Gotta throw in some love to this thread.

I Primary Ele, and ranger so I’ll stick to thoses.

I think the idea of a pet master Ranger is boss! It could be done without massive changes to the game it seems, and makes a lot of sense based on the class as a whole. No qualms there. Only other weapon I could see remotely working for the Ranger would be the hammer. I some way bringing back “the thumper” (GW1 Hammer build).

On to Ele.
My dream would be for ele to use pistol, or rifle. What I have in mind is a “Spell gunner. (Somthing like that)” If any of you have ever seen the anime Outlaw Star you’ll have an idea of what I’m thinking. Atunement animation could be the changing of shells/cells.

As attacks the rifle would be slower cast/charge times yet harder hitting long range elemental based shots. What made me really think about this more was the new looks of some of the legendaries and the physical changes it made to your characters body. I would expect something like that for the atunement.

I sadly don’t have the time to post up some skill/attack ideas, but what what I’ve thrown out there I’m sure one of you more creative guys could help work it out. Let me know what you think.

I have an awesome idea IMO. REMOVE CONJURE WEAPONS ALL TOGETHER!

How about a new 2 hand weapon (I’m thinking some pulsating aura is the look) called something simple like “weapon mode” or conjure “something or the other.” Where rather than wasting a skill slot, you have an equipment that you hold and the F1-F4 are the conjured weapons of that element? By that I mean by pressing the atument of your choosing (F1-F4) you are using that weapon in hand not creating it.

I hate building around a single skill that someone can walk by and PICK THE FRAK UP!!

Modify the skills some I’m sure. There would be a brand new build (The weapon ele) to play with.

Maybe? Could be interesting…

What ever the fix to our “elite” is. I just know I have a problem with them being useless unless the build revolves around it. I mean who many builds of necro (example) can they find a use for their elite?

I also hate the summons lasting for what seems like getting one hit off, and dying. Then waiting for what seems to be a week for it to come back. Also none of them outside of FGW seem useful in boss battles. Which still leaves me stuck from the uses of the rest of the elements.

Ever get owned while in tornado and while a warrior 100blades you while not being able to be knocked back by your “ELITE?” It’s funny I know!

How about save me the pain and let me put a normal skill in the elite slot. My build would be soooooo much better for it!

You guys really think it would be broken? I’m not talking about assigning the skills per skill I’m just saying setting 1 to 4 of the attunements to one of two (max) weapon sets.

Seeing ho we really don’t have the versatility of weapon swapping in combat, what would be your thoughts on assigning the 2 weapon slots to the attunement it self? Still only keeping it 2 weapon sets but switch with the attunement change (F1-F4).

Example; F1&F2 (D/D assigned) F3&F4 (Staff). Any combination really. 1/4 being a weapon set while the other 3/4 is another. I think that would open some interesting play. Channel a M. Shower F2 (Air) -> Ride the lightning+Updraft or F4 (Earth) ->Shockwave or Earthquake.

I love my ele but I hate having to be out of combat just to switch. I think this would be a good way of doing it without us having access to the full set of weapon skills of both (weapon sets) across all the attunements.

Those 2 things alone kept me playing GW1. I don’t see why they wouldn’t work here.

Anyone remember the days when after completing a personal story, and you had a buddy with you, if they had the same mission they could also accept completion of the mission.

So my question is why is that not a part of these story missions? I just did the first one and my friends and I had to do it twice because I didn’t get credit for THE SAME EXACT MISSION! What is the point of playing with friends again?

I think we are solving the problem right here!! lol Something like 1 is a base auto 2-4 pool and 5 is always something stronger with a larger cool down. ie 100 blades or meteor shower.

Does the “nightmare of balance” not then take away from the variety of builds. I guess what I’m more interested in is the role a class can play vs the skills they could utilize to get there.

I’m not sure if they would be “way too good” per-say. When I’m playing ele, there are very few builds I could do. I’m sure at time mes, and eng feel the same way. It just seems to me regardless of the build I create I’m locked into a very simple play style.

As my example before. Why can’t I choose to play a nuke (heavy dmg/long cool down) build? If I play an ele that option isn’t even there without me going S/D or D/D which is melee range. Which seems so ANTI-CLOTH to me. I guess my rant is more directed at the lack of build diversity. Thus the reason why I wanted to keep this alive and get peoples input.

If you can guys lets keep this alive. I don’t want this to die, because this is what I feel is one of the over all missing parts of this game.

I mean who would think that you could pick up a sword and only be able to use 5 skills on it. When I bought this game I had the expectation that cool skills would pop up over time, but I’m seriously disappointed. I think one of the things that they went wrong with the weapon skills is that they created CLASS ONLY skills for the same weapon. So that every class used the same weapon differently.

How about mixing some (cross class) or having a pool of general weapon skills. In GW1 if I had an mes pick up a sword they would then have to equip sword skills. Yet there were mes only skills like illusion weapon. Not to say I’m looking for those skills exactly, but get where I’m going?

Either way lets keep this alive. I’d like to see some ideas for what changes you’d guys like to see. I’d really need help from the other GW1 old guys out there!

I know its not GW1, but I have to say coming from that to this is a little sad in build creation. I can’t think of too many games that have as small amount of skills as this one.

Rather then just complaining I’ll add what I think would be good additions to the game.

First and the largest would be a solid pool of weapon only skills with the removal of #1 being our base attack. Honestly why would I want my most basic of auto attacks in a slot in my skill bar. For all weapons skills 1-5 should be select-able from a small pool of skills for that weapon only.

In the case of the ele the same but still select-able for each element. I mean when playing GW1 as an ele if I wanted to be dumb enough to play nuke heavy skills with large cool downs I could. I should be able to do the same now.

I guess I could give many examples but I think everyone gets the point. A bar of 5 skills I can’t control, and 5 I can is weak!

MAKE A POOL OF WEAPON SKILLS AT LEAST PLEASE!

What a perfect title! I’ve done it twice, and let me say it was the slowest and most boring of missions this game had to offer. After all that you go through to be left with something so anti-climatic was painful. Beyond that the completion reward was TRASH!! I play through the whole store mode and take out what seems to be the largest threat to the world and junk is what I get.

Beyond that I do like the changes you recommended though. Nice work.

People that are offended by words are the reason why stupid people attempt to offend. Creating separate classes of offense won’t change a thing. Of this I’m sure. Let the idiot fall on his own sword.

Well here is to the hope that we could one day we could craft ASCENDED JEWEL GEAR!!

ZOMG GET JEWELRY UP TO 500!!!!!

I’m at 435 in artificing and struggling to get over that because I have no reason to craft anything up to 450, because I’ll be crafting stuff that cost more to craft then the item I make can sell for……..like WHAT! And then past that YOU CAN’T SELL WHAT YOU MAKE AT ALL AT THAT TIER!

So I have a tone of these mats and can do NOTHING with them!

Lets bring this topic back people! I was reading again the list of changes they claimed would take place during the end of this year, and this is at the top of the page:

“Announced changes
These changes are intended to be released in the second half of 2013.
Professions and balance
There will be new unlockable skills and traits.”

That was directly taken from the official wiki. Was what we got in the 12/10/13 update really it? Just some healing skills, and re-positioning of current traits? I’m surprisingly bored with build creation in this game! Not gonna lie the new healing skill for the ele is nice, and I can stack might like a boss, but that now more then ever keeps me playing S/D or D/D.

There are 2 more weeks left in this year. I’d honestly like to see a noticeable amount of skills pop up, or that promise of additional skills and what not are going to seem very disingenuous to a lot of people. One healing skill per class is a little soft. We could also talk about the skill point cost of those new skills, but I digress.

In order to use them effectively you have to build your character around the stupid skill. Plus the melee ranged stuff is dangerous for us. Softy remember?

A spear. Less focused on support, more on ranged single target dps and defenses.

It is boring only having scepter, dagger and focus (to some extent) being viable in SPvP. One more weapon wouldn’t hurt.

Hammer is one of the best imo. Blind every 3rd hit is awesome. I have a build that is knight set armor. Stay in water with glif of restoration with hammer out and you get regin from water plus some HP gain with every hit!

But imo pistols should be on that list.

I’m sure there are many ideas people have. I came out of GW1 so to me most of the weapon choices and skills are a little lame imo. but I’ll start by saying……

Someone said hmmm in GW1 Ele/Sin was a solid class combo. Lets give eles daggers in GW2, but allllllllll the other weapons we will make a conjure weapon skill.

I can summon a Bow, but my class can’t use one
I can summon a Hammer, but my class can’t use one
I can summon a Firey Great sword, but my class can’t use one
I can summon a crappy Shield, but my class can’t use one (btw shield really sux imo)

We call that self defeating in the world of LOGIC LOL

So with that, PISTOLS!! WHY CAN’T I USE PISTOLS AS AN ELE!?!?!?

Next to daggers that would be a awesome yet OBVIOUS choice for a weapon a ele could use. All the nice cool elemental based shots pistols could do would be great. I mean come on! A theft, which is suppose to be a stealth character can use them but a ele can’t?

Any who that is my rant. How does everyone else like or dislike the idea of eles using pistols?

Can we have better elites pls Anet?

If the tornado was a summon it would be awesome! Moving with FGS could be nice also. But in my head a ele elite based on the class should be OP in a way. It’s a freakin elementalist! As it is we can’t switch weapons so 9 times out of 10 you are stuck with the same build until you have some down time to manually switch.

I guess because I came out of GW1 I expect elites to be game changers. IMO going mist form or changing to the tornado should at least remove ALL conditions. Bleeding as a giant tornado just looks stupid!

GW2 eles have completely left the NUKER role. Damage out put for us should be something to fear. Glass cannon as it were. We are soft for a reason. That is the balance (or at least I thought).

Skills I’d like would be something like a aoe gust(gw1) knock back. Our aoe crowd control sux imo. I don’t want to go too deep into skills, because it would last forever, but come on ANET do something plz!

I was looking through the wiki for some armors and skins when I cam across a forgotten set of “Named armor” They had you know Mhenlo, Zhed, Shiro, and the like. Well known npcs from GW1. I was like “man this is awesome” until I looked further to find that under the type or armor (light, mid, heavy) THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME.

I just wanted to ask the community if you guys think the “named armor sets” should at least resemble the character it is named after?

Could I get a Knight set to go with that order also lol

Agreed! Full control and fun combinations is what GW was all about imo. I feel way to limited in this versions. There really are no “builds” in this game

Dude I’m right there with you! I love GW1 for those reasons also. I enjoyed sitting around trying to figure out new and awesome combinations of skills (that later get nerfed lolz).

I’ve been playing GW from prophecy even then I thought the set of skills was far better and enjoyable to customize then they are now.

Maybe add new Attributes also?

At the very least I’d like to see a pool of select-able weapon skills. Maybe 2-5 because 1 is the basic attack. Or remove it (1) all together and go back to a non select base attack opening up a larger pool of weapon based skills to select from.

While I’m throwing out ideas Allowing eles to switch weapons at least in PVE would be nice. Far to often I find needing a set of skills from scepter, and dagger rather then walking into a battle with staff and being stuck with it. As a downfall to switching make what ever number skill go on cool down or the whole weapon skill bar for a sec as to reduce massive spike switch spike dmg.

In any event more skills PLEASE! Because I have no enjoyment setting skills in this game. From the time I’ve got this game I have reset my stats ONCE.
