Something has been lingering in the back of my mind as I read through all of the “people exploiting this offer of 1 unid for each already unlocked dye on your account are going to make so much cash monies” posts.
Let’s say I have 5 characters on my account and I want to unlock a dye on all 5 to get 4 unidentified dyes plus the color. Most people aren’t going this far, but let’s pretend I’m extreme and have a ton of free time on my hands. I buy said dye on the TP for 15 silver on all 5 toons for a total of 75 silver.
Now patch day comes around and I get my 4 unidentified dyes for that color. Each one is only going to be selling for around 20-25 silver when this patch drops (speculation but probably accurate). So I sell the 4 of them for 25 silver each for a total of 1 gold. Now I take out my listing fee of 10% to get 90 silver. So for all that time, and effort, and hustle, all I really get is 15 silver coins and a crappy dye I probably won’t use.
Point is – when you break down the numbers, people aren’t getting rich on this exchange program. The dyes don’t need to be account bound, the economy is going to be just fine.
Getting Loot from the Legendary Mobs

Okay? I think the entire point is to defeat them and move on to Scarlet. I don’t think they are meant to give you much in the way of drops. (I mean, that’s just my opinion. We’re doing the meta event, so I didn’t expect anything until after we completed the entire thing.)
My issue is that those mobs drop the Power Cores needed to upgrade my Ascended Spinal Back and I really don’t want to buy them from the TP at great cost.

Right – I’m saying not even a gear box. Literally nothing after the fight was over 3×. I heard many other people saying the same thing in map chat.

Is nearly impossible solo. There now exists many repeated instances of people doing all 3 Legendary mobs, contributing for the entire fight, getting gold achievement, and getting NOTHING for reward. How am I supposed to upgrade my back item when I can’t get anything to drop loot. Please fix.
With my pace I’m earning my money, I could perhaps have 600G by the 2014 April, that is assuming I play daily, which is kinda ridiculous since I’m already quite bored with the game. Gambling is the only option it seems.
Most people on my server said that they got their dawn with approximately 300-500 attempts.
500 GS with current prices is 220G which is almost 1/3 of the Dawn price.
There is a serious flaw with your math.
Just a thought – I find it ironic when people say “The TP is bad because people make so much more money there than just playing the game the ‘way it was meant to be played’”. It would be like if you worked at McDonalds for minimum wage. One day a construction worker comes in for lunch, and through conversation you find out he makes 3x what you do per day without needing a higher education. They have openings, he says! Currently hiring! But you just think about what a pain it would be to have to learn something new, to change your routine, so you just say “Thanks but no thanks… oh and I also think the Government should outlaw people from making so much since I can’t either”. The construction guy just shakes his head and walks back to his much more lucrative employment, which the fast food worker could have been a part of, but couldn’t be bothered to learn.
That is not the reason at all most people don’t flip the TP. It has nothing to do with learning something new and everything to do with hating staring at the TP screen for hours at a time. That’s not what I bought, I bought Guild Wars 2. I think.
A more accurate description would be a McDonald’s worker that loves his job, and a construction worker saying well if you ever want to make more money, you can do this job. But wait, the McDonald’s worker hates construction work, and would rather do something he enjoyed with his time. So he continues flipping burgers because he enjoys it even though he knows he has the ability to make 3 times the money.
Right, and I actually agree. The follow up though is that the McDonalds worker doesn’t enjoy having hand-me-down everything. Misses the new flashy toys when they’re released. Feels angst during Xmas as all their friends get new fun toys and they are stuck with the same old Nintendo 2DS from last year. I get that people don’t enjoy playing the TP. I don’t enjoy playing the TP as I do the rest of GW2. I do, however, love my 2.8 legendary weapons, best of everything, and unlimited access to anything I want in-game or on the gem store at any minute of the day. I choose to trade 1 hour a day doing something that isn’t the pure ‘reason I bought the game’ to allow me unlimited access in any capacity to any other part of the game. If that makes sense.

Spend a weekend unlocking the Explorable version for every dungeon you regularly do. When you want to run it, enter first, then start the LFG posting. Make it clear at the beginning that you started the instance. I usually say “Just FYI everybody I started this instance”. Even when I mess up badly, I’ve never been kicked (because they kick themselves too). Problem solved. If you don’t like the solution, you deserved to be burned. Take back the power. Saviorself.
Question to people with 500+ gold:
Wtf are you doing to get that much gold? Champ farming?
My account has about 600 hours of /played. 400+ of those have been spent leveling 3 toons to 80 and equipping ascended gear (trinkets) for them. The remaining 200ish hours I have spent studying patch notes and their impact on markets, finding trade lines I wanted to work with and markets to learn in and out, and played the TP game. I have Quip, Incinerator, T3 armor, and will make my Dreamer this weekend once I can get a kitten buy order to fill for The Lover. The BEST way to make money in this game is learning how gold/mat inflation work and which patches will impact varying investment opportunities. I feel like garbage spending an hour doing the FGS champ-train, making 8g when I could be making 80.
~1.1k in liquid gold and another 600g of investment assets pending sale (favorable ROI).
This feature was added very early in the game in an attempt to thwart TP botters. Instead, all it really does is punish regular players. The TP botters just get around it since time isn’t a factor for them.
Not necessarily a bad thing but I’m wondering why the changes weren’t listed in the patch notes?
Also – apparently we need to kill Zhaitan in addition to Jade Maw now.
Try deleting the cache:
Since you mentioned the task manager, while GW2 is running (and you’ve opened the TP), open the task manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC) and select awesomium_process.exe. Right click it and open file location. It should bring you to a gw2cache folder. Close GW2 first, then delete the data folder within the gw2cache folder (within the data folder is Cookies and a Cache folder).
BOOM! Healix for Prez 2016. Thanks buddy!
Hi BLTC Forum -
Since the patch yesterday I have been unable to buy or sell items.
The BLTC pulls up fine. The pickup tab, currency conversion, and home page for the gem store work fine.
I can’t, however, search for items on the TP or view my inventory under the sell tab. For buying, the search bar pulls up but I can’t type into it and the search button always stays grey. For selling, literally nothing in my inventory will display.
I have tried:
-Logging out and back in
-Restarting client to desktop and logging back in
-Restarting client to desktop, waiting 60 minutes, and logging back
-While running GW2, going into Process Manager and forcing the close of Awesomium etc. (whatever the separate program name is for the TP)
-Waiting last night to see if it resolved itself by today
None of these worked (obviously). Anyone got suggestions I haven’t tried yet?
Has anyone gotten more than a single harvest off a node since they began using this? I’ve noticed since I equipped yesterday that I only get single hits off nodes now. I’ve harvested the same nodes with ori sickles and gotten crits though.

Furthermore, this post really belongs in the Elementalist sub-forum, not GW2 General Discussion. We can beat the dead horse all day long about how certain foods are better than others for certain builds, but it all really comes down to how you play your class.

I would just like to update:
Logged in @ 2:00pm EST and have been playing for 20 minutes now with 0 lag of any kind. Will re-update again in an hour, but maybe they fixed something?
Sounds like the new culling models in that case. I don’t know of any way to turn it off. My processor is such garbagio that I usually run best performance in any combat situation.
It looks like you have the graphics settings on “Best Performance”. If that’s the case, avatars will always display this way. It’s the systems way of trying to improve your performance by limited load-times on character models.
To contribute more pathpings, this is what you do.
While in game, type in “/ip” in the chat window. This will be he IP you will use. Then, in Windows, click start(not sure about Windows9). Type in “cmd” and hit enter. You should be at a command prompt window. Type in “pathping ip” where ip is the address you get from the “/ip” command.
To copy it, right click on the command window and choose “select all”; the colors should invert (black<->white). Just hit the enter key and it should go back to normal. Then paste the results in to a reply.
To clarify a little bit. When you type /ip in GW2 it will pull up a number that looks like this: 64.25.33.61:0. When you go to the CMD and type in pathping (ip address), you LEAVE OFF the :0. So it should read “pathping 64.25.33.61”.
Confused me the first few times I tried.

Please at least make a comment about this massive lag issue BEFORE we get to the weekend. Today is the last day you all have before this game breaking issue causes a ton of players to miss out on playing the new content this weekend; it’s been days with no comment and now it’s already 10am on the West Coast and still no reply.
It would really make all of us so happy to just hear John or someone say “Sure guys we know it’s an issue and we’re working on it as fast as we can”. You don’t have to make up excuses or anything, just tell us you know you’ve heard our cries for help.
This is just a plea post. If you need actual information and pingpath tests, there are dozens in the numerous threads below mine all about the same issue (massive lag resulting from dropped packets on your end, not ours).
Checked everything on my end from firewalls, to settings, to my ISP. Still maintaining packet loss to GW2 servers, and only your servers. speakeasy has me at 42 down ad 4 up to San Fran from NC. Having a hard time playing the game with any sort of enjoyment. Another patch in order?, and I should just wait it out? Or Is this a fixable issue?
I live in NC also but it’s not related to the issue. Read some of the other posts on this sub-forum and it will give you an idea of how un-alone you are. The simple answer for us poor SOB’s is probably find something else to do between now and whenever they decide to fix this. For their sake I hope it’s soon, because my attention span is short and I historically spend quite a bit of cash in the gem store.
This game feels like its going through death throes right now. Disconnects, skill lag, bugs, condition caps and open world bosses, an increasingly apparent push towards finding anything to further monetize the game without improving QoL for players, and a complete lack of response from anyone at ANet. It’s like they want me to stop spending hundreds on their game and go play something new that actually works…
That’s all. Stop releasing open world content on your servers which can’t handle the stress. It is making your game unplayable. Instance that shiz.
In all honesty, how could they possibly being to deal with the condition cap? With every patch comes new content and with new content come inevitable bugs. Teaquatl patch has pretty much broken the game for ~15-25% of the player base I would imagine from the #‘s I’ve been reading here and in-game.
They literally do not have the server power to support the game in its current state, let alone upgrade it.

Unplayable being the key word. A good 6 out of the 10 top posts on this forum are about this game no longer being playable, let alone enjoyable. Not a single response from Arena Net.
Not even a “Hey guys, so sorry… it’s definitely something on our end. Don’t waste a bunch of time trying to figure it out, just give us time to fix it.” It’s a terrible way for a company to conduct business and it’s crappy customer service.
And may its not them; maybe its you;
right, that’s why more and more people are suddenly complaining.. here and on map chats.
It’s a joke tbh. Then some Arena Net shill like Xystus.3241 comes in and blames spontaneous mass lag across all venues of the game reported by thousands of people as what, user error? Gtfo…
So pretty much I’m sol? I am literally having seconds of delay between skill uses this is unplayable..
It’s pretty much a SOL situation. I can’t play either. Refuse to start tinkering around with settings… ain’t my computer that’s broken. Will definitely be withholding gem purchases for the next couple months. Not because they have a problem, but because of their blatant refusal to even acknowledge there is one.

Hello.
I’m getting this in before everything else: before a bunch of White Knights come here telling me pingtest this or that… stop. It’s not our computers or connection. We are not the reason. Hundreds or thousands of players who have never had lag before Teaquatl patch are now experiencing unplayable levels of skill lag.
To Arena Net – This is ridiculous. For 3ish days now you have all chosen to ignore the multiple reports posted to this Official Forum and the hundreds or more in-game Support Tickets we’ve all created. I have no idea why, but it’s time to address the issues.
I literally get zero enjoyment from this current state of the game. sPvP is a nightmare. Zone completion is a nightmare. WvW is a nightmare. We’re getting 15 seconds of skill lag when we try to mine a node for Gods sake.
Please take some of the hundreds of dollars I’ve spent in your gem store, and combine it with others who have spent much more, and let’s get the issue fixed. I am just logging in to do dailies, and even that frustrates me beyond all reason. Games are supposed to fun iirc.
I was wondering what your thoughts were on it. Onyx/Glacial/Charged have all seen a steep decrease recently. Destroyer fell because of the QP farm. Molten have always been pretty easy to find. No one cares about Crystal.
Is it because of Champion boxes? People finding a bunch from them and undercutting?
Is it because speculators and other investors are preoccupied with the profit potential that this recent patch provided (outside the Lodestone market)?
Anyways, looking forward to your responses.
I had to log in just to let you know how painful that was to watch. I stopped after 60 seconds of you just running around auto-attacking with pistol. Not a post-worthy video.
I hope you have better luck than me;
Throw in 4 rare great swords and get back 1 great sword of lesser value
Throw in 4 rare swords, get back 1 rare sword of the same type
Throw in 4 rare daggers, get back 1 rate dagger of the same type
Throw in 4 rare short bows, get back 1 short bow of the same typeI think the Mystic Forge hates me!
IIRC the base % chance of an upgrade (i.e. 4 RARE daggers returning 1 EXO dagger) is 20%.
What you need to remember, above all else, is that 20% is your long-term EV (expected value). In the short term (less than, lets say, 200 combines) anything is possible however. I have had recorded instances of combining 4 masterwork items 28 times in a row without upgrade.
The problem with using the MF for a precursor lies in the fallacy of EV and long-term results. Most players simply don’t have the gold to combine enough times to see the 20%. A very few run well over EV and some run under EV. They are the ones you see making posts about “I combined over 2,000 rares without getting my precursor”.

Thanks for the real answers here at the end – I really don’t think this guy is making any money off this strategy give my depth of knowledge on the market. My gut tells me he thinks he makes a few copper per off it and so he wastes the other 99 people in that market’s time every now and again. I guess that’s what happens when you have more money than you know what to do with and a compulsive desire to invest.
_How can you be 100% positive? You don’t have the information to determine if this is one person or many. You can’t tell the difference between 1 person posting a lot of 1000 for sale and 1000 people posting a lot of 1 for sale at a given price point. _
If this is more than one person, then it makes absolutely no sense given the nature and timing of these transactions. To say that a market will behave normally 90% of the time, and then 10% of the time when it appears to be very heavily influenced by manipulation to say “Oh it’s just millions of people.” What kind of kittened up stat is that? A million people give a kitten about level 75 masterwork trinkets? Get out of here. Stop irrationally nay saying. There are maybe 100 people that work in this niche market, not 1mn. The pattern occurs for a few days once every 1-2 weeks. It lasts for a day or two and then doesn’t reappear again for another 1-2 weeks. That is NOT the random acts of 1,000,000 people. Get real.
I have been flipping a few markets for about 5-6 weeks now with great success. I have noticed a weird anomaly in one of the markets, however, that I just can’t seem to place logic behind. Allow me to explain:
These events are never separate (i.e. when they occur, they do so simultaneously and are being created by the same person (of this I’m 100% positive)).
This person will buy out every single piece of this item below a certain point, lets call it 2 silver 42 copper. Then they will re-list every single one of these items back on the market at the max they bought for (i.e. the 2 silver 42 copper). It gets weirder: In an attempt to I assume control this market they will then place buy orders for 1 copper lower than his listings. So he buys out everything below 2.42 silver, re-lists it all at 2.42 silver, and then places buy orders in the hundreds for 2.41 silver. This is being done on a scale in the hundreds upon hundreds at a time.
Can someone please explain what the hell this means or where his/her profit is in this model? It’s just such a weird way to try to manipulate an irrelevant market no one much cares about besides flippers.

Minstrel is widely regarded as the most bugged and lackluster of all Legendaries. Since you did the research on it prior to creating it, you must have known about the downsides to creating this weapon right now. While the Developers have repeatedly stated that the weapon will be getting an overhaul much like the others, a timeline was never established. In all truth, myself and a lot of others hope they fix game breaking trait bugs and balance issues before cosmetically patching a weapon.
I don’t own a ranger or Kudzu, but I would think people wouldn’t want a super obvious flower field screaming out “Hey guys, move out of this aoe” in WvW.
