“It’s just one day, blah blah, you have no life, etc.” Some of us already don’t have that many days in the week to play, so saying it’s just one day completely ignores the fact that different people have different schedules. For some of us this one day is the time that would have been our primary free time in the week, which is now less enjoyable than it would otherwise have been with the fact that there is no option to turn this off.
The vast majority love this sort of thing and it’s only ONE day. Really, going to complain about something fun for one day?
It is fun for some people, it is not fun for others. There is no ‘fun’ that is universal. Everyone that doesn’t find it fun is just asking for the option to turn it off, is that really so much to ask?
1) A week, not a year. I could have stated that outright, but I figured it would be obvious.
2) It is a game, not everyone does everything. If the devs get upset because not everyone enjoys everything they makes (something I HIGHLY doubt) then that is their issue, not mine. This is content I don’t want to participate in, it would be nice if that was being respected.
The issue with the “it’s just one day” thing so many of you stick with, is that this (for many of us with busy lives) is our ONLY day of free time, and now it is becoming a choice between something unbearably annoying or figuring out something entirely different to spend our day doing than what we had planned (and actually were looking forward) to do.
The plane thing is kinda silly and funny for a time, sure. In a town, whatever, not a big deal. But when trying to do anything out in the world, like exploring or wvw or spvp or anything besides actively being silly this just detracts from the game at best. What is the harm in their being an option to turn it off? Nothing. What is the effect of that option not being there? A bunch of players, paying customers, who feel cheated of what would have been an enjoyable day.
Just a simple request, doesn’t have to be turned into a fight between those who like it and those who don’t.
If the option is there, then the ones that like it can leave it on, the ones that don’t can turn it off. Simple.
This is the main thing, why do people not get that there is no harm in it being optional? The people that enjoy it still get to enjoy it, but on the flip side then the people who don’t enjoy it don’t have to choose between suffering through it or not playing until it’s gone.
Way to paint everyone who disagrees with you as a porn-addicted enemy of fun. Someone being fed up with the airplane event in no way suggests you are dead inside, or an auction house trader, or whatever else. Some people like it, some people don’t, and complaining about those that don’t is just very petty. What is the harm in someone wanting to turn off what to them is incredibly annoying and anti-fun?
I don’t deny that it makes a difference, I just am curious if the extra numbers really matter all that much when just testing out a build. Like, if you are trying it out in only exotic gear and it just doesn’t seem to be working for you, I don’t see how the relatively small upgrade to ascended is going to change that. The ratios of the stats are not going to change, the numbers are just going to be marginally increased. I am not really one way or the other on whether ascended armor should be account bound (or tradable), but arguing from the point of view of testing builds just seems a bit silly to me.
I am not really an achievement point hunter, nor am I even a particularly hardcore player, but I do like your idea and am kind of surprised at how many people are bashing it. It makes a lot of sense to me, though I guess that is partly because I only recently returned from a fairly long break from a game, one that started back when the old daily system was in place. Ever since returning, I’ve had a sort-of love/hate relation with the new daily. I like it, because unlike the old one I have options. However, I really dislike that all of the options I just don’t care to even shoot for are essentially forever-lost achievement points. Not from a leaderboard perspective, just from a “I will never get a chance at those again” perspective. It is like an internal battle between apathy towards boring grinding vs the completionist part of me. If, as you suggest, the daily just awarded a set lump sum to everyone regardless of which or however of the ‘optional’ daily achievements they did, that seems like a fair trade-off to me, even if maybe they made the daily take slightly longer to hit the bare minimum. And it would just mean that adding more options is more beneficial to everyone in the long run, rather than a potential hindrance.
I like this idea. Class-specific gear is a pretty standard thing in MMOs anyway, so it’s not like it is a crazy new idea or anything. I’d like to see what they came up with to represent each class at the very least, and there just might be a few new good skins that come out of it.
But aren’t ascended things only minimally better than exotic each? It seems like testing a build in exotic (way cheaper and easier to obtain than ascended stuff) and then switching to ascended later should cover it pretty well. Sure, you won’t be QUITE as strong as with the ascended stuff, but the basic distribution of stats would be roughly the same and all that really happens when you switch to ascended is you get slightly more powerful.
I agree with this, and have been wondering for awhile why it isn’t already like this in the first place. The dungeon completely closing because the leader either disconnects or decides he doesn’t like the group and quits is just dumb, probably the worst aspect of the game really. What is meant to be collaborative group content is left to the whim of one person, and if they feel like ruining other peoples’ fun there is nothing you can do about because kicking them ends the dungeon and them leaving on their own does also.
I assume (hope) that the current system is only this way because of some technical reason, like the difficulty in reworking cutscenes to a new person because they are set in stone on dungeon entrance or something. If not, it just seems like a terrible oversight. And if so, please Anet, fix this.
Some recipes are obtained from the Heart quest karma vendors (and some other karma vendors), and aren’t learned in the discovery panel, so the specific recipes you are trying out might be some of those. If not then I don’t know what to tell you.
I really don’t think I could. :/ I’ve already spent hours and can’t even consistently get past some of the very earliest parts.
Will the Clock Tower be available to complete next Halloween too? There will be virtually no way for me to finish it before the event ends with how poorly I’ve been doing and how little time is left, and it would make not finishing not seem so bad to know that in a year I can take another stab at it.
So all the monsters killed me during Mad King Says, and there are no waypoints I can teleport to on the map despite there actually being one visible for me in the instance. How am I supposed to finish this? ._.
