you better enunciate my team name “Pipth Pleath”
I’ve gotten to sapphire with such ease it disgusts me. And no I haven’t been playing like a mad man. I’ve just been playing casually the past couple of days and have only lost 3~ out of 35 matches.
I’m not here to brag, i’m here to tell you and everyone that visits these forums THIS MATCHMAKING IS NOT OKAY. You shouldn’t punish players that aren’t as good as others to suffer 20 losses in a row at the beginning of each season.
The Fact that MMR no longer exists and your league is all that represents the matchmaking now a days is a kittening joke. (inc forum restriction cause i’m not a circlejerker) If someone wants to get to legendary you don’t have to try hard at all. Actually i suggest you wait 2 weeks, wait for all the players to get up higher in the leagues and just start playing after they get there, then you spam ranked matches to vs the people who had the unfortunate desire to play during the opening days of the season and stomp them because you’re roughly the same skill level, Once you get to ruby, group with 3-4 people (not 5 because NOW you don’t get put against 5 pugs. But 4 people can!) and just faaaaaaaaaarm like no other!
The leagues “representing” your Skill Level is a joke, and everyone at ArenaNet doesn’t get it because they don’t understand their player-base at all. In fact they’re trying way to hard to cater towards casual players that they don’t realize how much people like competition and the Risk / Reward factor.
ArenaNet, I’m telling you right now. If you don’t smarten up about the way you handle leagues EVERY COMPETITIVE PLAYER IN THE GAME WILL LEAVE FOR SOMETHING ELSE WORTH THEIR TIME.
People who play in hopes of reaching challenger league / ESL play for the competition, If you’re rearing your game towards “Esports” Then you should understand what people want and what Drives them. Offer me a job to work at your company as a Marketing analyst and you’ll see stars flying through the office!
Look towards other games in the past and present understand why they’ve failed and succeeded their communities. You’re not just designing an MMORPG for millions to play anymore *cough more like 100,000 people now. You’re designing a PvP Ranking system that has the potential to be something great.
Please, don’t Ruin my favorite game because people on the forums are crying “OP”
No compation for the weak.
The game at current, is balanced. More than its ever been.
Just out of curiosity is it a
medianmode or a mean?Edit: math terms.
It is the mean. The player base distributes into a bell curve like such:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_deviationWe place people right in the middle.
Why dont these numbers relate-able to League rank distribution?
There are way to many legends to fairly say That it’s also on a bell curve.
The league is more like half a bell curve because everyone starts at the beginning and don’t all play the entire season. The lack of backwards progress in the divisions also changes the distribution.
That’s really interesting. Out of curiosity, what percentage of PvPers made it to legend in S1? It seems, from anecdotal lobby observation, that about 5% made it. From what you said, it would make one think about 20-30% made it?
Should we expect more or less to be legendary in S2?
Edit: or did I misunderstand? I think I was picturing the wrong side of the bell the more I think about it…
Hes saying that about 5% are in amber / emerald whereas the larger half of the population is on the other side of spectrum, sitting in ruby – diamond – legendary.
Which is why no one can seriously take this game as an esport with a ranking system like that. I’d love it if they made it harder for people to climb / easier for people to get demoted and just made the seasons longer per average.
(I understand longer seasons means Anet is less inclined to balance as often but, my hopes n’ dreams are that they’ll realize that more frequent balance patches and longer seasons = hyper success rates)

Why not have backward progress? Allow players who perform poorly to drop divions / leagues. The Whole idea of someone being able to obtain a rank then just “kitten ” the next 50 games without it affecting his rank seems a bit outlandish. Like whats the reason behind this?
IMO it will never really seem like a true representation of skill until this is achieved.

Esports is growing more then ever.
I love this game but it’s not Esports friendly in this pvp mode.
Arena could make this the biggest MMORPG Esports game.
Over and out.As much as I would love arenas, Its what drove WoW into a kittenhole. The viewer experience was so bad watching people basically duel in small maps…
You’d think it would be more intimate to watch but Gw2 Needs, NEEDS an in game spectator for these types of events much like CS:GO. You open up the client go to the game browser and spectate each and every person.
This would open up to looking at their builds ON YOUR OWN WATCH, checking out each players perspective whenever you want.
Immersion is the way to go, watching this game like a chess game isn’t.
I would sure like that, really. Like in Dota 2 for example when you can join any game and watch from a player perspective or just free camera. That’s a really good idea.
I didn’t really play WoW, can u elaborate your tought a bit more about why the arenas drove the game backwards (or at least from a viewing prespective)?
Thx for good post
It wasn’t arena’s persay, it was the fact that they had the same problem as guildwars2, the viewer had no control over what was happening, and with any MMO pvp system, you need to be able to be looking at peoples cooldowns and animations more closely.

After playing for a few hours it came back to normal,
probably the MMR was not stable after a patch or something.
Now it seems normal, I’m winning half or most matches as solo ques.
Matchmaking seems to be working fine now
Sounds like a development of the “bads”
I’ve been losing 90% of my solo ques by very large margins, in contrast to past week when i was wining 50-60% …
What changed?
I guess you’re worse?
Lol, you’ll never guess whats going on.
This is the funniest kitten ever… hahaha PU, dueling? hahaha
Problem is that Rev is still too strong. In ESL games theres only a 4 unique classes required, whereas in challenger league you need 5 unique classes.
And the best of all, ranked queues have ZERO limitation. all in all you’re probably best off running 3 revs a druid and a scrapper.
The way i see it, is you break it down into categories. Power / condi / bunker, then from there you break each one down into sub categories and how they perform compared to each other. Rev still has #1 mobility, damage, cc break, self sustain. (keep in mind you can play revs as glass power, paladins, or mercenary all with the same spec just a couple of trait changes and they’re all equally as viable.
Scrapper, does the most damage while being able to take as many hits it possibly can, has ridiculous CC, 2 stun breaks, damage mitigation, double rez potential via function gyro, and can potentially 1v2 for a sustained amount of time.
Druid, has the most heals while being the most mobile AND tanky. Has the new “kitten you” ability to rez people from 1200 range away….(wtf why?) and can literally pull bodies through kittening walls and buildings. besides this if they’re running longbow they can hold their own in a 1v1 due to sheer knockback and immobilization accessibility (potential decap / cap ) and in teamfights can use FULL shout builds to mitigate 50% of damage taken AOE FOR HIS TEAM, and aoe stun break + taunt.
These are the #1 bullkitten classes right now. And i main all of them, i’m not biased.
/popcorn…
It jut keeps getting better n better.
What the kitten…. Put in a support ticket and say that 3 of your team just got troll kicked off of the team you created.
the only “meta” condi build right now is necro, im not sure if stupid or what.
No need to insult yourself. Just reread the OP message. What you say is true about condi (from what we’ve seen so far). CC and passives are a big problem though.
The games in a much healthier state then what it was pre HoT, so I don’t think there’s a problem with condi at all.
the only class that can corrupt as many boons as a necro is a necro, they’re being redefined into a role which is a good thing. Anet should continue on their path of redefining class roles.
In time the game will grow to be better and bettter, my only problem with it now is that Conquest is the only pvp mode we’ll see for probably another 2 years.
Arenas (2v2, 3v3’s) need to be a thing, and they need to be pumped out sooner because if you don’t do it soon, we wont see them in competitive play for a long time.
the only “meta” condi build right now is necro, im not sure if stupid or what.
do you know how how many puppies i’ll eat for constant 100 ping? i play this game at 160 ok, but ive tried it at 100 and there’s a world of difference
Exactly, why is it so high?
Wow. If you are complaining about a 100 ping, you have issues. Newsflash: even if your ping was 70, it wouldn’t make you a much better player.
There is a very noticeable difference.
I play with 120-180 ping since launch due where I live, and I don’t do bad at all. While I agree that higher ping will at some point be a disadvantage, I don’t think 100 ping will do much.
Im not saying we do bad, im saying we’re at a severe disadvantage.
All west coasters play with such a huge disadvantage… Server location cant be the only problem… Whats the reasoning?
There are many other games i play with servers in texas / far east united states but max ping i get from them is like 70-80…
The difference is so huge! especially when theres pre / post cast delays in this game it makes it ridiculous to try and keep up.
So I have been a pvper since 2013 and loved it, but right now, this league thing has been extremely horrible. It’s no fun at all with this bunker nonsense, but at least I could win with mesmer and ele, my main professions since 2013. After achieving my wings, the amount of grind it took, I never want to come back. After seeing this balance patch nerfing my favourite class to the ground, and my second one being poorly fixed, it confirms I won’t be coming back until its fixed up. I guess I’ll be PvE’ing for the next 6-12 months until they make major changes, I can tell, the PvP population is going to continue dropping if they don’t balance things up more often, and more efficiently.
Good riddance
What the kitten?
who the kitten made up stronghold instead of this????
Wrong. They have to let the meta settle and people enjoy playing their builds and fine tuning them. Nobody wants regular changes. 6 months is fine for an mmo
6 is a bit much. 3-4 month cycles. Anything less that 3 means the meta may not have fully settled.
1 month is enough time to let the meta settle, look at what happened this season. People played DH up the kitten , they realized they get kitten on by everything else and in the first week of pro leagues bunk mes was played, then second week there were 2 bunks mes’s on each team.
People know well enough the state of the meta after a month passes by, and even to an extent Anet should still be throwing out monthly hotfixes for different things. Look at major popular games that have a HUGE competitive ESports scene, LoL and DoTA both do bi monthly patches DURING their tournament seasons.
While they may not be doing anything drastic during the larger tournies its still small tweaks, and thats what Anet lacks. Is a dedicated pvp balance team.
Anets balance team consists of people from WvW, PvE and PvP… Nothing should be balanced like that, you should have separate teams working on separate things that aren’t as tightly integrated as they currently are.
/grammar sucks balls, idc you understand my point.
THIS GUY IS PLAYING PVP WITH ACTION CAMERA, WHAT THE kitten ARE YOU MAKING BALANCE VIDEOS FOR?
Izangi, you’re insane to think Gw2 is the only game that does this.
It’s balanced around the 50% winrate so people can have even and fair matches.
Ferocity is really bad, but when you wipe a team (which is rare) getting it when you have nothing to do is good, because 8 points per kill if you do wipe them again is a lot.
But im not an advocate.
Well, a lot of ppl will see it as a nerf mainly because they would actually have to fight properly instead of playing like a brain dead zombie against condition builds. The proposed change will make it so that they would actually have to be way more careful or build for more condition removal.
Right, because 1 condi removal per second as a baseline passive is “Playing smart”
Is actually a buff.
But on the other hand ele’s wont be seen as often because of cele removal, so there’s that.
Way to many…. i feel like if there was an acutal representation of skill via rank, there would be like 50 players in total with “top rank”
do i get my money back for buying the runes/amulets?
Any sigil/rune/amulet you purchased you’ll get refunded for. The new amulets we’re adding will be free since we’re removing a number of other core amulets.
Why did you remove bunker amulets then add mercenary amulet?
560 vitality / toughness with 1k power and condi??? this is essentially vipers gone wild, why move forward 1 step and 1 step back?
Not just cause hes in legendary.
He also got to Legendary only by the hell that is soloq.
Additionally, when he got to legendary, he decided to go for the meta achivements (for wings). So started playing other classes he had no idea how to play in Legendary which is kinda legendary (unless he was in your team I guess).
Leeto is a Legend.
someone is in love…
You say this but, 98% of the people on this forum are in sapphire.
Well I guess Anet will have to give this cheater a whole 6 month ban for doing something that deserves a permanent ban.
Anyone want to place a bet this player isn’t banned in say the next month?
Its arena net we’re talking about here. this guy isn’t gonna be caught for a good year.

Druids have no stability except for their elite, boon strip it or wait it out (10s) and knock them around. they’re easy to kill if you have half a brain.
You guys keep throwing out “reaper” as if they’re like the meta gods at the moment. they’re sub par at best.
bump
I’m legendary and have all the wings, so my question is; next season when the inevitable league reset hits, what will i be spending my league tickets on?
Is there going to be an armor set? weapons? more minis? seem’s kinda odd.
try posting on reddit to
Done
i guess no one wants to find out if there’s an actual bell curve
Im just wondering what the average / split is between leagues…
It is as long as you’re playing with party/abusing pip system.
I played in a party / solo’d my way here, the whole time i didn’t play with anyone less than ruby….
Its easy. way. to. easy.
Just saying.
Their is wayyyyy to much DMG in pvp….
Every single game I’m just in downstate 24/7
You can’t bring stability to this game without removing the power creep of dps and 1 shots going around. This site belongs to Guild Wars 2 game, it does not support the game you are playing .
Thank you.
lool
There are a lot of great solution options I’ve seen, but they all have on drawback preventing them from ever happening that noone i willing to accept… longer queue times. People in these games would rather have faster bad queues than longer better matches.
Honestly, all of this would be fine if the imbalance was taken into account on the pip meter, but it isn’t. If you base progression on pips, then pips gain/loss has to be done better, that’s the bottom line here… the rest becomes irrelevant if that’s done right and takes into account the imbalances.
All the tanking and manipulation and all this other nonsense wouldn’t matter if it didn’t cost me my pips and progression, i would simply laugh at those who had to do such things to compete.
You’re insinuating that my idea has a drawback. What is it? Less abusers?
