I looked over the new stuff for Warriors. I couldn’t believe what I read. The Trait “Inspiring Banners” is completely gone. It was a trait that recharged all banners 20% faster, and gave them a 50% radius increase. Now it’s just not there anymore. It’s not even given to Warriors as a baseline thing now. Why was this removed? I actually built myself for using banners, and now I’ll have to have their recharge time take longer, and their radius be small again?
Having the same issue, this is nearly my exact situation exactly. Anyone know what’s going on?

This worked for me:
Find your hosts file here: C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts
Copy/paste the hosts file to your desktop.
Rename the file so it becomes “hosts.txt”
Now open the file with notepad. (you need to run as admin if you have that option)
Add this line at the bottom:
174.35.56.164 assetcdn.101.arenanetworks.com
Save the file.
Now rename the file again to delete the .txt so it has no file extension anymore and is just “hosts” again.
Now go replace your old hosts file with this new edited one on your desktop.
If you have the GW2 launcher already open, restart it.
This was someone else’s fix, but it worked for me when the Google DNS didn’t work right away.
This works, can confirm, JUST did this. I personally renamed the old host to host.old as a backup, but I did everything else, worked fine, updated properly.
A slightly more difficult open world content? Outrageous. ;D
OMG it might be a good idea to actually wear…toughness gear…or…Vitality…. The Six Forbid.
Or you know, not be forced to wear gear that doesn’t fit how you’re building yourself? Hmmmm… I wondeeerrr.. I thought ANET said “Play the game how you want”. Not “Play the game how WE want or anyone ELSE wants”.
You’re really going to complain about adding 1 or 2 pieces of gear to help yourself survive?
They also said the enemies would be EASIER to deal with.. as in, not take as long to kill… stated on the forums by a Dev… I love how you’re basically telling me I should give up how I wish to play my character, and ignoring the fact that we were told one thing, and now, they just stopped caring or telling the truth.

We were told that level 79 and lower enemies would be made easier to handle, due to the fact that we’re not getting trait points till much later, and they’d be balancing the enemies so we wouldn’t even notice a lack of those trait points until much later. I went on a low level character, fighting enemies, I have no trait points on them… and they were even harder to fight.. they seemed to take far longer to take down, and hit MUCH harder than they used to. Were we lied to about this? Does ANet even actually care?
While I agree some with Xenon, one thing worries me. You get your FIRST Point, which is worth 5 at 30… cool… what about the fact that, 11 to 20 gave you points to put in, that increased stats, and made leveling easier at those levels? We’ll be weaker before then, working on base attacks and base skills at best, with nothing to really begin supping up our builds…. I like most of the ideas with this update, EXCEPT forcing people to now wait to 30 before seeing any changes, THEN at 36, finally having a Tier 1 ability?.. come on…This will cripple people leveling. Ok, maybe not CRIPPLE but, it’ll hurt, that’s for sure… I know by level 20, I like having my first trait and 5point trait in already to help me along my path.
No, praise Josh Davis.
How is it bad for p/p? wouldn’t the vulnerability and immobilize help with landing unload? and how would an added benefit make it more worthless Paw? The vulnerability is staying you know.
This is true, but it’s only half the vulnerability as before, it’s 5 stacks compared to 10, though honestly that doesn’t bother me TOO much.. it’s the extra point of Initiative that gets me a little bit… Mind you just a little… I don’t know how to feel about it till after I play test it some.
I think what it boils down to is ANet doesn’t actually care about their players. They don’t truly listen, and they believe changes they think balance or make the game “More fun” only upset the players who were already having fun, the Quickness mechanic for example. I’ve been disliking my thief more and more with time, and now? It’s Laziness. They’ve said in one of their videos they want to keep PVE/PVP skills and powers the same, so it’s “more familiar to players” But they’ve also said “Easier to work with the templates.” …… So rather than putting in the extra work to keep them separated, they just over all nerf the class in this manner. And several others for that matter.
Whoa, so no one knows anything at all…?
Did the Clean Boot, Ran the repair, thought it was going well…. Crashed again, same file too. I did the Clean Boot properly as well, followed all the instructions. My Memory is fine, 16 Passes over night, zero errors… No idea what to do…
I suspect program interference causing corruption while in memory. Check your AV package by disabling it during repair and play. Also check for 3rd party “game booster” apps or motherboard “utility” apps as many of these are known to cause issues such as this (ie Precision X software = known game crasher/corrupter).
Best way to check this is with a “clean boot” procedure and repairing/ running GW2 under clean boot a couple of times.
I’ll look into it. I know My AV doesn’t often mess with anything, I have no game boosters on my machine. But thank you for the advice.
As for the Memory test? I ran the tester again tonight, 8 passes, which add to the 6 last night, all clean, 0 errors. I know my memory is strong and solid. But thanks, I’ll try the repair under cleanboot, could be the issue..
Memory is fine, all tests came back fine… It’s so not my memory… Trust me, I thought of that first and foremost.
Edit: Also, I have other files, other games AND other programs that use compressed Files… I’ve never had any issue with any of them, either, including Jar files which also use tight compression.

So I looked through and found few Crash topics on here, one has the same crash I’m getting… the one where it found an error and needs to close.. I went into ArenaNet.log and all the errors were from
Assertion: A file was corrupted in the archive. Please run once with ‘-repair’!
File: ..\..\..\Game\Main\MainCli.cpp(589)
ALL The Crashes… Here’s the thing, some people said hey… Run the repair.. I can run it 5 times in a row and EACH time it’s repairing something, the same file… Then it still Crashes… So what did I finally do? reinstalled.
a Total clean reinstall/redownload of all the files, and to be safe, ran the repair right after… STILL, Crashing, still the Mainchi.cpp…
What do I do? I need help, please, someone, anyone, Devs…. help…
I tried running the game as Admin, and Not as Admin, same issue… I’m up to Date on all windows updates, I run windows 7 64 bit Pro. I have the latest drivers, and I’ve tried older drivers too, 11 of them to be exact, updated sound drivers, still, the same result. This is the ONLY game giving me issues, and boy do I have a lot of games on this system….
Short answer: ppl qq about OP thief, doesn’t matter which skill we are talking about.
Long answer: I’m sure someone more mathematical than me will give a very detailed explanation of why they nerfed Dancing Dagger. Bottom line is it probably has to do with “balancing PvP.”
Well like I’ve said in my last post, then it could have been nerfed for PVP only. I saw a FEW Skills that were nerfed for PVP only for the other professions. PVE, it was hardly over powered, in fact it fit in line with the damage of the other abilities. There are a few abilities from other classes, that do nearly the same thing now, the 50% cripple speed, and do more damage on multiple targets…. so now I feel almost as if I need to switch weapons…
Am I the only person rather upset, that dancing dagger now feels extremely weak and no longer feels like it does any real damage at all? I have no idea why it was reduced by 50%… There had been nothing wrong with it. If it was a matter of PVP, it could have been nerfed only for that, like I noticed a lot of other powers were.
