Ouch. Those chests really were bad!
I thought we were supposed to all get finishers for First, Second and Third place servers, but only a few got LIMITED USE finishers. Couldn’t even make them permanent to commemorate the first season? Hmm.

Yes. I can see where the logic might be for some of the Hammer changes, even if I think they might be a little too extreme, but this spate of Longbow nerfs seems…bizarre.
I’m not sure anyone has ever, once, complained about the Longbow in any way, shape or form. It had good functionality, and you needed to know how to use it to use it well. First came the weird AoE radius nerf for adrenaline levels I and II, and now practically destroying the base damage capability of the pulse for power/crit builds.
I’m not going to engage in the rampant rhetoric that so defines this board, but it does feel as if we’re being pushed further again to choosing condition builds.

Day 1 Warrior. Lasted through the dark months, will last through this odd hammer change too. Will still have fun.

I’m not going to rag on Anet like so many players do about every little thing, but I do dislike Scarlet, and if she ends up disappearing off the top of the tower in a puff of smoke again just as we’re about the fight her, it will be quite irritating. This seems like such an epic development in the story, and the perfect time for a monumental, climactic moment for her…and by that I mean her death.
Having said that, I still have no bloody clue what she’s doing getting all these groups together, and no doubt ANet want to tell us that before they do her in, or at least give some big twist that hasn’t come yet…so I imagine we’ll see her around again until she can give her big, final villain monologue.

Until we get an expansion (or something that equates to that) we will not see anymore weapons or armor skins added to the game that don’t revolve around RNG boxes, gems, or ca$h.
You know, except for all those many champion bag weapons they added a while back.

My own character is a Mary Sue – a spoiled, rich brat who knuckled down after personal tragedies to become the Commander of the Pact, one of the most powerful and influential individuals in the entire world, an expert in all forms of melee weaponry, a slayer of hundreds of thousands of evildoers, a personal friend to Logan Thackery and the royalty of Divinity’s Reach, handsome, has fabulous hair, endless resources for purchasing the finest glowing, sparkling weaponry and armour known to the races of Tyria – not that he would need to, what with being a Grandmaster Armor and Weaponsmith and able to craft weapons that would make the Gods weep with envy – and has faced down a elder dragon, defeating it without even displacing a lock of his achingly fabulous hair.

I’ve been enjoying it. You’re never going to stop players zerging if they can, but the actual content itself feels a lot more substantial than it has in some previous releases. There’s a genuine growing sense of mystery, the new mob dynamics are fun, and it’s great to see a zone truly affected by the Living Story. Also, lots more new voice acting and dialogue is a plus – I had previously complained because every release felt like we were being drip fed plot (in some releases, the plot was advanced in a single line of dialogue…), but it’s nice to see progress.

There’s definitely an arguement for making costumes and town clothes visible in PvE combat. Keep them disabled in WvW/PvP of course, but why not PvE?
Think about it, I bet town clothes and costumes are currently irrelevant to most players, because they don’t hang about socialising in the town hubs and so have no real use for them. Allow them in PvE, and everyone is happy – players have a greater variety of looks without attaining an unfair advantage against other players (as they would regarding class identification in WvW or PvP) and Anet has another source of income as suddenly more players are attracted to them in the Gem store because they have a real use.
You could use some costume parts in PvE combat in Guild Wars 1, and you know what? It was FUN, and contributed to the vibrancy of the game itself!

This really isn’t the achievement you should be complaining about. If you like to WvW and you do it regularly (because, hell, this is what the WvW season should be designed for – people who LIKE to WvW), you’ll get those 50 ranks. And when I say regularly, I don’t even mean you need to play 5 hours a day.
I’ve done, at max, 2 hours a night this week – mostly around an hour to 90 minutes per day – and I’ve earned 20 World Ranks already. With the more common WvW consumable drops it’s even easier than it was before, too.

Scarlet teams with the krait. They bargain with her to gain great power. Scarlet finally pays for her endless ambition, biting off more than she can chew by underestimating the fanaticism and ferocity of the ancient Krait – the Krait, using their new power, enslave her, tear her apart and take her knowledge and soul, infusing it into a twisted constructed body to create a new matriarch, a Blood Witch more powerful, cunning and evil than any that came before. It’s a race against time for the players to bring down the Krait tower before the infusion is complete, and an unstoppable force unleashed to enslave Kryta.
Oh, sorry, I was daydreaming for a second.
Scarlet will make some terrible jokes, we’ll jump through some hoops, she’ll say “tatty bye” and disappear in a puff of smoke to reappear in another themed funhouse in a few weeks time.

How about you try, you know, ignoring the player? With that amount of regen and defence, their damage is going to be pretty poor unless they trap you with a condition burst, and even then some cleansing utterly nullifies it.
There’s no real mystery to how this kind of thing works, it’s usually a combination of Apothecary’s Gear (since you said they had some CD, I’m assuming it’s Apothecary’s) – Banner Regen – Healing Signet – Adrenal Health – Health Regen Food.
Hell, they might even slap Runes of the Dolyak on their armour if they really don’t care about how bad it is, and just want to stack as much regen as possible.
Burst damage still hurts them – and Healing Signet isn’t going to get them out of anything if they get properly focused.

I genuinely believe land-based Spears would be a wonderful addition to the game.
For Warriors it could be melee, for Guardians a ranged thrown weapon akin to the Paragon from GW1 (since the class is partly based on them, of course), and for Rangers…I don’t know…a CC melee weapon perhaps, dragging enemies down with a net and skewering them, and a cone sweep knockdown?
Gandara
Paying to win at an entirely optional activity is not the typical definition of pay2win. I know a few guildies who have gone deep into Tribulation mode without even sniffing at the prospect of using an infinite coin.
The rhetoric on this forum of late is out of bloody control. No one has come into your house and shot your family, y’know.
Gandara
Yes, but Malafide specifically said, in her last post, that they were inspired by Season One of the show Game of Thrones.
I’m not saying the GW2 writers hadn’t read ASOIAF, I’m just saying it’s unlikely the show was the source of inspiration for that.
Gandara
In current state all its does is bleeds, cripple, vul
That sounds like ‘various’ conditions to me.
Gandara
Season One of GoT aired in mid-2011 – the first beta of GW2 was only a few months later – I’m pretty sure the bulk of the core writing (particularly with regards to the personal story) was done and drafted by that point so the voice acting could be done.

Perhaps a mix of the art style and the rather restrictive camera?

Re: Tequatl – logically, he’s probably just free of his master’s influence. He’s a rogue agent now, but one who’s amassed quite some power. He’s Subotai, operating independently of Genghis Khan.
Since he’s been harassing the coast of the mainland, he was spared the slaughter of the Pact’s invasion of Orr and the destruction of the other champions. It makes sense that, as an intelligent creature, he would seek to amass his own power.
Gandara
The SAB is an invention by an Asuran genius – one who is probably quite insular, selfish, but brilliant. Scarlet is a dangerous terrorist carrying out targeted actions around the world, but that’s not to say it’s putting Rata Sum in immediate or critical danger like, say, a dragon champion would.
Therefore, this Asura probably cares little about that relatively minor (in his estimation) external threat. In fact, in the many months he’s hunkered in his lab, tinkering and improving his SAB, he’s probably paid little attention to anything happening in the outside world.
To say it’s odd timing to have the SAB right after Scarlet’s invasions is to misunderstand an Asura of this nature. He was going to go ahead with this reveal regardless.
There’s a lore explanation, for you. If that helps you sleep better, then good!

Got 25 from the Golem, guildies got 20 and 22. So that seems like a solid choice.

Ecto's . . . How do we get them now?

They still drop from salvaging higher level rares and exotics, yes. Just got a bunch.

If they ever did add land-based spears, I’d imagine (based on absolutely no evidence or suggestion, just my hunch) that Warriors would receive it in a melee form, whereas Guardians would use it as the thrown javelin, a la their closest GW1 equivalents and the class they’re somewhat inspired by, the Paragon.

When’s the Hammer ever been a problem? It’s always functioned as it does now. You can’t perma-stun with it, unless you’re suggesting the combination with the Mace, a specific set of sigils and traits that’s currently doing the rounds.
It’s a very specific build that you’re probably having problems with, so I suggest you readjust the aim of your vitriol, sir.
You can chain-CC with the Hammer, but this is BY DESIGN because those CC’s are on long cooldowns and most decent players can avoid the full combo by using stun breaks, stability, etc.
Gandara
well it works good for you, but why sword-offhand xD?
You probably do not have that much condi DMG – is torment worth it?
There are other uses for the sword offhand – a 2 1/4 second block every 15 seconds that doesn’t cancel when blocking ranged projectiles – for blocking ranged attacks(largely what you’re faced with in WvW), it’s can be a better option than a shield!
He also has mace mainhand – the 2 skill does much the same thing. If you slot the reflection trait, it’s even MORE fun :P You’ll feel like a Jedi.

Human can’t stand in a fight with true power and agressivity of Norn and Charrs.
I dunno, man, I killed tens of thousands of Charr on my GW1 character

I like the build, been playing it for few days allthough i changed it after some matches because the damage was so low. With undead runes you gain nearly 300 conditiondmg because of the high toughness and with sigil of geomancy you have a nice aoe bleed, especially for my friends with their spiritarmy.
Hah, crazy, I was just about to come in and suggest the same change! From the old build, you lose around 90 healing power and the rune based heal procs, but gain around 300 condition damage as you said. I felt like I was overhealing in the old build and not putting out quite enough damage – once I changed runes I felt far more effective.
Gandara
Distracting Strikes in the Strength line gives confusion on interrupt, so I presume he used Shield Bash and one or two other CC’s – Bull’s Charge a likely culprit – combined with the new Runes of Perplexity on his armour.
Gandara
If you’re talking SPVP (when condition reduction food isn’t available) then, ironically, focused condition spam will melt the build.
Something needs to be done about the regen abilities which are fairly excessive right now. After those are toned down I think we’d be looking at a more balanced build.
But yes, in SPVP, pack conditions, various and hard hitting, stay out of the fire field and you’ll soon chip away at the weaknesses.
Gandara
1.5k toughness practically is glass against Eviscerate, unfortunately. I’m not surprised, really. It’s painful when it lands, as is intended.
Gandara
Well it’s the Axe burst skill and is potentially one of our most devastating abilities. High stacks of might most likely? Toughness only takes you so far against the game mechanics! Ouchie. What’s your armor/defence rating?
Edit: Also a combination of a number of other possible things – Grandmaster trait in Discipline line making burst skills do more damage, perhaps. Was he below 50% health? There’s a trait in Tactics that gives +20% damage while below that threshold, too.
Most likely just exceptionally high crit damage bonus, though. I’ve seen 10k’s when hovering around 90% crit damage with unexceptional Power stats – offensive builds can stack 120%. It’ll cut through pretty much anything if it crits at that level.

It’s FAR from a bad weapon. It’s one of our most effective, in fact. After all my hours in WvW through countless builds and weapon combinations, I’ve always come back to the Longbow – I think it’s essential for co-ordinated fights.
For solo roaming (which is rather trendy) it’s not required though, so you’ll more often see a Warrior with two sets of melee weapons.
I tend to couple Longbow with Sword/x depending on requirements, particularly now that the sword is much improved as a combat weapon. You can cover many bases. The Longbow is an incredible weapon – I’m quite proud to be an LB hipster – I’ve extolled it’s capabilities from day one, even when everyone was in love with the Rifle.
Gandara
Add a pull to Sword #4 – almost like a chain attached – more CC for the warrior, great for single-target combat (which seems to be the point of sword offhand). 900 range pull, would be dynamic, effective, fun and set it apart from other weapons.
Impale stays the same, naturally.

I used to run dual swords in the early days of PvP and found it immensely fun. For some reason, call it pressure from the pvp forums who often suggested swords were useless, I moved away from it. Today I struggled in PvP with my usual builds and I decided to go back to the dual swords – it was a build very similar to yours, but I hadn’t thought to try Shaman’s amulet with it. As soon as I made that switch, I was rolling.
Then again, I always loved the feel of the sword, I know some don’t. This build is definitely worth a try for anyone suffering through the weaknesses of the Warrior recently. It’s a palate cleanser, that’s for sure, and remarkably effective.

Try it if you like, but I guarantee when you become more experienced you’ll feel like there are other more useful alternatives.
For me, it’s either/or with Warhorn and Shield dependent on mainhand weapon, my current build and role in my WvW team.
Warhorn is superb for escapes – in those situations, the combination of sword and warhorn is the best combination to get you out of a bad situation – one that 3s of blocking might well not do (after all, it’s better to be 200m away from the losing battle than stuck inside it after a block!) It’s also superb at chasing down runners and blocking flankers.
However, shield may suit you during toe-to-toe battles where escape isn’t the intention – holding a gate/keep, defending stonemist, assaulting a Lord in a small group etc. Something where you need to plant yourself and fight.
My advice, keep both in your inventory and swap between them in the same slot as necessary – Warhorn for field battles, Shield for objective fights, something like that. Use your other set for something else. A ranged weapon is always a solid choice, especially if you’re not WvW experienced yet.

They’re the T1 Human Cultural leggings. Rare, lvl 35 requirement. I actually use these along with the shoulder piece of the same set transmuted at Level 80 since I like more realistic looking armor

Polearms/Halberds/Bardiches – this type of weapon would be most welcome.
It could have lower flat damage and be slower, but with 360 degree attacks. That way, it has a distinct role that doesn’t detract from existing weapons.
It could also have stronger defense than the other 2h which is something we don’t really have – a defensive 2her. We’d have the offensive 2h (GS), the CC and utility-focused 2h (Hammer), and then the defensive 2h (Polearm).
You could come up with some very creative skill designs for it. Imagine an auto-attack chain that goes: 180 degree strike -> 360 degree strike -> 360 degree strike with 1s projectile block. Could call the last movement in the chain “Arrow-cutter”, or something, in honour of the famous samurai Gochi-in Tajima who used a polearm to (supposedly) strike enemy arrows away mid-flight.

God no. It would look ridiculous. First time I see a person dual wielding Sunrise and Twilight I’ll quit the game.

While it’s not exactly Warrior specific, I did have a cracking moment in SPVP today as a Warrior when I was fighting a Mesmer on a capture point – he used his “LOL you die” button and turned me into a Moa. I thought I was done for…
I proceeded to down him while in Moa form and capture the point.
I laughed so hard my bowels nearly failed me.
Gandara
Don’t underestimate a mix of Berserker and Cavalier gear. With the right consumables, you can run a devastating mix of high Toughness, Precision, Power and Crit Damage. It’s the way to run for WvW, I’d say. Pack some condition removal too and you’re going to be a menace. Thieves? You’ll eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner in a straight up fight.
Full PVT with healing shouts has become the WAMMO of Guild Wars 2, unfortunately. I’ve never found it particularly effective for making a difference in WvW.
Gandara
Axe/Shield is solid for many encounters Great damage, solid defense, and the stun helps with landing Eviscerate. A nice one-two punch.
Gandara
Devs have hinted that Warrior might be one of the candidates for some sort of boon-hate/removal skills, right? Offhand Sword might be the perfect choice for that. Right now it’s fun and can do some great damage, but it’s lacking a real role like the other offhands – it’s another bleed stick like its mainhand counterpart.
I propose that Rip (the secondary skill to Impale) could take boons from the target too. It requires some skill to pull off in PvP, which should in itself provide a balance. Also, it fits the description – it sounds like a very savage blow, so devastating that it rips 2 or 3 boons from your enemy.
Gandara
My Warrior, Tarian. I have a thing for somewhat more realistic armour sets, so I tried to put together the most feasible set I could while still looking well-protected. It turns out that, for a long time, I was overlooking the T1 human cultural set completely, in my arrogant belief it was somehow ‘lesser’, being T1. There are some very nice individual parts to it, particularly the shoulder piece which is now my favourite in the entire game.
Helmeted and unhelmeted (ooh err), my full P/V/T set – Transmuted mix of Vigil helm, AC pieces, T1 cultural shoulder and leggings. Destroyer Axe and Kryta’s Embrace shield:
