Can't purchase gems in-game

ThePlague.5426

Hi all.

I’m having issues trying to purchase gems in-game.

It continually brings up an error message asking me to try again later.

I’ve relaunched the game and that doesn’t seem to make any difference.

Is anyone else experiencing issues with in-game gem purchases?

Thanks

I want cosmetic mount$$$$$$$$$$. Don’t care for movement speed or not, My Guardian character is tired of walking.

Did you buy riding broom and carpet then? Those cosmetic mount. If arena net will sell more cosmetic mount people need to buy one already there to show they want. I almost do not see ever people use the cosmetic mount arena net already sell. Maybe demand is not as much as people think.

No they were ugly, so you are telling me that you wont buy a mordremoth dragon to ride on? Its a plain and simple lie :P

I’m with you on this one.

The current mounts are pretty boring and even though I own all of them I never want to use them as I don’t fancy looking like Alladin, a witch from the Wizard of Oz or Shredder from the Ninja Turtles.

If they had things that looked more appealing then I’m sure more people would be interested in spending money on them

Merit on a one person guild?

ThePlague.5426

One person isn’t a guild.

actually it is. The guild is named and created, it just has one member, no matter how you turn or twist it, it is still called a guild within the realms of Tyria.

No, one person isn’t a guild. One person as the ability to make a guild but according to the actual definition of the world guld, even lore wise, one person is not a guild. A guild is an organization. You can’t organize 1.

That’s why 1 person does an event and gets 2 influence, but 2 from the same guild get 20.

Anet was nice enough to allow solo players to make bank guilds, but it’s really just a tolerated abuse of the system.

You can definitely organise 1. I talk to myself and organise trips down the pub all the time. My head, stomach and wife might not agree with it the next day (well…she doesn’t with a lot of things but I pass that off as just marriage) but my taste buds do so we organise further trips down the pub. Simple

I say we go on a witch hunt! Grab your pitchforks (tridents) and Silverwaste shovels lads! Now once we get hold of them we need to let a group of Asuras ( as they’re the most alien looking race) probe them up the back-passage til they…..ok yea I struggle being serious like EVER.

On a ‘serious’ note though, I got some abuse too from a f2p player a while back when I was talking to people in map chat (he decided to whisper me). He told me to shut up and go kill myself. After he used an abusive word that’s used to badly describe disabled people I told him I was glad that messaged me and continued to do so as it meant I could report his account He then tried digging himself out and told me that it was all a big ‘joke’ blah blah blah. Just block and report those people, move on and know that at the end of the day it won’t be long before they’re banned as a result of their behaviour.

Best/worst Kick reasons (Fun)

I didn’t get kicked but I joined a new guild and a few days into it I asked if anyone wanted to do AC and they said yes. They knew I was only lvl 56 and they were lvl 80. They used lfg to find another player and one joined, he said hi, they said hi then a few secs later he left. One of my guild mates were like “The lvl 56?” another was like “Yep xD” haha! I didn’t think it was that big a deal on a low lvl dungeon but apparently to some people it is….

I’ve heard of this new fangled invention called the forum. You start crafting then you can post remarks on other people’s threads while the crafting does its thing. It’s pretty cool and I highly recomend it.

I’ve also heard of things called “books” and “newspapers” but I’ll need to wiki them to get more information about how they work.

No no no, you’re doing it all wrong. You need to tell OP about the invention of the video and websites where it’s like the discovery channel but with humans, lots of heavy petting and no David Attenborough.

This passes the time much faster but can get you in a sticky situation pretty quick!

Coming from other mmo's (suggestions)

ThePlague.5426

Ok I have the solution for making the third party add-ons work on a personal lvl so it doesn’t affect anyone else…..Post-it Notes! Just slap a few on your monitor to give you that cluttered screen effect and you can customise them whenever you want. Problem solved! :P

But no giving a more serious response, those suggestions probably wouldn’t work on GW2 only because as people have already mentioned it would make them feel too much like other MMOs.

The damage meter has been discussed in other posts and would be a good idea ONLY if it showed you your personal damage and no-one elses otherwise it encourages elitism and then we’ll end up with a rude abusive community like WoW.

Mounts would be good but we already sort of have mounts like the broom, magic carpet etc. All they need to do really is add new ‘mounts’ in that form rather than mounts that change your travel speed etc. If they added something that meant you could travel faster then it would mess with the in-game economy to a certain extent as people wouldn’t need to pay for travel.

Razor vs Logitech mice, I need some opinions

I own two Razer mice and a Mad Catz Rat TE.

The Rat TE is brilliant. I’ve used it since getting my new rig and you can adjust the length of the mouse to suit the size of your hand. It’s extremely comfortable and reliable UNTIL the area around the laser collects little hairs and dust from your mouse mat over time. This can easily be sorted by carefully using tweezers to remove it but there’s been a few times when I’ve been mid-game and it’s decided to throw a hissy-fit on me.

Now I recently bought the Razer Naga MMO mouse and the Razer Naga MOBA mouse wraith red. I’ve only had the chance to use one of them…..ok well I’ve fallen in love with one of them :P It’s not a sexual relationship but a more ‘intimate’ relationship. I know how to turn her on, press all the right buttons…ok I’ll be serious for a sec :P

The Razer Naga MMO mouse so far having only used it for a few days (as I’ve only owned it a few days) is hands-down the best mouse that I’ve ever used. It’s extremely comfortable, more buttons than I need, they’re very easy to locate without looking at them, very smooth and accurate mouse and yea I’ve never played GW2 so well in my life. The best part is the mouse wheel can be pushed left and right activating ANOTHER two buttons. The left by default swaps out your weapon and the right activates auto-run.

I hope that helps

A nuke which can only be used once a month in pvp…..that way I can finally feel like I’ve achieved something in a pvp match!

Ok no I’ll be serious for a second.

Warriors can use both guns and blades right? (you know where this is going). I reckon we should have a Gunblade like the old Final Fantasy games. There should be a weapon swap option BUT on both rotations it should be mixed between gun and sword attacks (two sword, two gun abilities).

Other weapon idea: Knuckle-duster with some crazy designs like spikes, blades, knuckles on fire, etc.

You guys will probably think these are complete rubbish ideas but I’ve thrown them out there anyway

What to do at 80?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ThePlague.5426

ThePlague.5426

You should check out the Silverwastes (most people just refer to it as ‘SW’). Me and my sister recently leveled our first character to 80 too. It’s taken a lifetime but without the help of other community members we would be still staring at the screen scratching our heads.

The Silverwastes is a good place for plenty of loot and you can make an ok amount of gold from selling it. This, if you decide to do it this way, could then be used to buy the mats so you can lvl crafting skills quicker. Yes it’s an expensive way of doing it but if you want Exotic gear asap then it’s a good way to go. Check out www.gw2crafts.net for craft leveling guides that will get you there fast and save you money. Alternatively the more fun way of getting your crafting up and exotic gear is to farm the hell out of it but this is of course all down to personal preference.

If you want to do dungeons, you don’t have anyone to do them with and / or keeping getting kicked from groups because of your current gear then you’re welcome to join me and my sister as we still don’t have the whole map unlocked and have tonnes of stuff still to learn.

There’s a few different community members that we’ve met in-game who are NOT the “Join my guild and I’ll help you” type that have taught us most of what we know so we’re usually with them pestering them with questions.

Oh and congratulations on reaching lvl 80!

With all of the new players joining it can’t be very reassuring for them to logon and find that even the most basic in-game functions don’t work as they should.

I logged off in the end as the guild chat stopped working properly. The longer I played tonight the worse it got.

If EA………I mean ‘ANet’ ends up deleting player data then there’s going to be a massive backlash. I doubt they will though as ANet are usually really good and would be crazy not to back everything up regularly.

It’s impossible to play it in it’s current state if you’re in it for the social gaming experience as the social features are broken.

Party chat, invites, leaving parties, changing world to friend’s world, etc is also bugging like crazy. All of us have tried re-logging but it hasn’t made a blind bit of difference. It’s definitely Arena Net managing the game and not EA Games right? :P

Time to nerf SW farming and more guild stuff

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

ThePlague.5426

If I don’t reply to this post it’ll drive me nuts!

Me and my sister have recently, after crazy amounts of time (spare time isn’t that easy to find for either of us) finally reached lvl 80 with a character for the first time.

The current loot balance across the game works really well and at no point have we come across people complaining about there being ‘too much’ loot.

It seems blatantly obvious that the OP has farmed the hell out of SW and gotten everything that he/she wanted and now wants it to be nerfed so that they can profit massively from price hikes. They clearly want the market to change drastically to work in their favour without a care for anyone else.

If I was greedy I would be trying to pull the exact same trick.

If ANet ever were crazy enough to nerf SW then the whole in-game economy would go to hell. New players would give up straight away as everything would be too expensive on the tp and it wouldn’t be rewarding enough in terms of financial gain.

Also anyone that converted gems into gold would be fuming as they would have wasted their real money up to this point.

Now if the OP isn’t serious then he’s just successfully trolled everyone in this thread pretty well :P

Best specs to run this game

Hey man that’s a good budget so you’ll have no problem getting a good pc that will run pretty much any game (MMO’s easily) on max settings.

Depending on where you’re located here’s two UK based custom pc shops:

www.overclockers.co.uk

www.dinopc.com

Both sites let you choose a custom setup and with how cheap everything is it’s not really worth looking at buying the parts separately to build yourself as custom pc shops can build it for you for the same price if you’re looking for new parts.

It’s probably worth looking at getting….

CPU: i7 4790k

Graphics Card: GTX 980

Motherboard: ASUS Z97 Sabertooth m1 or better

Case: Corsair 760t (big case, plenty of fans so your pc will have good airflow).

Other than that maybe worth getting 16gb of ram. I found that playing Ark: Survival Evolved used A LOT of ram as it wasn’t properly optimised when I played it a while back.

I hope this helps

*Edit: Other custom pc shops are available but I mainly mentioned these two because I bought my pc from Overclockers earlier this year and my friend and his family buy theirs from Dino PC

How to use Gems ?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ThePlague.5426

ThePlague.5426

Welcome to GW2! When I first started on GW2 I expected it to be the same as WoW but as others have said it’s nothing like WoW other than the fact that it’s an MMO. Without slating the WoW community too much, the GW2 community is incredibly friendly and helpful.

Your gems will take pretty much the whole 72 hours to reach your account unless your extremely lucky (that’s assuming these 4000 gems came with the ultimate edition of GW2).

You can’t buy power/buffs as others have mentioned but you can get xp boosters on the gem store. You get the handed to you throughout the game anyway so they’re not worth spending gems on.

Your best bet if you’re not fussed about cosmetic items is to keep an eye on the gem store exchange rate to change in your favour. As some point over the next few days it will give you 250g for around 1200 gems. Don’t do what I did and exchange for 1500 – 1600 gems. I lost out on around 800 gems through my impatience. Then when you hit lvl 80 you can buy all of the powerful gear that you want unless you prefer farming which is even more fun

Playing through the main story will give you gear much more powerful for your current lvl at that time than you’ll be able to find on the tp. I found this out AFTER I wasted loads of gold lol

Also in GW2 unlike WoW, with the dungeon loot drops EVERYONE gets that same amount of items and those items are different for everyone so you never get abuse as no-one rolls for gear.

I know I gave you more information than you asked for (sorry). Good luck!

If this stuff has already been suggested then I’ll apologise now.

1) A HEADLESS HORSEMAN FINISHER – He comes from down from a path in the sky, parks his cart over the dead player and then poof the player disappears with the headless horseman laughing as he leaves.

2) RADIOACTIVE WEAPONS / ARMOUR – All weapons and armour designed with radioactive / glowing pulsating inlays.

3) GUNBLADE – This brings back old Final Fantasy memories but this would be insane Instead of a player having a separate sword / gun their one weapon could sit in both slots so that it just changes mode when you press the tilde key. Alternatively a mechanical weapon that can change into ANY weapon as a store-bought purchase costing say 2000 gems. To justify the price even further it would need some amazing animations.

That’s me done for now :P

Ok the core game going ‘f2p’ is an absolute joke and I’m fuming right now.

Anet I seriously hope you guys turn back on what you’re doing either partially or fully and if you have any common sense you’ll compensate the veterans.

Who’s paid your wages for a number of years? Who’s given a nice warm welcome to new players all these years? Who’s helped countless players get into the game properly making sure that they had the confidence to carry on playing the game happily without support from someone else? You know who? NOT YOU GUYS ANET!

It’s been the loyal veterans who have kept your game alive, helped it to grow and made sure that you guys had money coming in so that you could pay your bills.

Now all of a sudden you throw it back at every loyal player by making the game f2p opening it up to scum bots, goldsellers, and abusive little kids just like WoW is full of.

The current community are incredible and EVERY person that I’ve met on GW2 since I started playing has been amazing with answering my questions, offering to show me around parts of the map, teach me about crafting etc.

I absolutely love this game because it has a community like no other game that I’ve ever played.

In the last week alone I’ve spent over £200 on the expansion and in-game content with you guys but since finding out about the direction that you’re taking the game…….it’s gutting

Hi there. It’s great that you’re helping out the gaming community!

I’m not after a welcome pack (other people I’m sure need it much more than me, thanks though).

What I’m after is for someone or a few people to play the game through with where we can work together, help each other out and then ideally once I know enough about Guild Wars 2 I would like to then go on to help other players. I don’t know if anyone that’s posted on this thread looking for people to join would be interested in all teaming up?

There’s nothing worse than getting excited about a game, buying it, getting onto it and then sitting in front of the screen completely baffled by 95% of things on it.

I’m completely confused when I play Guild Wars 2 and I get to portals or try doing WvW and can’t see teammates on the map, PvP, getting around the map (like what locations are for what, who etc and again…..PORTALS), my build etc.

My highest lvl char is lvl 22 so I’ve not done much so I’ll be in the same boat as you guys

Thanks

Hi everyone!

My name is Suzie, I’m 21, blonde hair, big boo….nah I’m messing! I’ll be serious now

When I started on Guild Wars 2 a while back I had two friends that started with me. Those two have gone off to play other games (one plays that cash-grab WoW).

We joined Gate of Madness even though we’re from the UK as it had the best connection for us at the time.

The only down side of this is that everyone I’ve met on there so far (they’re really nice helpful people) lives either in the US or time zones that are just as bad and in all honesty I prefer the social side of gaming just as much as I enjoy playing the game itself but when you’ve got people to do quests with it makes it more fun.

Sooo….If there’s anyone on the Gate of Madness server that wants to team up then please let me know

Thanks for taking the time to read this

Guild wars....The end is nigh?

ThePlague.5426

Hi guys.

I’ve recently gotten back into playing GW2 but (I know this is slightly off topic) I’d say unless they make gems go further by either increasing the amount of gems that you get for you money or making in-game content cheaper, oh and give you more gold for your gems (better conversion rate) then their profits are going to continue falling because right now anyone that’s willing to risk buying gold out of the game can get 1000g for about £40. Now £40 in gems (in-game) will only get you 500g.

If they offered around 900 – 950 gold for £40 worth of gems then people would be more likely to purchase gems in-game and not take the risk of using a RMT.

If you got more for your money with in-game purchases overall then people would DEFINITELY see the value in spending their hard-earned money.

As an example, Smite is a free-to-play game and they even offer better value for money on in-game content. That’s lead me to spend around £300 – £400 on Smite in the last few months (yea yea call me stupid but I enjoy it and gaming is a hobby just like any other).

I could easily spend that sort of money on GW2 but not with the current value for money. In it’s current state compared to other games it just seems greedy and they’re only putting people off of spending money with them.

Oh and don’t get me started on the Golem Bank…..how many gems?! Oh and it’s only a temporary thing not even permanent?! Yea….it has greed written all over it.

If they gave you more, reduced prices of in-game content and bumped up to gem to gold conversion rates then they would wipe out gold sellers and increase their profits overall. This would mean they could employ more staff, release more regular in-game content and push the boundaries. These guys could be bigger than Blizzard if they changed how they do things.

Already ANet has quite possibly the best customer service that I’ve EVER experienced. This is where most other developers fall down.

Anyway, rant over :P
