Unidentified gear - Please No, No, No, Nooooo

Why are people saying it removes clutter? It doesn’t remove it… greens and blues still drop. It just cuts it down a little.

What should have happened:

1. Replace all blues, greens, yellow, and oranges with “unided COLOR gear”.
2. Double-clicking on a stack identifies 1 piece just like opening a bag.
3. Right click to salvage all without identifying.

So basically make them bags.

That’s it. That’s all they had to do. Nobody wanted a system with heart quests and paying to see what you got. Nobody. And none of that hiding yellows and oranges behind blues and greens.

The worst chapter/map of LS3 by a wide margin.

I don’t feel like dealing with puzzles after coming home from work. Sorry. Ain’t nobody got time to be trifling with that.

The story was very weak and doesn’t really set up the expansion well at all. By and large I preferred LS3 over LS2 but LS2 definitely had a better setup and a much better trailer.

The new map gets low marks just for having only 1 waypoint. Please stop it with that.

Oh, and so many bugs! I had to redo the final fight twice (3x total) because the boss was invisible.

My static group just ran him and our kiter could not hold aggro at all. We tried several times. He’s all over the place with his attacks now. The fight didn’t feel the same at all.

There aren’t any mechanic changes mentioned in the patch notes but they did change 3 other things with Cairn so I’m wondering if another thing (possible bug or undocumented change) slipped by.

Easy Motes for Raids?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Will.9785

Will.9785

We have challenge motes… can we get easy motes?

Before everyone jumps down my throat – no you would not be able to get LI and stuff like that from them.

But I’m thinking this would be extremely helpful for training raids.

The fights could be identical to the regular versions but with the damage scaled down. Things that would wipe you (e.g. Sabatha flame wall) would just do significant damage.

This would give folks the chance to see all of the different phases of a boss quicker and to be able to focus more on the mechanics… such as getting to the green circles on VG/Cairn, throwing bombs on Sabetha, eating mushrooms on Sloth, and things like that without having to waste time restarting as much. They would be spending more time learning the boss than resetting.

It might also make PUG training groups more of a possible thing. Seems like most training raids these days are set up/organized by an established guild. That’s great when it happens… but if you need to learn Sab and a Sab training group is not up it is going to take you a longer time to learn the fight. I would never go into a training group without at least some experienced or semi-experienced folks there with the way things are now but with an easy mote I would be more inclined.

Do people think this is a good idea? Have folks already asked for this?

Not true. At all. You can get the accessories and trinkets but armor rarely if ever drops.
You will get stuck at around level 50-55. You can’t go further because you don’t have enough slots for the agony resist. I speak from personal experience. The only way to go further is to start slotting +11s into your gear and that gets really expensive/dumb. I did tier 2 fractals (dailies plus others) for 3 months and only found 2 rings and 1 weapon during that time. No armor whatsoever.

Like I said before, a lot of of folks saying they get ascended gear like candy probably already have 1 or more ascended sets. You don’t actually start getting them with any degree of regularity (and even then its pretty kitten rare) until T4 fractals and raids (which I haven’t done but I’ve heard you can acquire them from there easily).

You can get all the way through t3 with just trinkets.
Trinkets provide 2(back) + 2 accessory + 6(rings) slots.

Using +9 infusions you get 90 AR. You can get another 15 Anguished Tear of Alba. Scale 75 which is the last in t3 requires 106. One AR short isn’t going to make a huge difference and you can just stick a +10 somewhere if you think it matters.

T3 is not T4. I did some T3 (the ones I could do) and it still didn’t drop squat.

Here’s the thing. Its 2017. Steam is a thing that exists and it has WAY more stuff than ANET could put out in a lifetime.

There is no reason why they can’t make everything available and then feature certain items on the tabs. Like you could have 3 tiers. Tier 1 would be the front page of the store. Tier 2 would be the tabs. Tier 3 would be the search function (i.e. if you know the name of the item you should be able to purchase it).

Stuff that is in tiers 1 and 2 would be on sale and stuff in tier 3 would not be – but it would be there for folks who don’t want to wait.

This wouldn’t cost them hardly a thing. They can use the same UI. They just need to make the old items searchable/purchasable.

There's no reward for higher lvl content.

I agree that high level content is not rewarding… but do you know why you feel that way? Its because you needed to get the end level items (ascended gear) before you could even do that content.

As a matter of fact, you don’t. If you play fractals, you’ll likely have all the resources in place to get and upgrade your ascended equipment by the time you reach the fractal levels that require that much agony resistance. If you play raids, you can in fact play them just as well in exotics if you know what you’re doing.

I agree that high level content is not rewarding… but do you know why you feel that way? Its because you needed to get the end level items (ascended gear) before you could even do that content.

The reward structure in this game falls apart between exotic and ascended items.

It can be incredibly difficult to get your first ascended set. Heck, the game rarely even throws exotic items your way. You are pretty much forced to grind whatever flavor of the month money meta there is to build a stockpile of gold and then craft your items rather than finding them in the world.

If anything ascended items (and legendary items) need to have more ways of being obtained. Like take dungeons for example, they are pretty much dead. Why not add ascended items to those vendors?

And I know this won’t be a popular opinion but raids should be a little easier (to discourage elitism and make them more pug friendly) and give you tokens that you can use to buy legendary items. That way they would have some sort of tangible rewards outside of the legendary armor which for a lot of folks doesn’t even look that good.

… the item(s) I want are gone! And it needs to stop. Seriously.

Some people, like myself, like to take their time to consider their purchases rather than just spend money hand over fist (although I’m sure ANet would like that).

But seriously, everytime I get myself to a point where I want to buy something from the store its gone. It never fails.

The latest would be the shattered bloodstone glider and the unbound magic gathering tools. Both gone. So now I have to wait god knows how long for them to come back and by then I might feel differently about them… so ANet is out like $40 or whatever it would have cost.

Please explain energy AND cooldowns on skills

in Revenant

Posted by: Will.9785

Will.9785

The reason that’s often given is that our weapon skills have lower cool downs to compensate for the energy costs. Let’s be real our cool downs aren’t that much lower.

I would rather have slightly longer cool downs to be honest. At least then I would actually use the weapons skills. I almost never use my weapon skills because the energy is better spent on the utility skills/upkeeps. So I basically spend 90% of my time auto-attacking which isn’t that fun.

And I swap legends constantly. Even with swapping there is no where even near enough energy. 1-2 weapon skills will completely drain your bar depending on what you use. You are much better off using the upkeeps (quickness, hammers, boons, etc.)

They should just delete weapons skills 2-5 – I doubt most folks would even notice.

How about an armory?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Will.9785

Will.9785

There is already a system to swap out stats. It costs money and you lose the sigils/runes, but that’s what keeps that stat swap to be different from legendary weapons and probably legendary armor as well.

There would have to be some form of cost associated with swapping stats on ascended gear to keep the legendary benefit in tact. Something akin to transmutation charges.

What I’m proposing wouldn’t be the same as a stat swap. More of a gear/sharing option.

What I’m proposing would destroy the item in exchange for letting all characters on your account share it. For example, if I destroy an ascended berserker heavy helmet then any of my level 80 warriors, guardians, or revenants could share this item by linking to the armory.

This is different than changing the stats from say berserker to marauder. This keeps the stats berserker but allows all character to access this piece of gear without having to bank it/swap it out first.

So I make Berserker Helmet 1 for my warrior. Then I destroy it and it goes to the armory. My revenant then uses it. If my guardian can use it without my revenant having destroyed it, then it’s the exact same thing as the legendary stat swap.

Or worse, puts ascended armor into the same situation that led ANet to add ascended armor to the game in the first place: armor being too quick and easy to obtain.

Now would I be opposed to a build system that could store all of the data with regards to traits, armor, weapons, sigils, runes, trinkets, etc and you could create different versions to swap between without having to store the aforementioned armor, weapons, trinkets, etc? No. As long as each template could not be used by two characters of the same class and race at the same time (due to racial armors and traits and due to different traits for each class you couldn’t share a template between different classes and races). So Human Thief Build Template 1 could only be used by one human thief character at a time.

You don’t get it. Simple as that.

How about an armory?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Will.9785

So we have a wardrobe for different looks…. why not an armory for different stats?

It could be limited to just ascended gear. Basically once you get an item you could add it to your armory (destroying it in the process) and then other characters could “equip” it by linking to the armory.

The different armor weight classes/rules would still apply.

This would make it easier to share gear between characters. I like to play between berserker and herald so I constantly have to swap gear. Meanwhile the ascended gear is so expensive I would never craft a 2nd berserker set. So something like this would be a huge quality of life thing for me.

I could also see this appealing to some folks for the collecting aspect.

Less items in collection = more legendaries

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Will.9785

Will.9785

So the dev team gave up on the legendaries because the collection were too much work.

I have an easy solution for you.

Stop including so many items in the collections.

For example, does there seriously need to be 30+ items in the tier 3 collection? Its not like the extra items contribute significantly to the length of the quest. Most folks will still bang it out in a day regardless.

If the dev team would have cut the number in half they would have gotten twice as far.

Matter of fact, you could drop items from existing collections and shift them to other (new) ones to save even more time. I know some of the items have ‘lore’ behind them but its not like it would take much to change an icon and text but keep the method of acquisition the same.

Weapons for elite specs lacking?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Will.9785

Will.9785

Just an observation, but it seems like the weapons for the elite specializations are lacking compared to other options for some classes.

To me, this is kind of an issue because using these weapons is a large part of the reason for using the specialization.

I’m thinking of berserker (torch), herald (shield), and scrapper (hammer) in particular.

Now admittedly, I don’t play scrapper so it could be my imagination but I rarely see folks using hammers. Seems like most scrappers use pistol/pistol. I do play warrior and herald though. For warrior axe/mace + gs seems like the go-to set. For herald its sword/axe + staff/hammer.

So my question is… do the weapons need to be buffed so that folks actually use them? I’m not saying buff them to the extent where they become the obvious choice but at least closer to 50/50 than where we are at now?
