Q: Can we expect anything in the near future (6 Months) to be done about build variety apart from balance changes? More skills? More trait options? Weapon types?
Q: Will we get more sPvP maps with interesting secondary mechanics? So far so good but they have used up most of the easy ones already.
Q: Spectating ETA? I know you don’t want to give a timeline and I understand but are you aiming for sometime in our “EXPANSIONS WORTH OF CONTENT FOR FREE” we were told about coming Q1 2013 or are we looking at “Hopefully sometime 2013”?

No you are missing the point.. I think there would be a lot of people interested. I have played so many games in which you need to put together a team to play consistently and it takes effort to put together a team logistically but there are TONS of people out there that would love to be in a team they just don’t have the initiative to put it together.
Put your play time, professions you want to play or want to play with. There could be so many more teams playing this game if people would put in the effort to coordinate them. I know I have so much more fun playing in any game when I organize a team and can play with the same people on a consistent basis.
Players must be online at least 4 hours, rank 20+ (We will practice just so you know the basics of pvp) and must change builds and game play if the team needs it ^^
4 hours per day? per week? What time do you want to practice? What days? What professions are you looking for?
When you try to put together a team you have to be a lot more descriptive. That said I do run a sPvP guild that runs groups frequently and we have been working on getting teams together. You can check out our site at spilltheblood.com or message me in game if your interested.
We might be over saturating the forums with this today Blackberries… STB will be there tonight and I keep seeing your guild member list grow daily so I hope to have many options from [tPvP] groups to get beat by tonight.
It is that time of the week again… Time to dust off the tickets sitting in your stash and que up for paid tourneys. We will have quite a few pick up groups tonight and we would love to see you out there (unless your name is Sataarcoeny) on NA PvP servers starting at 5 PST / 8 EST. If you need help finding a team message me.
Hope to see lots of you out there tonight for Paid Tourney PuG night. We should have quite a few PuGs just within [tPvP] and [STB], we have done this the past few weeks within the guilds and it has been a lot of fun and everyone is getting some Paid tourney level gear.

+1 awesome idea
I hope everyone is coming out again tonight… I have to spend the evening in the car probably in traffic but there should be an STB team representing tonight without me.
Diminishing returns aren’t needed because the duration on crowd control isn’t very long and EVERY profession has access to negating all of the crowd control in the game… some better than others but the ability is there. Also, there are very few classes that have the ability to shut people down via CC and those that can have to give up a lot to be able to do it.
You cannot compare GW2 to EVERY MMO because EVERY MMO has a healer class that is usually mandatory in PvP in most situations. Also EVERY MMO doesn’t have a dodge mechanic that will allow you to negate the CC further.
I have to agree with OP, the downed state really hurts the PvP system BADLY. No other good MMO has this feature, and it’s best left for PvE.
No other “good” MMO has a game without healers either.. downed state is fine it is a counter to glass cannons you just have to get it in your head that you don’t kill someone when they are down you kill someone when they are dead. People are a lot more durable in GW2 due to the lack of healers and downed state is the reason why.
what are the advantages payed customers have respect to the new f2p players that will come later?
in term of pvp: what do my 50€ give me more than f2p players?
if it is only pve, how can i get my money back?
You have a huge PvE game and WvW and were able to PvP for a long time before the game became F2P if you just play PvP.
F2P accounts will probably only have 1 maybe 2 character slots to start with. Also, they could make glory only obtainable in paid accounts and have PvP armor skins in the gem store.
as long as GW1 still isnt free, i really doubt they will make GW2 free
even only SPVP, not possible imo
GW1 wasn’t ever trying to be an e-sport and their item mall wasn’t built to sustain the company. GW1 business model was to come out with expansion packs to sustain the game instead of monthly subs. Going for an e-sport with a decent item mall for PvPers, F2P will bring in a TON of players and with that comes a lot of support for e-sports and everyone wins.
The QP system was never meant to be a ranking system or ladder.
The points will be used as a currency for the coming tournament types (e.g. monthly/yearly), and that’s it.The implementation of a ranking system was already annouced for the big february patch.
This… but there is also going to be daily tournaments that use QP
Barbarians would be medium armor and Ritualists would be light armor
I would love to see either of those professions added though
If you want another heavy armor class ask for the Paragon from GW1 that would be a great addition to the game.
Take the snowball fight and add an NPC to que for it in the heart of the mists. Now instead of making us play as your pre made classes let us use our sPvP characters/skills/gear/traits. That will be a fun sPvP mode and the bulk of the content is already made for you. Don’t bother editing the map and leave it up all year round and you won’t hear complaints that we are running presents around snowmen in the middle of summer because it would be fun. Ok you will probably hear complaints but at this point you are used to hearing complaints about EVERYTHING you do.
That said the snowball fight is fun and I do like your classes I just think you could reuse all this content and make a just for fun PvP mode. Don’t do tournaments, don’t try to balance specifically for this just give us the option.
3) snowball fights
but…but..but that is pvp right? Actually I would love if they just added an NPC to que for it in the heart of the mists and let us play as our characters instead of their pre built classes and we would have a fun CTF PvP game. … heads over to suggestion forum
No, there are 12 days left in the year and we just got a “major” patch a few days ago.
You aren’t a Greyjoy… twitch.tv wasn’t out in 1997
quit spreading your alarmist propaganda about sPvP
@BanderSnatch 1 & 2 are coming but I wouldn’t hold your breath on number 3. That would further segregate the PvP community which already has enough issues in that department. Well with number 2 I am not completely certain what extent it is coming with but they did say there will be glory related things that apply to PvE and WvW.
I don’t see how people justify thinking the PvP is dead when you go to play and there are still lots of other people playing. The community isn’t a large as LoL or many other games by any means but it is far from dead. Plus you see GW2 winning awards and if they come through with their huge patches early next year you are going to see the overall population of GW2 grow and with more PvP features that will grow with it.

You spawn when the clock is at 18, 38 or 58 in hotjoins
3. See my Sig… I wouldn’t say majority by any means by we are working on it
We are a growing sPvP guild that runs PuGs in free tournaments nightly
Since I didn’t make felivear’s list I will tell you sPvP isn’t dying… I do free tournaments with different people from my guild every night and I used to wait for a battleground que in WoW waaay longer than I have ever had to wait in a tournament que. Yes, paids are not in a great place right now but I play frees all night and rarely see the same team twice on any given night.
Not saying a lot of points you make aren’t valid but I don’t understand why there is this huge outcry that PvP is on its deathbed when it really isn’t.
Wish we had ppl on EU who arranged events like this
You can be that guy
You will be seeing a few Spill The Blood groups in there as well for sure… maybe we can get the ANet devs to come out and play again
The playtimes of serious teams in this currently dead game (competitively) never ceases to baffle me. Gone are the days of Sunday – Thursday, 3 hours/day tops, I suppose. You nerds really should take the weekends off and at least try and find girls.
Good luck with the Mesmer.
Says the guy that posts in half the threads on this forum
YES… I would love to see jumping puzzles or more to do in the mists
Great post I am glad to see a top player voice their opinions… it is nice to see at the top level of play the game is a lot more balanced than it seems from the PuG free tournament scene.
So PvPers don’t get anything but a decorated Heart of the Mists? It is a big let down you have such a great system for PvP but it lacks so much. You already made the skins so it cannot be THAT much work to give the skins to sPvP, you did it for Halloween.
It is supposed to be fixed today it was a bug that had something to do with the gear/skills locking they implemented.
They are going to be releasing a lot more to do with Glory some of which will apply to things outside of the heart of the mists. I am guessing you will see it February at the earliest but it is on the way.

Not to ask the obvious question but did you reject the invite before making new characters? Because guilds are account bound lol.
Of course I did not accept but it’s getting a little out of hand now… it’s not just in starting area anymore.
There is a difference between not accepting and rejecting… also why is this a problem? People are being invited to a guild randomly?
I will definitely be leading a Spill The Blood paid group in there tonight… I would love to see the Dev team in there.
Cheers to you BLU I see way to much complaining with no effort put into the community to better their own experience in sPvP. There are a lot of features we need from ANet to rally thrive and they are working on it but complaining about it all day does nothing. I would love to get into the 2v2 Tourney but I am an NA player.

The problem with free tournaments is if you que solo your chances are very slim to even pass round 1 because team play is such a big deal in the game. Join an sPvP guild and play in a semi organized PuG.
They are currently working on a matchmaking system that would in theory fix this issue. Right now a good way to get into a free tournament rather than just queing solo is to join a sPvP guild. I started one a few weeks ago and our numbers are growing daily and we have seen Champion Slayer [tPvP] and a few other PvP guilds pretty frequently and it has led to a lot of fun in the free tourneys the past few weeks.

You must be a better player than I am… the point is people made a recommendation and your saying it is a gimmicky abomination when it really isn’t. It helps a lot of people to have the extra buttons your input didn’t contribute and then I had to come back and defend it because I am bored at work.
I disagree about the Naga. I consider it a gimmicky abomination. Your thumb speed and precision cannot compare to that of the rest of your fingers. As such, it’s better to assign it to simple tasks, like hitting a single button or two.
Try dodging left and right while activating multiple skills. “Noob” skill chain aside I can keep my fingers on A and D dodging that ranger and frenzy, bull’s charge, hundred blades without having to move my hands you are probably a better player than I am but I couldn’t do that with just my keyboard and a 3 button mouse… oh and tell every console video game player ever their thumb cannot be fast or precise enough to hit buttons.
I have heard lots of players have this issue and fix it using an VPN. Not that it is a good solution but it is a solution.
Possible to elaborate?
The issue is insane, every single tournament, free or paid, we did last night had everyone freezing for up to 5-8 seconds, both us and opponents. It made the game nigh-unplayable.
A VPN is a virtual private network so you basically connect to the internet through another internet connection. It sounds like it would slow your internet connection down and in theory it does. But from what I heard this lag is specific to certain internet providers which is why some people will get it a lot even though they have a good internet connection and others will never see it at all.
That info is based on what I have heard.. I am lucky enough to never experience lag on Foefire with basic high speed internet.
Here is a good article that explains i a lot better if you are really interested.
So to get back on topic, in my opinion – don’t buy expensive “pro” player mouses since they are only good because the marketing says so, a simple mouse is good enough for gw2 combat.
When you use a mouse with extra buttons it means you have to move your left hand less to hit skills and can move with more control. A mouse with more than three buttons isn’t necessary but I would argue it is MORE important in guild wars 2 than in other games because of the ability to physically dodge abilities so you get more out of not having to take your hands off the WASD keys to move.
The OP is specifically looking for mouse recommendations which means they are willing to spend more than $10 on whatever they can find or they wouldn’t be asking. Dropping $70 on a nice piece of computer equipment isn’t much compared to how much people spend on other parts of their computers.
I have a naga hex and unfortunately I will never be able to play games without it now. I find the side buttons really useful but it will take you a few weeks to get used to it. I bind all my utilities and dodge to the 6 buttons on the side and have the top two buttons for call target and target called target.
I will say the top two buttons are a little bit of a pain to use but that is something else I grew used to and if you do get a naga hex it has 3 different sizes of pads you can use in the middle of the buttons, I have the best success not hitting the wrong button using the biggest pad it came with.
The personal scoring system is bad and it is going to be reworked. Personal score is based off all the things you see at the bottom of the scoreboard primarily kills and point captures while the majority of points your team will get is typically based on holding points which you don’t get any personal points for over time.
I have heard lots of players have this issue and fix it using an VPN. Not that it is a good solution but it is a solution.
No… we have 0 language restrictions. I am not a fan of joining a guild that I constantly need to watch what I am saying in order to not step on anyone’s toes. I would say we discourage harassment and trolling but that would be the only “rules” we have.
I am all for discussing this I hadn’t seen Aye’s post in the recruitment thread because I hadn’t paid attention to it much the past few days. We are definitely relaxed in the guild rules department I am possibly the most vulgar person in the guild and I like it to be a place where you don’t need to watch what you say or do, worried about hurting someones feelings but I discourage harassing people.
With that said I don’t know exactly what you are purposing? I really don’t have a huge interest in activities outside of the heart of the mists and I don’t see myself disbanding STB to merge with a PvX guild. The purpose of the guild I created was to have a home for sPvPers to find teammates and talk strats/builds/etc. Over time I plan on evolving with the GW2 e-sport scene into a full blown sPvP community with videos/guides/tournaments and possibly a league. I have piqued the interest of some other larger e-sports organizations to work with on the matter but we are all basically waiting for ANet to implement the needed features.
Just to give you a little more info on our guild, it is growing daily in the number of players on the roster as well as the number of players representing the guild. I have been running free tourney groups almost daily for the past two weeks and we are starting to get multiple groups running at a time. We really just started recruiting hard two weeks ago and have grown from 3 people to 49 I believe last night probably over 50 by the time I get home tonight.
Rez signet nerf
Healing nerf IF they nerf damage from mesmers-thiefs (nerf both at same time or leave both)Which signet is that because I keep hearing about it being able to rez
if you mean this http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Signet_of_Restoration then I kind of lol since I have dueled other ele using other heals and its all the same really.
I think he is talking about the necro rez signet

Either Custom games or the Ranking system. If none of these will be released, me and my guild members will be dissapointed.
Prepare to be disappointed they already said for sPvP this was going to just be a balance patch.
They did say it will be a big balance patch though (I think) so I am hoping for a lot more viable builds. I would love to see more diversity in bunker options and full support builds getting some love to open up more viable team compositions.
I would love to see shout healing warrior become a viable support.
I run an sPvP guild Spill The Blood, we are fairly new and open to all PvPers. I have been running free tourney groups almost every night around 8pm EST with different guild members and our roster is growing very rapidly so you never have to look outside the guild to get a tourney group together.
You can check us out on our website at www.spilltheblood.com or message me in game for an invite.
I would agree with what many people are saying and I am happy with the reward system how it is now. I play because it is fun and my reward is getting better I ignore the rank and glory almost completely. That said ANet did state they are going to be adding in a lot of other glory based things in the future some of which apply to other aspects of the game (WvW/PvE) but there is no sort of timeline given on this at all other than probably within a year. I would like to see the point system revised to promote players to play as a team and try to win rather than zerg around trying to rack up as much glory as possible but that is also on the way.

It is basically the same map, 3 control points where you have to stand in a circle. One map has trees, one has snow, one has water, and one is a village.
I used to think the same thing until I started playing tournaments more and realized how different the maps are. The secondary objects really change the play style of the maps that you just don’t realize playing outside of an organized group.
I would love to see more modes to play in too but conquest is really a lot better than most people give it credit because of hotjoins ruining all the strategy in it.
even only SPVP, not possible imo
