Give this back, please. All it does is waste my time and adds nothing to the experience of the game. Hopefully it’s a bug and not a deliberate move. The former is understandable and the latter is just…well, it would be illustrative of how the company sees its players (i.e. not a good move if you want to engender good will).
I think what gets me the most is the way the Risen work. They move SO FAST in combat it’s nuts. They’re difficult to kite and seem to be in some permanent state of fast-forward.
The worst part is how when I dodge them, by the time I can start doing something, they’re already on me, hitting me.
In that vein, it’s exceedingly frustrating to have defensive abilities on long cooldowns when the offensive abilities vomiting conditions all over you are being spammed. Sometimes I just leave conditions alone because I swear the mobs stop adding them if they see you’re already wearing some.
And what’s with dodging only to have whatever it is hit you anyway? Stupid marsh drakes.
I swear when I first glanced at this topic I read: lingerie element.
The toughest class to play in PvE (but probably also the most fun) so far seems to be the Thief.
But I love playing aThief. No matter how fragile we are.
I actually find my Mesmer to be harder than my Thief by quite a wide margin. I think it speaks to the fact that different people have different classes that are easy or difficult for them. What is easy for me, may be difficult for you and vice versa. Sometimes you just click with a class and its mechanics and sometimes you don’t.
Lore base, skritt are to stupid to function as single individuals much less as a hero.
you would need to run around in a pack to have enough brain power to function as a hero, essentially making it a pack class.
This reminds me of a Vernor Vinge novel.
Those places are my favorites, too. I love when I accidentally stumble into one.
Sadly no, those are one of the items they removed from vendors recently. Problematically, I have gotten zero to drop via other means, too. Chili Peppers are in a similar place, but I have 5 of those. And this is with the guild feeding me mats.
Most MMOs no.
Rift yes. Whilst I prefer the combat mechanics in GW2, I find the convenience and shear amount of options in Rift to be better. LFG, IA, massive epic zone invasions, Raid rifts….. I find this on demand content to be compelling.Which is why I retain my sub to Rift alongside my GW2 play.
I too enjoy Rift immensely. It’s one of the few sub-based MMOs I’d consider still playing. Hell, now that they’ve killed my beloved City of Heroes I might shift my monthly sub back to Rift.
I like traditional MMOs. I like Guild Wars and WoW and SWTOR and LotRO and Age of Conan. I like Guild Wars 2. In fact I’m obsessed with it. But I still like traditional MMOs just fine. This isn’t a zero-sum proposition for me.
Caster Charr are just wrong. WRONG, I say! =P
Fist Wraps, for fast melee brawling
Cestus. Also katar (katara/suwaiya).
More realistically, spears for out of the water use (both 1h and 2h versions would rule) and maybe great axes.
I tend to go with first and last names in games like Guild Wars that allow it. For example, I may not be able to get Threnody (now that I think about it, I didn’t even try), but I got Threnody Johansson which, at the end of the day, I actually prefer.
When I try to get single-word names or names that are relatively wide-exposure (such as Death Dealer, let’s face it – Silke/Frazetta, Underworld franchise, et al), it never works. So I gave up on that approach a long time ago and I’m happier for it.
Sad story: I was Autumn Skye in GW1 for a long time, from the beta weekends on into release for a while. Then I decided to remake my character but got distracted. I didn’t get back to the game for a few days after deleting her. When I tried, the name was taken and I haven’t been able to get it back since. It’s very sad. I loved that name. But it’s like Death Dealer…it’s a combination of words that seems to occur to a lot of people and is therefore an unreliable thing to get your (my) heart set on.
1500.
character limit
Haha, ow.
But yeah, the damage count from a skill like that is not cumulative, it’s updating the total done.
Hmmm…I kinda like the general idea. What I’d like more is if we were limited to a single conjured weapon at a time. Equip the conjure and then it just becomes the second weapon set without charges. If you must maintain a charge paradigm, give us 15-30 charges on swap. That limits the contiguous time we can spend in it during prolonged fights. Not sure what to do about the weapon on the ground other than make it unusable by the caster.
Another possbility (which I think is even better) is to have the conjured weapon, once equipped, replace the skills of the attunement it represents. Lightning Hammer would replace air skills, Frost bow would replace water skills and so on. This way you could equip whatever you wanted, knowing that it replaces the attunement skill setup normally available. Then you equip elementally conjured weapons to your heart’s content. So I could keep my S/D fire and earth skills, then pick up a hammer and bow for my other two attunements if I’m willing to sacrifice those S/D attunement skills for the conjured weapons.
Ah well. Dream on!
My 2 bronze…
The issue seems to me that the effort I put into my Elementalist doesn’t jive with the outcome I get. For far less effort I often get better results on all my other characters. I don’t mind that I have to dynamically attune elements or stance-dance, as it were (WoW Warriors will know that one). What I do mind is that it’s very easy to do that wrong. Even when I do it right, I am working far harder than I do on other characters for the same results. And there is zero margin for error: I am either a hero like everyone else or I am trying to stuff my intestines back in.
I get that as Elementalists, we can generate our own combo fields and that capability exists supposedly to help our weak points. But in all honesty, I don’t see the payoff in play, only on paper.
However…I get a lot more drops and DE XP with my Elementalist than with my other characters. I suppose there’s that. Oh, and I only notice Elementalist problems solo. Add in even one more person and my problems seem to melt away.
