Splitting between Knights and Valkyrie’s, mostly, for a good spread to Power, Crit, Vitality and Crit Damage.
Same here.
Sword + board / staff usually.
Seems people here would prefer more distinct melodies and different themes for zones. This is the model of past games.
I think I prefer the direction we’re going. Instead of immersion breaking jarring changes between tracks, we have a seemless tapestry of beautiful textures and background music. There are times when the music rises and a gorgeous melodic turn emerges and I find myself turning up the volume to enjoy. Other times the music returns to the background and subtly enhances the atmosphere of the game. Even the quiet times help the world breath. The music is layed out this way to support the game, not to become the focal point and detract attention away from the game. These are the same principles that direct the way a musical score in a film is used.
Immersion is key and the music serves the game perfectly.
I don’t really understand your argument.
Your Monk/Duelist suggestions seem either too similar or redundant to existing abilities to set them apart and warrant inclusion.
“guardianish”
Yeah, I made up a word. Big whoop, wanna fight about it? =)
I feel like these ideas encroach too much on the Guardian.
Meditations, projectile reflecting, 1-hand sword play, etc.
applying an effect to surrounding allies that applies boons, or removes conditions
Sounds very Guardianish to me.
rarely use a 1h sword on my guardian, its kinda’ crappy.
Disagree, I find the 1h sword to be amazing on the Guardian.
You know, get in-get out stuff.
The 1h sword for Guardians have a teleport-in ability. Much like your ‘Dashing in’ suggestion.

Cool, right on! I’m glad you’re happier with version 2.
I did the same thing for appearance/name reasons with a level 11 Guardian.
Also, to your main point in the OP, I agree. I have all the gear I want stat-wise and the feeling of freedom is quite nice for a change.
Ha! You think you like Guardians? Please, step aside Junior. I wrote the book (Guide) on Guardians. I’ll see your Guardian and raise you another Guardian!! I’ve been leveling Guardians since before you were born!!!
But seriously, why did you level another Guardian to 80? I’m curious.
I feel as if most of you were given a nice new Porsche after having driven a Honda Civic for the past few years, you’d complain that the pedals aren’t the same distance from your feet.
Ha!
+1
Although I doubt this needs to be suggested as it is probably already on their do-to list.
An ETA would be nice though.
For all those who say a longbow wouldnt fit with the soldier/paladin feel of the guardian i found some pictures of heavily armored fantasy archers.

Those are Warriors, man, not Guardians.
I like the name of your Engineer the best.
I have done almost everything there is to do in this game. And I’m not playing 24/7.
What’s your /age at?
people that buy a game on day 1…blast through it..then jump on the forums complaining that its rubbish and does not cater to them.
You basically described Rush.8239 to a T.
New posts daily detailing how he is bored, he’s done everything, etc etc.
I think he could use a little… vacation. Hint hint mods.
You do not dodge when his animation shows that he is stepping on you, its too late. You dodge when his foot is still raising up
I found this to be the case as well, while fighting Kol. Seems like you need to dodge slightly too early for the evade.
- The music
I turn down the effects and turn up the music and find myself humming along consistently.
- The world
Particularly impressed with the cities. I want to live in Divinity’s Reach IRL.
- WvW
So epic.
I already got full exotic gear because I’m 400 armorsmithing and I made it. i farmed cof 30+ times for the great sword
Brag post deleted.
Imagine?
As much as people may not appreciate JemL’s way of communicating, I think he’s right.
The staff is absolutely amazing and
the line of warding is completely worthless in all situations
this is ridiculous.
I like the idea of a fantasy world that’s only limited by imagination
Realistically there needs be additional limitations beyond imagination or else we would have:
knight charging into battle on a moon boots and a pimp coat wearing mechanical t-rex , that is spitting rainbows while throwing unicorns and gnomes at the same time and is piloted by David Hasselhoff, a singing cheeseburger and a couple of drunk playmates.
scepter is great weapon as it is but its mid range not long range weapon
The scepter’s 1 and 2 skill are both 1200 range. The snare is 900.
The idea that guns can’t be magic is just fantasy traditionalism.
That’s a good point and I agree. I’m sure my perspective is influenced by fantasy traditionalism.
This is largely why I have a hard time reconciling Guardians with bows and guns.
(edited by Vaeyrune.6804)
A horrible, complicated class without the survivability or healing it claims to have.
You take that back, you heretic!
The bow is the only ghost weapon out of the 4 that the Guardian can’t wield.
I actually think having a spirit bow is a bit of a stretch already.. it’s flirting with the line of what fits with the profession in my mind. A physical bow would be out of the question.
A staff? Wands? Tomes? Those things are for wizards, not knights!
It’s called a Scepter! And I disagree, my good sir.
And if anyone is wondering, Rifles should also be off limits to Guardians.
Are there any plans on giving Guardians non-caster ranged weapons?

Guardians are not warriors, they are very much a magical based class… they didn’t give guardians your standard physical damage ranged weapons because thats not what they are…
they are your protectors with the use of magic which is why even their melee weapons are big onto the magic side of controlling the field and not so much the physical side.
This guy is close to the mark.
I really think you might actually enjoy playing the warrior more, making use of the rifle or bow.
There’s an extension (plugin) for Google Chrome called ‘Change Colors’. It allows you to set style sheet preferences including font, background color, disable images, etc.
Here’s the actual description of the extension:
‘Change pages styling according to the user’s preferences.’
Humans:
- Faces, faces, faces: Yes – faces. Humans fall worst in my opinion. People have been complaining for months. Pointing out that humans look like supermodels. Too pretty. Too polished. Too perfect.
Humans are my favourite race in the game and I think they look great! Very happy with the level of customization. (Although my friend wants a ponytail for his necro badly)
I’d love Longbow for Guardians.
Not I.
No longbows, shortbows, rifles, or pistols please. I really think the Dev team got it right.
wand
crystal ball (OH)
broomstick
I don’t mind the map.. although I’m not a huge fan of the sharks honestly.
Would be cooler imo to have clean underwater fights (no sharks).
See, I don’t like picturing my guardian as a ‘heavily armored brute’. I understand others do, and I have no problem with the massive number of over-sized Norns running around with hammers and great swords.
I, on the other hand, prefer more of a holy caster, smiting foes, cleansing their sins with blue flames of purity.
Different styles, but I’m glad GW2 allows for this. I don’t want to eliminate options or pigeonhole the class into only one box.
I’m sure they will add this feature as one of their ‘services’ in the future. This along with character name changes.
I feel forced to literally do a full zone completion just to feel close to the level I am supposed to be at. I frankly have to do other things just to level and cannot only do a single pass in that zone at my level and ding ready for the next zone.
I get where you’re coming from.
The leveling grind can definitely feel daunting, somewhat tedious and long. I’m not convinced that is necessarily a bad thing, as the game promotes experiencing different facets of the content, but I can see where feelings of exasperation can enter the picture.
At least the landscape and the music are beautiful.

I don’t want any more pve in my WvW.
I kill everything. I’m running a Sword\Torch Teleport Burning Condition.
I like your moves.
The Scepter is boring.
Nah
It’s beyond boring.
I like the slow moving tennis balls and the chains is satisfying to use.
If anything, the visuals of the 2nd skill could be improved, but I like the skill itself.
The Scepter is boring.
Nah
Sword and Scepter are my favs. Everyone has opinions I guess.
Sounds great – I may be interested in joining.
