Showing Posts For WickedRequiem.7613:
I have about 30 gold and about 75K karma points.
Salvaging everything and not opening bags/boxes until hitting level 80 (and selling all mined/harvested items) really paid off in the short run.
I thought the I would save karma points for the temple armor (yeah…. long way off for that 250K or so needed) and spend gold on traits + weapons (GS/Sword/Focus/Sceptor). I’ll probably “make do” with the armor I find on the field until then.
Or anyways, that was my plan.

Thanks, and sorry for the double post. I actually tried to edit the first post to include the detail about saving karma for the temple armor, and I somehow double posted instead of editing the original post. Not sure what I did wrong.
I’m going with the meta gs // s+foci 45005 build (well, I might make it 46004 if that’s possible), so it doesn’t seem too expensive (probably around 5~7 gold total?).
If it’s cheap enough, guess I’ll just buy it so I can enjoy the game instead of worrying about finding the right enemy at the right time, dungeon, etc etc.

I managed to reach level 80 with a generous help from Tomes and Writs. Now that I’m level 80, what should my priority be in spending gold?
Should I try to buy weapons?
Or should I try to buy traits?
I’m playing a guardian, and I assume that, for armor, I should just save gold/karma until I can afford the temple karma armor.

I’ve read that map completion experience rewards were level dependent. Higher the level, more experience the character gets.
But, at the same time, I’ve read that item rewards were not level dependent.
So… is it better, in your experience, to go ahead and complete the map as soon as possible to get items? Or is it worth “saving” the map completion until higher levels for more experience points?
This has happened to me twice today.
Made an Asura character, with minimum body size.
If I jump too much (not necessary in combat… it happened once during combat and once during just random goofing around), my Asura character turns invisible. The character is still there, because if I try a special action, the effect of the action appears (such as a trail of dust when during the leap attack with gs).
I’ve read in a “things I wished I knew before…” article regarding GW2 that I shouldn’t open certain boxes (Black trader boxes, champion loots, etc etc) until I’m level 80.
I’ve been saving most reward bags/boxes for leveling up/completing quests… but it’s taking up precious space in the bank/inventory.
Which items should I not open, and which boxes/bags can I open without losing anything precious?
Is it generally considered a bad idea to raise both armorsmith and weaponsmith on a same character at the same time?
I recently started a guardian (my first character…. well, technically second, because I remade the first guy from a boring race to Asura), and I thought it’d be a great idea to get armorsmith and weaponsmith as his first two crafting skills.
However, I read a bit about it, and I learned that the two craftsman skills both consume the same raw materials, and it was very difficult to raise both at the same time.
What would be a better alternative? I’ve seen Armorsmith and Jewelry?
On other sites, I’ve read that some people liked Armorsmith/Cooking for their guardians, but I want to avoid crafts that make consumables (potions, food, etc etc) as much as possible simply because I end up not using them (aka saving them up for…. well just in case)…. yeah, I’m the kind of guy who finishes a rpg with all the elixir unused in my backpack.
Wow… thanks everyone for your info and advice.
And thank you, Astral Projections, on the link to the youtube video.
I’m used to Diablo style combat system, where attacks were bound to mouse buttons.
That doesn’t seem to be the case in GW2. I’m pretty confused on how I’m supposed to fight. Do I just walk up next to enemies (using a guardian) and keep pressing “1” on the number pad to attack? It seems pretty unwieldy, and I know that just has to be a more fluid way to play this game.
Also, every time the enemy runs away, my character doesn’t chase after him. I need to walk/run after the enemy manually, and then keep pressing “1” to attack. Is there a way so my character will automatically chase after the targeted enemy and attack him?
Thank you, everyone.
What are soulbound items? Is this something I need to be worried about at level 2?
…the game told me not to delete him.
Just got the game over the weekend sale.
Made a character, and decided that I didn’t like him very much. Want to remake him, but… when I first made the character, a box popped up and told me never to delete the first character or I’ll lose rewards/items.
I haven’t opened (as far as I know) any items from the Hero pack (the legacy armor, I guess). Is there a way to transfer the rewards/items to a new character before deleting my first one? Or am I stuck with him?
Curious about this as well.
Bought the game during last week’s sales, and trying to decide whether to roll a guardian or warrior.
Was leaning heavily towards a warrior, then I visited this forum and half the post is about how warrior is terrible now. Not so much complaint on the guardian forum.
So… is warrior worthless now and not worth rolling for a new player?
Dual wield shield?
Same problem here.
I wonder if it’s due to a giant influx of new users trying to download at the same time (aka just wait until later to download)?
