Sevondly, top tip: right click your salvage tool and use the salvage all options there for salvaging where possible. Using that exclusively will guarantee never accidentally salvaging a precursor since exotic isnt in that menu.

The other day I did something dumb in game. On a wing and a prayer, I opened a support ticket with Anet in hopes they could fix it. Here is what I sent them:

Today I was ripping through salvaging all the rares I got from the LD leather farm (20+, nice haul). I accidentally salvaged Howl. I knew what it was, was excited when it dropped, but was between farm runs and was in a hurry getting rid of loot and just clicked on Howl before I could stop myself. sigh… If there’s nothing that can be done, I certainly understand. But, I sure was hoping maybe there was something you guys could do to help me get it back, like maybe a log you can look at to see I really did do something that dumb. Been wanting that for my Reaper main for a while, and… GAH! Thanks, guys..

I got this in response:

We are human and mistakes happen.
As a one time courtesy we’ve gone ahead and sent the Howl Warhorn to your account.
You should see the item the next time you log in.

Since I’ve been know to complain about Anet when they make decisions I disagree with, it’s only fair to point out when they go above and beyond. Which, in my opinion, is what they did here. So, folks at Anet, thanks very much for understanding that… things happen. I really appreciate it.

The wiki is amazing. It’s hard to imagine, for me, how someone has the time to play the game enough to know this stuff, AND have the gumption and fortitude to spend time editing it. Thanks tons to everyone who has had a hand in it, many of us would be very lost without your occasional guiding hand(s). (and, Gaile, I would like to see those numbers as well, out of curiosity if nothing else.)

And, now for the obligatory picking on a guildie. +1 to Ra for being right about something. AGAIN. (Don’t you ever get tired of being right???)

I don’t want to get into the rights and wrongs and whatnots of AFK farming, I just want to share this information with the community. I was suspended for 24 hours last week for “unauthorized use of third party software”. I was AFK farming with my reaper in MM and was NOT using anything except the reaper’s built-in abilities (no 3rd party software at all). Through a support ticket I asked Anet about the suspension, explained that I was not using 3rd party software and what I was doing with my reaper. I asked if that was why I was suspended. Today I got their response. Here it is in full:

Hello,

We thank you for your patience. While this isn’t an outright bannable offense, it’s best to be careful while AFKing on your Reaper as sometimes a false flag occurs. While I can’t guarantee or deny if this might happen again in the future it’s always best to be mindful of the Rule of Conduct and also the Breaches & Outcomes. (o ??? o)

As this is another thing ArenaNet promised with HoT and has failed to deliver (the list is growing), I think I’ll look into the legalities of getting a full refund for HoT and post my findings on this forum and Reddit. I know the the Consumer Rights Act was recently expanded to include online/digital goods, including games, and frankly I feel ripped off with my HoT purchase. As far as I’m aware, ArenaNet has a legal responsibility to provide the goods that were advertised (with regards to new legendaries, see the forum post “Hot New Legendary Weapons” where it says a full set of 16 will be released in HoT) and failing to do that should entitle people to their money back.

Honestly, the only thing that keeps this from meeting the legal definition of fraud is that they didn’t INTENTIONALLY (I want to believe, anyway) mislead us all with the marketing for HoT. But, just because something is legal doesn’t mean it’s right. Absolutely the last time I pre-purchase anything from Anet. The way I’m feeling now, it may the the last time I ever purchase anything from them at all.

I’m having the exact same problem. Other games, streaming, browsing, etc all work fine. GW2 client works fine for 5-15 mins, then the machine locks up completely and powering off is the only thing that works. Doesn’t matter if the game is full screen or windowed. This started for me, it seems, on Wednesday. Hard to justify joining a dungeon or fotm run when you’re just going to crash…

I can’t access the guild bank either. When I talk to the guild banker it says “Your guild hasn’t built any sort of storage yet. I’m sorry, but there’s nothing I can do for you.” Except I am in a guild with storage and have deposited and withdrawn items in the past. I’ve stood down, re-represented, logged out, rebooted. My guild leader can access the bank, I can’t.
