To clarify I am looking forward to hearing the communities thoughts on speed of acquisition such as how long crafting time takes? or drop rates in fractals and other areas of the game etc.

I think the underlying issue is you have two communities you are serving: the hardcore and the casual.

For the hardcore I think the rewards and requirements/time gating on ascended tier items is just right.

The casuals (especially the “altoholics”) however suffer greatly under the current system.

• Fractals take to long for many to complete them daily. If they were an hour I think many more people would be able to run them and more often. There is also a lot of wast with the rewards because you will often times get rings with stats you don’t want. A method of exchange would be great even if it was a 4 : 1 exchange rate.
• Ascended material requisition is also very time consuming or expensive. You either dedicate all of your game time to running world bosses, dungeons, or champs. Bloodstone is fine and drops decently but ore and fragments require much more time from the casual player.
• Dungeons used to be a great alternative for gearing up best in slot items. Players still needed to craft/buy trinkets. Ascended tier has changed this. Dungeons can still be a way to gear out the exotic stage but it would be nice if there was a way they could support the quest for ascended as well. The reasons why dungeons are so nice for casuals is the time commitment can be in small chunks… half and hour here, half and hour there…

I am not sure how you cater to both customer bases, but I would much rather the grind time gated material be cosmetic and best in slot gear be more accessible for the casual player.

I think the part that is bad design is you have set the cost between the low and high costs of the elite skills. The new healing skills are NOT elite in anyway. So lower level characters don’t have access to them as a valid build consideration, and high level players are asked to pay elite level skill points for me… not convinced.

I hope it is less just from the perspective of gearing alts. I think it is entirely reasonable to expect to be able to gear out two or three characters for less than a legendary.

And that ladies and gentlemen is the answer… The return is far greater on a single piece for the time invested. The Grenth hood is cool enough that many people will buy it at an inflated price, as a single piece.

This whole situation was handled so incredibly poorly. I am trying to think of something that Anet has handled well lately and the only thing I can think of is notes for class skill changes and the open discussion from them. Maybe also the new WvW map.

This fractals patch was almost singularly disappointing.

• New players get screwed by new infusions as they don’t automatically get the +5 older-players got
• Say fractal weapons are available in boxes, don’t say that the levels that drop them aren’t in game yet
• Reduced rewards overall
• Undo many players progress (not mine)
• Made agony have more impact at lower levels

Gained

• Couple levels (that I think are pretty fun)
• Two very buggy boss battles that are a magnitude more difficult that the past boss level
• Boss battle ever fractal level (this admittedly is freaking awesome for those of us just leveling up through fractals)

The Fractal Skin Box is not dropping for the Fractal levels currently available (up to level 50).

It’s not accessible to anyone at this time.

Why on earth would you put into your preview something that is not in the game. The is a colossal tease and massive poor decision in my opinion. There was never any mention that skins would drop in boxes at fractal levels not out yet, just that they would now drop.

They should have done a unique skin for all tiers with 1, 2, & 3 – get a special version somehow indicating their rank.

Guys I am sure the devs will get to us as soon as the krait thread dues down… Well maybe after the inevitable quaggan follow up thread dies down.

But I’m with Smokee though, I really can’t wait for seasons to be over. I feel the season stuff did more harm to the pvp community then actually helping it. Lot of players that normally pvp 24/7 have just not been keen to go in, which really says enough.

I don’t see WvW being the same as PvP (because I’ve mostly only sPvP’ed from launch to middle of this year). Albeit it is based around PvP gameplay/aspects, but when you add the objectives and other modifiers it isn’t really the same. I also don’t believe the WvW community is the same as the PvP community, and I’m pretty sure all whom have been playing since paid queues that are in the actual community for sPvP would agree.

I can’t really speak on behalf of the sPvP community, but I know our guild (mostly r50+ if not r60+ sPvP players) on BG whilst we aren’t happy with the queues it isn’t something we are really going to complain about because it isn’t really going to solve anything. We just solo que or team que in sPvP (might be a solid recommendation). When we complained/still complain about the way sPvP is going it generally feels like it goes unheard unless grouch or someone attempts to get something across. Also as irritating as it is to wait for hours to get into WvW it isn’t something I am going to hold the rest of the BG community (like PvEerz) hostage for. It isn’t their fault Anet put shiney dangling keys in the WvW aspects of the game, and Anet didn’t do anything to adjust the amount you are able to que or the new map yet.

I guess you can at least look at the bright side that the new Fractals launch today, and that will give the PvEerz something to hold their interest for a bit so we can get in quicker? :P

My initial response was far angrier in tone so I am reposting it after taking a dose of my own medicine.

Is that how you want to represent our server? gtfo? I made a comment about the majority of the people in the borderlands maps this week. People who are still a part of Blackgate, people who make Blackgate a great all around server (we are tier 1 in WvW and PvE). Elitism is one thing, but your tone has no place in the conversation in my opinion.

BG wvw core guilds/players do not want a karma train. You would only hear most of these guys if you were on TS. Map chat is usually more loaded with AP hunters constantly calling out “can haz karma train pl0x?!”. Honestly, those of us who want to play the mode as intended (vast majority of actual steady WvW players) are burnt out from hearing this since day 1 of season 1. So, I won’t tell you to gtfo, but please stop asking for a karma train, and instead hop on TS and earn your WXP/AP the legit way.

Again my comment was about the general person on the map. I am in TS, I am earning my karma the legit way, and I am following commanders (even bad ones). I also have not asked for karma trains.

I am very appreciative of what our war council does and the time they put in, but that type of vitriol towards the militia is unneeded and unhealthy for our server. That is my point. You can say that Karma train is unhealthy without stooping to “GFTO” your ruining my game state levels.

I agree achieves have no place in WvW. I am however incredibly lucky that they got in this time. I never did any WvW before the season and it is now all I want to do. I will be here fighting when the season is over, on teamspeak, running builds as needed and sticking to the commanders tag like glue or roaming with havoc.

So in my opinion, the positive outcome is that there is a influx of new WvWers for after the season. But yes achieves in WvW are sooo bad, if there are anymore they need to be done in like 5 minutes so the queues can unclog again.

Because every fight against Blackgate/JQ/SoR is essentially a 5to1 fight ( and that’s in good conditions) and also because they PvD everything while people are working ( FACT : 100 man just pushed into our garri to retake it against….. 12 ish roamer. At noon eastern on a monday. repeat every day), that means we start from a “paper position” every day.

Pffff Blackgate. Anyone can feel invincible in pvt with +4man dps helping against whatever. It’s not like there’s any effort or skill required. Just cruise control to victory.

The maguuma way involves becoming tougher and harder to survive against more and more ridiculous odds. No cruise control here. The reason our roamers are strong is that they get it done ALONE. That’s why we got that swag.

In fact, i’m quite confident in saying that most BG players wouldn’t be able to handle Maguuma-style difficulty. Because they are not tough enough.

Our objective this week is the number 2 spot. If blackgate will stop playing favorites ( by capping only mag stuff during the day and keeping the points rolling for sos) then perhaps we’ll get it done.

Any way you cut it, the “season” and the “rankings” are a joke. 3 weeks into the season we got word that SOME silver league servers (who shall remain nameless) deliberatly tanked themselves to silver league because they were too weak to try the real deal. and because….. they were scared the rewards for “bottom gold” was not gonna be good enough for them. Ask the silver league guys about it sometimes…

How is capping everything playing favorites? Seriously blackgate players just want a karma train this week.

It also needs a little bit of a buff, I want to use it in the zergs!

If it makes you feel better rewards are two blues and a green.

Whenever I 2v1 or more an enemy I always kneel and salute them for fighting against the odds.

In zergs I notice commanders are always wishing they had more mesmers. Elementalists have more tasks and are important, but mesmers are clutch and provide the advanced tactics that allow smaller zergs to stomp bigger ones.

The thing is a zerg will always have enough eles, often times there is only one mesmer, or maybe non on Team Speak anyways.

The issue is when one fractal gets longer running all 4 of them (each one has a boss now) takes pretty darn long.

To keep fractals accessible they need to be short.

I have full Celestial Trinkets… Love them. Never have to change them and I let my skill compensate for the ~minimal~ difference in stat efficiency.

I’ve never had a problem.

Your post is one of the reasons i asked.. it would be great to use the same trinkets for zerg an roaming…

I am sorry but I often run with a zerg that wipes larger zergs, and have many times been wiped by a smaller zerg. Numbers is not the only factor. Good battle tactics and the element of surprise are immensely important. running tight and stacked on the commander is a massive benefit. I have been involved with 30 man zergs that have wiped 50 man zergs because we just played better. I have also been on the flip side. There are advanced moves and tactics that make an incredible difference (mostly Mesmer based)

As for the season, yes I am incredibly satisfied and had a great time. yes I think it could be better, but it was fun and many a good battle was had.

Was a blast running 57 golems into Garri last night on JQBL… Their billions of arrow carts wiped us out as we made a few mistakes but it was some of the most fun I have had in the game yet.

That was so insane. Someone noted in map chat there were “about 30 golems” and they were instantly derided for exaggeration until we arrived and our commander was like, “Um, that’s more like 50. Man the ACs! And I hope someone is screenshotting this.” And about ten people replied that they already had.

Yea we totally underestimated how many arrow carts would be present. Lessons learned and massive fun for everyone. The first gate melted before our tail could catch up =) by the time all golems were present we took down four walls and three gate in what I think was less than two minutes.

You guys did an awesome job defending btw. Excellent work JQ.

Really? You wish to know why? Try this, I got into EB on Friday start of the season.. Ran to our Commander moved out had to wheel around to fight BOTH BG and SOS off of our Spawn keep… Oddly enough, neither was fighting the other. BG broke the door down, charged in, got wiped, SoS then charged in and got wiped, BG then took their turn… Then SoS.

As the evening progressed all we got was SoS blocking our attempts at going after BG, SoS did nothing but Circle the castle, didn’t try to take it from BG, just kept us from trying to take it.

Don’t come here and complain about how JQ is treating you now that you finally decide you want to fight BG.

You do realize that waiting on an attacking force to do all the work and then coming in behind them after they have been weakened makes a ton of sense don’t you? What you are trying to describe as collusion is merely sound strategic thinking. Your paranoia and hysteria are getting the better of you i think.

Full set as in trinkets, or full set as in trinkets armor and weapons?

So I have wasted quite a few laurels already and want to minimize future waste. My guardian is primarily zerg but will do small group as well. I rarely solo roam with him, that is what my thief is for.

If I want one WvW Trinket set, is celestial the way to go? I currently have three ascended soldiers (necklace, and two rings) and one berserker’s necklace.

Help me out I have 8 toons and cant afford to have wasted ascended gear.

I also wanted to give props to an SoS guild, I think it was EP… You guys ran super tight and flowed as a single unit. Much respect to you as you brought your a game, we unfortunately did not. First post was pretty much all of it. I’m not a perfect player, but I am competent enough and can play fairly well. No glaring mistakes happened, it was a fast and smooth run. The only plausible explanation is griefing. I have heard of it happening but had until this one instance never had it happen to me.

My position was, and is, that there should be recourse for griefing in game and a mechanic to eliminate this type of thing from dungeons.

Its sad when people lives are such a mess of hurt and failed expectations that they lash out at other on the internet anonymously… Even worse that they gather around each other to feed off of each others own misery.

Pathetic.

Oh and I cant even report them because all group conversation is erased after I am booted from dungeon…

There needs to be a kicking lock while in combat and during and after boss.

Just this morning I ran CoF with a group, went very well. Downed once but that will happen in full zerkers. Ran pas Indiana Jones trap with no portal from Mesmer because he didn’t feel like doing it.. Kill the boss in record time (timing my blocks well, was running guardian) and as soon as he dies I am kicked… No reason but they wanted to be jerks.

I did get the tokens but nothing else. Anet please make it so there is a window when people cannot be kicked at, during, after boss…. maybe the boss area is a no kick zone. What happened to me was complete BS and isn’t fun to be trolled just so some immature deviant can get his/her laughs.

Full soldier’s is actually a great set to have for bosses you can’t crit.

Why: Attaining dungeon master and finding groups for Arah has been less than successful.

I am stuck on him as well… tried countless times, almost one twice..

I didn’t log out, it never popped up. I made a support ticket and they closed it saying they know its an issue… Hooray for not getting the reward.

So I have 5 lvl 80 characters that I am trying to get geared up. I have in the past run the same path of a dungeon on the same day with more than one character and gotten the full 60 tokens on both.

Today I ran one with three characters and the second two only got 30 tokens… What exactly is the condition I need to meat to run a dungeon (same path) with all 5 lvls 80s to help me gear them up?

I filed an in game ticket, wasn’t aware thats what I wasnt sposed to do…

Didn’t do monthly pvp, only completed the pve. I had taken a break from the game for a few months and busted my tail over the past week to finish the monthly and most of dragon bah.

No chest though.
