Wait a second, how did you manage to get this far while maintaining a 75h work per week schedule? I mean, I have a 60h work per week schedule and needed two years for accomplishing that.

BTT: What the other people have said. This game is not about treadmill, about reaching levels beyond the top by pushing the stats. It’s about having fun. Simple as that. If you are able to rush this and need a carrot in order to push your own equipment as the prime target, maybe, and I’m not mean by saying this, it’s not the right game in the long run for you. If you want to work for something, try to speed clear raids even better, gather all the collectibles, unlock all the skins! If a carrot is necessary it’s possible that the way you work towards progress isn’t fun enough in the first place.

The real reason for all of our PvP issues

Every known game for competitive pvp gets regular patches every 2 weeks in average, so that makes sense in the end.

Problem is in this regard, that even if we would get more frequent patches, I suppose the balance team still finds potential in order to make it even worse. Currently the state of this mode is unenjoyable for me. Too much invulnerabilities and blocks, too much AoE spam and way too much conditions at the same time. One bad cleanse or stunbreak and you receive 10 stacks of burn, 10 stacks of torment, some slow to spice it up combined with a shackle and you can only watch yourself melting while being unable to move.

I mean, of course there’s counterplay for that. But it’s just not fun anymore.

A Revenenat without bugs – that would be a pretty decent starting point.

Who hates this game now because of HoT?

Voraxas.2391

Got to admit, “hate” is a term, that doesn’t fit in this case in my opinion. Way too heavy. But “dislike”, yes, I pretty much dislike this expansion for several reasons.

Apparently I’ve been stupid enough to throw 100€ at Arenanet in order to get an expansion, that makes me quit a few weeks later after a lot of years of playing Guild Wars. Which is sad. And a bit frustrating.

First let’s take a look on what type of player I really am. I’m a mid 20 guy with a full-time job, I study, I do sports regularly, have a girlfriend and a music project (second girlfriend) as well. So my time schedule is extremely unpredictable, so …

… raiding is pretty much nothing I can take care of. Pugging has always been a high risk factor due to the meta driven toxic playerbase. Dungeons and Fractals provided much more freedom. I could gather some friends for them almost all the time, try hilarious builds, theory crafting a bit and that’s it. Of course, after the years that content gets pretty much boring. Every content gets boring after rushing it year after year. Are new Dungeons added? No, their rewards are gutted so no one wants to do them anymore. Are new Fractals added? No, they are not. No need to stay here, doing the same content after three years is not what I call “fun”.

What has been the most interesting part of this game? PvP and WvW, right. Did theory crafting for both modes and I enjoyed it. Haven’t been bad either. Constructed several builds for all classes until they finally worked out well. Right now the PvP-meta is a total power creep without any tactic involved, thanks to the imbalance of the classes. Most of the PvE-players complain about Anet balancing on base on PvP, so they never achieve balance in PvE and I understand that. Fun fact: This company balances on base on PvP and even that is a complete mess right now. So, what about WvW? Well, because of the new map we, Elona Reach, don’t have any enemies anymore. Only a handful of servers are left, who care about the borderlands. Most of them seemed to abandon them. At the moment I don’t enjoy this particular game mode either.

The visuals and the design of the new maps are simply gorgeous, great job on that aspect. I even like TD. But the mob density is a bit overtuned in my opinion. These mobs aren’t even more challenging, they are more annoying. Very important difference! The raid is more challenging, yes. The mobs on the new maps aren’t. They’re just there to slow you down, to annoy you to oblivion, it seems.

Story, no big comment on that topic. Better than the last half of the base story, but still horribly executed.

So after all, what’s left for me? New maps with boring metas on timers I cannot stick to due to my unpredictable time schedule. Achievements I don’t care about, because they don’t add anything to the gameplay besides adding some points to an irrelevant number in your ingame profile. I just want to play a game due to the fact that the gameplay is fun. Not due to collections with skins as a reward, that are not even interesting for me. If HoT even has any skins.

Is WvW losing more players?

As a long time WvW - player of Elona Reach I can tell you, that - for some reason - most of the guilds seem to love the new borderlands. Their* manpower hasn’t changed since HoT. And as you can tell by the help of the statistic, they went from silver to almost no.1 in no time. Solve the equation.

* "their" and not "our" due to the aspect, that I threw 100€ at Anet only for forcing me to quit the game I’ve loved for years a few weeks later.

Maybe Mordremoth won.

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Voraxas.2391

You’re right in that aspect. Actually Mordremoth has won the war in that regard, that I’ve surrendered after almost five – six years of Guild Wars due to playing HoT for couple of weeks. Fortunately RNGeesus has been with me and protected me from the bugs Mordy is plagued, so I was able to down him on the first try. But still, “he” downed me a few weeks later.

If you change your game into a generic raid oriented game, you receive a toxic community in return. I don’t want to play in a toxic environment. Apparently it’s the same reason I quit games like DotA as well.

Actually I pretty much dislike Vamp runes in general. While playing Thief and Ele with this, it killed me several times. Wanted to disengage, dropped below the threshold, couldn’t use any skills, got vaporized afterwards.

[Suggestion]:Return best burn to Ele/Tempest

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Voraxas.2391

In every single game mode we see at least one very strong build for the elementalist, that is part of the actual meta. Even without icebow, his dps is superior. For PvE the ele is one of the few classes, that stands on top, untouched. PvP-wise the survivability is already extremely high while constantly stacking heavy amount of burning.

So you want to give him even more burning? I refuse.

Have you even played the beta? Berserker performs not as strong as against these helpless golems.

NPE Feedback [Merged] - Please read 1st post

Voraxas.2391

Almost a year ago the NPE has been implemented – and I still don’t get, how it is supposed to be useful for new players.

To be more precise: If I would be a new potential player who just got informed about the f2p-model and decided to give it a try – I would delete it after the first few levels. It feels extremely generic and disposable. As soon as I start a new game, I want to be involved in a journey. In something remarkable. Instead you will be confronted with level grind until the story starts. A friend of mine has been repeled by this recently.

You don’t want to do the dailies? Well, then don’t do them. The only things you’ll miss are 10 totally worthless Achievement Points.

And in the case these totally worthless Achievement Points are so relevant, that this “issue” is in need of an own thread again, open the list of custom arenas, join one short round for rank farm Skyhammer and your problem is solved after ~10min.

According to another thread about how progression of Revenant (or any other char created as Beta char in Beta slot for Pre-Purchased HoT) during BETA Weekend Event (BWE) [10. July to 13. July] will work: you will loose all progression when this event will be finished, so it won’t be of any use to use Scrolls at this moment for fast levelling (better to save those Scrolls for a later time when Revenant and HoT are ready for public release).

Isn’t it already datamined, that you receive a level 80 Revenant instantaneously with some basic equipment to start with?

Voraxas.2391

Most of the classes, Revenant seems to be included, are easy enough to learn at 80. There’s not much to learn, the curve is pretty flat in this game, so that shouldn’t be the problem.

And of course by using the tomes you avoid playing through the New Player Experience. Goal No.1 in my opinion while leveling a character. Even new players I’ve shown GW2 really disliked the NPE in every way possible. Feels like an Asia Grinder, and that’s not how you want to experience this game.

The point has been: Stacking might and other buffs went through the roof because the limitation of each buff has bugged. Means, using might stack of one player increased the might of a ton of player, and not just five.

That has been fixed today.

Voraxas.2391

This is the exact type of player the NPE was originally made for. “I don’t see big red glowing warning symbols, so it must mean, that I cannot lose anything.”

After the first attempt you should have recognized, that you can start lose money and there is no safe chance to get it back. But you’ve continued. Starting with the biggest package possible and sticking to it while complaining is everything but smart. That’s why you can test with smaller amounts of gold and ectos.

You aren’t disappointed about Anet. You seem to be disappointed about yourself and now you start to pin the blame on Anet right after you flushed your ectos through the casino, that’s clearly described as a a gambling machine.

And all the corrupted sylvari had red eyes (as far as I could see). Faolain didn’t. Which means Mordy didn’t corrupt the Nightmare Court. He allowed them to keep their free will as long as they do what they do in his name now.

As I remember her eyes have been slightly narrowed so it’s difficult to point out the color, but it seemed pretty red for me. Made a screen of it.
