’s in full exotics and we had watched some duo runs by others.

Story mode was decent, most fights where easy, occasionally we’d wipe and the lovers boss fight took a few goes to work out a stratergy and in a few points we had to rally one another but managed to complete it.

Got to path 1… 10 goes at the spider queen we finally downed her, each time it got easier as we learned what to do and what not to do (even after watching vids of her fight)… unfortunately, we reached Hodgins and thought it wouldnt be to hard 6 mounds to destroy two pop at a time was our initial expectation with mound kills being tracked. Well couldnt get past that bit as a duo, tried everything even trying to round everything up as one of us took out the mounds, no luck (maybe more dps would have done it, hes a mesmer im a guardian), now if as a duo the mounds spawned only 2 at a time and the next 2 only spawned once the first 2 had been destroyed (we just couldnt kill the initial spawns no matter how much we hit em for some reason so no idea if the gravelings continue to respawn if the mounds arent killed first).

So yeah, if they scaled dungeons from 2man to a full party it would be quite enjoyable, and challenging. Just surprised they never did, i wouldnt go as far as making solo versions, but duo and up would have been great.

The whole experience sort of made the idea of running dungeons off putting, surprised to hear AC is harder than the rest, might give some of the others a look see.

Actually that’s exactly what happened. Those large WvW guilds you witnessed the last time matched up with us have left out server just last week. We lost 4 major WvW guilds. We are now trying to hold our own without coverage, hardly a commander on our own borderland and people who are getting burnt out on top of real life xD So yes actually the numbers you see now are maybe half of what we use to have. Majority of what you are seeing is the people who have always been on Kaineng since T8 and a few newer people who didn’t wanna abandon the server. So we are working twice as hard as we should have to, just to keep up.

Id say this is a good thing, and welcome to the club (from a Yaks bend perspective we’ve got some pretty big holes with coverage, not sure about Mags but they seem to be in the same boat to a degree).

This time last week db had nearly twice the points or so of mags and us… so yeah, you guys loosing all those bandwagon jumper guilds who think its somehow effects them if they are on a server that drops a tier was a good thing, this weeks been nicely balanced and ive not yet clenched fist at a green zerg yet (which I did with db… all the time).

Long may this match up continue.

So thieves get a buff (stealing boons) and warriors get a buff (im assuming extra damage for an opponents boons)…

Yet my guardian who ive been trying to make viable in WvW outside of staff/gs builds, and finally settling into a tanky/retaliation build (retaliation does very little damage to begin with outside of channeled ramping up attacks and i wanted it more for a hey ive tagged a few people so if i survive this nightmarish zerg i might get a bag or two finally) is now going to do even less dmg with ret (oh and some thief can nick my long duration specced retaliation to boot and still hit me for 15+ times the amount of my current ret dmg any way in a single hit, i think my current ret dmg is 360 something)… was hoping to use them as a gate/wall protector, throw up protection and long duration ret and stand in the aoe as a deterrent, and on occasion kill an unobservant over zealous enemy.

Not to mention my engineer has been having fun in WvW finally after months of not playing them by using confusion (compared to my old grenade spec that just missed 90% of the time due to zerg lag and moving targets)… and now its being nerfed before i even start, given that to use that confusion on my engineer ive got to be right on top of people with Pry Bar or Confusion bomb so im in the middle of a zerg 90% of the time which means often those attacks miss… or im dead before I can get em off.

Im speechless… and im sure given the form, these reduction will be alot more larger than they should be.

Not to worried about my ele, I often forgot I could even do that with my focus (granted their my newest character). I can understand its possible issues in huge teir 1 sieges where you’ve got so many of em you could perma protect from siege i guess, but in the lower tiers its often (when we remember) all that stands between us and the larger server taking every thing (protecting our siege as we try and counter their siege trying to take out ours).

It might surprise you but it was in fact us farming you for badges.

After we lost SM after an hour or so of holding it we basically set up a ‘kick the hornets nest’ scenario. We’d smack SM, knock a wall down run in fight a bit and lead the DB swarm into our killing zone, rince and repeat… with the call ‘Man the siege!’

Its funny how often you lot got pulled into it and smashed by our capped out siege (yes we had capped out our limit on siege in the EB).

So yes, thanks for all the ‘lotbags’ db.

YB and Mag are still putting up some great fights but I don’t think they are fielding the full force, or focused anywhere near as much on the scoreboard at this point.

I think they are using the time to farm some loot and practice tactics.

The current score is not reflective of either server’s true capabilities in my opinion.

I just hope most people do not let the score go to their heads. I expect next week to be a sharp contrast to the last two weeks we have had.

Dont think its been about the score for Yaks in months (granted Ive only come back since 2 weeks ago from a 3 month break). And i think Yaks is putting everyone it can into the fights or who wants to fight into them since numbers wise its no different than usual (although seems mags is pulling back a little).

Really we aint going anywhere, so why even bother thinking about the score. Rather have fun than worry about our placing.

Oh and thank you db for all the bags yesterday. I enjoyed trebbing you with my fellow yaks in the gully south of OL courtyard… why exactly did you attempt to pincer our forces their 3+ times… after the first 2 failed badly. Wonder if the 7 siege golems are still inside, we never did get to use them

off topic- Sheesh, my first post was infracted… for being possible derailing causing, blimey these forums are harsh. First time im ever had any sort of warning on a forum, in 15 years, and its over an on topic rant about our match up…

Now to rethread my message from 4/12 to this forum, even though it applies to all the weeks..

I dont agree that MAG’s worst map is EBG, when I am in EBG commanding we are able to hold and fortify our section as well as pressure YB & DB. I have stolen SM and adjacent towers numerous times from them and I have even gotten into DB’s keep more than once making them freakout and pull from their BL’s. While I can agree that overall we are severely lacking in EBG because of coverage and few known commanders going in there and leading, during those hours that I am commanding (as well as a very small number of other commanders, for example Xushin) we annihilate YB & DB. I have been told that as soon as I log we lose everything which is unfortunate but that is the nature of this matchup I suppose. Also, in EBG the YB & DB zergs suck at open field combat, they run from our zerg more than they engage us, while some may say who cares cause most puggies go to EBG, this applies for MAG as well so coordinate your puggies better! Almost all voice-communicating MAG players are in the BL. The only time YB & DB find success against us in EBG is when they hold a numbers advantage too great to overcome in almost all cases. I also find it comical that these two servers are so interconnected that they double team us constantly, infiltrate our voice communication software (mumble), and they still can’t dominate us in EBG until we all log off. Keep up the noob work and cheating.. YB & DB I love wiping your zergs and getting all the loot, your lack of skill in combat funds my commanding operations.

‘steal’ is an apt use of words :p … nothing more infuriating than doing all the leg work and having Mags turn up kill us fighting the lord or right after db hits us and taking the tower or keep we did all the work to get into… it happens enough.

Most Yaks tend to run when we have to few, but dont have the outmanned buff, i sure as hell aint gonna spend silver for repairs throwing myself at a meat grinder, not to mention running means we can quickly turn around and come back while your distracted and take a few from behind.

And i dont think Yaks and db has ever really teamed up… the number of times ive found our zerg stuck with db on one side and mags suddenly popping up behind aggravating, and you can sure as hell bet that if a yaks zerg finds db and Mags going at it we’ll dive in, it isnt double teaming its simply taking advantage of the situation.

Its funny hearing what the differing views of reality are for all sides. Its like each is seeing a completely different version of events.

Also …. since when has Yaks ever had an actual numbers advantage when theres been a solid presence by db and Mags in EB. In the last week ive only had to que for EB once (and that lasted all of 10 minutes).

Well must say that EB fight in yaks corner of the map was epic tonight… out manned 3:1 by db and we drove em off time and again and foiled one keep take at the lord, took SM and then held em off in the SM lords room for over 12 minutes with em coming down all points of entry.

And made em all bugger off to YB BL after foiling their attack on Vel :P

Now if all our fights where like the last 4+ hours I wouldnt mind db so much. Granted there was some high strangness going on this evening… not bad, just odd crayzie behaviour on db and Mags part (oh it was a peace march… hmmm).

More of tonight please. I dont mind loosing or small victories, i just dont like loosing badly or getting no victories.

Tonight was what I play this game for.

In any case, you’re right. We are winning this tier because of our numbers. I won’t generalize the “skill” of a whole server, unless my intention is to poke. There are good and bad players everywhere.

I was being harsh sorry for that, and I apologise for taking your post the wrong way.

Not belittling any of db’s actual skill level on a player level, just that in our tier the coverage seems to be the biggest issue, and db simply doesn’t suffer from a problem with it (from what ive experienced as someone who plays in the later hours)… being rolled by db zergs all day regardless of how much effort you put in can make one a little jaded (the odd poster on here or on other forums from db talking about how amazing they are grates on me when from our view point it sure doesn’t feel like ‘skill’ on their part).

Im simply with those who want to see a change even if it means we get another db in the form of Kain, something, anything to get a change (im sure kain does somethings differently to db) and make it a little more interesting.

Hope you guys get enough of a score this week to move up, its for the best of us all, Yaks, Mags and db, im happy where I am and simply want to fight a fair fight, you can have and play the glorious ascension to t1 game all you want.
