So, the real problem emerges...

I’m not going to name servers or individuals here because I don’t want to diminish their luck and accomplishment.

I have noticed a very disturbing issue with Tequatl that I think many of us already saw coming: People simply do not want to do him again after beating him.

A recent server success hit me square in the face on this one. In an effort to organize many of the same folks who participated to do the encounter again I was confronted with apathy, disappointment and frustration.

As it turns out, a great deal of people simply do not want to repeat their victory over Tequatl. Granted, some individuals do; however, it seems the majority (and in a specific case I’m thinking of, the leaders and commanders who organized and lead the success of the event) simply do not want to go through all that hassle again for what, I feel, the absolute majority of people agree: The rewards are 100% not in line with the required effort to complete the encounter.

The attitude I was confronted with was disheartening and showed the true colors of “Tequatl The Funless”. The fight may be the single most interesting experience Anet has put in the game, but the overflows, guesting issues, afk/troll people, general apathy and complete lack of reward have made the fight simply a “I’ll do it once for the achievements then I’m done… I beat it and can do better elsewhere.”

This breaks the encounter for every other person who wants to complete achievements and wants to engage in one of the most interesting battles in the games history. Simply because Anet did not adequately plan nor establish server capability to handle the fight (i.e., they did not first find a solution to overflows, coordination and, frankly, the ‘people’ factor).

Without the help of individuals who have already beaten it and know what to do involved as well as the capability for them to get access to the main server to participate (replacing mentally challenged people who just lay there dead and do not WP or who afk/troll turrets) it makes it much less possible for people just now entering the encounter to have a chance to beat it. Essentially, as time goes by your chances of beating the encounter become less and less. This is a severely broken game mechanic.

I want to be very clear here: I do not want Tequatl nerfed.

GW2 needs battles with this complexity and scale. But, to do them there needs to be rewards to match (so people return to the fight) and the means to build the crowd necessary to beat it (eliminate afk/trolls and force dead people to WP).

A solution to afk could be as simple as a system in the zone during the event that works similar to Sanctum Sprint where you are booted if you stand still for even a few seconds. The solution to dead people not using the WP is even simpler… You die and you are automagically ported to the quaggan WP so you can swim back alive. If you do not re-enter the event zone, the afk timer kicks in and you are booted so someone who is paying attention can replace you. Simple enough.

Speaking to the overflow situation, Anet needs to figure out their performance issues (maybe take a look at using the GPU instead of one core on the CPU for everything?") and increase the amount of people who can populate the main server significantly. The preference for natives coming in versus guests is already in place (though, if a guest has a ‘friend’ they can still join through their party but that seems reasonable as playing with friends is kind of the point).

I would like to urge all of those who have beaten this encounter to not stop doing it regularly and to instead do it as much as possible (at least once per day) to continue to help others get through it. It is not an ‘elite’ fight. It is actually a pretty darn easy one. The only difficult part are things out of most players control. If people continue to get frustrated and angry about how this is working out, there will be no one left interested if more encounters come about like this. There will be a great deal of exodus to newer games on the horizon preventing such things from even being doable at this level again. We have to continue to help each other every day. Kudos to those who have been.

Good luck.

How can anyone call one of the most, and only, interesting fights with the best mechanics in the game ‘optional’?

That is ludicrous to say the least. That’s like saying it’s ‘optional’ to even play this game.

Let’s face it. Anet is not exactly brilliant at encounter design. In fact, historically, they have been downright terrible at it. Hitpoints and one shots with immunity to all player skills is their mantra. I can count the battles that had actual interesting mechanics on one hand.

This fight is not optional. It is a fundamental part of the game as it is Anet finally showing they may have the gonads to produce a real boss fight mechanic.

The problem is, they implemented it in an absolutely horrendous way that did not involve any of the foresight it should have.

It is not ‘elite’ by any means. The fight is not that complex or difficult. Frankly, the first mob in Molten Core vanilla WoW was more complex and difficult. The only thing making this fight difficult is Anet’s inability to manage servers properly and the deployment of the encounter.

If you want someone to blame for overcrowding, stop blaming guests. They are players just like you. No better and no worse. Blame the real source of the problem: Anet development.

I believe there is a reason Anet has been so hush on these topics and it has to do with them knowing they have screwed up big time and painted themselves into a corner.

They are hosed if they ‘nerf’ it as all the lucky few on mega pop servers will cry foul. They are hosed if they don’t because it excludes over 90% of their game’s population who at the very least will become apathetic to it and at the worst will simply leave for another game because they are sick to death of such poor implementations.

Finding that balance is the what I would be spending all my time on right now if I were Anet. Because they really screwed this one up… BIG time.

The fight should have simply been introduced in a manner that all servers had equal chance of completing it without it’s difficulty being reduced but it’s fun being maintained. It is very possible (get rid of time limit, allow it to scale to lower numbers of people, etc., are just some solutions). They need to do it and do it right away before the boss timer on it enlarges again and people no longer have the frequent access to the fight.

Stop guesting system!

Guests are put in the same overflows and ‘natives’ are given priority to move to the main server. Natives always get on the main server prior to a guest. That is how the system works according to dev postings on these forums.

If you think that closing guesting is going to fix your overflow problem, let me tell you, you are mistaking.

Absolutely correct.

It’s not the guesting. It’s that you are on one of the most populated servers in the game. Congratulations.

ThePedroKid.2580

Ignorance does not justify the statement.

If a guest comes to your server, ‘natives’ still have priority on the main server. If you, as a native, are getting overflows it is due to other natives, not guests. When guests come they have to sit in the same overflows to get into the main server instance except, according to dev posts on these forums (which I’m too lazy to dig up and link), natives get priority for entering the main server.

No guest enters the main server from overflow before a native does.

Simple as that.

The problem isn’t guests. It’s that you are on the most populated server in the game. And, you say people should transfer if they care?! How mind-boggling ignorant and disrespectful. So, glad you lucked out on the server you picked at beta/launch. I did too until free transfers made it so our main top guilds could all transfer to the ‘winning’ WvW servers without any hassle. I can remember when we won all the time in WvW. Map completion was a breeze back then… Not now. One guild leaving caused a chain reaction. You complain about overflows, then you say everyone should transfer to your server if they care. Well, that is exactly what you have gotten and why you are having these overflows. You are entitled to nothing based on your server. Sorry.

I think it’s funny that players, through not skill or fault of there own, on mega pop servers, like Blackgate, talk down to players who are on lower pop servers as if their mega pop server is special.

It is not special. If you are on it, you got lucky. That’s it. People just picked random names from the list when they signed up and Blackgate happened to win the lottery for whatever reason. That larger population and diversity allowed it to field more people for WvW which amplified the affect as more WvW folks wanted to be on a winning server. Now, it’s PvE that the larger population and diversity is drawing people for.

It seems that some people simply do not understand demographics. With a larger population the very small subset of ‘hardcore’ (and I’m one of them) is also larger. The probability of being able to field a ‘competent’ group of 80+ for an event such as Tequatl magnifies as a result. Not only that but this has a compounding affect as well! As people see successes more join in and the energy grows on that server. It even spreads to other servers and more people want to come.

The reality is… There is nothing special about Tequatl that no other server could do. Every server could beat Tequatl just as easily in an idealistic view; however, such ideals do not exist simply do to demographics.

To simply argue that someone should pay substantial money and/or gold to transfer is beyond ludicrous and is simply disrespectful in the highest degree. How about people who have the benefit of accidentally landing on a mega pop server (or doing constant world switches when they were free to find the big size winner, Blackgate) when they made their first toons pay a monthly fee for having extended benefits that other servers do not have? Why don’t we make it free to transfer again and then see how excited these individuals are when their server is practically inaccessible from all the overflows from heavy over population.

The bottomline is, Anet is creating motivating factors that run contrary to their logical objectives (i.e., balancing server populations to keep loads manageable and populations diverse enough to support all activities in the game… Including enhanced WvW balance). The bottomline is, server transfers should have been $10 from day one and never free to ensure populations stayed diverse and balanced. That didn’t happen so now perceived better performing servers became even moreso as people flocked to them.

You can not argue the demographics. They exist and they fundamentally break the comparison of a server like Blackgate to servers like Henge. Simple as that. They can not be compared or judged remotely the same.

Sorry to say, if Henge beats Teq at all it will be a far greater accomplishment that anything Blackgate has ever done given their demographic differences.

[Merged] Your opinions of the LFG tool

I have to say that I’m not very impressed.

The categories (particularly for fractals) seem odd.

The description is limiting.

Once you use the tool to ‘advertise your party’ you are permanently advertising apparently. It never shuts off. We finished fractals, two pugs left our group, and the thing started posting our party as looking for fotm 40+ again! We were on to other things at that point. So you have to completely disband just to get it to stop? They MUST add a way to disable your advertisement. Maybe I just couldn’t find it (which, if the case, is a whole other issue with usability).

It also links to a ‘party leader’ whom no one really ever knows who is until it starts making announcements to you about what said leader has done in the tool. Usually the leader doesn’t know they’ve done it because, well, they didn’t. Someone else in the party did.

Everyone I played with this evening all agreed they would likely just continue using the lfg website as it, even in it’s simple, unintegrated, form is much better to use.

This tool just doesn’t feel very thought out. Maybe it’s just buggy, lacks polish or something but it’s definitely no where near ready for prime time yet.

Come to Darkhaven. The last three times I went to Tequatl (several minutes after the announcement, in fact) I’ve landed on our main server still.

And… It’s not that crowded!

Only hit overflow for Teq at extreme primetimes now and even then it seems to be dying down. Literally joined 4 minutes before the end of the event timer last night around 8’ish Pacific and ended up on main server (Teq gets to about 80% and never lower on DH).

I use Teq as an example; however, I realize this is about Jormag. Ironically, I’m getting more overflows on DH trying to get to Jormag in the first couple spawns after reset than Teq!

I always felt that is how ‘night’ should be everywhere in the game. Frankly, I’ve never really cared or noticed much when night changed to day or day to night in GW2. If it weren’t for my weapons changing effects, I’d probably never notice at all. It’s always bright in Tyria.

Fights like this, with all these interesting mechanics, are great for servers and their communities. They are fun and awesome as well as feeling very epic.

Time limits are not fun, break the fight and limit participation based on server which, frankly, should have no bearing on capability in a world boss fight.

There is no reason for a server to ever think they are ‘better’ than another server. They are just more lucky. Lucky in that they happened to end up being the one, for whatever reason, that the right persons randomly picked or ended up on. Who knew Blackgate would turn out to have all the content in the game balanced for it when deciding what server to be on at launch? Who knew? It could have been any one of the servers on that list that ended up becoming the largest, and by virtue of that size and diversity, the most successful in things like WvW and Tequatl. Kudos to those players who were able to organize and defeat the boss in the required time. It is still and will always be a remarkable accomplishment in player organization. I would never diminish that.

The solution for everyone else is simple. Get rid of time limits. They are artificial and defeat the purpose of the content… to have fun. Make it as hard as you like. Doesn’t matter as long as people can play it and have fun which the great majority of servers simply can not right now and do not see the opportunity to ever do so.

You do not need a time limit to impose urgency. Urgency already exists. There are many better reward/time ratio things to do in GW2 already. The longer the server takes to beat an encounter like Tequatl the more rewards they are sacrificing. If it takes them an hour, who cares? Doesn’t hurt anyone accept those attempting it and allows the people who want to be able to play a very interesting, complex and fun fight an opportunity to do so. Right now, that opportunity simply does not exist in a suitable reality for most.

Finally, guess what? People will still ‘fail’ the event. Even without a time limit there will be attrition if the fight drags on from poor play or participation. At some point each individual will make a decision to either continue or leave/give up. Enough leave because it’s “not happening” and it’s a fail. Simple. It already happens sometimes on Temples and other World Bosses (not as often as temples, but it does still happen). Harder content will make it happen more often.

Anet should do the right thing and, instead of messing with mechanics and hitpoints or whatever, simply remove the time limits. They were a terrible idea and removed fun from the game. Fun, and nothing else, should be what it is all about and not just for a few select groups/servers that through no fault of their own became de facto leaders in probability of success. In the end, and as a whole, players are all created equal.

Interesting discussion.

I’d like to clarify a point I made in the OP…

What makes The Crossing (and the very few items in the same situation) unique and high value was not the MF change and subsequent stat changing capability. That is not a value add as you can simply transmute the skin to anything (well, the value is very low anyway).

The real value add after the patch was that they would no longer be craftable.

Read it again. There will be no new supply to the market to meet demand.

That is true value right there and the reason why someone would want to buy up these limited items.

The often quoted statement below does not mention the inability to make the items any longer. There was no pre-patch mention of such a limitation on those items.

“The only exceptions to this rule are in some high-end weapons that will still get the ability to select their stats, but will remain tradable.”

Having the ability to control the only remaining supply of an item (at least for a month or so until Halloween assuming they are re-released and are not BLC rip off fodder) is now controlled by whoever bought them up. They set the price by controlling availability. Simple as that. That is why they would do it and that is the reasoning for why it could only be insider trading. Conspiracy? Slightly. But, that does not diminish the logical conclusion that someone knew this was coming pre-patch and acted on it. There really was no way possible to speculate that the items would no longer be able to be made. In fact, the opposite is true given how Anet kept pushing not to worry about MF stuff as it would simply change stats and “…will remain tradable”. I guess, technically, The Crossing is still tradable; however, no more can be made to trade.

Someone now controls the market for The Crossing based on information they had that no one else had access to.

The OP addressed them coming back at Halloween and why that was not necessarily a good thing.

The bottomline is, by removing these things now they have hurt many people who were either a) farming at great length to make one or b) was one of the few suppliers to the market (like myself) who sometimes squeaked out a small profit from selling them.

Both of those scenarios will be broken with a Halloween re-introduction as mats could change, availability could change, etc. Right now, I’m inclined to believe they are being purged because Anet intends to make them a Black Lion Ripoff… err… Ticket item during the holiday promotion instead.

I really wish the emissaries were simply moved back to their home areas (or some embassy in DV) but things like the weapon skins and recipes were simply removed from their inventory; however, all other (in the game other places but not with watchwork sprockets) stuff would have stayed.

It’s still possible to earn thousands of watchwork sprockets in a very short time but absolutely nothing to use them on (the new runes and sigils are largely pointless but, regardless, would not require very many sprockets anyway).

Why was Karma income nerfed by ~90%?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ThePedroKid.2580

ThePedroKid.2580

I am quite put off by the change of daily and monthly rewards to remove Karma as well as the other changes in the game. I really really really don’t care whatsoever about getting ‘essence of luck’ from dailies and monthlies. Particularly, when the amount gained is less than I make in ONE minute just walking around the game world. Seriously, the daily and monthly rewards are terrible now. Only thing still useful is the laurels and even those are bugged now. I can make more Karma and 100x more essence of luck doing one run of fractals than completing a monthly that takes much much longer. It’s a terrible change and demotivates for caring about monthlies.

I always felt Karma was the most balanced currency in the game. It still is; however, it’s value has been substantially changed. And, I feel it is for the worse.

As a diverse currency, Karma, was a perfect metric for committed gameplay and rewarded players in ways they could choose freely. Needed a little gold boost? Orrian Jewelry Boxes. Needed some clovers? Obsidian shards. Needed a good set of starter exotic armor? Orr temple vendors. The list goes on.

Karma is a great, fair, currency of which the benefits were balanced but are now simply un-fun and trivial. The starter exotics are over-priced now. The Orrian boxes don’t pay back enough to be worth it comparatively to other options available. Basically, it’s all about obsidian shards now… You simply must save every single drop of Karma you get for current or future obsidian shard needs (given all the need in ascended and legendary crafting).

Kiss those nice racial skins goodbye… They are too high a cost to risk with the intensely growing need for obsidian shards (you think it’s bad now? Wait until ascended armor drops in a month or two).

Thanks for ruining the only fun, fair and robust currency in the game, Anet.

The spikes before major patches on items not publicly stated as having drastic changes is shocking. There is very clearly an incredible amount of insider trading going on.

Insider trading is rampant...

Posted by: ThePedroKid.2580

ThePedroKid.2580

Sorry for the extreme topic title, but it’s becoming more and more evident.

At first, I was too lazy to write this post but after reading comments by a karma food seller in a karma thread I realized just how far insider trading is beginning to go.

This individual had commented on how he knew exactly what the demand for karma food was (as he made it frequently for profit) and how much sold, then suddenly, for no apparent reason, he sold multiples of what he usually does and saw a huge demand spike on the TP. Low and behold, two days later the ‘accidental’ removal of karma boosting happens (mid-August).

My personal story is much more severe…

I was one of the few people who still made The Crossing. I made them very regularly and had become quite familiar with how they fluctuated in price and how frequently they sold. Then, a couple days before this last major patch where they suddenly could not be made anymore (and we had no public warning of) one of my older listings at a much higher price sold… I found this strange as literally THREE MINUTES before there had been seven others listed lower than mine. The Crossing DOES NOT SELL THIS FAST… ever. It is expensive and a true specialty item.

After the patch it became immediately clear to me why this happened. Someone had gotten inside information that it would a) no longer be craftable b) would be blessed with the ability to pick which stats you want on it and, the big one, c) it would not become account bound in the same way other MF stat items would. In other words, you could sell The Crossing on the TP with the ability for people to pick whatever stats they want and with ZERO new supply because it can not be made anymore!!

I guess there’s no question why someone bought up nearly a dozen of them to have an exclusive supply monopoly on them where they could charge practically any price.

Did I mention that I had stumbled into a /say convo in a hidden jumping puzzle where someone mentioned the crossing not being able to be made anymore in the next patch shortly after the TP incident? How did these people get this information!?

I feel this is coming from testing and some people who have been given privileged access to content prior to public patch notes or comments. Many of them play regularly, are in guilds, and have many friends on servers. They can talk to their friends on Mumble where Anet has no clue they may have tipped them off. They may not be in the same guild or anything so tracking the source is even more difficult.

This is a major problem. The affects can be seen in legendary issues, specialty item issues and all other aspects of the market as certain players with access to this information are becoming more and more bold with how they use it to benefit (or give to their friends to benefit).

Please Anet, get your house in order and stop the proliferation of this information. Since you can’t control it, you need to make it public immediately before it hits test servers or preview servers. You must communicate these changes before these people have an opportunity to poison the well. Unfortunately, it is the only solution.

The Achievement label says: “13 different maps”

I’m correctly at 10/13 cause i have done it on:
Frostgorge Sounds
Fireheart Rise
Blazeridge Steppes
Fields of Ruin
Lonar’s Pass
Dredgehaunt Cliff
Timberline Falls
Mount Maelstrom
Bloodtide Coast
Sparkfly Fen

- If you repeat the event 2 times in the same map, you will not get the +1
- No problems with overflows
- you will get the +1 even if you fail, you just need to partecipate and wait the 45 min timer

I think there is no problems with this achievement at all, it is only hard to find the event in 13 different maps.

Regards,
M

Im at 12/13 atm, All works fine.
I forgot to mention that you need to wait the invasion ends (killing Scarlet or not), it is not enough to close 1 portal.

Map added are:
Harathi Hinterland
Gendarran Fields

If all works fine at the end of next round i got “Iron Marches” and I finish the Achievement.

I’m glad you have been so lucky; however, given the comments in this thread and others on the bug forums, I’d say quite a few people have not been so lucky.

The beginnings of the Wi Flag and it’s affect on aggro in Asheron’s Call.

The same effect can, due to the way loot is affected by MF, damage done, etc., happen in things like random loot (rng) very easily if user ID’s are not properly accounted for in the math.

I’m becoming more and more of a believer that there is indeed a ‘wi flag’ issue in GW2. It is simply statistically impossible for one of my guildies to obtain over 20 precursors from the mystic toilet using less than half the rares I have and received none. It is just not possible. That is not range… That would be like winning the lottery without even buying a ticket but because the drawing was rigged or some other outside affect occurred.

Yet, oddly, I have only 10/13. I should have 12/13.

Still think it’s not a bug? It’s a bug.

Edit: At this point, I would very much like some Dev acknowledgement as I am becoming increasingly concerned that I will be able to complete this achievement as their may not be enough maps left since Frostgorge and Mt. Maelstrom are bugged for me (seen as done before but not giving credit to achievement).

[merged] Invasion Canceler not advancing...

I’m stuck at 9/13 on the Invasion Canceler achievement. It won’t progress. The last two maps I ran were frostgorge (Friend of Fire and Frost triggered fine) and mt maelstrom.

I had not done either map previously (as evidenced by the Friend of Fire and Frost triggering fine); however, the achievement did not advance past 9/13 (should be 11/13 now).

Both events were completed successfully and gave rewards just not the achievement update.

I’m am trying another map I have not completed before (Fields of Ruin) and will update if I get a chance tonight.

Karma hoarding - wanted warning about change

Thank you, Colin, for your reply and willingness to take responsibility and let players know such a move was not intentional.

I look forward to hearing what your team comes up with to work this out.

Thanks.

Karma jugs hoarding

ThePedroKid.2580

Many months ago it came up on the forums whether or not using multiple boosters to get Karma to 95% on consumables was an exploit or working as intended. At that time, Anet stated that it was not exploitative and that it was intended and they had no problem with it. This was a major reason that led people like myself to hoard our karma and boost up to use it.

Anyone who thinks Karma is useless is misinformed. I paid for a great deal of my one and only legendary by buying Orrian boxes while fully boosted. Karma is a great bonus source of income that has been SUBSTANTIALLY nerfed now (over 45% depending on your achievement level).

It was absolutely a terrible move by Anet to institute a complete 180 degree policy decision without notifying the playerbase prior so they could fairly use their saved consumables. Had they done that, the change would have been much more acceptable to many people; however, they did not. That is why there is a problem.

If you can not see nor understand why this is bad business, then I can’t help you. But, I can assure you that it is.

Remaining Legendary Effects

Can we please get an exact timeline on when the final couple legendaries to receive their updated effects will receive them? Namely, Meteorlogicus and The Minstrel.

Judging by how rapidly all other legendary effects were updated, I can not surmise it would be an extraordinarily long or difficult process to add effects to the final few.

Please just DO IT and add it in immediately so it can be done with. No need to wait until a bunch of new legendaries are ready to be introduced. Please focus on fixing the final few now.

An exact timeline would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Please use the same mechanic as the ‘invite to dance’ to make an ‘invite to listen’ option that must be accepted before you can hear any horn (or bell for that matter) being played. Simply make it a /listen command or something.

But, PLEASE, for the love of all that is special and holy remove that stupid idea of a noisemaker from the mandatory listening list. Seriously, there are people who just sit in the bank with the highest note possible streaming constantly. It NEVER STOPS. I had to logoff and not play last night due to this garbage and suspect it will hinder my play time (and subsequent gem purchases) greatly going forward if the sound is not removed immediately.

Exotic Mini Pet Price Drop

ThePedroKid.2580

Closing this loophole in the forge only made the people who abused it more gold.

Anet screwed the pooch on this one… Big time.

People who tooled out dozens of these things and held onto them (which any smart marketmaker would do) now have a stockpile of pets that are once again worth an obscenely overpriced value that they can trickle their stock into the market for repeatedly.

Genius.

Changes to ecto salvage from rares

ThePedroKid.2580

I apologize Stego, I did not intend to direct my comments at you specifically; however, I can see how it can be read that way.

It is a fact that many times people come to these forums and imply significant changes right after patches to cause market shifts that benefit their wallets. Hence, people need to beware of such behavior. Rumors are where all market manipulation begins. It’s important to differentiate between real events and manufactured ones. As it is extremely clear to me that more than one ecto does indeed drop still from salvaging a rare (based on doing it myself moments ago and getting more than one), it sends up red flags immediately.

It’s starting to look like there is some type of bug or something if people are not receiving over 1 ecto with such high sample sizes. Or, given the fact that your results are still above the expected average, it’s just RNG being RNG.

I seriously hope it is not a nerf to ectos as the ecto economy was just about getting to where it should be (sub 15s). It would be tragic to see it skyrocket again when there are already so many people overburdened trying to get legendaries, etc.

Vote with your wallet.

The fact is, the gold to gem conversion doesn’t necessarily apply here as they are ‘limited time’ items. Meaning unless you can instantly make the amount of gold it would take to buy enough gems to get the item you are out of luck. If they were permanent, that argument would carry more weight.

What I care about is the fact that it takes 300% longer to harvest and I can’t break away if something starts beating on me. That is some BS right there.

ThePedroKid.2580

There was no change.

Just salvaged 3 rares and got 3 ecto, 2 ecto, then 1 ecto… A very good result! But, aside from that proves beyond a doubt that there is no 1 ecto cap.

Indigo Sundown is indeed correct. The OP actually did better than average.

Please stop the conspiracies and not let market manipulators dupe you into artificially driving up demand from a false premise. If anything, the price of ectos should be going down right now due to the influx of even more rares into the system (new events just added all give rares).

So funny how there’s a thread right next to this one, with a video, by someone who just solo’d this boss at level 13 fractal (not a guardian either).

Clearly, this fight does not need any nerf whatsoever and people just need to, and I hate to say it, learn-to-play.

We beat Shaman regularly at high levels (30++) without Guardians when using our alts just as easily as with guardians.

You don’t need WoF or SoA to win. You need a team that knows how to avoid and mitigate damage properly for their class as well as understand mob mechanics, movement and how to position them.

Unfortunately, GW2 doesn’t really push the player to learn mitigation/avoidance as much as just full on dps with some dodges. It takes some use of skills also (and you can still do it all wearing full berserkers dps gear… even on your guard).

Blind skills can also go a long way in this fight. In fact, I’ve personally had some of my best takedowns in this battle when we’ve had a condition Necro in the group. Go figure… who would have thought?

Open your minds and find new possibilities. Don’t just listen to the other strats people post but think differently and think of new ones.

This fight most certainly does not need a nerf. The only thing it needs is a SERIOUS buff to it’s loot table. FotM loot is uber terribad.

Flame & Frost Final Event...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

ThePedroKid.2580

Is that a joke ?

Thank you for this awesome event, ANet definitely needs to keep on like this. Several month of living story for… a fire, and 10 achievements points.

Yeah, because the experience of the story, the experience of the dungeon, the new crafting recipes, the new titles, the new weapon skins in the gem shop, and the fused gauntlets are all worthless. Right?

You mean the crafting recipes for a stat set that is subpar on every level?

Are you referring to titles that are completely meaningless and add nothing to the game?

Weapon skins?! Where!? The only ones I saw required you to spend $100s on keys for BLCs or spend $$ in the gem store to get. There was a free set of gauntlets that are MASSIVE HEAVY ARMOR even on a light armor user. The skin is so ridiculous that they couldn’t even make light, medium and heavy versions?

The dungeon? Actually, this was the best part. The dungeon was a lot of fun and a few tweaks could fix the few exploits it had; however, it is also a perfect starter dungeon. This dungeon SHOULD be left in the game as a new starter dungeon already located in starter areas. As it stands there is no dungeon for new players to learn in and this would fit the bill nicely… To bad they have seen fit to remove it. Not an entirely genius decision by any means given their complete lack of decent dungeon content and even more-so an area where people can learn to play dungeons before getting into the one hit wonderfests all the others are.

So, yeah… This ending is a complete and utter joke. It shows a complete and total lack of development capability. This whole Living Story thing has been one of the most overhyped epic fail chains in the history of MMOs with developers making constant excuses for it saying ‘oh, it’s still coming… there will be more better stuff.. really!’

After this, somehow I do not think so.

Used to run up to Fractals 10 with my Necro when he was mid20s. He actually ended up having A LOT more hps than his current set up (prec, tough, cond now) and his upscaled stats provided more than adequate dps.

TLDR: It’s pretty kitten easy to do up to FotM10 with any toon over level 10.

ANet's assitance needed - TP theme guild!

ThePedroKid.2580

I have personally known three people in game, through a guild I was in at the time, who have been banned or ‘temporarily banned’ for, and I quote, “Market Manipulation”.

These players were all legit. They all earned their gold through luck/farming/TP legit, or, through large gem purchases (one of them blew a very significant amount on buying gems to sell is my understanding). Regardless, they came into significant amounts of gold allowing them to buy large quantities of items on the TP.

In the case of the ‘high roller’, he did it explicitly out of frustration with mat pricing. So, he bought enough gold, legitimately through the gem store, to buy every single one of a certain item on the TP and jack up the price five fold.

Again, all in game interaction through legitimate means, yet, banned for “Market Manipulation”.

So, please, explain to everyone here how you can advise this individual that it’s okay when, in fact, it appears not to be.

Thank you.
