Do you have any video on how to play that build? that armor and hp looks incredibly scary.
I am not sure if this was intended or whether it was a bug that has gone unnoticed. There is massive discrepancy of the confusion damage based on the game mode. Below i have attached 4 screenshots. First two highlight the Confusion damage in PvE the last 2 highlights the Confusion damage in WvW. As you will see, the confusion damage in WvW is half that of PvE. Bare in mind i have only recently started playing this game. Therefore i am unsure if there was an update for this behavior.

Remind me again what this class is supposed to do? steal? last time i checked my wallet nothing was stolen. A poor name for a class if ever existed. They should call it as it is. ASSassin.
because not all classes bring something unique to instances and so there’s a lot of discrimination. ANet need to give engineers and necros something unique to make them worth taking.
Oh i see the issue. Its a fair call as well. The overall scale of this balance issue, is massive. It pretty much impacts every part of the game and the gamers experience. Lets see how anet weasels its way out of this one…..I hear Season 2 is about to start…..

Why do you need balance in PvE? Really who cares if somehow someone made a build that could take down lupicus is 2 hits. its PvE. Its matter not. But balance is a BIG issue when your enemy is not a brain dead ai.

1. this is a matter of personal opinion. I would take such point what a grain of salt. Only one’s own experience matters to him/her.
2. This depends on the environment. In PvE you could even fight naked if u want, as in no armor. I wish there was a way to bash mob with your own bare hands. Nothing is there to stop you from plying the game as you want, in PvE. In WvW or PvP well its a whole different story. You will very soon figure out what is right and not so right about your class/build/setup, and what is downright broken.
3. There are plenty of PUGs out there that do dungeons at a leisurely pace. If you advertised correctly, they will come.
4. ‘kitten’ is forum filter. That alone should show you how anet treats its members. Like childs. kitten filters.
Largos and Koda. They are both interesting, mysterious (in terms of lore) and screams for further revelation.
When this is done please update the class overview page since some are misleading with the current state of balance in the game. Gives new players faulse hopes and causes frustration when class picking for them.
Excellent choice of words there. Because the truth of the matter is, anet has sat on its hand and spent more time designing fancy looking skins and very lack luster Living Story than actually analysing the current state of affairs. The bugs/issues have been pilling on a daily basis. Truthfully if i was the guy that had to deal with 2 years of neglect. I would ask for a pay rise or haul my kitten out. Because it ain’t gonna happen any time soon.

It seems like roaming solo is a dying art. I can’t recall the last time I actually met an enemy player roaming around the battlefield by himself.
I see plenty of roamers though…in packs of 2, 3…5. It seems like everyone has given up on fair fights and prefers either running or completely overwhelming their enemies.
A shame really since solo-roaming used to be kind of fun. But now it feels like nobody dares leave the house without an easy backup.
Why? so the crazily OP’ed thieves can smack you down before you can even retaliate? Lets face it, most dont solo anymore due to the fact that thieves have the ability to unload massive DPS then stealth and remove any condi, then rinse and repeat until enemy dies. There is absolutely NO fun in trying to kill someone that keep cowering in the shadow. I believe it is because of this that people roam with 2 or more.

For the love of god. I hope Anet does not implement OPs suggestion. At least not until the classes are balanced. All i can say is, if this goes through. There will be a kittenload of warping thieves all over the place. Lets not forget about the hacks that are going arond. With this system, this will only encourage more to fall to the darkside. Not like there is anything there to prevent it in the first place :/

Guard is one of those ‘l2p’ skills. The skill does have its purpose. For example you set you pet to guard an area that is a flank to the target. If they inadvertently walk too close to the triggering zone. The pet will attack them. Usually most if not all players identify a ranger by the pet next to him/her. This skill can somewhat give small (albeit very small) survival chance, in that it will keep the player guessing as to where the ranger is. Lets face it, if the enemy knows ur a ranger they will charge you, cos you’re just a free kill to them. I mainly use this skill because it is the ONLY skill that has short CD out of every other utility skills (if traited correctly it is the fastest healing skill we have).

i think the bday gift is fixed. 3 char hit their bday and all 3 got mini queen jennah. I mean seriously? 3? i cant even sell it.
Rangers are neither here nor there. They are just fine as it is for PvE. As for the other gameplay. I personally think rangers are lacking. I wholeheartedly believe rangers need some rework. Nevertheless i take build videos with a grain of salt. I watch them and try and understand the scenario in which the advertised build would be good for, anything else is just pure speculation. Besides most of these are nothing more than cherry picked video.

Wait so now u want pets to have strong CC and/or defensive skill? so to recap you want the ranger to have a staff, that will have a skill that will make him stealth (for an x amount time, as anet will not allow perma stealth unless you’re a thief) and be able to control a pet that will go head first into a battle and be killed almost instantly, only to (possibly) reveal you with your pants down? Have you thought this through? Rangers DONT need ROOTED skills! they need mobility! and what of the other 4 skills with this weapon? bash the enemy, club the enemy, poke the enemy? at this point you will only have one useful weapon. You might aswell not join the PvP with a setup like this

How do you plan on achieving this feat? of not being seen? in PvE its pointless. In WvW the name shows up way before the avatar is rendered. Therefore the enemy (and yourself) have ample time to kitten the situation and come up with an appropriate tactic. I have no idea about PvP so maybe its somehow useful in PvP. Even if you did this gimmicky skill, ur pet will be focus fired, then you will be revealed, and now u have no pet and half the dmg to hit back with. Again, really bad idea.
Wait…what? a ranger with a staff? this doesn’t fit a ranger profile. Secondly, besides the gimmicky effect of the aforementioned skill, you would most likely be an easy kill for everyone if the skill roots you. You will most certainly take damage even if you are stealthed, dont believe that stealth will protect you. Its the combination of stealth and mobility that will truly protect you. Sorry this is a really really bad idea.
What a ranger need its unbelievable mobility like the thief, because dmg is not our foray also i would like pets such as canine and cats to be able to ‘smell’ cloaked theives. They can already tell a real mes from a clone, why cant pets do something that is natural to them? </rant>

Seriously choose whichever one you like. To choose a race based on one specific skill is, well, quite strange. Most skills can and will be countred in a non pve environment (except unblockable skills). Technobable can be easily countered by stability or even stun breakers, so the 6 second of stun duration is moot at best. I have no idea what bearcharge is, if it is some sort of charging attack, just simply dodge away, no charging attack can target your every movement. Personally i would highly recommend that you re-roll for another char since rangers are crippled by kitten pets. The ranger himself has some amazing skills but, his dmg output is the total of his attack plus the pets, and these pets are nothing more than dumb meat shield that melt away against bosses and in big zergs and sieges. So basically, if you pet dies (and it will quite frequently) you only do half the dmg. Anyway as i said, choose a race that you would enjoy playing with everyday and don’t listen to people that say choose x because it has y skill that will roflstomp everyone.

i would rather they fix the copious amount of bugs than roll out meta events on weekly basis. Drowning/deceiving people in new meta event wont make problems go away. What ticks me off even more is. Every meta event i have done (southsun to cutthroat) i get those stupid chinese character drop. every single event! this is nuts. Clearly something is broken.
No need to protest. GuildWars is not a country. ANet is not a ruling party. This is simply a game. A game that was bought under the mercantile agreement. If you don’t like their arrogant stance, then let your wallet do the talking. I personally have refused to put any more of my hard earned cash into the coffers of ANet.
So its the race that the lore is linked to. Not the candidate. So why then bundle a lore with a candidate. They are not representing their race in this event. They are representing themselves for a trade agreement. Yes I quite like my overly large sized tin foil hat.
Quit complaining. This is ANet logic and design. If you don’t like it then don’t play. Frankly I’m glad ANet brought out this useless mini-game. All the more reason for me to focus on other aspects of the game. Rather than waste my time with this meta-event.
Could a learned elder please enlighten me on how Evon is linked to the fall of Abbadon and how Kiel is linked to Thaumanova destruction? I am trying to find a reason as to why this was bundled into this ludicrous meta event.
Personally I think it’s clear that ANet has lost the plot. They have no idea where the lore is going. So what do they do? They come up with a scheme like this. You can have one but not both. Arrogance of ANet is showing. Not even trying to hide it anymore.
spawn into a game….get spawn camped….roam around mist form = survival. There are far better things to do in tyria then waste my time in mist form. Thanks Anet but no thanks. By far the worst mini game ever.
Hey! That was rude. You’re not considering the big number of new skins, minis and kites they have to develop for gemstore. Cut them some slack.
Actually its not, he’s telling it from an end user point of view. Anet has a certain level of responsibility to ensure that their games are as bug-free (wishful thinking) as possible. I like this approach of releasing new content every month. But if releasing this breaks the functionality of the core game. Then there is something seriously wrong. I for one cringe when i see my gw2 being updated. why? because I know for every 1 bug they fix they introduce another 2. I am tired of seeing the Quality of this game drop patch by patch. I am tired of submitting bug reports on a daily basis. I feel cheated by being treated as their tester.
I wish they would do some QA before releasing it instead of claiming its fixed and taking the end user for a ride.

This target locking issue has been prevalent for as long as i can remember it was never fixed. I am getting tired of constantly losing target and having to manually click on the target. This is just utter crap. Try this in WvW in a massive Zerg vs Zerg its impossible.
Ahh i see it now. I guess that explains the delay before i get the boon back up again. That poses another question. How can protection be stacked? the boon says it can be stacked.
Hello fellow rangers. I am after some advice on the Vigorous spirit trait which can be found in the Nature Magic line. The trait says “Spirits have twice as much health. Spirit bonuses have 35% better chance of providing their benefits.”
When i took this trait, the little flashing boon thingy reads “70% chance to apply xxx on hit.” At first i thought wow, 70% on hit to get boon/dmg/condition. But in reality i found that this does not seem to be the case.
I would like to use the Stone Spirit as an example. The Stone Spirit would give you a 70% chance to gain protection on hit. The boon itself lasts around 5-6 sec and says that protection can be stacked. After the boon has expired it would take around another 4 hits before i get the boon back.
There are couple things that don’t add up here. with 70% on hit chance i (with a fast firing SB) i would have expected quite a few protection stack, 5 sec is a long time couple taht with 70% chance. I would have expected to see a a refresh of the boon. Secondly i don’t understand why there is a long delay after the boon has expired to regain the boon. To me it the 70% seems to be a myth. The behaviour is more in line with 35% chance.
Has anyone else experienced this? I am scouring through the ranger trait to come up with a viable build.
since my previous post (to a thread with the same problem 2 months ago) was considered as an infraction due to thread ‘necromancy’ i am creating another topic to highlight that this bug is prevalent and is considered as game-breaking since i cannot progress any further.
The bug occurs when you are air dropped into the temple and have to fight wave after wave of risen mobs. This fight continued on for about 30+ min before i realised something was not right. Can you please fix this.
I had gone through the whole PS with my ranger when GW2 was launched an i had never hit anything like this, everything went smooth. Could you please do some QA on your ‘bug fixes.’ As i did not purchase the game to become your tester and i’m tired of reporting bugs that never get fixed.
