Guild Wars 2

Hi all.

Just started up GW2 client to download the new patch and after the first white panel bit, where it shows the pre-DL info, disappeared as normal,the launcher didn’t come back for the main download.

A few minutes later I get a message from Trend Micro that it has deleted GW2.exe and guild wars 2 game client.lnk.

I’m guessing this is a false positive (wouldn’t be the first time) but just thought I would ask in case anyone knows about some accidental/disgruntled employee/hack-attack/government(!!!) shenanigans before I add anything to the exception list.

It’s smart server management even if it annoys the crap out of me. I’ve been gathering four characters for year now. Karka Queen and farm nerfs killed Southsun. Now I skip it on my daily runs due to it not being worth the effort to re-find the nodes every time.

…Interesting. The maps only existing when needed is not something I had thought of – makes sense though. Thanks for the info.

The amount of times we have had an update while I’m doing my T6-dash has been driving me up the wall lately but it might be helpful to know that gw2nodes resets automatically after the patch (or so it seems to me), so if you refresh the page just before you visit a zone it is pretty likely that it’s accurate.

For ages I couldn’t be bothered with southsun either but since after the ascended related price increases I tried it again and I am finding it to be the most efficient and fun part of the run. I port into the southwest and the wide area just outside going up to the pools, usually has 4-7 nodes in easy reach. If you get your sprint on, load up whatever tools your class has to deal with karka tomfoolery and are a little bit lucky you can get around a gold in about 5 minutes sometimes.

I got altaholism pretty bad, 2 more slots in the recent sale haha, so it would be awesome to have some buddies on the friendlist for leveling and (also; high level) map completion (40 ancient wood logs pls, pls, pls!). If we get enough people fo fill a party maybe even dungeon leveling?

Not to hijack your thread, but I’m looking for a similar thing on *EU servers*. Got 2 lvl80s, still need some maps on my main toon, but I would also like some company for leveling my warrior and thief. Got a lowbie guildie who would also be interested.

Empowered(staff4) is a great help to the team DPS, and level make no difference to it. Hold the line, purging flame and bow of truth can help the team mitigate damage and conditions but not sure when you can unlock them. +1 to the sceptre suggestion, tho I usually prefer to pair it with focus , unless the the shield’s knockback will be useful. Normally I would say spam virtue of justice in a group fight but not much point in this one.

Sound’s fun. I am in. Is it worth bringing a charr? I read their Artillery racial skill is useful for this fight but I have never tried it.

Doubt it would work with armour, but when I played around transmuting cultural weapons a while back it removed the racial constraint too.

Sword is a weird one. I love the savage leap playstyle but I have been lured away by the damage of the axe and the gs. I do keep meaning to go back and experiment but I probably wont till I get another set of rampager gear. Any way...

It’s pretty old so I suggest going to heart of the mists for some testing to see how the patches have treated it. While I’m not so sold on shout heals these days, I am a big fan of soldier runes for solo warrioring, cos if you are evading the big hits then conditions are all you have to worry about.

I’ll give it a try later when I can get on.

As the title says, “Please delete mail to make space” is the last hint I need for that achievement, but it doesn’t seem to wanna pop up. This is on a new alt I made last week and and the other ‘new character’ hints have been happening just fine. I swapped a few mails with a guildy to bring the mailbag status up to 10/10, and with the new wallet message it’s currently at 11/10. Got 12 unopened ‘green star money letters’ in there too. I have also rezoned, re-logged, deleted a mail and received another; it’s been a few days now and I don’t know what else to try. Anyone got any ideas?

If the make a big red nose item, maybe my charr would look a bit like Rudolf....?

I got the largos reward even though he was bugged. I really don’t know how exactly, I found the karka shell in my inventory when I went to merch the drops I had from the lake. He was stuck in his "let go kill some krait" mode. I talked to him but nothing changed, I then interacted with his chest and got some dialogue about finding the owner. I talked to him again and got the same speech from earlier. I thought I’d go and see how Noll was doing instead of just waiting around but go and empty my bags at the vendor first and thats when I found it. I hadn’t even noticed acquiring it! Took it to the lionguard and got my 5 commendations (but no karma). Don’t know if that helps anyone but hope so.

I found him on Desolation server about an hour ago. Standing right in front of the dungeon Asura gate. It takes ages for him to appear tho, with all the players standing around the clipping is terrible. Was my forth time checking there till I actually saw him.

You need the item from the largos’ chest in kessex hill as well.

I logged in last night (GMT) and while I was waiting for the update to download I had a check on the community sites and found out about the FOV beta. I dropped the extra path script in the ‘target’ box and when I finally got to log in it looked lovely and worked just fine…. for about ten minutes. Screen went black and only came back on when I ctrl+alt+del’ed , but went off again after a second when I started the task manager and the game window showed again. After restarting the pc the same thing happened again.

I came on the forum cos I thought that it was something to do with the FOVbeta, maybe overheating my GPU, but in 5 pages of feedback no-one else seemed to report a problem. I left the computer off for ages to cool down and next time the display lasts long enough to make me think it’s working and for me to get into combat then dies (sometimes with a matrix style splitt second green grid flash) on me, so I switched back to default FOV. Got the same results a few times and pretty concerned now.

Back on the forum I follow up some threads about ATI black screen posted by ANet support guys by downloading the ATI tool to detect best/newest GPU driver and install it. also the one about changing settings and installing the CAP1 update, so I’m now running on 12.10version published in the last month. Still the same.

Anyone have any more ideas to try? I can’t see anything else on this,Guru or ATI forums.

Is this happening to anyone else since the update? I can’t think of anything else that has changed on my system, and I haven’t had any graphics issues since launch.

I don’t want to add to the support guys workload, especially if there is a solution you lovely community members can share, but how long do I wait? Can’t really play till this is sorted and I have so much work to do in Tyria…

Nice work man. Would you mind sharing the build your using there? I usually bring the bow but have been considering a more GS/power build, cos my default sword/warhorn set up ain’t the best thing for burrows

It’s happened to me a few time in W3. In the middle of fights. the first time I thought it was some CC, the next time I realised I had no conditions on me. It was just like my move buttons had stopped working. In front of a lot of defenders on Stomemist’s battlements; Even though my skill buttons were fine, I didn’t last long…

When I am fighting, my norn dude regularly shouts “Feel Bears Power!” I have always thought this is cos of that choice. Is this the same for everyone?
