I loved it – but as I’ve said elsewhere, having NPCs refer to Divinity’s Reach as “DR” is extremely immersion breaking. Scarlet might as well have said “LOL” instead of laughing.
Otherwise, I found it fantastic.
Is it really that immersion breaking? Throughout history, people have always come up with shortened or slang versions of names, places, people, &c.
Do you find it odd that people refer to Los Angeles as “LA” all the time? You probably don’t because the abbreviation is used so commonly. It’s the same thing with Divinity’s Reach as “DR”. If anything, I’d say it enhances the immersion because it’s something that the people of such a city might do.
It is immersion breaking, yes. In all of the first game, no NPC ever referred to Lion’s Arch as “LA”. Or Droknar’s Forge as “Droks”. Or any of the other abbreviations the players used – and until the living story, nobody did it in GW2 either. They certainly didn’t in the personal story that I can recall. It sounds like an editing mistake – like it was shorthanded while writing but nobody remembered to fix it before it was sent on to the voice actors – it makes the whole thing jarring, it sounds out of place for the NPCs to suddenly start using player slang.
But hey, that’s just my opinion, man.
It’s not “player slang”, though. People call cities by their abbreviated names all the time. NYC? LA? SF? Every American state name?
Question is in the title.
3/10, no offense, but it’s pretty stupid.
Sibrydion
Sieran. Definitely Sieran.
How do we know he’s not already released? The Underworld seems to be unstable – the portals continuously spew out shades and aataxes, and with the Exodus of the Gods keeping the Underworld closed to us, he could have been released with no one to stop him.
Your mother’s IQ is so low, she thinks a golem is a character in Lord of the Rings.
Frogless 4/10
Doesn’t really fit a sylvari.
Or just have a NPC yell, “Watch out! She’s healing herself!”
Apparently the dragon has no name? Going by what people are saying here?
I will always refer to it as Jormag, it’s the only thing that makes sense.
It’s not a dragon, it’s a dragon champion. It doesn’t have to have a name, it’s a beast whose existence is meant to be short – one of them dies every three hours.
I think I remember a Pact sylvari in Orr with a crush on a human.
I’ve spent 3 hours on this, and haven’t even got past the snowflakes yet – and I love it! It’s nice to see actually difficult content, and I know that once I do it it’s going to feel all the better for the effort!
Piken Square is the other RP server.
Sylvari can definitely insult others, I remember there’s an NPC in The Grove who says there’s a lady “whose face looks like a drake”, and I think she has some other insults, too.
The White Mantle hired bandits, to enforce their ‘rule’, called them peacekeepers.. That was basically the Krytan Civil war, which ended some 250 years ago.
No, it’s revealed in the missing parents storyline that the White Mantle is funding the bandits.
Because they want the events to feel like real things that change Tyria forever, and making them repeatable rather ruins that feeling. If you wanted to go to Times Square on New Year’s Eve to see the ball drop, they’re not going to redo it after because you couldn’t make it.
Can you think of an event that would have a bigger effect on the world than the killing of an Eldar Dragon ?
Because they let us repeat that.
That’s part of your personal story, that’s an entirely different matter.

On my overflow, the demolition team will not move. They stand still at the top of the ramp in the Karka Hive, making it impossible to progress.
It’s an inventory item, if you drop it it’ll be in there.
Tarnished Coast, also bugged.
Tarnished Coast here, same problem.
ohhh myyy gooood! time to get over this crying, allready? This is starting to get ridiculous. Grow up, to start with! You all whiners sound like cry-babies. Wisiting these forums makes me feel ashamed over the so called community. Be happy they add something at all – for free. Seriously you kittens.
(on a more personally opinion i look forward to this since i find it cool with new things and im not so uptight and a demanding prick)
sry if i might have some strong words, but come on… dont worry, be happy, for kitten sake!
So your argument is “I like this change, therefore anyone who disagrees is just whining and has invalid opinions!”
are you using windows 7? it has a bug that momentarily disables random usb devices. Microsoft supposedly fixed it with a patch but there is still “talk” that the problem can still persist
But it only disables a few buttons, not the entire device.
Sometimes (it seems to happen randomly), my keys will glitch out. My auxiliary mouse buttons will stop working, which is really inconvenient since dodge and heal are bound to them, the key to open the Hero window won’t work, and the scroll wheel, instead of zooming in and out of the map, will just change the map level. I’m not sure why this is happening.
I found an asura that kept saying “I like turtles”
All non-named asura say that.
does the grumpy old norn they partner you with when you join the vigil count?
Hey don’t diss forgal! He isn’t grumpy, he’s the most awesome warmaster! Seriously the best character in the game to me so far. Much more likeable then freaky Sieran.
Don’t you dare diss Sieran! She’s totally cherry!
EDIT: So it turns out old people are being killed because Thackeray ran away from Kralkatorrik, thus the title…Logan’s Run!

I like the idea but I see a possible problem with it. Someone posted that they placed a large number of rams in an area. If people decided to do this with blockades and backing them onto each other it could take an extremely long time to break down and would look ridiculous.
And allies should have an option to destroy it too.
Oh god, so much griefing…
…Why did they have to do it in the middle of a Friday afternoon?
I’m pretty sure OP is joking, guys.
Nah, I’ve done the fire opal one before Halloween.
I logged off in the clock tower, and when I logged back on I saw I had the mail for Act 4. The timer was almost done, though, and I wanted time to read it, so I left the area. When I got out, the mail wasn’t there. Is there anyway to receive the message again?
Yeah, happened to me too. It’s kind of disappointing.
It’s been so long since I’ve played a game with the QoL enhancing dungeon finder like Rift, WoW and Aion has that I kinda forgot what it was like to spend a large portion of my time screaming “LFG LFG LFG” over and over in chat without response.
Ah, good times.
Not really. Thank the six dungeons aren’t necessary >_>
stop being stupid. press Y.
Except almost no one uses it, and most people don’t even know it exists.
Also, this site has some good RP guides: http://guildwars2roleplay.wikispaces.com/
“wel.. it might take 9 days for you. but i havent finished mine yet and still a few days before i am finished.
wel.. it might take 9 days for you. but i havent finished mine yet and still a few days before i am finished. Not all play the same amount you know. Its kinda hard for Anet to balance this when someone playes 24/7 and some are casual.”
Have you even read the post? He was talking about only having 9 days to do the mystery monthly, not him achieving all the monthlies in 9 days.
Victor Tugelbend, Male Elementalist.
A cookie to anyone who gets the reference.
And more importantly… we out breed you. We literally just fall from a tree.
Eat a Sylvari today, defend your homeland from an army of us tomorrow…
Pah! You think norn can’t defend against a bunch of walking plants? We are born warriors! You are born as leaves!
