About scoring, the extra PPT added recently lends to PPK needing adjustment up too. A World with a weak 0.6 KDR shouldn’t be winning. That means the are simply out populating, back capping empty maps, or sitting in upgraded keeps with siege.
I wouldn’t want PPK adjusted with the way balance is at the moment. Increasing the impact of PPK will encourage conservative tactics too much, and that isn’t fun to play as or against. Nobody wants more servers like Mag who use “buddy” systems, run away from every fight the instant they start losing or flee when they don’t have the numbers.
In any competition second and third place show be reward differently.
Most competitions don’t consist of only three players. I’m struggling to think of three-player games that treat the two losing players differently. The 3-2-1 system was essentially a participation award for the second place server. From a competitive standpoint, in a three player game the only position that matters is who comes first – either you win or you don’t.
It’s pretty fun map, I can’t imagine how people who are playing since start aren’t fed up with alpine maps already. Borderlands is really nice and with some tweaking it would be an awesome map. Dropping it completely would be a big mistake.
The desert borderlands has lots of flaws (like still being able to exploit into the keeps…), but even if those get fixed people still won’t like it. I find the biggest opponents of DBL are zerglings who don’t like the extra effects (cripple, etc) or the length of the map. Alpine by comparison is very omniblob-friendly due to the proximity of waypoints to objectives and the general shape of the map.

It’s stunning to see people claim that using the tonic isn’t cheating. It’s obvious that the tonic gives you an unintended advantage over others. That attitude reminds me of FPS players that use aim-bots and justify that it’s not cheating because “everyone else does it”. If you think that comparison is incorrect, then I would only suggest you pick up a dictionary and look up the word “cheating”.
On the bright side, people who abuse the tonic appear to be the minority of players. I might be naive, but I do think that most players would rather fight each other on an equal setting instead of becoming the lowest common denominator. I really don’t understand how people can enjoy playing the game while under the tonic
it is not cheating, its a fun thing that Anet added to the game, thats the way Anet defines fun, remmember the golem damage event?
That’s some pretty strong mental gymnastics…

Hey everyone,
We adjusted Yak’s Bend rating by +150 so they would move out of tier 3.
Was that the reason for the double reset? T3 was originally SBI/JQ/SOS, but a minute into the new matchup everyone was kicked, and T3 became SBI/FA/CD.
I thought I was at least worth a flame ram or a catapult..
Flame rams and catapults? Pssh. Golems is where it’s all at.
As an OSX player my greatest concern about this is that it might encourage everyone to siege-hump as much as possible to retain tiers on keeps/towers. The timing of the skirmishes essentially reduces OSX to being a caretaker community where a greater focus is placed upon keeping hold of keeps and towers.
I’d wager a guess that the quality of fights be will impacted as a result, so it will be interesting to see if the OSX population dips after the changes after implemented. You end up in a situation where the quality of fights are diminished while the ppt’ers don’t get to see the reward for their effort. Basically this happens for both sections of the OSX community.
All my crashes in WvW have the same wording for the assertion, file and app lines.
—> Crash <—
Assertion: (m_sphereRadius + TOLERANCE >= m_boxExtent.x) || (m_sphereRadius + TOLERANCE >= m_boxExtent.y) || (m_sphereRadius + TOLERANCE >= m_boxExtent.z)

That zerg must have been tripping on weed or something. You can make a pretty tanky ele, but 20+ players shouldn’t be giving up on capping a tower because a single ele is contesting it. As for your comment about guardians, if you’re dying to traps you are simply bad at the game. I’m sorry about being so blunt about it.
Honestly, this entire thread is just junk. It’s better articulated than your usual "everyone else is OP but me’ post, but it’s still inherently incorrect in so many ways. I highly suspect the OP was driven by emotions when he/she posted it. OP, please actually play all the classes in-depth before commenting on balance in this manner.
I don’t really get why you guys hijack your own threads – why are you talking about pve (I guess that’s squads) and pvp now if you want balance in wvw? Then say what you want and need in wvw, screw the other modes.
People are talking about PVE in the context that balance patches designed for that mode are also being applied in WvW. Most people want anet to do separate balancing for WvW, or at the very least apply PVP balancing to it.

Is it a coincidence that this is suggested when Yaks Bend is imploding? I think not. Let this forever be known amongst proper WVW players as being “ArenaCare” for siege humpers. Just think of those poor Yaks Bend players who are struggling to compete now…. What will they do if this isn’t implemented?!
jajaja. It had to be said. It’s unacceptable that a thread about siege has so many posts without YB being mentioned even once.

One of the appeals of WvW is having an advantage over other people because I can grind in PVE. We can’t have people fighting on an equal setting, can we? All the competitive people belong in SPVP!
I’ve fixed that wording for you…
The power creep was the only way that anet could/can sell HoT, so I highly doubt they will ever allow you to earn the “exclusive” runes outside of HoT PVE . In an ideal world we wouldn’t have to bother with this at all in WVW…. It really should have a system similar to SPVP where stats are normalised and people can simply pick what runes/trinkets (although not that silly combined amulet that strangles build diversity) they want to run with.
The latter isn’t really anet’s fault though. The problem with the GW2 community is that there are too many trashy players who want to be able to acquire power through grind as opposed to actually learning how to play the classes…. Having PVE exclusive runes (and to a lesser extent, ascended gear which bumps stats by 12.5% with acquisition biased towards PVE play) has always been an issue with WVW, and I don’t see that changing any time soon.
Que the “offended OCX/SEA” forum poster trying to keep their advantage over NA players on NA servers.
You know it works both ways, right? There can be tiers with supposedly “NA” servers which have a much greater OSX/SEA presence compared to their NA presence across all 3 servers. The proposed system would punish these tiers even when they have queues on all maps. In this situation, is it fair for NA players who may not have queues on their maps to get a bonus over their queued OSX/SEA counterparts?
I think ArenaNet really needs to confirm if bonuses will be based on an ever-changing time which is dependent on population activity, or if they will be limited to fixed times that never change. The original announcement doesn’t really make this clear, and that’s where most of the complaining is coming from.
