Tbh i thik even thou zerker builds will do less damage, they will still be the most viable, as its no point having more than one conditioner in a single 5 man party, and in gw2, even given the 10% nerf ,damage will always be a better choice than passive survivability (PVE). So yeah IMO not much will change there will still be as many power builds as are there now. Tho i wonder how will this change affect a WvW power necro?

Maybe I misunderstood the live stream: but the swaping of % crit damage with a new stat that affects our crit dmg, does not in any way imply, that crit damage will be reduced in hybrid builds or in builds that do no stack crit damage in every gear piece possible. As far as I understand the idea behind the new stat is the diminishing returns in crit damage if you stack too much of it. and in total it will be some % lesss damage only compared to builds that stacked all the available +% crit.
Now, as far I know most popular necro builds, usualy do not go that far into stacking crit damage, or am I wrong?

Update regarding the auto update issue. After some reading and testing, it seems there is a problem if you have multiple browser tabs open to this site (or possibly to others that do the same api request). I noticed if i open 3 tabs to dragons.udba.org on some of the tabs the refresh will not work. I will implement a “lag timer” that will tell you the elapsed time since last update. That way you will at least know that something is not OK.

Maybe i do not really understand what you have in mind with global state, however you can put alarm on the preevent, and it will play the ding sound when that specific preevent becomes active (click on the small speaker right of the preevent name), and also the yellow bell will show up next to the main event. Example: fire elemental dies in matter of seconds, so its too late to go there if you wait only for the main event, so i have the sound alarm set on the 2nd preevent “Escort the C.L.E.A.N. 5000 golem while it absorbs clouds of chaos magic.” so i have enough time to get there.
As for the synced, i have refresh on 10secs which i think is fast enough. However as Lerre already reported sometime it stops refreshing for no apparent reason (did not yet happen to me, might be a browser problem). Thats why i plan to implement something that shows you the time passed since last refresh so you can see how “fresh” the data is.

Updated to v0.4
This week i had little less time, but the save/load change took considerate amount of work. Slowly I am getting to the finished version. I still need to do some graphical changes, rework the editor since is still unwieldy and finally implement the timer showing elapsed time since the last event status change. Also possibly a mini “how to use” manual
@SRG:
I was thinking about this, however i do not want too much information clutter, since than it will become messy, that is why i did the little yellow bells, that indicate where the last alarm came from. (ex.: when a preevent becomes active, and if you have that specific preevent alarm ON the sound will play and the yellow bell will show up on the main event indicating that the alarm came from there). Also if you are looking at a specific event chain, you can have it unfolded and see the status of all preevents. And with the editor you can completely change the event trees to your liking (but i know the editor is not really user friendly atm)

Hmm thanks for the info.
Could you please tell me if you were running the site for few days without refresh? A friend told me about the same issue, but he said he was running it for a whole day. So i suspect is a browser problem.
I will investigate further and try to make a workaround, or at least a notification telling you that the site was not updated for a long time. Until then refresh the site every few hours, or at least each day.

Timers are planned, and the “hardest” part already done, have to figure out how to display them.
As for the “checkboxes” i plan to redesign the save/load part so it will be possible to achieve what you are saying.
I think i will try to stay with the clean design, but I know i still need to fix some stuff so it will be better looking.
First of all editor needs some more love, since is still a bit unwieldy.

I know there are tons of guides around here and i read/watched most of them. But i still have a question regarding the gear. I have limited time playing guildwars so I am unwilling to get multiple sets of exotic/ascent gear for different builds on my necro. So my question is what equipment should i get for my necro to be allaround ok. Mostly for Dungeons/fractals and WvWvW (for openworld i already have my magic find doh). As for build I am looking in the direction of condimancer and hybrids.
Should i just get full rabid armor? which ascent trinkets should i be getting?
All is vain
Ok I think I fixed the knight’s trinkets. The problem is that the emerald jewel(knights stats) has different main attribute than everything else thats knight’s.
Knight’s: toughness = primary, power/perception=minor
Knight’s JEWEL: perception = primary, power/toughness=minor
I don’t really get it why they did it. I mean what the hell, EVERYTHING else follows the same pattern, every name has main/minor/crit that is the same for every piece of equipment... but noooo, knights jewel must be an exception -.-
Also pentbater, I am not really sure what the problem you are seeing is. But Knight’s gives tough/power/perception and as I described above, only the kitten jewel is different. Hope now you will see the correct values.
Edit: I started working on the calculation of "gains" to get the feeling how much of an impact a stat gieves:
-damage reduction from toughness (you will have to select, light/medium/heavy, and the def + basic tough will be treated as 0 reduction, so you will see how much reduction you get from extra stats)
-crit rate increase from perception
-damage increase from power(similar to armor)
-a calculation of overall damage increase from critrate/power/critdmg

Oh lol, that error your ISP is giving you is probably because i host it on some freehosting company and since is free there probably are some bad sites. Sad thing is that the said freehosting are not even forcing adds or anything, only my code is displayed, so paranoid isps are paranoid :S I suggest you that you email them to review their block about this IP.
Btw ill try to fix the knigth’s trinkets, since its bothering me that is incorrect :P

The MF you can reach:
All armor MF:
6*3% = 18%
2 weapons with Crest of the Traveler:
(3%+3%)*2 = 12%
Full stack of sigil of luck: (i have it on staff)
25*0.6%=15%
All trinkets with MF jewels:
5*(3%+3%) = 30%
(you get 5% more if you take exotic 80 trinkets, but imo a bit exepnsive...)
5x Pirate rune:
50%
1x traveler rune:
10%
Omnomberry Bar:
30%
Guild bonus:
10%
============
total:
175%
If you go extreme and take the MF booster and exotic 80 trinkets you get 230%
Tell me if i forgot anything.
ED: fixed pirate rune, thanks to aRTy

Anyways, random is random, I can’t even count how many times I’ve rolled four or five 1s in a row in other games. There’s a reason they call it a crap shoot. I don’t see the point in Magic Find, since a person completely decked out in MF gear can still have bad luck and not pull anything, while a person with no MF on can pull rares all day long.
I am not sure how to reply without sounding offensive, but c’mmon you can’t be that stupid….
Yeah sure you sometimes get a lucky streak, or a bad one… It does not matter, eventually the guy with higher MF will get more.
I also am not sure how MF works, but agree on few assumptions made on this thread, that is +% on whatever the chance to drop is. So even if it changes the chance from 0.01% to 0.02% is still DOUBLE the chance, or statistically you would need 1/2 the kills to get it.
Also I can fairly sure say that MF doesl matter, since I regularly play with a friend that does not have full MF gear, and usually I am getting way more blue/green/yellow drops than him. Recently he purchased some MF gear :P I usualy run with around 160% MF.

I created a simple PVE armor calc to experiment what stats I get with mixing gears. It is very basic yet it does the job.
You can find it at http://gw2.tsuki.si/
Few notes:
-All stats are for exotic only. Since too much effort for a gear that you use for a day or 2
-Shaman’s, Soldier’s, Rabid, Svanir, Traveler’s are not craftable, and you can only get them by dungeon rewards, mystic forge, drops?
-Trinkets are only with matching jewels.
-The values for Knight’s trinkets(amulet, ring, earing) are currently incorrect because they are not like every other Knight’s gear. I did not bother to fix it since I don’t use knight’s trinkets. If there is enough demand I might fix it

Oh and also just to mention, I did expetiment, in ways to farm gold without playing the market or anything. Just go do something for pure gold, no events or hearts (tho DEs are a nice addition) found out in some areas i can get about 1-2g from loot in about 30minutes or less. Ofcourse with full MF and and omnom barrs. But that is low ofcourse, runnning around Orr nets me way more.
And ofcourse helping out friends in low level areas that you already completed it is not gona net you big monies, but you will still be in profit, and the DEs still give you 275 karma wich is always welcome.
All is vain
Penny as for running around doing missions hearts ect… I am 98% world complete I have full exotic armor and weapons on my level 80 ranger.
What do you need the gold for than? You got your full exotic set, you almost finished map completition and story.
– You can earn enough for repairs in WvW so you mostly don’t need to grind PvE to fuel WvW.
- If you are losing more money in dungeons than making it, you are doing something wrong.
Maybe you want some really expensive stuff that looks cool but not really much of a stat improvement… well that stuff is ment to take a while to get it and it requires I gues a fair amount of so called “grind”.

Oh and did I mention MF gear? and omnom barrs? Maybe is that what is making so much gold doing normal map roaming….

Why is there so many topics about this. Travel in gw2 IS CHEAP.
I remeber when I started, friends told me: “teleport around now, because is cheap. Later you will have to walk”. I am 80 for a week and never stopped teleporting, because is still cheap.
If I go to Orr for DE runing, i usually teleport around searching events. When I get back “home” I am usualy in few gold profit. And my runs are not long, I usualy play 1h-2h/day.
So I really do not understand, how can anyone have money problems. Unless you are hoarding stuff for w/e reason
All is vain
Oh I just remembered that there are ways of wasting money pointlessly, which might lead to an erroneous belief that you cannot earn gold at lvl 80. Sell the loot to whichever earns you more gold, TP or npc. And care when using TP as most of the lowest sell price net you less than selling to a npc!
If you are hoarding all the loot for whatever reason, keep in mind that that is gold sitting in your bank/inventory……

(edited by Tsuki.4013)
I do not get the OP and others that agree with him. How do you have money problems at lvl 80. Waypoint teleportation is cheap, repairs are cheap. Compared that even if you go into lowlvl zones to do map completion you still earn 1-2g just from running hears, events, and selling loot. if you go into Orr lvl 80 zones is just as SneakyErvin.3056 said. You get 3g in few minutes. I don’t even bother walking around much and use waypoints extensively. I do agree that geting 100g is not an easy task, and it should not be. I mean 100g is ALOT. 100g you can probably buy most if not all the best gear you need. Excluding the legendary, dungeon and cultural armors which are only aesthetics anyway.
I am 80 for about a week. I am currently sitting at about 13g, have not TPed a single rare lvl63+ and I am not selling the crafting materials. I maxed artificery in which i have put some gold and bought the full MF gear (which i think i used about 4g), and even bought gems with gold for bank expansion. I play about an hour a day. but i mostly do low level zones. The time I have spent in Orr is about 2-3 hours total, just to farm a bit of karma for the a piece of 42k gear.

I think this: New GW2 hardware suggestion
Would fix all the problems while mantling the the FOV unchanged.
All is vain
Seeing that in guild wars 2 shop there are official guild wars 2 peripherals, and computer cases. I have a suggestion for a new item, that would greatly improve gaming experience.
An official guild wars 2 monitor. More specifically a 17" monitor. With it, you would experience the beautiful guild wars 2 world in full-screen, more naturally and you would not feel the claustrophobic effect and dizziness you get with the mainstream monitors that are simply too big for the Field of View guild wars has. Also the performance would improve, and there would be no implications on pvp advantages or art distortion.
I think It would be a great addition to your guild wars 2 hardware arsenal.
You can find the concept picture of the monitor in the attachment.
All is vain
Ok, so its time I dump my thoughts on this too. (since I finally managed to log into these forums).
Guild Wars 2 still has many issues, about balance, bugs, etc. But none of those bother me as much as the FoV does. Firstly I was not sure, why I am getting headaches and dizziness while playing GW2 since the PC games I play since I got bigger screen (few years ago) do not have such a kitten FoV.
Than a friend pointed out that is the FoV that is low. I went lurking on internet to learn what is the effect of low FOV and why is affecting me.
So this is what I learned. Most of the people these days have screens that cover more than 90 degree of their field of vision while sitting in front of the pc, so corners of the screen is already in the peripheral vision. That is why a 60-75 degree FOV on such screen is unnatural and your brain gets confused. Its ok for consoles, since the TV is so far away it will not cover the 60 of your vision. I also learned that this is all common knowledge, and are the basics of 3d gaming. Tv = 60 degree, PC when screens were smaller FOV similar to TV was ok-ish, but nowadays 95 is usually the setting that fits most people.
That is also why distorted image due to increased FOV is not noticeable on pc (if you set the FOV correctly, usually 95 on pc games, but a slider is always better). Because the distortion is in our peripheral vision, and our vision there is limited, we do not see the details, but we detect motion (helps awareness).
I was hoping this is something that developers were looking into it, since at least for me, is a huge issue. Seeing many topics about it, got my hopes up. But then the Jon’s response happened….
Seriously!??? That kind of a response I would expect from a random marketing guy caught off-guard with a question he knew nothing about. And not from a “game systems designer”. This is not a personal attack or anything, I just cannot comprehend such ignorance.
performance suffers – valid point but rather have 2FPS less than feel dizzy all the time, also many other settings affect performance waaay more, but are not as important as NOT GETTING DIZZY.
Art suffers because of texture tiling – Has no idea what is he talking about, or a random excuse.
Gameplay suffers because positional awareness becomes less necessary – Has no idea what is he talking about, or a random excuse.
Again I am no expert on this, but this info on FoV is easy to find, and easy to verify. Go into any game that you can set the FoV, and fiddle with it. And the thing that surprises me the most, is that FOV in gw2 is NOT fixed, even if reading JS response it looks like it is. GW2 has some-kind of “minimum FOV”. For example if you put the game windowed and reduce the vertical size, you will notice that although vertical FOV will stay the same, the lateral will increase. Not to even mention, the instances where FOV changes because of boss fight……
Anyway there are already legit workarounds to fix this yourself, but are or annoying or expensive:
1) windowed mode: play windowed resize the gw2 window to fit in your 60 degree vision. Because the “minimum FOV” mentioned above, is enough to just shrink the window vertically, so only the height of the window falls into your 60 degree(or whatever you feel comfortable with 60-75) field of vision.
2.) buy a smaller monitor, or go further away from the monitor ……
3.)those multiple monitor setups, providing you are far enough so the height of monitor falls into your 60 degree FOV.
So someone please explain it to me. Why any of this solutions are better, and “easier” and less confusing for users than a FOV slider with a “lower performance warning” and a limit to let say 100 degree fov (if they really are concerned about pvp advantage as stated by JS) but they clearly are not since the FOV does gets increased if you “stretch” the resolution. Actually since this game is PC, MAC ONLY (not a crappy console port), a fixed 90-95 would be fine too.
At least I can play normally gw2 since now I play windowed and I do not suffer the dizziness any more, but is annoying as hell when accidentally clicking on desktop outside the window since there is no mouse “capture” to prevent getting mouse outside the window. And obviously it kills the immersion. So is not that bad. But the JS’s response really angered me…
TLDR: angry at JS ignorant reply on a serious issue. But if you are getting dizzy as me, just play windowed.
