I usually run with bear/bear ensemble in dungeons. I use the regeneration signet, the toughness signet (6 seconds of invulnerability are great against bosses) and 10 points in beastmastery for the increased heal skill. This gives my pets very good survivability against trashmobs and most bosses. The other bosses require more micromanagement, like swapping and recalling. To utility: I always use the murellow for its poison cloud (great aoe and useful against singletargets as well when you fire a barrage through it). The second bear depends on the encounter, either polar bear for increased damage (got more power than the other bears and the chill is neat for control) or the brown bear with condition removal against condition heavy encounters.
I totally agree with you as well. Although there is the Masters Bond trait in the Beastmastery trait line it leaves much to be desired. Btw a bear is one of the toughest mobs in game with toughness signet, regeneration signet and the trait Compassion Training in the Beastmastery line. Can do a same-level veteran or a 3 level lower champion troll on its own^^
I`m playing a ranger so that mission was pretty annoying for me, seeing as you could only fight with the sword and without my pet. First time i lost pretty bad (boss had 35%hp left).
Second time i reset the instance used the trashmobs before the boss to get a feeling for the skills. In the fight i constantly went into melee range, spammed my aoe heal as soon as it was up (allowed most of the npcs to stay alive). Additionally i used my two knockdown skills on the boss as soon as they were up and killed adds as soon as they spawned (you need to run around otherwise they kill you fast, the adds got knockdowns).
This strategy worked as i finished the encounter the second time. Hope it helps.

I`m afraid i don`t really get your problem. I´m playing a ranger so not the hardiest class. If i want to explore i just run trough the mobs, perhaps with a few dodges thrown in. On a higher level you can outrun almost any mob (besides rooting caveworms and being hit by cave trolls/ettins). Even if you are hit its not like you will die instantly. I mean there are some vistas/points of interest in the southeast of lornars pass where you have to pass through a bunch of ettins/ stone throwing jotuns. As long as you evade the knockdown you can do this while being 2 levels below the mobs . It`s even possible to do the heart quest in the area while running. I never had trouble exploring any area (as long as i didn`t run into an elite by chance). No one forces you to fight with every mob thats attacking you.
Nope an active pet doesn`t matter. To tame a pet you only need to press the F key. You should get a screen with pet stats and abilities on it. At the bottom is a question asking you if you want to equip the pet (yes/no). If you choose no the pet will be available in you pet screen, if you choose yes it will replace you current active pet. Either way the pet is tamed then.
lowest level you can get in is level 30 as far as i know, you can theoretically participate with level 28/29 though, at least in BWE3
a tamable white Moa is in the north of Lornar`s pass, sharks are somewhere in the human starting areas (haven`t found hem yet though).
Ranger offers you a really relaxed pve with decent damage, good range for wvw, you will however be a prime target in spvp.
warriors have some weaknesses in early pve game and you may need to play a bit more passive than you`d like at the beginning. They really rock in pvp with the right build, where they are overpowered right now.
yeah, that`s a bit buggy i guess. you need a third pet for switching as you can`t have the same pet in both slots since BWE3. Easy pets to charm are some polar bears in hoelbrak on the ice lake to the west or south of the raven lodge in hoelbrak is a tamable raven.
Yeah, well according to the devs exploration mode was designed to offer a diverse and challenging! alternative mode for instances. It would kind of defeat the point if you clear it straight on the first try. For me finishing such an event is enough of an reward and you do get tokens. There are a bunch of alternatives for getting good gear in the game, it was clear in the beginning that you won`t get the best drops from dungeons.
That`s rather normal as most people level a bit slower. I was level 35 and in Lornar`s pass on the second day of prestart. During 7 hours playing in that zone i only met one other player^^ Give it a bit of time or play at different times and there are usually a few more people around
Can only talk about AC as i ran them once in BWE2 and twice in BWE3. Only in story mode mind you. I`m playing a ranger and went with a pet/heal build. The build is allowing my pet to tank any mob in story mode for about 5-15 seconds (King adelbern only 5 seconds, rest far more). With swapping out my pet every 15 seconds or so they can tank nearly any enemy. Along with my heal build (area heal and elite skill) it allows a group to stay alive for 15 seconds or so each fight if no one else heals. As every class can heal it gets exceedingly easier when 3 or more people heal. Meaning if you have 2 guardians and an ele in your group, the hp of everyone rarely drop below 50% in the group. If you have 2 rangers a warrior mesmer and ele in your group it becomes more a matter of moving out of aoe abilities than straight out healing. Some setups are slightly easier to play (it helps if you have severals members in you group that can take a few hits) but it`s by no means impossible with other setups.
About no Group content beforehand: Try the ogre events in Diessa plateau with 5 players or engage a champion mob (there are a few scattered around in level 15+ zones) with only 2 or 3 players. It allows you to get a feeling how the classes play together, how to kite a mob that deals heavy damage. Just please don`t say the dungeons are too hard, instead develop better strategies.
Ranger Pets possess 4 skills. 3 of them are standard for their family (ursine, drake etc.) and are AI controlled. The fourth skill is special to each subspecies and may be activated by the player (F3). The number of pet skills the player can control does not increase with the level or any other way.
