Guild Wars 2

The game is old. WvW, RvR, and any game that has war going on 24/7 can not last too long. It dies for all of the reasons posted, not just one reason. Usually it is when a meta game takes over that it starts to bleed. Casuals can never just feed “Elite” players. You also can not stop a meta from forming as players find a “best” way.

This game also changed so much in two years that it is like starting a new game against vet geared players. None of my friends wished to take the time to re spec and re learn everything when last we logged on. Most had more than 2 80s. The Blob and PvE in WvW maps sucked.

So now less newbs and casuals, less returning players… Old Game, usual results.

I got to carry an Orb once!! Lol So obviously WvW wasn’t well thought out from the start, but there were a couple years of good fun! Still check in to see if anything is different.

12 toons, 4 80’s none with even 50% completion. Will never have a map completed. Was in a jumping puzzle twice and have no plans to do mario bros stuff again.

Any way to buy the game as a gift? Maybe a code for the digital download? Or would I have to look for a retail box?

Leveled up a ranger, ele, and warrior at release and a guardian to LvL 74. I thought the War was the best all around toon. I remember thinking I should have started on the war 1st!

Coming back after a 1 1/2 year break, it ranks 4th. It feels slower, and weaker in melee, though the bow seems stronger than I remember. But, I haven’t tried all weapon setups yet.

Nothing on that list other than WoW was even mildly interesting to me. Comparing Apples to Oranges it seems.

I pretty much doubt you honestly are looking for any answers to your question here, seems more like you want to vent your dislike of the game – which is fine and dandy, but your approach is neither as new nor as original as you imagine it to be.

Hard to tell. This is the first time I have been on these forums in a couple months and left game way way before that after doing 4 80s. OP got the answers many of us needed with this thread. This is the only thread I need read. Like him I may check and see what next months patch does. Or not. Not a big deal. They got my money and I got 100 hours or so of playing. One still can hope that they will improve the game.

Steel and heals. Everything else is fluff!

Great Idea. I ran 3 toons up to 80 via WvW and got my exotics. Then I decided to focus on PvE, but it was dead lands out there, so I took a break from the game.

Need more PvE server talk!

I ran 3 toons up to 80 in WvW and then basically stopped playing last spring. Making WvW worth something will at least get some, like me, to come back and take another look.

When the Devs Nerf my favorite toon it hurts less than when they Nerf you and also give you a monthly bill after doing it!

For me WvW is just getting old. Not sure if ANet can do anything about it to be honest. I don’t care for zerging, so I don’t do it. I’ve watched several videos of various GvG fights from Tier 1… it doesn’t even look remotely interesting to me.

So I roam in a duo or small group of 3 to 5 and it’s fun most times. There used to be a good bit of diversity in the small roaming groups, but it’s really just turning into a thief fest as of late. 8 professions in the game and every fight I come across has always got a thief in it. Yet I’m lucky if I come across one other Engie. Gettting bored with it.

Being stuck fighting the same servers for two months doesn’t help with the boredom either.

Yep. I ran 3 up to 80 in WvW at release. None was a thief and I never grouped. There was no problem finding 1v1 and 1v2 action against a varity of classes. Now you will always find a thief. Even started one myself but deleted it. I still feel tainted though.

I just want this game to not just be a bunch of players essentially asking for free content. It’s silly, some things need to be hard to get.

Basically I’m tired of people complaining about the game not being a perfect first attempt… as if any game ever were, and as if any game ever achieved perfection.

GW2 has definitely raised the bar that we may set as a standard for future MMO’s and that is a big deal. It’s no WoW killer, to be sure, but it definitely makes fighting dragons seem… well, epic. The Shatterer and all these dragons that you fight, I found it to be some epic battles. And sure, there is stuff to improve on, but I’m confident that it will appear as they get a better grip on how best to make it work with their new game designs and concepts.

Wp to dragon, auto attack, alt + tab to aviod lag, pick up loot. Epic fight!

Either was in Beta or played everything since UO including FTP games. Logged the most hours in DAOC. Didn’t like GW1.

I played over 500 hrs and have 3 80s in GW2. I even bought an extra char. slot. I thought this would be the game. I have not logged into GW2 since the patch. I drop by here to see if they have communicated any new plans or made any of the needed changes. Sooner or later I will stop doing even that.

Get the campers names! Then we can send them donations fo their good work.

If they do mergers then there might be more commanders out there than there are zerglings.

at some point everyone will have a commander icon and then the arguement will end. We still won’t have any good commanders, but there will be no need to fight about it.

yeah like I want to hear a server full of people while I am playing the game. Peeps should know what to do and where to go by now.

Most guilds just do events in WvW which are just karma runs. They are not there to fight. Most of their guildies are low level noobs who will never do more than said events.

Went to bed and woke up 8 hours later, glad that CD is still holding about 60% of the territory. Go CD!

Maguuma – 74k, +145
Darkhaven – 65k, +260

Every night I go to bed and the score is something like this:

Crystal Desert – 165
Darkhaven – 195
Maguuma – 320

It’s really depressing to fight your way to the top during prime-time hours, only to wake up to a huge deficit. Overall it’s not that bad, I guess. I’ve come to feel that this bracket is the cutoff between those servers with larger Oceania and European players bases vs servers with just a large NA presence.

Yeah it is. Basically, it looks like the loser of CD / TA / FA / YB is always going to get knocked down to this tier and then zerg the other servers. Darkhaven and Mag need to get some transfers in to even this bracket out as we are the stable player base at this tier.

I hope they do not change much. A few servers scoring 100 k-200 k to me means that there is always action and no Qs. Who wins doesn’t matter. There have been countless great battles between the servers you named.

I have not had the energy to play since this change was announced by ANet. I log on, go to WvW and maybe do something for a few minutes but then sooner or later I have to ask myself why? I have no direction or goals any more. Maybe in a few weeks once we see how much the game has changed I will be able to feel like doing something.

WvW is all about who has the best PvDoor numbers. Why does anyone even care who is “winning”?

I love low levels in WvW. Just tab target and burn them down.
Total leeches when they are on your team.

Leave the downed state alone. It adds to WvW. You just have not killed him yet. Either finish him or not.

Staying on one server with high Qs or one sided battles is stupid. I have better things to do with my gaming time.

The commander is a stupid idea. On my way to a fourth WvW 80 and I have yet to see a commander that I’d follow. It gets worse every day as more fools spend gold for a larger kitten.

By the time Anet does anything WvW will be reduced to a couple servers with long Qs. My main LOL was that each time to 80 I am forced to walk all the way to Orr to get armor.

Your friends will be able to access the server you’re on for this event, no worries.

This makes sense why servers are showing full 24/7. I’m guessing you dropped the cap on what is a full server in preparation for the event.

They had to have done that. Just after they nerfed transfers more servers shot to full and stayed there.

I dislike the idea of PvE in a WvW zone, with a Q. That said I have only stepped into one puzzle once, to see what they are, and then walked out again.

I really can’t see why people wouldn’t expect campers. Every choke point in every PvP game I have ever played in had some. Most people are out in the real battle.

To me PvErs Vs griefers is a lol.

They will be selling you seige buffs that are timers. Want more than a 10 min treb? Pay. The new Ascended Trebs!

I’d be happy to chip in to Pay people to camp it 24/7. PvE has no business being in the WvW zone.

ANet needs to stop messing around with foo foo crap like mad kings, new armor, and such and get down to Nerfing the Heck out of Mesmers and Thieves.

NO. DAOC is that way—→ No need to bring that kitten stuff into this game.

JQ is a great PvE server. It has to be with that Q!!
