You have to enjoy at least a few of the many paths the game offers you to level up. If you are getting bored, you simply are not interested in any of them.

Listen to yourself, and act accordingly.

You have to unlock them via completing Season 2 living story achievements. Once you do that you can purchase additional copies via the bandit crests, laurel vendor, etc.

less than $100.00 since launch, none in the past 6 months. IMHO the majority of armor skins in the gem store look terrible (the only things I’m really interested in purchasing), lack of bug fixes, flat out ignoring terrible design decisions with fractals and the the living zerg(story) which occupies most of their focus all contribute to me not wanting to monetarily support them in any way.

I think Anet mistook the complain that “I have 8 fractal spear but not one sword” as having too many fractal weapon so they bring out the nerf hammer and nerfed the drop rate to fractal weapon.

I don’t understand fractured really. Some of the instabilities are clearly gear check. And other just makes 30+ more annoying than before. Now having to work more you assume you’ll get better reward. But no, they nerfed the drop rate.

And I still don’t understand why they make non-infused rings drop in 20+.

Sounds like the same mistake they made when everyone said dredge was unnecessarily long so they made it even longer.

Most players have been left with the feeling that Anet deems fractals as a mistake that they think they can ignore until it disappears and I don’t blame them.

As a result of the lack of communication and the bumbling of Anet on this I decided not to support them by buying Gems with real money.

Checked every one 3 times and still 1 short. It would be a no brainer to just put a checklist in the achievement that only shows the ones you have completed as you complete them. Then people can go back and compare the ones that show completed in the achievement window to a list of ones to find which one they are missing. Instead I have wasted a lot of time.

These sacks are why I never buy any of the nice skins from the gem store for my Engi because they ruin the “Engi look”. No doubt there are others that think exactly the same, just look at this thread, and Anet is missing out on revenue due to this.

For a game whose content is almost entirely based on skins its pretty sad how little attention these details get.

Would be nice if Anet would own THEIR problem which started after the flurry of Halloween patches which were more than likely rushed out the door with little testing.

At this point I probably would be doing level 6+ fractals but instead I’m getting kicked out all the time by this error and then am not able to rejoin my party. Honestly I’m thoroughly disgusted and have zero desire to spend any more real money on this game.

All I’m asking for is customer support 101, “Hey we know there is an issue and we are working to address it.” Nothing but silence and responses that say to reset your password or check your machine for malicious software, non of which are the issue.

Can almost guarantee this is not going to help. Lots of people are having this problem including me and I’m beyond frustrated with it. It all started with a certain patch a few ago prior to which I’ve had no issue. There is no malicious software on my machine nor has there ever been.

Its even more frustrating because I cant even do the new dungeon without getting kicked back to LA and then having no way of rejoining my party. Poorly thought design.

I reccomend you to perform a full scan of your system looking for viruses or other potential malicious software and enable account authentication, as well as changing your password (game and email one).

If the problem persist open a ticket to technical support as soon as possible.

This happens to be about once ever hour or two. Extremely annoying when your in a group trying to do a dungeon. Didn’t have this issue until the last round of “patches”.

Just happened again while in a fractal and now I can’t join my party. Why wasn’t this fixed prior to launching a dungeon where once your kicked out you have no way of getting back in.

Yeah, they said getting rid of the Holy Trinity would get rid of us standing around in town LFG, but it isn’t so.

Of course, they said a lot of things that just aren’t true.

Ironic isn’t it. 1 step forward 2 steps backward. Progress! It took me literally all day to find a group yesterday for Arah story mode and that’s no exaggeration.

And yes most if not everything they promised was a half truth.

People that say banning them in waves helps are wrong. It doesn’t take the botters long to figure out a way around their detection systems and when a week or two goes by with no action that’s plenty of time for them to make enough money to recoup the lose of an account.

Doesn’t matter how much automation they think they can implement to deal with this it will be circumvented by smarter people than the devs who created the system. Why? cause there is always someone as smart or smarter than you eager to break what you have made.

Nothing beats a human GM taking care of business. MMO’s have had GM’s since the dawn of MMO’s. Unfortunately for Anet that would cut into their profits but so does the mass of people that will leave the game due to this.

Why am I seeing so many user was infracted for this post notes? E.g. on the OP’s post. This is the third critical OP that has been ‘infracted’ that I’ve seen since I started seeing it the other day. I can somewhat see it for the other two topics/OPs where the OP was perhaps being uncivil. But this one? Its looking like you get infracted for just being critical.

Or is it that you get ‘infracted’ if someone reports you?

Because posting/highlighting things that show GW2 in a very negative way, even if its true and phrased in a civil and constructive manner is frowned upon I guess. It’s why I don’t come to these forums as and always afraid i’ll get banned for something silly or speaking the truth in c constructive way.

I’m not going to hold my breathe. I just logged out after witnessing 10 Hunters with names like “kldhsmsd” botting around destroying an event. Worst part is they have been there for days, probably weeks.

I’ve already decided to not spend any more money on this game until I see a meaningful impact on the bots and the ease this game is exploited. How can you expect to be taken serious as an esport when your game is being exploited/hacked so easily.

If I pay real money for something I expect it to work as advertised and that’s not what is happening. I can get about halfway through a karma booster and then I’m slammed with this poor excuse of a bot limiting solution called diminishing returns.

It’s Ironic because as I’m watching my karma earned go down to nothing directly to me right are 5 hunter bots destroying the spawns for every else and they have been there for weeks. Reporting them does nothing.

I’m done spending real money on the gem store and I’m just about done playing this game who’s devs can’t find a solution that doesn’t involve punishing its legitimate players.

I don’t see any draw back to them being account bound. It sucks when I have a ton of plans on one character I don’t really want to do WvW with anymore but can’t use them on any of my other characters.

Dungeons are terribly boring. The most boring experience I’ve had in a game in probably 10 years. Couple that with the utter lack of a sense of reward you have a guaranteed fail.

For me its about the same level as Skyrim except with tons of bots and the story is pretty shallow and generic. WvW and sPvP is about the only end game there is.

Well the whole point of karma system was that people wouldn´t need to kill same bosses over and over for a chance of drop but they could just buy their rewards instead of counting on getting it as a drop.
Karma rewards for those bosses might be a bit low, that? the problem imho.

So instead of killing the same bosses we now do the same events over and over, not really much of a difference there.

The entire Guild Wars 2 endgame goes against pretty much everything they set out to achieve in this game.

That’s because 80% of the Legendary requirements come down to “farm Orr like a Bot”.

This is the absolute truth. Now we get to see what Anet does or doesn’t do and this will determine wether I buy any future expansions or spend any more real money on the gem store.

The game is meant for casuals, they are the ones more likely to spend real money on their gem store so they are the ones Anet is targeting hence the face roll easy mode that is GW2.

Honestly starting to see that this game is designed with heavy grinding in mind, hence the fast respawns (Anet: “we are doing away with the grind”, pffftttt). Then they slap a DR system on top of it now its just one huge mess of a system designed around grinding that’s broken by DR and infested with bots.

Still being affected by them. Seriously why am I being punished for playing the game? I bought karma boosters yet I can’t even make it through the full duration of the boost without hitting DR, I can’t begin to describe how frustrating it is.

Why is it so hard to fix this? I’d honestly rather have the bots back then this poor attempt to get rid of them.

Yeah it seems like weapons of the same type aren’t always the same size. I have two great swords and one is a lot bigger than the other to the point where the large sized one looks correct and the other looks like it shrunk in the wash.

Pretty big over sight by Anet.

Botting and Teleport hacks

Seems like every spot I go to farm crafting mats has a botter. Today this player was killing grubs in Gendarran fields (broadhollow waypoint) and teleporting distances way in excess of 1,200 to each mob that spawn.

I tried talking to him, no response. When there was nothing left to kill he would teleport to the center of the spawn and wait, then before a mob would even be visible he would teleport right ontop of it.

I went a little further and for a few minutes would drag mobs to him which he would kill one after the other as long as I kept feeding them to him and once I stopped he went back to teleporting.

It’s gotten to the point now where I’m beginning to wonder why its so easy for them to exploit this game and its really cheapening my experience to see this every where I go.

I recorded a few clips of this occuring if anyone from Anet is interested in seeing them.

Went through this mission twice and it bugs conveniently right at the end with Tonn just standing there and the last object not completing even thought it is.

So very frustrating and feels like I’m playing Russian roulette each time a do a personal story mission.

I highly suspect grenades single target DMG is not intended to be higher then rifle and pistol, and will be changed in the following few weeks. Hopefully with a rifle and pistol DMG buff.

This would be the wrong way to go. Other kits need to be brought up to the level of nades not the other way around.

This is fine but sounds like they would need to redesign the majority of the events in the game and I don’t see that happening when it should have happened from the start. Basically the events are very 1 dimensional and we were told they would be multiple dimensions to them and consequences to failure but I don’t get that feeling on the majority of the events.

It honestly doesn’t feel like there is any scaling going on at all even though I can see the mobs increase in level till they hit level 84. This isn’t enough as with 50 people casting aoe things literally die in 3 seconds which results in me just standing there spamming an aoe in one spot to try and get credit.

Spawn points need to be random to avoid people spamming aoe in the one spot they know the mob is going to spawn.

Mobs need to increase in level far greater than what they do. Once they hit the level cap of what appears to be around 84 they should then get promoted to veteran status or maybe just continue to go up in level.

Bottom line giant zerg, no skill, spam fests that occur at just about all events aren’t fun and I avoid them as mindless button mashing to get karma is probably the most boring part of of the game. Sad part is that its also a large part of the game.

again, scaling power of enemies is not the answer.

What this leads to is 1 hit kills and undefeatable enemies, which is poor game design.

The answer is (in fact, I just read a thread about this, he called it ‘outscaling’) how to split up the zerg.

You need to incentive victory over failure. This can be done through the cyclical method of DEs, where failure results in a DE that takes more time and is less exciting (collecting supplies), but will eventually lead to the next, more exciting, stage.

Then you need to force multiple objectives/nodes on the zerg.

Splitting the zerg:

Defense –
As stated already, do multiple node protection where failure to hold one node drastically increases the difficulty of holding the others.

Escort -
Split up the escort.
A mob attacks, and one of the escort NPCs runs in terror and gets lost! Both need to make it back or your fail.

If you fail, you go on a rescue mission.

Destroy object -
Object can only be damaged for a brief time after another group disables another object.

~just some ideas on how to split the zerg using mechanics already in the game.

I agree. Trivializing events to the point of boredom because you have more than 5 people doing it is the biggest problem with the game right now. I don’t see how they couldn’t have seen this coming.

Don’t compare yourself to a warrior, nothing else can do that damage either. I’m surprised that greatsword hasn’t seen a damage nerf yet actually, but it’l be coming. Rifles do chip away yes, but it also takes them awhile to take notice of it. With a high crit rate you’re usually hitting for 800-1000 a shot, then tack conditions on. In wvw they can die pretty quickly to this if you also use your control abilities. It may not be warrior damage, but it’s also at range. Engineers are a hybrid power/condition class and a lot of people don’t see this. Adding in a condition damage on gear helps a ton.

May be I need to play around more in the mists but it seemed like the last time I tried it I had to stack a lot of condition damage to raise the damage each tick did just to go from 50 to 150.

My level 32 Guardian definitely feels stronger to me than my level 80 engineer.

Engineers are just fine, you just need to learn that your role isn’t straight dps in wvw. Your spec is also likely a very big issue. Your survivablity massively increases when you go 10 into alchemy and take the elixir S trait. I’m 20/20/20/10 and it’s been working great. You’re not a burst dps so don’t try to be. Rifle is much better than pistol for pvp. Root people and knock them down, you pretty much always get a kill. Underwater with grenades and turrets you’re pretty much unstoppable as well.

Playing an engineer requires a lot more skill and the ability to read the wind so to speak. Know when to run and when to push and take some risks. The best way to get kills is rooting people that slightly overextend. Mortar also works well. It’s a different type of class because it falls under more of a control kind of role and people can’t seem to understand that. If you’re not using every ability available to you, you’re obviously going to have a bad time

I have 10 in Alchemy plus toughness and vitality on some pieces. Im using the power rifle/grenade build, 30/30/0/10/0 and it feels like the only way I can do good damage is with the grenade kit. The rifle just feels like I’m slowly chipping away at them even with almost 3.5k power and 45% crit hence the dull axe analogy.

I can start killing the same mob but a warrior finishes killing them after just 2-3 buttons and I’m mashing my key binds like a mad man to do half the damage. The mind set that Engineers are a utility profession and thus cant do competitive damage is false because every class is a utility profession in this game. This mindset is true for mmo’s like wow where hybrids are not supposed to be as good as a straight up dps, tank or healer but not this one.

My level 80 engineer is wearing exotics in every slot but it just feels like I’ve been given a dull rusty axe to cut down a tree while everyone else is running around with a new super sharp one.

I’m probably going to stop playing the engineer, use him just for farming for a while and finish leveling my other characters until they address all the issues.
