I don’t know how the back end would work, but since some changes require rezoning maybe some areas could be given special overrides as you said. Southsun would also benefit from this. For some reason it runs worse for me than the Maguuma areas.
Would it be possible?
For example: GW2 runs ok-good most of the time for me at an average of 30-45fps depending on the situation. However, I can’t seem to hit 20fps in HoT. I don’t mind having to dial back the graphics a bit but I think it’d be a bother having to do so for the rest of the game where it runs great.
Basically, that’s how lazy me came up with the idea. Would this be feasible?
Excuse my utter ignorance, but what does CDI stand for?
Collaborative development I- I don’t remember but think its initiative
Oh, I see. Thanks a bunch, cheers!
Excuse my utter ignorance, but what does CDI stand for?
Just to throw my opinion just so it’s out there. Not like it’ll get any attention, but whatever.
I think what really hurt the playerbase (me included) is not communication or unintentionally empty promisses. What really hurt us is a game that’s devoid of endgame content and things to do after 2 years. I couldn’t have been more excited on August 28, 2012 when the game launched. Little did I know that I would just log in once or twice a month a few years later
I don’t see what the problem is with making an expansion per se. Guild Wars did it marvelously. 2 years after launch we had Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall and Eye of The North. THOSE were exciting times. New stories, new lore, new settings and new stuff! It just felt so, so very fresh to arrive to Canthan shores for the very first time. 2009 brought us little side quests to mine some lore for GW2, which was fine since we were aware GW wasn’t going to receive meaningful content since the 2nd was in development. Back then we understood since we already had got so much out of the game that the extra story and missions were just icing on the cake.
Then, we have Guild Wars 2, a brilliant game, with brilliant execution that lacks content 2 years after it was launched. The Living Story should have been something kept for starved players in the last few years of the game. The team should have focused on delivering chunky piles of content at once in expansions or new campaigns. I’m fine with updates, content patches and some new areas every 3 montsh too but…keeping the players like bunnies chasing a carrot can only take you so far. And so far we’ve come.
For me, the only route GW2 can take to get me back to playing it nonstop like I did is to go the expansion route so I can play to my hearts content. I’m pretty let down by playing 3 new missions after months and months of waiting. It’s like watching the Lord of the Rings, 5 minutes at a time with 2 month breaks in between sessions. It’s just not enough.
After a long 2 month hiatus caused by GW2 burnout and its living story, I’ll just give my 2 cents as to what burned me about it:
· Living Story doesn’t feel alive at all. I know the devs intentions are good, but what’s the point of changing something in a map when it will be gone in 2 weeks?
· Irelevant stories that have very little weight or importance in a world under dragon siege. I can’t for the life of me understand how it’s been 1 year since GW2 came out and we still don’t know squat about any other dragon beside Zhaitan.
· Too many celebrations. Seriously, drop some serious content every once in a while. Everything feels like a gag or a sitcom. I know it’s fun to find a reference here and there, but please, just do some serious content every now and then.
· Cheap-ish content. What’s fun in slaying 100 [insert name here] or collect 100 [insert item here]? Where’s our grindless GW2 promissed in the manifesto?
· Having to keep up with 2 week content. This might be my biggest buzz killer. I love getting achievements, but I also love enjoying the game at my own pace. Having to play at Arenanet’s pace of delivering irrelevant 2 week content so it just vanishes into thin air really puts me off.
Please Arenanet, could we get an expansion? Please? :‘[ Loved Cantha and Elona so much due to the change of world, setting, plot and all that it’d just be amazing…just change your Living Story for a proper, big expansion.
Finally, finally, finally!!! After starting my quest in early January, I managed to forge my Juggernaut! Can’t put to words how amazing it looks. Deffinitely worth all the hustle. Here it is :]

Hi all. Anyone have any clue why I’m getting this crash on startup? My client worked fine just last night but today it stopped working for some reason. I find it weird since I haven’t installed a thing or moved any file. Can someone please help? How do I file a ticket? Here are the details:

Will the achievements for both minigames featured in the living story still be achievable when they start rotating daily at LA?
+1 to all. Great ideas, especially the shared dyes.
I’d just like to propose 2 changes to the visibility of armor pieces.
· Allow all pieces of equipment to be shown or not. Much like helms, shoulder pads and back pieces, allow us to hide any piece of equipment we want. This will give us many more customization options. For example, a tattooed norn Warrior that wants to hide helm, shoulder pads, gloves and armor without losing its protection.
· Add the “Hide in cities” and other display options for all equipment. Much like the original Guild Wars, allow us to hide and unhide automatically our equipment by selecting the option from a drop down menu at the Hero screen. For example a Ranger that wants to hide its mask in town and wear it in the open.
· Add an option to display town armor automatically in towns. Pretty related to the suggestion above, but I think it would also be great for the game to give you the choice to wear town clothes automatically upon entering one because, you know, it’s town.
What do you think?
Amazing! I know I’ve critiziced the game (in a constructive way) in the past, but I knew things were only going to get better. Thank you for paying attention to this Arenanet. Much appreciated after the surge of WvW tokens in achievement chests.
Thanks a bunch! Fist Living Story I can’t wait to play after Flame & Frost.
I’d like to ask this question and see if I can get perhaps a dev response to my case:
I’ve bought a Logitech G600 for GW2 since I think it’ll be useful when using the 12 keys as my 6-0 keys and to access the inventory, hero panel and all on the fly. However, I’m aware that Arenanet’s policies towards macros and such are very restrictive. The only macro I would ever, ever use would be for example Ctrl+Shift+H to hide the UI and take a screenshot.
Question is, am I safe using the G600 with GW2 as long as I dont use any sketchy macro?
Agree. When characters are just one sided, things just get boring. Imagine having 10 lol
Just noticed after this patch…is it a bug? Whenever my groupies are further away, I can’t even see them in the map and their group picture goes black. I can’t even port next to them since I don’t see where they are unless they come into eyesight. What’s up?
Powerful Blood will plummet because of the influx of people into the area, and so will Scales as well. I’d say it’s a great time to sell at 30S and buy them all back when they’re around 20S during the event. That’s my take.
Hi all:
I have a little proposal. I’d like to get my Guild Weapon as soon as possible. I have my own guild and we’ve done several guild missions already, but we’re hitting a period of personal life and inactivity until summer. I’d like to join a guild temporarily just for Guild Bounties and/or any other guild missions to get my weapons. I’d pay the guild back 30 silver for each mission. Of course, I’d represent while the mission too.
Please Arenanet, I’m 1UP over this! GW had Polymock as a mini game, why not keep this one here too? Maybe in the future move it to another town to make space for Polymock in GW2 as well in Rata Sum, but I want this to stay.
I was mad at you for the Lost Shores event because of how it turned out. I was bummed by the first F&F update, and crushed when I saw Guild Missions requirements, but THIS has made up for all of that. Thank you for the love letter to old school gaming ArenaNet. I tip my hat to yoyu.
Hi all. I don’t mean no disrespect towards any developer whatsoever. This is just a little letter I wrote Arenanet regarding the Living Story.
“Dear Arenanet:
As a long time player of the first game, I hold a great deal of respect and I am truly marveled every single time you launch an update with new content (quirks and bugs aside) since it really shows your passion for the world and your player base. However, I’d like to make my voice heard through the forums regarding the living story and how I don’t think they’re just what Guild Wars 2 needs.
I believe living stories are great ideas that work perfectly in the ever evolving game world. It adds to the feeling that the world is slowly adapting to the storyline and the setting changes with every update. It also provides players with tiny little things to discover in every update. However, this brings me to my biggest gripe about living stories. They do not provide any worhtwhile content for us players (from my point of view).
Thanks to them, I’m sort of getting bored of the game. I remember joining GW when Factions came out, and there were TONS of things to do. It wasn’t long until you guys announced Nightfall and I got even more excited. While it is true that the game evolved little to nothing, there was that expectation of waiting for a whole new world to open before our eyes to explore and enjoy. With the living story however, we’re basically going to the same places to kill different mobs with a different story. Have you ever eaten a 2 day old doughnut? That’s the sour taste that living stories are leaving in my mouth. I dont’ care for monthly add-ons. I want fresh, new content in a single batch. In short, I want expansions and new campaigns.
Living stories in the end, keep reminging me that Tyria is not a breathing, living world, but a game with monthly updates. A game. No longer do I feel the expectation of picturing a big, massive new continent in Tyria since I know no expansions are planned any time soon. I want to explore new settings, new stories, forget about Tamini, Inquest and Rebels. I want to know about Palawa Joko, I want to learn about Cantha, visit another continent, deal with new dragon minions in another setting. In short, I want to leave the continent of Tyria to explore the vast, and rich (lore-wise) world that Guild Wars can offer.
Thank you

A guildie got The Colossus from a chest at Caudecus Mannor in story mode…so yeah, I’d say every chest is likely to drop a precursor.
Version 1.1.2 is out.
I completed the Spanish localization thanks to Thorzilla.9124
No problem man. Already telling the whole guild about the app. :]

Kaineng is open in US, don’t know how much longer!:
There’s two new ones in the Cursed Shores (or 1 there and another in the area before).
Arenanet forgets there are small groups of people WHO ONLY enjoy playing with each other. This whole game should show you that all Anet likes is large groups/Zergs/Mindless gameplay/ and always stepping on the tight knit little guilds by giving them no reason to play the game at all.
Edited with a little suggestion, but yeah man. My philosophy’s always been to have a small group of always active online friends to do stuff together, but I guess those days are over. Guess we have to kitten ourselves and open the guild to any random dude we can find so we can achieve hundreds of thousands of influence.
A little +1 for this. Weapons like incinerator suffer because of this. That or allow us to resize window size like in GW1.
I really don’t know where to put this but…why so much influence Arenanet? Why can’t us small guilds participate in the new content? Why are we being forced to be in 100-500+ member guilds? Why can’t groups of +20 friends in a guild do this content? I really don’t even know where to put this but I’d like to hear small guilds talking about this?
My guild was stoked with this content, only to find that to be able to do it, we either pay for gems, convert to gold and buy influence, or start becoming a super massive guild with lots of people you don’t know…That or we spend months gathering influence nonstop to be able to upgrade from our t2-3 benefits to t6.
Wow…
Edit with suggestion
Create guild missions on lower tiers, purchasable with less influence and, thus, rewarding less. This would still allow us to enjoy the content.

why dont you just invest in a mumble channel. Yet again why state the devs have to put it in and just find your own way around it.
Because it’s not integrated and it isn’t efficient to do so. By your logic, why don’t we create a forum, a website or a social network ourselves? I’m asking for a specific feature that should’ve been delivered seeing that it was already in the first game to begin with.
+1 to capes man. Made the entire GW guild system that much more awesome to be able to show it off.
why do you need the devs to make a function and not just talk with other guilds about having an alliance.
You make alliances with guilds, but we need an ingame channel to communicate with them. I see too many that are redundant in my opinion. No one uses /squad that I’ve seen for example. If there’s so many channels, why not just make one for alliances? If it bothers you so much, you could turn it on and off, also customizing which guilds channels you want to be in.
We don’t need an alliance system.
Alliances are restricted to the discretions of the guild leaders with minimum benefits. What we need is cross-guild chat.
Let our chat channels display chat channels from any given guild we belong to, irrelevant of whether or not we are representing that that.
Then you could set up your own “Guild Alliance Channel” for those guilds allied together. And while you’re doing that, your members can have other channels dedicated to other guilds they are a part of for reasons like family, friends, RP, etc..
This would be a great idea as well. Still, we do agree that some sort of communication or system is necessary between guilds, right?
I’ll start by saying I support this, but seriously, “Why have you not implimented this yet?” Like it’s a very common thing in MMOs? Really?
I hear you man, but it makes you wonder because it was one of the great things in Guild Wars 2. I know it’s not the same game, but GW2 could have used more polish when it comes to Guild systems, you know? It almost feels like Guilds, alliances and such were an after thought for Arenanet during the development process.
I’ve been reading a lot about these Guild Missions and I can say that I’m pretty stoked, much like my small guild. We’ve been waiting for another reason to band together to do stuff that challenges us in ways we cannot imagine and this seems to be the one update to do so.
HOWEVER, we NEED an alliance system guys. How can you not have implemented this already? 30,000 influence?! Seriously? We’re a 25 people guild (growing) and you speak about being able to group with other guilds to accomplish these missions? Why not give us the alliance system?
Please Arenanet, for the sake of all guilds, give us an alliance system with alliance chat. Please!
I’m posting a brand new suggestion in another thread, regarding alliances. The new guild missions definitely need an Alliance system. Please support our plea!
I have to agree, that is something that I was looking forward too. Also to the multi-guild thing, I don’t really understand it, but it works for me. Say your in a guild that doesn’t WvW or PvP that much well then you need to find a guild that does, but you don’t want to leave the guild that you in because you have a lot of friends in said guild, so you go out and find another guild that does WvW or PvP and you let them know that you will be with them during said events and with the other guild at other times. I think that is what the Devs where trying to do, but I have been wrong before.
I understand the usefulness for some, but that’s where Alliances came in GW1. For example, if my guild was doing dungeons back in the original and someone wanted to to a co-op mission, they could ask the alliance chat, yet still be part of our guild and feel like a part of something bigger you know? It was all about belonging before.
I hear you man, but I’d love for them to go even further! I’d love every single meta event to be tracked by your achievements and how many events in it you’ve been a part of it. Say, you’ve only beaten Claw of Jormag, yet you haven’t completed the entire chain. It could display that info for you so you could get the whole story behind it.
Hi all!
I just noticed how much fun events actually are when I know the plot and the story behind everything involved in a small/large event. I’d like to be able to experience every single one of them but, unluckily, there’s no real way to know which you’ve done and which you haven’t. Here’s my idea:
Add more achievements regarding events. They don’t even have to give achievement points (or many). They could just give 1 point after completion, but it would actually give us PvE lovers a clue as to which events we’re missing to do. I know there’s already an achievement for doing copious ammounts of events, but I wish it wasn’t as general as it is. I wish we could expand on this.
Anyone with me?
A guildie just bought one from the laurel merchant and he can’t open it. The message “content unavailable at this moment”. Are you aware of this?
Could we give this post an up? What are your suggestions? Let’s keep threads like these up so Anet can see!
I think i didn’t explain myself properly. I meant to leave all that to Anet, but leave to us to help chose what new suggestion to bring to the game.
I’ve seen tons of similar suggestions, and I supported every one of them, as i’ll do now.
I like how you’ve tried to make a nice, smooth summaryI can’t say it enough: YES, please remove multi-guilds OR allow us to see when someone last represented: we should be able to kick the inactives right?
The thing is, if they end up getting kicked anyways…, why allow multiple guilds in first place?!Alliances: YES: we had them in gw1 and they were quite valuable. We want them back.
Tiers of guild armor sound nice. At the moment I’m quite dissapointed with guild armour, it looks like the cheapest pve armour there is.
More guild weapons: sure, but this isn’t really urgent.
I’d like to add Guild vs. Guild too.
@Awlbistle: seems like you’ve missed some news: they’ve announced an update considering the Guild hall and player houses: hooray!
Did they mention guild hall and player housing recently? Don’t recall seeing anything in their Facebook.
How about adding a Greenlight-ish feature to the forums? Why not allow us to chose which updates and improvements we rather have? Sure, things such as content update would be left to devs, but what about fixes and new functions? I’d love to be able to give my vote to some great ideas around this place. Maybe we could get 1 or 2 votes a month to support diferent range of ideas for Anet to consider.
What do you think?
I’d fully back this idea.
We gotta keep pushing then! We need these tools, and it’s up to ANet to give them to us. See, I’m sure many more people wouldn’t mind putting up with the same content a few more months if they spent that time improving on guilds. I’ve heard of many friends leaving the game because they felt that the current guild system is just a glorified members list.
