ah well I openend 12000+ wintersday gifts and didnt get the unbreakable bell or the endless tonic… but I had great fun overall with the event.. I love the event jumping puzzles (cant be bothered with the normal ones usually..) and also think the other " dungeon" thingies and mini-games were a blast…
now.. shall I open the last 2000 gifts I have or try to earn a bit of my spent gold back? grins
I took a gamble and bought 450 presents inc the 150 i had.
596 mouse clicks later i got the unbreakable bell. Now i’m not to sure to sell it now,or wait untill the event is over as it might go higher in price.
I would have kept it,but i’m skint and need to cash to armour up my chars.
oh my god…
… I think I’m at around 10500 presents now and no unbreakable yet
I shouldnt… I wont try anymore… but I will.. probably.. please Grenth let it be 5th of januari soon…
hate to admit… but Asura have Tixx… no need to discuss this any further I think…
(unless Grenth and the Mad King team up to dismantle that little idiot…)
^^ looks like Second Life to me
there’s only one path I kinda hate
where I need to jump down from the the candy canes instead of up…
this is useful to know indeed
… I mean what’s the difference? I wanted the bell. I cashed in for 250 small presents at a time until I got it. This took me about 2400 small presents plus various other presents from doing other wintersday stuff. When I had extra money I bought small presents because they were cheap and I wanted the bell.
…you do realise I hate you now instead of ANet for only needing to click through ~2400 presents right?
I’ll admit to letting out a minor “F yeah” when it dropped. I honestly only half expected to get it and had a snowflake racket contingency plan all cooked up in my head.
(( ignores Toast for a bit ))
Ah well.. I spend enough on gems > gold > TP gifts for now… if I’ll get it before the end of the event it will be from a random gift I guess… (if I can resist that long that is..)
yes… the game is incredible fun
halloween was awesome – wintersday is even better on some parts… thanx ANet! looking forward to whatever you have planned for us next month

As it stands as soon as this event finishes my collection will forever be incomplete, small potatoes to most but to some this really matters. Please have a think about this AN, I don’t think we’re being unreasonable in wanting to keep our in game collections complete.
There’s always next year…
(unless Grenth decides to kill Tixx during Winterdays end event before he leaves Lions Arch ofcourse…)We can’t be sure if these mini-pets will even be available next year, if you look at the first Guild Wars the mini-pets changed year-to-year.
fair enough.. that’s true… then again – they also “only” made 1 or 2 event related mini’s per year in GW1 and they werent account bound
Only being able to make 2 out of 5 could be indication(?) of the same returning next year…
don’t you just love it how nothing is for certain in this crazy world we live in

…Your idea doesn’t sound bad, but I do agree, something like that would need to be account bound, or it could quite likely sink the economy into a really bad position.
and making it account-bound will sink the economy (for this item non account based item) just as bad
To change this after all this time now will just anger all the players that have spent a ton gold to get one. They already made that mistake with the mini pets, giving everyone enough cogs to make a third mini pet after some had already bought them all after being told specifically by Anet dev’s we would only get 2 in game with materials. Thats not user error or jumping the gun that is Anet’s fault.
Very bad idea.
So because of those very few (and it is a minuscule number), the rest of us should get shafted? A vanity item is slowly being turned into an item more exclusive then a legendary.
How are you getting shafted? Like you said it’s just a vanity / novelty item. You don’t need it to play the game. If you want one cough up the gold/gems or quit crying you don’t have one, simple.
Lol, I’m explaining why a mechanic needs work/adjusting, if you can even consider RNG a mechanic, and I’m crying. Sounds to me like you’re just being obstinate for the heck of it.
Farming for legendaries already didn’t make sense, as theres very little thats legendary about doing the same things over and over for months on end. Now we have to farm for novelty items too, where is the logic there?
Your missing the point, your crying over what you call a vanity item, something you don’t need, yet you cry about how you HAVE TO FARM for it….
You have no logic to your argument or anything to base it from.
These are the facts. Not everyone is going to get an unbreakable bell, not everyone even cares or wants one, you dont need to do anything, you choose to do something.
If you want it then gamble your money away on gems for gold and RNG away, or gems to gold and just buy it right out off the trading outpost, or play the game, spend nothing and hope to get it for free from a gift.
So your still crying even though all the options are available to you without having to pay any real life money and even an option to get it without anything to do with RNG.
But your still crying over it….like I said before you know how to get it, go do it or don’t THATS YOUR CHOICE if you want it or if you don’t AND ITS YOUR CHOICE, how you get it and what method you choose since they have given you many options.
There is no "I need to " " I have to" “I have no choice”
Stop crying about a bell….or go get yourself one….seriously.
Also there is a quaggan piano that does the same as the bell in a location in the game world.
Take your rage somewhere else please. You’re clearly missing my point, and I’ve no time to waste on you if all you can say is “stop crying”.
I think he’s actually making some very valid points and is not just saying “stop crying”. I read so many posts on this forum about it turning into a grinding fest and ANet not living up to their manifesto… because they are – nothing you actually need to play this game or need to give yourself a advantage game-mechanic wise is obtained by grinding…
The bell is fun, I’d love to have it… I realise it’s RNG and I grinded and bought my share of presents (~ 9000) without much luck sofar… I wouldn’t be able to play music if my life depended on it… and I hereby officially promise not to play it in public should I get it next few days…
but the way it works is fine.. and as a sidenote – Tron is not missing your point, you just don’t wanna hear any arguments against your idea…
My two best “wow” moments where when I was in the Snowball Mayhem fight and noticed that I was actually in the LA snowglobe. Second was when Tixx’s dungeon appeared and the music combined with the funny Tox ALSO combined with the fact that you can destroy the little houses like some movie monster made me smile alot tonight. This is a very very awesome event!!!
yes.. same for the jumping puzzle.. looking up and suddenly realising it’s actually inside the globe
Unfortunately I think you can only get 2 through playing the game, you dont gain enough materials per run to make a mini each day, so you need to pick which ones to make.
the amount of cogs are gonna be a problem if I understand correctly?
I did love the skill capping..especially gathering Elites. It made you explore the world a lot more. Ironically such a system would have been great for GW2 because it would force people into different zones and the population to be more spread out, thus negating to an extent complaints of barren areas.
yeah.. I’d like it alot if this (or something like this) was somehow re-introduced with some of the next expands
It is worth sticking with.
Most of the negativity is overreacting and most of it comes from the same group of people.
Also keep in mind that happy customers tend to play the game and such instead of shouting about things on the forums. You know Every game that has failed people have said this. …
and ofcourse the games that are a succes have the happy players complain on the forums?
So this survey wont include everyone then ???
Then how can it be a guiding or useful survey ???
one (including everyone) has no relation with the other (being guiding or useful)…
@Kaleidocope: Nah, sry it was directed towards Thorgal. I said the same about this majority/minority thing before in this thread. Thats not even the problem that I am having. What I don’t like about this blog-statement is that it’s pretending like the whole issue isn’t there. Even half a sentence on that issue would have been enough for me but it’s nothing…
There are other channels (twitter, facebook, gamesites, personal blogs, support tickets), there are no miraculous channels… my point was most people don’t bother to be heard at all but that ANet should consider the ones that do valuable customers to communicate with (wich is not the same as doing whatever this very vocal majority/minority demands)
their press release does seem to ignore the problem but I can’t imagine them mentioning in every press release “we’ve got this great new thing – some people liked it.. some didnt…”
an official forum simply is just one of the channels where people can let their opinion on things know and be heard… there are other channels and even then I think the majority of the players wont even bother…
most of the people who like the changes will be playing the game…
most of the people who by now hate the game will just leave…
and yes.. a relative small group of people would take the time and effort to post their opinion on these official forums… these in general are people who care about the game in one way (grinding, pvp-ing, im-client, hardcore, casual) or another so ANet should pay attention and try to communicate with them…
that said… they shouldnt be able to decide on what happens in the game since they are a relative small group…
we have ANet for evaluating, deciding en changing stuff… personally I think they are doing a great job.. I enjoy the game a lot and dont care about all these armor, precursor, 200+ gold discussions… so far I’having fun.. that’s what I am here for..
yes… I think ANet could benefit from a little more forum presence… on the other hand, let’s face it.. whatever they will say here – they will never please/satisfy everybody
Last night I did the Arah event and got 2 masterwork and 1 rare item from the chest. What a waste of time.
You didnt have fun?
(I loved how in GW1 you had to team up to advance though next mission.. and I am really missing that aspect now)
You didn’t, though. It was always possible to complete GW1 solo. You can’t (realistically) even duo the last stage of GW2. I’m really annoyed about that.
well I couldnt grins … certainly not before the heroes were there…
and I am not at the very last stage if GW2 yet… so will see – but so far I am disappointed at being able to do it all “alone” but I guess such is the nature of a personal story
wait… one step back..
“why can I solo all my personal story?”
(I loved how in GW1 you had to team up to advance though next mission.. and I am really missing that aspect now)
“So needless to say I’m wondering, will this one time event that changes Tyria forever actually make it impossible to complete content that’s currently in the game? Will it only add content, or will some of the DEs, etc. currently available become obsolete?
Maybe this seems like a weird question, but I just don’t want to miss out on anything!"
oh yes I do hope I can “finish” the current story first (on my first 4 toons) without major changes to that part of the world…
They will add a new island (although not a large one, medium sized) and a new dungeon. Anet already confirmed this in a recent interview.
where?
It was difficult so I decided there was no way Halloween was ending without me finishing it.
That’s all ^^
Pretty much this. I had failed a few times, and once that happened… And I heard other players completing it, I was pretty much determined to be among those people as well.
QFT… and I suck at jumping puzzles and even hate some of the vista’s for resembling a jumping puzzle to much
Vote Josh Foreman Nov 6th.
I heard you also made the clock tower, and if so, you are my favorite known GW2 designer.
Keep up the good work, cannot wait to see what else you have in store- I take it you have a hand in the big destruction you hinted at in the above post?
Wait? Somebody actually admitted on working on the clowtower? … wow… now that’s courage right there…
(and I agree… amazing work!)
… I think people should try to lighten up and have a laugh while playing a game.
QFT… on every aspect ( even the ones I hate like underwater stuff
) of this awesome game and even more awesome developers!
(and btw… if any of you briliant developers ever think of a towerclock like thingy underwater I’m just gonna go and play WoW)
took me 3 nights in a row but now finally made it…
(and once you did.. it gets easier!)
like said before.. even when I couldnt make it I loved this.. it is awesome!
… it comes to luck because there is 1 block that drops into the acid a second after the first person jumped on it so you have to be pretty much in sync with the lead and that rarely happens..
simply.. not… true…
simply freakin awesome… I love it! and I still havent made it to the end… I once came to the point where you suddenly need to go left instead of right…
anyways… will try again tonite when I get home
don’t listen to the complaint.. I consider myself an avarage gamer who spends way to much time gaming… I expect there to be things that I just cant make (but I sure hope this isnt one of them
— SPOILERS —
In a later part his spirit reveals that he did it because he was in love with her and couldn’t let the woman he loves die.
So we have the entire planet being eaten by a elder dragon versus the death of his love. Not an easy choice, but I think the fate of the entire planet is clearly the bigger ‘good’ in this case.
Of course, this entire story REALLY went wrong when Gwen married Keiran, who other than having some over powered bow was a complete tool and couldn’t even make his own freaking picnic.
If Gwen had just married your character, Tyria would be a dragon free paradise now… which would admittedly make for a very boring game.
Keiran needed your help because he was tied up with patrols. Also how would Tyria be a dragon free paradise? What if the GW1 character was female? What was wrong with Keiran anyway? I liked him. God knows he had the patience of a rock when it came to dealing with Gwen.
so what if the GW1 character was female? Could still marry Gwen (and would admittedly make the game a lot less boring…)
Keiran was annoying… even worse then that plant character that wants me to join that librarian cult in GW2…
try it and find out
Just for the record… finding something, then selling it for whatever low price and/or trading fee still means I am making money – it’s not actually losing money…
I would make less then I could have – but that’s not the same thing..
The longer we keep breaking the market, the longer it will take before things will be ridiciously expensive again right?
