It won’t be like this constantly. This is the first couple days of a huge update that has been talked about for weeks. While you may be annoyed at achievement seekers, the achievements do add more to WvW for people who only do WvW. There is currently a hype among all players of GW2 towards WvW and, like all other hypes, it will die down.
It really should not be surprising how clustered the first few days of a large update is.
To all of you crying about how you think ascended gear is ruining the game- you are just angry because you have more stuff to do in-game now. You didn’t waste your time with exotics, they’ve been great for a while now… and they will stay great even longer.
They even said that ascended gear is going to be released slowly, I mean, all we’re starting with here is a back piece and a ring. Come on. I know that I wouldn’t want the game to just stay the same without any new content like this… it’s great.
Lastly, referring to this as some kind of epic grind is crazy. Just because you hear that there’s new gear, you assume that it’ll take ages to get and that this is going to be a never-ending sequence of new tiers of gear. You’re the ones making the big mistake. It’s your fault that you’re losing interest.
How is this not fixed yet? How can not being able to place siege be such a huge issue that it has not been fixed?
I didn’t want to complain, but wvw is very unstable right now and this match-up is pretty much invalid since anyone can form a map zerg and golem rush whatever they want.
Well we never have to proclaim we are the king, typically the forums and your peers etc announce us as number 1 NA, never have the words number 1 NA come out of any TW. Thanks for the title though! As for losing to EP and RG, well what can I say, RG is a legend and was methodical about GvG’s, and EP is the new king of 15’s. I fail to see how that would affect us, good try though!

Yeah we did turn down a GvG after fighting the very skilled EP, they showed us a lot of stuff as a guild that we were doing wrong. We also lost our GL to a business trip 2 days after that GvG, why would we go into a GvG unprepared and without our GvG leader? Thank you though for this post, most of our guys are getting a good laugh atm! Don’t lose hope my precious soul, a GvG between EP and TW for 20 v 20 crown will happen I’m sure. For all the hate towards GvG’s, you guys sure are coming out in force asking for them! Maybe Anet will notice.

If you claim something then it’s BG that actually doesn’t play for PPT and focuses on fights/stomping. BG has the most points not from tick even though it has the least total out of the 3 servers.
this shows that bg only dares to fight 2+ vs 1. i see them hiding and waiting to jump on up level characters. they scare to fight 1 on 1. they will bring their bogus roaming party of 5 to gank individuals trying to cross the ruins or spawn areas. talk about weaklings. fight as a group. we fight your server as a group. we don’t pick on just 1 player. we pick on your entire server. we can dominate on fair fights. we don’t do group vs solo kills.

As a veteran Blackgate player I must say my server is just not skilled enough to compete with JQ. We try as hard as we can, but JQ’s experience is just far too advanced for us.

Yeah, because it has nothing to do with SoR map zergs everywhere after our SEA domination. Particularly a floating TW one… hmm, y’know, I even saw that same one at EU time. That same one that sometimes plays all the way through oceanic. I wonder what would happen if TW left SoR? One could only imagine. You may sit down now.
I think this is not a very helpful decision. The match-up sub-forum had a lot of traffic from the WvW community and, for a significant amount of people, provided some of the entertainment involved with WvW. Having match-up threads where servers and guilds could converse in competitive manners brought more life to the game than you would think.
Sure people get angry, but doesn’t that come with any type of competitive gaming? This including any type of game, even offline (football, baseball, etc). It adds a hype that we can’t get in-game due to obviously not being able to talk at large with opposing servers and guilds. As the game progresses in age, you want to avoid any decisions that may dull the competitive game-play since most of us have been here for a long time and we need to stay interested.
I understand that your forum has it’s code of conduct and the match-up threads can get fiery, but your moderators do clean it up pretty efficiently. As for how you state that they spend too much time doing this, I think that just goes to show how much your player-base is involved competitively with each other. This just means that your game is alive and kicking.
To be honest, I’m pretty frustrated and soon to be done with this server.
There is no ‘current JQ’, everyone just does their own thing and no one wants to work together. It’s getting old and tiresome.
Waha and ATM’s BS is the the final straw I feel, not just for myself but for a lot of guilds on JQ. Lot of people disagreed with him because trying to break a server is lame first of all as this is just a game(why would you want to do that, it’s malicious and petty) and also it was destroying us in the other timezone because all our SEA would do is focus SoR and it would leave us exposed everywhere else because he would sacrifice everything we owned just to flip SoR’s stuff past 3 weeks. And that’s not even including the countless times he would let BG take our garrison in home BL and hillside in BG while going after SoR garrison.
I don’t know who from SoR kitten ed in Waha’s cheerios but you made him go from an intelligent strategic commander to a hate ridden commander hell bent on destroying SoR while destroying his own server. Congrats, you’re an idiot too.

No matter what your SEA takes or defends, it will be lost in EU. Because you have no EU. Just because you aren’t winning the tier with ease now doesn’t mean your SEA still isn’t packing a punch.

It actually seemed to be happening a couple of times but every time we took Jerrifers then went to bang on the Keep, the JQ commander hit Durios, 3 different times. Anyhoo, my point is, 2v1s are going to happen, but not all the time, and they tend to be isolated to certain time zones on certain maps and on certain days depending on many factors. As others said earlier, BG dealt with a 2v1 every single night in EBG a couple of weeks ago. The TSYM commanders love to initiate it on EBG when they smell weakness, and many on JQ love to kill BG (SF and SG in particular – still, much love guys), so there it is.
Cry all you want but the fact remains that we’re all going to get 2v1’d at certain times, and it’s best to just try to deal with it as best you can and wait for it to pass. This goes for my team as well.
I cannot speak for the N/A but during SEA/Oceanic there was a coordinated and not spontaneous 2v1 effort from both BG/JQ which would be fair game if we had the numbers for it. In the end it’s beneficial for SoR as you help us with recruitment advertizing. We need to learn, adapt and recruit during those times to make the game more competitive.
Personally, I think this is good for the server because it will sort or assimilate some of the fair weather players which inherently come with the #1 spot and make room for some wvw organized guilds that love a challenge.
Anyhow, I want to thank you JQ and BG for the good fights and the win this week.!

What this match-up needs is a third server with near equal coverage as the other two who can hold their own ground. That is what can make this 3-way match-up more competitive. And yes, JQ has this potential. They are the ones who should recruit. Not SoR.

Why the BG/JQ/SoR thread was just closed is beyond me. With full respect, I think your moderators are creating more of an “issue” with the threads than there really is. My post three posts above this one goes further into detail than this one, but I’d like to say again that these match-up threads should be open to competitive conversations that are not moderated in such a strict manner as other sections of the forum.
It’s obvious that your code of conduct will become strenuous for moderators in environments where there is competitive talk between opposing servers. That doesn’t mean that they need to be shut down… just simply moderated with slightly different codes of conduct.
Edit: Like that guy from SoR SEA just said, JQ doesn’t pvdoor them. By saying JQ pvdoor’s, you’re basically saying that your SEA guilds are non-existent.
JQ’s 80-100 vs 20-40 isn’t PvDoor but it isn’t far off. Then throw in a second huge BG zerg when required and you see how silly the numbers get.

The WvW political climate has switched, JQ SEA focuses SoR now because of IRON trolls and other antics from SoR.
JQ and SoR did support one another at this time, but it is gone.

According to Waha, there is no other better/stronger guilds better than MERC from BG( well, I am guessing he is talking about MERC’s SEA force). They are much stronger than ATM in terms of coverage and size. He mentioned a few times he wont be happy to see if MERC left from BG and he believe the match-up will be too bored. Waha/ATM respect them hard and Waha doesnt give kitten to IRON at all.
Oh by the way, ‘IRON you messed up everything.’- this word isn’t from me, I am just a minion of ATM, I heard it from lots lots and lots other JQers, including Waha ATM.
The amusing part of that statement is most of SEA, ATM and MERC spend most of it avoiding each other.
Our SEA has focused SoR for a total of 2 weeks, please ask BG how many times our SEA was all over them. I am not here to argue but come on now, your judging everything based on 2 weeks.

i agree jq needs the help more then any other t1 server. That said JQ only hurt themselves this week, that post in the recruitment thread by one of ur own OUCH!
either way this is the closes t1 has EVER been, most of the time 1st to 3rd is a gap of like 60k-100k somtimes more. this week it was wut 30k till last night where it went up to 40k
Yeah, I agree. It was a great match-up. Which is precisely why anyone who thinks BG or SoR needs to recruit really just needs to stop and think a moment. Will you be having fun if you have no chance of losing due to sturdy 24/7 coverage? If you are a hardcore wvw player, then you will enjoy the challenge of a close match-up. Don’t spoil it.
From what I’ve seen tonight on the field, yes [ACO] and [WARD] transferred to SoR. Beyond the “Way to screw the Tier further!” aspect of it, I’m irked that two specific people would leave us on JQ. It’s like family stabbing you in the back.

Well, that absolutely is a pain in the kitten for JQ. Also, I’ve managed to read Waha’s statement on that Chinese forum that was mentioned earlier (thanks to the guy who sent me the link – you know who you are), and that cynicism alluded to is present. This does not bode well, in my book.
I absolutely hope that someone – or a group of people – in JQ is stepping up to rein in the situation before it affects the server beyond repair. I’ve just received more information about at least two other guilds from JQ considering a move to TC/BG (no names until I get more proof), so all I can say is this:

Yes they do, as do we on every map that MERC isn’t on during Oceanic, yesterday we were “Outnumbered” on BG BL with MERC on map till SoR’s NA logged out.
They are ticking 300 because they’ve logged from EU to NA held their T3 objectives meaning they can go on the offensive. It stays at 300 ppt because HiRE, TW et al can waypoint into a t3 keep or continue to push a map zerg onto our paper keeps in our home bl / 1/2 offensive bls (usually) that is why it stays at 300 ppt, numbers isn’t everything in WvW, SoR can survive its apparently “weak” timezones due to having t3 with map zergs inside, but if you look at ppt today for example, SoR’s NA pushed into oceanic and held 300-400 ppt. SEA rocks round we flip all their wps and bring them down to 95 ppt but that doesn’t last long as we spent all sea getting them there then bang, EU hits our SEA logs out SoR’s ppt goes back to 250+ and BG+JQ do not have the forces to keep pressure up that SoR has through KISS, IRON, LUN, TW and their massive EST NA presence so that our BG PST logs in after 4-6 hours of SoR being able to t3 their bl and thirds ready for NA.
Also our NA fights bloody hard anyone calling them weak, I’d love to see you push back from SoR’s EU/EST domination on days that HB/RK do not raid, SoR can’t deny that from EST NA they have all their maps covered. BT is our only 100% EST NA guild.
SoR’s just jelly cuz MERC isn’t on their server :P

Even after 3 yes votes, not moving. I feel like I came back bought HoT on 3 accounts, gliders and such to update it. Just getting back into WvW … feeling excited and pumped about this game again. Seeing the results all week up above the threshold … wanting to support the company again (already spent over $300 in 3 months across my 3 accounts).
Now looking at the glaring 74.9% knowing this would result in 3 month rotations of maps versus providing players the ability to chose the maps they want to play … not even worth it. There was people actively in WvW maps encouraging the votes for simultaneous borderlands … and others on comms saying they already on comms backing there votes for it. And now – end of week … it’s going to fail? When does it close tomorrow?
Well … kitten. Faith in things sometimes lead us to make stupid choices. I’ve had faith in Anet since GW1 bwe’s … I’m getting the sinking feeling I made a poor decision. I hate making poor decisions.
So, how did Anet fail you? ANet gave the community as a whole the opportunity to let their voices be heard and provide a change based on the majority of opinions. That sounds like a positive aspect in a company… not a negative one. Expecting more than that is a bit far-fetched.
Volkon, I’m thinking this update was more focused on the small teams. This way, they can have 30 more seconds before a zerg might notice what they’re doing…
I hope a lot of guilds realize that with all these people in WvW who don’t normally play WvW, that this is a great opportunity for guilds who need more numbers to try to recruit!
FYI even superior rams dont work on walls SoR, so the one you built on ANZ wall would have been useless :P
We have a troll spam dropping and building all sorts of useless siege.
I don’t know if this was him but don’t be surprised if you see obviously wrong siege placed (and unfortunately built by people not looking).
BG has a troll as well. Except our troll has a commander tag and follows our commanders around and drops paper ballistas at every moment that we stop moving or try to siege something.
Oh is THAT what that was? We saw some random ballistas on BGBL earlier, and were quite puzzled. They were kind of at the shore line near BG garry. We just shrugged and killed em.
Yep if we stop he drops them and drops more as long as pugs build them, he drops 3-6 on every supply camp we take stopping us from supplying up/waste pug supply. He drops 8 sites on every flame ram/gate/catapult/trebuchet. He wastes keep supply by surrounding the supply depot with ballistas.
On top of all this he has been offensive in chat as well as spamming map chat. All of that and he is still plaguing us, very disappointing.

So, to SoR and JQ… when you see random ballistas built everywhere… look for a BG commander with a [BALL] guild tag and kill him for us. Lol.
Just remember that this new system will change every servers rating every match-up, so the old tiers don’t matter anymore. It doesn’t matter if you’re fighting again because it can’t be the same thing every week.
I like how BG complains about PvD considering PvD is the only reason why they are here.
In fact, every server in this matchup…in this entire game for that matter, has PvD’d
Every server in T1 has PvD to get to where they are
BG and their ~10 weeks straight of PvD against SoR in T2
JQ and their ~7? weeks straight of PvD against SoR, BG, SoS in T1
SoR and their PvD during Euro timeslot for ~6? weeks
Every server in T1 PvDs daily
SoR – Euro
BG – Oceanic
JQ – Sea
Nobody here. Not JQ, not SoR, not BG has legitimate PvD complaints. We’ve all done it and we all know it. This is the state of T1. There’s no real timezone outside of NA where everyone can get together and actually compete. It’s more like timezone X logs on, ticks at 400ppt, logs off just in time for the enemy to log on and tick at 400ppt.
And for what it’s worth, don’t take this as a “trolling” attempt but there isn’t a timezone out there where BG is in last place in terms of coverage. You guys still have the second strongest EU, NA, and SEA, and the strongest OCEANIC and are able to maintain at least your shard during all timezones outside EU…most of the time
This post bothers me because I feel like you must have not stayed up into oceanic/SEA lately. JQ can’t pvd during SEA anymore because now we have plenty of resistance in that time zone. I mean plenty.
Then, BG can’t pvd during oceanic because they have their hands full with HIRE and late night NA float teams, and then just a couple hours later they have us to deal with in SEA. The two time zones are basically the same, give or take 2 or 3 hours.
Spending 6 hours assaulting one keep (going from mid SEA to mid EU where we lost numbers because we can’t all stay up to mid EU), getting wiped repeatably (IRON leaving the map to farm PuGs in EB), using 12 omega golems while blobbing it up only to lose the keep again 4 minutes later when the buff came down is sure a way of “farming our terrible SEA”. SoR had a worse than usual ppt because of your raid, and it was only a T2 keep that we consider to be a bonus to ppt and not one of our key holdings. Nice to know FEAR is classy as ever.
Don’t see why anyone needs to be classy to MERC when MERC isn’t classy Anyway. We should all just be unclassy.
Who says MERC isn’t classy? Doesn’t everyone have a couple forum warriors? Who cares if one or two MERCs engage in forum talk. We are enemies in the game, after all.
A guild that talks about others being unclassy should look at people in their own guilds that are unclassy and deal with them before talking about other guilds being unclassy. It’s just extremely ironic.
Just because you don’t like some of them doesn’t make them unclassy. MERC is a very respectable guild. I don’t care what your opinions of one or two people are.
