HoT: Story Bugs

I am having trouble completing the HoT storyline on my revenant. I managed to do it on my engineer before with bugs but this time, it has been very game-breaking.

Bitter Harvest:
- Jumping on that helix tree is buggy. It can knock you off when attempting to jump on it for the first time and then you take armour damage because you get downed then die instantly.
- When scaling up the helix tree and jumping to Foalain’s cliff, the game can bug out and put you inside the cliff. You have to restart the entire story when this happens…

Heart and Mind:
- More often than not, you do not get knocked up so you can glide during the damage phase on the ground. You basically have to restart the fight again.
- When you restart the fight, sometimes the platforms are missing so you can’t get to the rifts.
- When I tried completing it with other party members, 2/3 people did not get credit for the kill because we both died during the gliding phase where we did not get knocked into the air.

The most annoying thing though is that there is no way point to the area so you have to play the entire buggy Bitter Harvest quest again to get there. Second there is no repair station anywhere. I can handle the bugs but I do not like being punished for bad code nor being forced to buy instant repair canisters from the gem shop.

Unfortunately they’re making too much profit from it to care.

predator no longer affects tool belt abilties

Same with Quip, they broke the tool belt animations when they added new particle effects to the weapons. There’s a small work around for the grenade barrage skill if you have the grenadier trait equipped though.

A small hijack to this thread but holy crap, the issue of our cone attacks missing is beyond frustrating. Take P/P for example, that number 4 blowtorch skill misses for absolutely no reason; even if both parties are standing still. If it does manage to hit, it might miss twice (since it’s a three hit skill) and then you’ll lose a lot of DPS. However unlike the flamethrower’s auto-attack, you’ll have to wait 15/12 seconds only to miss again.

Peacemaker's Speargun

So I want to get this T3 cultural weapon for my engineer but the speargun is an exact duplicate of the rifle skin despite the fact that the actual speargun model shows up just fine in the PvP locker.

I believe this weapon is not alone and other spearguns are rifle duplicates. I could make a list.

Do you miss Guild Wars 1 ?

I miss the PvP.

PvP in GW2 is severely lacking and clearly unfinished. Lack of game modes, no observer mode, and poor class balance.

Its also perplexing why they chose to make a insignificant Halloween mini-game ‘costume brawl’ from the original game into a full feature which is what s/tPvP is today rather than GvG.

The casual PvP is also dull. I see WvW is an evolution to alliance battles but now it’s totally a zerg-fest that’s only fun for very brief periods of time. GW1 Alliance battles was fun because you could make a small team and go capture points and skirmish with other small teams but WvW you cannot even do that because you’ll most likely get facerolled by 20 other people who haven’t even loaded onto the screen yet.

Rabid BiS Itemization

The trinkets are something else entirely, the only way you can get the stats that match the token armour is to accidentally find them with an RNG mechanic or pay inflated prices on the Trading post because of said mechanic, this is not the case with any other set.

I absolutely loathe this RNG mechanic and I think it needs to be fixed. Anyone can easily put in a little work and run dungeons over a week or so to get them just like normal trinkets but you are gated for no real reason.

It needs to be a purchasable recipe from the vendor using dungeon tokens or karma.

Rabid gear

If you don’t want to spend gold, you can farm dungeon tokens in Honour of the Waves, Twilight Arbor, and Caudecus Manor for the weapons and armour. Also, you get the Orr armour from the karma vendor. They go for 42k per piece.

The trinkets however are a pain to get. As of right now, the only way to get rabid stats is through an RNG recipe drop from specific dungeon instances or buy them outright on the TP. The amulet is cheap but be prepared to spend a small fortune for the rings and earrings as they are currently 13g each due to the newness of the items.

Grenade’s raw damage and its ability to inflict vulnerability is unmatched. However, I recently switched to a power P/S build with piercing trait and sigil of fire because I didn’t want to get RSI.

Not as strong, but the AoE spam still it gets the job done.

“And will people please just shut the kitten up about vocal minoritys this and majoritys that. You dont have the numbers Anet has so you aint got a clue. Ur guessing and hoping your right.”

Xfire has successfully trailed numbers for all “western” mmos to date.

Are you familiar with the descriptive term “failcascade”?

If we want to take Xfire seriously, the current statistics show that despite the exponential increase in hours played during the launch of the patch, it decreased just as fast to where it was before.

Clearly the new gear grind did a spectacular job at retaining players.

Black dye on transmuted armour automatically dyes it to the default dye remover colour. All other dyes work normally.

Confirmed with both my engineer and mesmer.

While I agree that all points have been fleshed out in the thread, the closing comment seems like they are going to completely ignore that the thread even exists:

“Please refer to the message from our Studio Design Director, Chris Whiteside, for our response to concerns about this issue.”

Seriously? No response to if they are going to review the feedback? It just sounds to me like they are just going to go ahead with this and there’s nothing we can do about it.

Thoughts on Ascended Gear? [Merged threads]

This whole gear system is a bad move.

As mentioned NUMEROUS TIMES before:

No one asked for this aside from those voracious MMO hoppers that would probably just get bored of this new gear tier in a few months, flock to the forums to complain, and then pseudo-quit the game until the cycle is repeated again and again. Is this the road you really want to go down? Is this how you want to cater to your GW1 player base that were perfectly fine with having the same armour tier and weapon damage for 7 years?

Also, this game is not subscription based game; you don’t gain vast amounts of money by forcing people to grind days and months on end, you gain money by making interesting and fair content that make people want to use the gem store. But who would spend money on gems when you just pissed off your entire loyal playerbase on purpose. And let’s be frank here, you can get a cheaper deal on cheap Chinese gold who would give you a direct amount rather than suffer the highly unamusing gem to gold conversion rate.

This whole gear concept, which I really cannot comprehended why it exists, would additionally create inequality between players and foster a toxic PvE environment.

I remember in the development stage of GW2, the developers promised us a discrimination-free game where you can join pugs easily as the holy trinity of tank, DPS and healer is abolished. With this new gear system you know what will happen? “LF level 80 with full ascended +50 agony gear and level 30 FoTM ONLY. Whisper me.” It’s actually starting to happen right now with people requesting level 80s with full exotics, and funnily enough, happening to players that were guested for the event who were supposed to be enticed to buy and play the game.

Sure, casual PvE players can play the easy mode of FoTM but it’s ultimately unfair to both casual and hardcore people who like WvW and want to stay competitive in that environment. The GW1 development team preached fairness and skill over gear play rather than grind over skill.

While I am fortunate enough to have the time to play and a highly competent guild to play with, this whole thing makes me really uncomfortable. I don’t want to discriminate against people who don’t have enough time to play as me nor do I want people to feel that their hard earned gear they obtained through playing at a slow pace become obsolete and have to grind till their eyes bleed.

I would like to point out that If you don’t think this new gear is grindy, you have got to be heavy denial. The ingredients needed to make one infusion which fits into an ascended item slot is:

1 Eldritch Scroll
20 Mystic Coin
250 Karka Shells
100 T6 material

This is for one ‘fine’ blue infusion which would only need to be replaced in a few months time as masterwork, rare, exotic, and ascended infusions would be released. The price of T6 mats is a hot mess and overall it would cost an obscene amount of both time and money.

Lastly I want to say that PvP was what kept GW1 afloat all these years. Unfortunately ArenaNet now treats sPvP and WvW like an unwanted step-childs that has to live in their PvE silbing’s shadow. How about throwing money at the PvP development team for one month instead of PvE content that caters to fickle MMO locusts?

Yes, we super hardcore players know that the only mode of player progression is to grind an instance repeatedly for a chance to gain a statistical advantage over noob casuals. They and those PvP baddies deserve to get discriminated in PvE slaughtered in WvW.

Who cares about useless and trivial things like developing play skills and mastering content in an equal environment where your play skills determine the outcome?

You should really name shame the player here so that they will get banned.

Engineer's 'Tools' trait does not reduce tool belt recharge

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Xenubot.7039

After the recent patch, points in the tools trait line no longer affect tool belt recharge times. Critical damage increase from the trait still functions properly.

Resetting attributes and reallocating unfortunately does not fix the issue.

EDIT: Tested out the trait in both pvp and pve environments and in both cases, it does not work anymore.

Embark Beach 2.0 - Dungeon Edition

in Suggestions

Posted by: Xenubot.7039

Xenubot.7039

One of the problems with dungeons right now is how difficult it is to find a group because these instances are scattered across the map in locations where the dungeon level requirement does not match that particular region’s level (e.g. Twilight Arbor a level 50-55 dungeon in the level 1-15 sylvari starter area). This in conjunction with a lack of a server spanning LFG system makes finding groups and/or additional players take longer than it really should.

From the original Guild Wars, one of the updates which I thought was great was the addition of the embark beach outpost which linked all story missions into one location so PUG groups could be easily formed. The NPCs there were divided across all expansions and they could easily teleport parties to their destination. Unfortunately, this feature was implemented way too late in the game’s life for it to be extensively used by the playerbase.

So for Guild Wars 2, I think this feature would be a great addition to the game and make everything that much easier for everyone but it has to be implemented early for it to succeed.

My idea for this outpost would be a little sanctuary somewhere that could be easily accessed via asura gate from all capital cities. Instead of magical NPCs that mass teleports people to varied locations, there would be tuned asura gates which warps you straight into the dungeon and lets you warp straight out for situations where you lose a party member and need a replacement. Also, additional dungeon gear vendors could be added to this location for easy access.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that this outpost would be a great social hub too. End-game content is heavily reliant on communities to sustain it.

[Sea of Sorrows] Professor Portmatt's Lab bug

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Xenubot.7039

Xenubot.7039

So currently this puzzle is now impossible to do because the console used to open the gate and to access the calibration panels does not work. You literally cannot click the console because there is no target option what so ever.

You also cannot get the glass window to sheath the portal any more and destroying the lamps and letting the mini-golems repair it does nothing.

Is there a fix to this?
