Should we have season 2?: Yes, but with some changes

Season 1 was great for YB, as it motivated people who wouldn’t otherwise have touched WvW to join and help out. We surprised everyone by beating SBI last week, which made an overall second place finish a likely possibility, and I know that if league play hadn’t been a factor, we’d probably have buckled underneath SBI’s population instead of persevering through their Monday morning push and eventually winning.

That said, I think the next league should be involve four leagues:
Platinum – BG, JQ, SoR
Gold: TC, SoS, Mag, FA, SBI, YB
Silver: DB, BP, EB, CD, and two of NSP, IoJ, HoD depending on their rating post-season 1
Bronze: Everyone not listed above

This would probably lead to a more balanced experience for all parties involved. Sure, Gold might have a hard time of it, but two servers could always team up to give TC a run for their money (like it or not, this is why there are three servers in every WvW matchup). Everyone else is relatively close in coverage, or close enough so as to prevent the kind of obscene blowouts that destroy morale and stop people from playing matchups.

Just my two cents.

Now that this change is going to go live eventually, ANet should introduce achievements for attaining specific world ranks. Even if it’s just a few points per title threshold, that would really help those of us who only WvW and have less than 5k AP as a result. Plus, it would further bring in line AP gain for WvW vs. sPvP.

Nah posting names incites a witch hunt. Better to send evidence to exploits@arena.net. They respond quickly to issues sent to that email. Using the report feature and/or stirring up the drama pot does nothing to help.

Its more for public shaming, but do what Faux suggested as well, if you see cheaters, don’t coddle them.. report them and send the evidence along.

Posting their names and IDs on the forums is a one-way ticket to an infraction. It’s probably best just to post them on your own private server forums, where you’re less likely to have action taken against you.

And don’t even start about the irony of the situation where a single account can supply troll all week long, but your post on the forums warning others about them gets modded and deleted within half an hour. It gives me no end of frustration.

There’s no alliance from what I know. They might have gone after you guys if you dared to mass attack them on their borderlands…we got hit hard by them at reset because we did that. Hell, last night the map was mostly red until we started pushing back out and went for full defense.

We know there’s a alliance…stop denying it. Bp has 0 night crew so we are a easy target but eBay has not been touched. That was reset night, it’s all game then.

I figured we maintained a decent presence on BPBL because the map layout favored our seizure of Hills. We were able to use Hills on SBIBL as a staging point for multiple sieges throughout the week, and I think those of us who don’t play in EBG or YBBL are still in Hills defense mode.

That rule appears to apply to structured PvP. If they’d meant WvW, they’d have said WvW.

Let’s assume that’s true, it only emphasizes my point. If SBI was unfocused, disorganized, demoralized, etc. the fact that it took all week to pull Ebay out of third place says a lot about YB/Ebay.

We(YB) only really trying to started to push ebay into 2nd last night, though in retrospect, we should’ve started Wednesday night.

Sometime Wednesday, it was obvious to us, that we were going to be 1st no matter what. At that point, we could afford to shift resources into the secondary goal of ensuring you gained only 1 league point from this matchup, instead of 3.

SBI’s main error was not realizing on Wednesday, that they no longer had a chance at 1st, and needed to start fighting for 2nd. An example of your error, would be the huge SBI zerg I saw trying to hit Overlook, not 1 hours before EB ticked ahead of you. That was a complete waste of your limited time and manpower.

Actually our main error in the match was not running eb bls from day one, could have gotten a lot of points there keeping that paper.

Yes, I imagine a lot of us were surprised that you didn’t do just that. I certainly was.

In our match against IoJ, it felt like SBI never left their borderlands.

This may not be directly applicable to you, but there’s been a lot of trash talking going on, you know? It was painful enough to watch people proclaiming inevitable victory after we won reset night against FA, and we all know how that ended.

If SBI wants to complain about being ganged up on (instead of taking it as a compliment) that’s their problem.

As for double-teaming… it is a legitimate tactic and one that any server needs to have a response to if they are double teamed. Improvise, adapt and overcome… don’t whine about it. Course, when you team up with another server to attack a third, you run the risk of coming out in last place like Ehmry Bay is seeing right now. Didn’t quite work out for them like they were hoping, did it? May make them think better next time of allowing another server to get the upper hand in an alliance.

You don’t think EB can pull out ahead of SBI here? I think there’s still plenty of time for that, especially with SBI’s dwindling participation in WvW.

Hell, EB just took Lowlands. SBI is ticking pretty low right now.

This aside isn’t completely related to the topic at hand, but was I the only one who expected Zhaitan to zombify your order’s mentor for the player character to kill at some point? I thought it was even kinda hinted at when it was revealed that Zhaitan knew the whereabouts of your order’s HQ because he had turned “someone” who did. I mean, I know that there are plenty of other candidates out there in the wide, open world for him to get the information from, but having that presented to you so quickly after your mentor died at Claw Island just made it seem obvious. I was really disappointed when it didn’t happen.

I mean, I love Tybalt as much as the next guy, but imagine the drama and suspense of having to put him down, especially after the sacrifice he made.

To the rest of FA, thank you all for an incredibly fun and experience enriching weekends. Many of us admire your level of organizations and hope to achieve the same in near future. Fa is the classiest server I have ever fought with, a very pleasant experience. One thing though, please reduce the /sit emote usage in a massive fight, it really disrupts our map communication.

I don’t think Walnut bailed because he wanted our respect. He wanted revenge, and an army to get it for him.

And as for FA spamming /sit, they probably do it because they want to disrupt map chat, so I don’t imagine they’ll stop. Still, I agree that this has been a strong matchup so far, and even though we probably won’t win, it definitely beats the one-sided matches we’ll be seeing before long.

I don’t know why people describe SBI as a zerg server, a hive mind blob. It certainly does not look that way from the inside and it has not even back in the days we were T1 and facing juggernauts like HoD.

There were always constant complaints about guilds doing “their” thing and not coordinating enough of wiping to enemies because we’re woo spread, especially on the BLs. We always have several tags and groups going in different directions and (hopefully) coordinating on TS to save a keep here and there.

EB is a different beast – Bannok and the rest of the commanding crew there were always open to leading groups of independent (but so unreliable) PuGs. I cannot admire him enough for his patience.

Still – ask anyone on SBI if they really see a huge zerg/blob on the map – it’s usually several guild based groups, with randoms tagging along commanders they know, and every group is going his way doing his thing.

I’m not expecting you to believe me – but that’s how I saw it – and it’s a tradition. Ask the SBI alumni now on JQ or SoR. Whenever someone calls for “Bl efforts should group together !” the answer is …“relax, you’ll get used to it”.

The whole “hive mind” generalization might apply in EB, but from what I’ve seen in YBBL, they’ve been very coordinated (US EST prime time slot). Of course, I’m pretty sure we’ve just been getting hammered by large guild groups (as you’ve said), but SBI has been almost irritatingly on the ball in this match up, at least when I’ve been around. The score would seem to corroborate my opinion, though.

That said, someone in map chat yesterday said something along the lines of “I hope SBI draws Sanctum of Rall next week,” and I’m inclined to hope for the same thing, haha.

I wanted to end this thread on a positive note.

As a member of a guild on Kaing that spent most of it’s time in PvE, I ran with RE quite a bit over the last couple months. I love WvWvW, but unfortunately my guild mates don’t.

I leveled a character from 1 to 80 in WvWvW running with RE commanders 60% of the time. I learned quite a bit. The clever use of portals to flank chasing Zergs made was great stuff. The open field fighting they did this past week was great training. I learned to grab loot bags on the run also!

I do believe Kaing will be fine after today. They have some good commanders and Guilds that will step up.

I’d say I’ll miss you guys in RE, but in truth I won’t…….

I finally joined RE last night after thinking about it for the last month. I’ll be moving with you. :-)))

Nope (see attachment). If Kaineng stays in the game, it’ll be due to their morning NA coverage. It’s unfortunate, too, because this has been a very satisfying and close matchup.

Good luck to [RE] on Tarnished Coast, though. TC is definitely one of the friendlier servers this game has, and I don’t think you could have made a better choice in terms of community.

My thoughts so far on both servers:

Ebay: Respectable and they have alot of talented people on their server. Had my toughest fights against Ebay.

YB: They remind me of CD apart from the fact they do seem to be better at combat overall, however their attitude is the worst I have seen out of any server I have ever versed.

What, worst attitude? we are just excited about getting back into a comfortable bracket. and if you ever fought FA, you wont say we have worst attitude. FA players laugh after they gank you, they also sit or jump on you corpse.

Making generalizations like that is wrong on both ends of the spectrum.

Keep it civil. Wouldn’t want comments to snowball into a thread closure.

They don’t even have to dump the full 10 supply. They could stop after the first tick and get contribution, if they insist on leeching like that.
