Dear Anet,
please do something about ectos.
it’s getting out of hand, i mean, it’s ok if you want to get a single item, but crafting to gear alts is just not worth it these days (and crafting as a gold source is a joke)
during the past week i got a truckload of vendor blues-greens and only a handful of rares/exotics. using the mystic kit + my lousy luck 2/3 of that handful (mostly rares) became only mithril and sigils
i know we can “farm rares” or “turn off your brain and grind orr” or “gear in MF gear and be that guy” but, can’t we like, get more sources of ectos?
it’s hard to score good drops with non MF gear, and to make it worse it often ends up in one of those “yay yellow text on my chest loot — wait it’s a stupid tonic” situations
maybe, i don’t know, trade tokens/kidneys for ectos or something? or, make an offer to zomorros of idk, wine+badges+tokens+skill points and get ectos?
Have you deleted old mail? maybe you’re at maximum.
as i mentioned that’s one of the first things i checked
luckily it’s a bug so we just have to wait and hope for the best, here’s the quote
If you bought a Makeover kit or Hair kit within the last 2 hours and haven’t received it, please be patient. We are working to resolve issues with the Gem Store.
However, if you bought one of these items back when this was originally posted, and were charged gems but did not receive an item, please file a support ticket at support.guildwars2.com
Just came to say that i too am a victim of the weird TP activity going on right now.
purchased gems (that part worked) but the moment i spend em on one hair style and one make over, both transactions are listed as completed (aka they appear on my gemstore main screen under recent activity) but got no mail(s) (and yeah my mailbox is empty, cleared everything, tried relogging, nothing)
apparently i’m not the only one so i’m just adding my case for statistics.
thanks!
rofl, here son, it’s on the wiki

never hurts to do some research before using ingame services
Howdy,
Question, why can’t we remain in the dungeon when we get disconnected (error 7) or similar scenarios that end up in the game going belly up?
allow me to explain you what happened
I’ve ran CoE during the past days and everything was going along nicely (this ain’t a thread about the token thing) but today i got a killer error 7 combo “of doom”
i was doing the alarm gauntlet event, died and ported back to the closest WP (inside the dungeon, not the dungeon entrance wp)
bam i hit error 7
it closes the game and i relog outside the instance, the “join party” msgshows up, but nothing happens, i try stepping away from the portal and clicking again, nothing
i relog and bam! the game suddenly closes and does the “send report to Anet” thing
that’s when everything went belly up
to summarize, trying to get back in (which i never successfully achieved btw) i:
1. got random “join your group” or “join your group / replay story” options
2. entered a different explorable instance
3. entered, only to get kicked back and died
4. relogged, and got zerged by the control event
5. left party, logged on another toon, logged back, got reinvited and the “join party” thing never showed up when right clicking on my group
6. got no error 7s but lost like 20s porting far away trying to “reset” the error
7. got more of the #2
i think all this nonsense would be fixed if on d/c we would remain inside the instance, specially the “hey you fought to get inside, but guess what? error 7 ported you out and it’s contested again, enjoy your zerg”
btw i still can’t enter the instance, and i did everything from leaving party, logged on another toon, reset pc, game, router, cried in the shower, prayed for rain, etc.
GW2 "endgame" model is fine. Execution doesn't make sense tho, problem and solution.

I agree with the “get people out of orr” part
but i disagree with the “i don’t have time, but i want the nice stuff” thing. seriously, the legendaries and prestige gear should remain to the people that spend time doing that stuff. back in the original game it was like that, i rocked the normal gear for a loooooooooong time (months, not weeks after launch) before i had the chance to purchase my first 15k gear and i never moaned that “omg i want that but i would be forced to grind and i’ve a job”
hell, i’m rocking my rares right now, but i see people moaning on both sides
one side “omg i’ve a life and i can’t do the grindy stuff, yet i want to get those items”
the other side “omg these guys with jobs and stuff, flailing their CCs and becoming instantly rich, it’s not fair”
seriously, get over that and enjoy the “perks” of your side, the people with jobs, we’ve access to gems/gold, boosters and an assortment of other things
the people with free time will have access to speed runs-farming-legendaries
somewhere something happened that turned mmos into “everyone should have access to everything, or welfare equivalents” (and we all know the culprit)
seriously, the game is only one month old, if you are seriously casual, do you expect you would have the same kind of gear than the people that log 6+ hours a day? i’ve my rares and i’m clear i’ll match the exotic geared people in a couple months, i’ve no rush nor need to get that stuff asap
i think the trinity is still in there, the mechanic we lost is the “taunt”
and instead we got the “dodge” or “kite” or “knockback”
the problem is that without the “taunt” if the target is a squishy without points in vit-tough they will probably go down soon with no real way to rescue em, and in the end what made a good “tank” was the ability to sponge damage and keep it on em, and that last part is what we’re missing with the bosses either darting around between players or going aoe on everyone
i honestly believe that the dungeons need some work only because some of the design choices aren’t fun.
but when it comes to casuals being able to do em, i believe they are ok, i’ve done runs with guild groups and pugs, and while the rewards/repair ratio is broken right now, the times we wiped (and boy we did it badly) forced us to rethink our strategies, figure out how we could combo each other or provide better support, and overall learn and not “tank and spank”
on the other hand, i don’t get the legendaries argument, should everyone really have a chance at getting em without doing some painful grind? wait, before you trash me, lemme just said i played the original gw, lotro, doac, aoc and a bunch of others “casually” and i NEVER got a single legendary and i never really felt i was missing something. of course then came wow and i got free epics and a handful legendaries, but i got no “sense of accomplishment” out of em compared to the other titles where i was just doing my thing with my crappy “salaryman” gear
on the other hand…
the mechanics need some tuning, let’s break this part on smaller chunks:
1. the “large HP pools + massive hits = fun” thing as a design philosophy is wrong. dungeons need to be challenging thru mechanics and forcing people to keep an eye on what’s happening instead of going all out on the mobs.
2. the telegraphing skills part. honestly i believe the abilities are ok, not everything needs to be red circles, changing animations should be enough, the game should remain that way, not end up like wow with everyone just waiting for that huge message on their screen telling em to run away, stop casting, etc.
3. story modes should be the “casual” level, they should be easier but gradually ramp up in difficulty, so people can start practicing the “team play” they should’ve learned during the world bosses
4. the “CC skills” should get an alternative dps/function, like, if i can’t slow-stun-knockback-push the mob, at least i’ll do some dmg or dazed or something for a couple secs, so people will feel they aren’t just getting useless buttons on their action bar and instead focus on how to change their strat.
5. on the other hand, have you considered what would happen if suddenly they lowered the HP in half across the board on the long run? the people that are clearing everything now will finish their sets soon, find there’s no more “hardcore” content, and leave along their strategies, leaving behind the next wave that would do the same thing, and so on. clearly we’re ignoring the part that dungeons are meant to be the “prestige” armor thing, not just strap lvl 80 rares and let’s go, there must be some form of pain in there to force people how to rethink their strategies according to what’s on their pug/static, of course, with this i mean the explorable modes, not the story modes btw, since those are like, the only way to get the other half of the “main story”
boy gotta love these threads, it basically boils down to doing some “soul searching” and placing yourself either on the “casual” side or the “elite” side and bashing each other.
honestly i consider myself a casual, but sadly i’m well aware that a lot of my fellow “casuals” are just people moaning for devs to spoon feed em content.
examples (and i did my best to explain this during the first few weeks but now i just let em be)
1. during the first few days people told me they had no “clue” where to go or how to play (and some actually dropped the game thanks to this “wtf no tutorial” rant), clearly expecting some WoW style hand holding tutorial that they needed to “farm” hearts and events to level up. Why this happens? cause they expect the “blah blah blah TL;DR: __” quest summary thing. the game clearly puts a scout right in front of you that explains those mechanics but people just want to skip the reading and go down and “kill things”. this is the first step on the long road that ends with explorable dungeons
2. people often ask “where do i? ____” man, TALK TO THE NPCs, seriously, these games are MMORPGs in the first place, but somewhere down the line we forgot about the “RPG” part and it’s just “MMO” aka hang with bros and get loot. every single thing that i find people can’t figure out, there’s an npc that clearly explains it, be it how to get to that vista in lion’s arch down to the npcs giving directions, thing is, there’s no big yellow ! on top of em so people just ignore the ones that aren’t vendors/karm/repair.
3. it’s an MMO: a lot of people just want to go all out and unload on mobs to get their rewards, when the game clearly encourages cooperation. please don’t read this as “omg so we’ve to run tough/vit builds” no, i’m talking simple stuff as, learn how to create combo fields, be ready to revive downed players, bring at least one skill that gives some sort of group buff/cc. the first step is for people to stop considering how they can shine in the dungeons and start thinking how they can contribute to the goals, there’s no “inspect” no “dps meter” nothing right now that encourages you to try and get some sort of satisfaction of being the best player in X run, so think “multiplayer” and help others
4. have some curiosity please!, seriously, some of the stuff i’ve read, the boss’ unshakeable mechanic thing, it’s on lousy champions you find on starter zones! (at least i remember seeing em on 15-25 zones) do you remember those guys you rushed to tag along 10+ players? did you ever stop and read under their names and realized their abilities are CLEARLY started in there, and that some had a white icon? those icons are unique, so you can figure out the ones that frenzy and stuff like that real quick, so next time you see some orange + or an orange boot or something like that, please take a moment to read em, believe me, at level 20 the mobs that have that stuff won’t one shot you, so you’ve 60+ levels to learn to quickly spot mobs with special abilities.
5. try to figure out the basic things the other classes do. i’m an elementalist, i’ve a job so i can’t actually spend my whole day reading the wiki, but during the first 20 levels i learned these basic tips
a. if you see a banner-flag thing, stay somewhere close, it’s a buff
b. if you see a friendly purple burble thing, stand inside, it may give buffs
c. if you see some sort of non red circle, try and stand inside and check if on the lower right side of your screen you get some buff
d. if you see any circles with whiteish auras, stay inside, it’s a heal
e. if you see someone down and it’s safe to approach em, go and pick em up real quick, it’s faster to pick downed players compared to dead ones
and i learned all that without youtube, wikis or tutorials and having a normal job to pay my bills, was that hard? no way
