atiumdag.dll seems to be the source here, seems to be a lot of it around the net. I’ve tried a few fixes but nothing works.

Windows 10
16GB DDR3 RAM
1TB HDD
Radeon R9 270x

Troubleshooting I’ve done:
Attempted both normal and beta drivers, and even older drivers for my video card
updated all drivers on my machine
reinstalled the game (twice)

I’ve looked around and it seems a lot of people are having this issue with the atiumdag.dll.

I might have missed a fix? but I didn’t spot anything.

That’s the problem though Astral, I don’t have hundreds of thousands of gold to just chuck around for investments like that. I don’t get to play that much anymore and when I do, I try to cover a good bit of story content, wether personal or living story. I don’t have days on end to farm events and the likes to get that kind of scratch. That’s why Gems being a convertible currency is really nice for me, if there’s something in game I don’t have the time to farm the gold for, then I can just buy it with real money. The flip side is the same for those who have time but not money, you can farm for days to get gems to purchase things in the gem store, it’s a brilliant system really.

Living Story is the expansion man, so many people just can’t seem to grasp that what they’re griping about no content, that’s what the living story is doing. As far as it “only going so far”, it can go as far an expansion would go, both of these things add content to the game, just in different ways.

Right now I’m enjoying the Tower of Nightmares and trying to get the achievements for it, if you can’t enjoy that then it’s not a.net’s fault. It’s your own jaded view on the game that’s hindering your capacity for fun.

I personally pay for gems, I’ve never converted gold to gems. I have done gems to gold though ;P Although I wish I had cashed in on the “pre-launch” gem prices, 100 gems for 33 silver, I thought that was expensive, wow am I dumb. I could have been rich!

I really don’t want to see expansions, especially when Arena.net is giving us free content updates. We also don’t need Elonia or Cantha right away, no one realizes just how big the Prophecies map really is! and it’s only bigger since GW1 in the GW2 engine. I can’t believe people are so brain washed to think that the only thing that can get them content updates are expansions, if you really want expansions, go play WoW! They will be more than happy to take your money!

There is so much untapped lore still lingering around tyria that it’s mind boggling, and a lot of people don’t realize this. Mostly the “new to guild wars” players, but even some of the ones who have played gw1 don’t know about all the back story from the novels and random bits from GW1. Example; Did you know that the Charr originally “owned” ascalon and the humans drove them out?

The living story not only let’s them give us free content, but it will keep letting them get more and more lore out of the game over an indefinite amount of time without being pressured to release some massive, mind blowing expansion. Not to mention a real expansion would break more than it would fix, think about it ,what does an expansion add? Story content of course, but then there are usually; new skills, new classes, new races, new armors/weapons. There would be so much unbalance in a game that is already still trying to balance itself. Living Story is JUST story content, and I honestly prefer that as opposed to a load of new shinies.

Sounds like there might be an issue with GW2.exe handling SSD hardware. I would file a ticket, it usually takes a long time for them to respond to threads, if at all. Not to mention they now have their hands full with their last patch breaking dungeons all together :P

I suppose in the grand scheme of things a new race wouldn’t really add anything, but it would be a nice “cosmetic” and open up new territory for content. There is some lore, with the Tengu at least, from GW1 that they could tap into and expand upon.

@Daimasei

I definitely agree that the minions for the necromancer in GW2 are underwhelming, they could use a bit of tweaking but even still I find them useful, but maybe that’s just me. I definitely don’t think the SoS Ritualist should be brought into the game, that would literally break the game as it did for GW1, they could solo kitten near everything. I said that they would need re-worked for GW2 as well, as I’m guessing you missed in my OP.

I also think more content for WvW would respark that mode, as it feels a bit…dead to me, perhaps it’s just my server rotation though. That’s a good point to make about that aspect of the game. sPvP is also iffy to me, there needs to be a change to it some where, as it’s definitely not nearly as enjoyable as it was in GW1.

I was just rolling some stuff around and thought of a few things that could potentially be interesting additions to the game.

A new race?
There are currently Skritt, Hylek, Quaggan and Tengu already in the game, will these ever get into the game as playable races? Personally, as a long time guild wars player, I think I’d like to see Tengu added as a playable race, second to Charr of course but they’re already in. Tengu also have been kind of an already in demand race from a smaller population of the game, but there was interest none the less.

New regions?
I know they are adding a good deal of content and while new areas like south sun are nice, I’d like to see some “old” new regions. Crystal Desert, Far Shiverpeaks, Elonia or Cantha even. I would assume Elonia or Cantha would call for either an expansion or a HUGE patch update but I think these areas should be re-visited at some point in the game’s career.

A new class?
This one is a bit tougher than the others by far, what could be added to the game that isn’t already done or covered at least by another class? It would be rather nice to see an old expansion class return to favor, although quite a few of them would definitely have to be re-worked to fit the new mechanics for sure, just like the rest of the classes.
Personally, I’d like to see Dervish or Ritualist return some how.

What do you guys think, and I’d definitely love to hear some insight from A.net staff!

Guardians aren’t the only class that can solo the game, it was just an example. Although I personally feel they have a much easier time with it than others.

I have tried WvW, it’s quite dead a majority of the time for me it seems, I will wait for the next rotation to try it again though. sPvP… meh, I tried it once and a necromancer 1 v 5’d my team and won the game for them. We just couldn’t bring it down =/

I guess I could be burned out, but I’m not 100% on that, I still -really- want to play the game. I feel like I’m more frustrated that I can’t do MORE of the content because I don’t really have anyone to play with. Most of the friends that bought the game with me have quit due to no content to do at the time of release (they didn’t give any chance for content through updates.) and now they out right refuse to even log back in. The one friend that does still play has an incredibly demanding job it seems and only gets on for a few hours a week. So all in all I don’t think it’s an issue with being burned out, or I wouldn’t want to play at all.

I have a ranger I’ve been working on, I’m at lvl 78 with him, and I can say by far the ranger is very much more capable of soloing content then the warrior, simply because of pet cycling = OP.

I can agree with that chemiclord, it really isn’t “korean”, but it is still quite boring.

That was a lot of reading o-0;
So much hate :P

I’d like to start off by saying that I have played korean grinders; Ragnarok Online, Lineage 2, Silkroad Online, etc.. and in each of those games I have at least made 1 maxed out character.

Anyway, I say korean grinder because, while the actual “grinding” time isn’t nearly as long, as I said before and which was so conveniently cut out of people’s arguments, the process is there. It’s just doing one thing, over, and over, and over. So much content is just ignored because only certain one’s are really worth while.

I am unfortunately not a guardian, so I cannot just solo everything, I’m a naive fool and picked a class I thought was cool for my own personal taste, the warrior. I would have to buy all new gear and spend loads of gold in order to get my warrior set up to the point where he can do these things solo, but not as is. I actually went with something I thought I would thoroughly enjoy, instead of what I thought would completely dominate the game, and that seems to be a misguided choice. Misguided because as I am, I am uncapable of soloing content that needs to be solo’d, on an MMO which is the irony here, and unless I completely reroll the OP Guardian or rework my warrior into something that is solo capable (which is going to require way too much time and effort imo), I’m stuck relying on a community that has no interest in the majority of the game’s content, when I do. I’ve LFG’d, I’ve asked in Lion’s Arch, etc… Not enough people want to do a majority of the content for me to form a group that is capable of doing this content. They all just want to farm X event(s) in X map. As I said before, it’s always the same events for said map, never straying from the standard chains. (e.g. the queensdale boss chain, or the karka queen.)

I personally was very interested in the South Sun content, it seemed very interesting, but I could never fully appreciate it because I can’t solo the game. Again, my warrior isn’t built for solo god mode, but group DPS (‘zerk warrior, don’t be hatin’). It seems if I want to play the game according to some on this post, I have 2 options; Play a guardian, or re-make my warrior from the ground up with solo play in mind. On an MMO, solo play seems like a sin, especially in a game that the developers intended and promote group play tremendously.

If I didn’t cover something you argued, you probably quoted my tl;dr comment, in which case if you don’t have enough time to read my post, same to you.

edit That’s something else that bothers me, don’t quote me with an argument attached, but only quote half the kitten sentence, that’s some fox news crap.

I’m a pre-order, I loved Guild Wars 1 (having played since the very beginning, open beta I believe even, all the way to EOTN expansion). I purchased GW2, and it was… different, as expected from the claims of “changing the MMO” as a.net put it, but…

Don’t get me wrong, I love the game, but the state it is in right now just feels like any other MMO out there. While the trinity is more or less gone in place for “team work”, the repetitiveness is still there. Let me elaborate a bit more on this, there is still a lot of content I have not touched…but cannot at the same time; The community seems to have taken to just “farming” events. At any given time of logging into the game, I can garuntee one thing: There is a “train” in queensdale, with loads of people farming the bosses. I can even give the exact order and which bosses are done! Boar > Oak > Troll > Bandit > Spider > (some times wasp queen if available) > Boar and just repeat. This isn’t the only instance either, there are many areas throughout the game that are -heavily- infested with players doing just one event or chain of events. There are so many things in the game I have yet to accomplish because I cannot seem to gather a group to do them, and when I do manage to gather a group together, they are either too inexperienced or just incompetent to complete them. I am not getting on a perch here, I am not the best gamer ever, but some times I feel as though some people are just unable to learn from mistakes without excessive repetition in failure.

World events that I want to participate in, that cannot be done due to absolutely no interest in doing them from the community. Example: I decided to venture back to Southsun, my first time since the initial release and before it’s additions. I get there, ask what there is to do and get answered with a waypoint link and “Queen up, come now”. There is a huge mob fighting the karka queen, and it’s a crazy fight, i get downed multiple times, revived and it’s just a blast! but then everyone maps away, walks away, and just generally leaves from my sight. I explore and find some events, only to learn that they are nearly impossible to solo, if not completely. The scaling doesn’t go down to just 1 player apparently… I ask for help… no responses at all. I finally give up in doing the few events I try and immediately as I go to leave for lion’s arch i hear “queen up”, so I go back and BAM 40+ players. Are these bots? or is it just the only worth while event in the map? All I am aware of is that nothing else is “do-able” due to not having any one in the entire map to help at all.

As I’ve stated before, this branches to nearly all ranges of the game, from low level to 80 content. I’m finally aware of why I have “instant level 20” tickets for new characters, there aren’t enough players to do low level content, and if they are, they are all farming one event or chain of events in the given maps.

All in all, the game has become just like any other korean grinder out there, albeit not nearly as lengthy, but the process is just the same: Find best reward quests (bonus points for repetitive quests) and just grind them till max lvl and/or currency. The only real differences are; No healers, no limit to how many people can do them or the need to any partying. Which enables this mobbing technique this much more.

tl;dr – I can’t do things because no one is doing anything passed farming one event(s).

My achievements will take eons at this rate >_>;

This will probably be flooded with “newb, loser, baddy, get friends” shortly, instead of any thoughtful criticism, that or be told to spend more money to shift to another server, which will just be the same issue, just with more players.

Guild recruitment in game

I had a random though on guild recruitment in game; What if you set up a recruitment message system that could be displayed once every x amount of minutes that gives a brief message in map chat (much like people do now) but it also gives a click-able link (which would be the guild tag) and it brings up an in game window with a description set by the guild with some info about the guild. Again, emphasis on the “cooldown” for being able to display the message, as that would be the main concern with something of this nature.

NPC Morale events

in Suggestions

Posted by: WheezerX.4367

WheezerX.4367

I wanted to suggest that you “fix” the morale events, they can fail way to easily and usually fail near the end of the event. I’m not saying it slowly degrades to a fail either, it usually goes really well through most of the event, and then near the end BAM 80% morale lost from the NPC’s and you’re left with a bunch of mobs and a wasted x amount of time. The morale event meter needs to be upped the less players that are around, it seems it doesn’t scale at all as it’s supposed to, the mobs themselves are relatively the same in number but the npc’s morale doesn’t adjust at all. So when you get to a critical point in the event with let’s say 75% morale, as soon as one NPC dies it dives almost 25%, which makes the event in-completable.

This is a really big issue for me personally and quite a few other players seemed to share my sentiments in game, I’m on a now low population server (at least it seems like it is, as there is hardly ever anyone to party with or even chat with on Orr) so this lack of scaling for the morale “gauge” is quite irritating.

[tGk] is now recruiting!

You can visit our forums at: http://thegreyknightshq.enjin.com

We’re only recruiting 18+ members who are mature and can handle some rowdy conversation and game play.

This will not be a hard core guild, it’s formed by close friends, both real life and those who have been known since the very early days of Guild Wars 1 (beta even), and we’re now looking to expand. We play casual, so it’s nothing serious, we’re just a bunch of friends who like to play the game and have fun and are seeking like minded players to expand our ranks. We enjoy helping our guild mates with difficult tasks and do frequent runs through dungeons, and a small section of the guild is very pvp oriented so there will be a lot of WvW groups forming from us.

We have guild bank and a few upgrades already completed, a ventrilo server, and some experienced players already in the guild. You can apply for a guild invite via the recruitment page on our website and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

Please be willing to represent us as well, and we hope to see you in game!

Ascalonian Catacombs - glitches

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: WheezerX.4367

WheezerX.4367

I’ve been playing through AC for a while now, and over the last few days (tonight especially) there seem to be a LOT of bugs. Some of the bugs I could list are such: in the spider queen section, I randomly teleported inside a wall while doing basic movements, it wasn’t lag as everyone in the party seen it happen; Skelk Scavengers insta-kill while not attacking, I walked passed one that was attacking another playing and went from about 90% hp to straight out dead; A player in our group performed a dodge roll while fighting Lieutenant Kholer and fell off the ledge into the water, not hitting any actual terrain, straight into the water, and instantly died (not downed, dead), and the list just goes on and on. I hope that these issues are being worked on, as they make the dungeon irritating and not fun at all. Some times the bugs are so bad they make the dungeon in-completable. Another serious bug is the Skelk Burrows, the hit box for it is conflicting with the Rush skill for warriors, and if you stand next to a wall it will push you through the wall when it is destroyed.
