I usually ask in map chat for help. Normally there are quite a few players around to help, either because they need the skillpoint as well or because they are just nice people.

Nice guide you made there! I have a few things to add:
When defending as a Guardian I usually use staff because it has a bigger range and an AoE auto hit to grab mobs from hodgins. Also line of warding is nice.
The whole groub should take stunbreakers/stability to not get knocked down and killed as easily.

Gift of Mastery
Bloodstone Shard, Obsidian Shards, Gift of Battle (didn’t do a single JP for it) DONE
Missing: 2 Vistas and 2 POIs in WvW for map completion

Gift of Fortune
Clovers DONE
About 40% of the T6 materials and ectos done

Gift of the Juggernaut
Only missing a few Orichalcum Bars and 12 Molten Lodestones (less than 10 gold total)

The Collossus
NOPE but I realized that all the gold I have made for the other gifts is actually around 300-400G already, so making that much gold again to just buy seems doable right now. I will also not use the mystic toilet a single time.

Your top 10 favourite zones?

If I only consider the open world I would say:

1. Frostgorge Sound: With all the ship wrecks, the Kodan’s arctitecture is beautiful, the underwater region in the west is just awesome, I love it.
2. Sparkfly Fen: Such a diverese landscape! From cliffs, a beach, labs and whatnot, this area has it all and it just looks amazing.
3. Blazeridge Steppes: The corrupted zones and the normal ones are really well made!

Honorable Mentions go to Mount Maelstrom (Vulcano and Crucible of Eternity areas), Brisban Wilds (everything there) and Malchior’s Leap (those epic ruin structures).

Mystic Clover drop rate: 1 vs. 10

You should do the 1 Clover recipe. The variance for the 10 Clover recipe is higher, therefore it is way more of a gamble. I got unlucky on the 10 Clover recipe and ended up with 22 Clovers after 250 Ectoplasms used. Do not make the same mistake.

Cant get map completion due to WvW

It his funny how some WvW players complain that they have to do PvE to get map completion. I know those comments aren’t always meant serious and I see that being distracted from what you want to play (WvW in your case) and being forced to play something you do not like (PvE maps) if you want a legendary weapon, sucks.
But considering I got my PvE map completion from three afternoons of casual PvE, the two months I am waiting now on my WvW map completion seems a bit stupid. And I actually like WvW. I had no problems at all getting my badges of honor from actually doing WvW and joining our servers team speak community from time to time. It was really fun to be honest.
I play on Desolation, which is a Tier 1 EU WvW server. We have been red since forever now and are basically on hibernation now. The weird points system prevents of from dropping a tier although that actually seems to be the new goal of some of the bigger WvW guilds on our sever. Or at least so it seems to me. EU Tier 1 is seriously screwed up, I can tell you. All I need is Langor Gulch POI, the one vista in the blue keep and the vista and POI in the green keep. So far I have never seen those taken by our server and I am in WvW on a daylie basis right now (because as I said I actually grown to like it). I would love to just get the stupid map copletion done to be able to just enjoy WvW and play with whatever character I want, instead of sticking to my Guardian, which has 99% map completion , in case we get lucky and take a keep or that stupid Langor. Ninja capping and off hours were not an option so far, since most servers, especially on EB, are really active even at night and in the morning.
I hope the WvW team will implement the randomization of colors within a tier soon! It would help to get rid of all the non-WvW enthusiasts and also would make things more versatile. I have defended Anza a so many times, retook Speldan and Ogrewatch several times a day etc. but I would like to defend or take some other castles in different strategical positions too. This would solve so many problems.
As of now, WvW map completion is just stupid and luck/server/tier based. If anything it discourages me to play WvW and encourages me to just look out for stupid Vistas and POIs.

The Mass Berserker Mindset

And the game itself is designed about dps in many situations anyway. Basically, every time there are infinite adds (Hodgins’ path in AC is quite a good example about this…try doing that burrows without a good dps, yeah). Even when there aren’t, toughness can’t negate enough damage to be able to “tank” and even vitality isn’t helping much, cause healing skills don’t scale with vit (and scale pretty badly with healing power anyway).
So the only way to properly defend yourself is by dodging and using invulnerability…and you can do it with dps gear anyway.

The Juggernaut looks really great and fitting on your character. Nice work!

After my initial bad luck with clovers, I am continually getting closer to 77! Already got over 40 now. I should probably have used the 1 clover recipe right from the start instead of wasting 250 ectos on the large recipe and getting 20 clovers back.

Instead of drag and drop you can double click the items. That is all help I can give you. I would appreciate a “craft all” feature as well.

The only time when berserker gear becomes worse than a more defensive set is when the player using the ‘zerker gear getas downed often because he can’t compensate for the lack of defensive stats with his skill. Sadly this happens all the time in pugs.

Basically the best idea is to do what is most fun to you out of Karka farming, CoF, Orr and maybe a bit if Frostgorge mob slaying to mix it up and make it feel less like the grind it can be.

"Magic Find" Gear....Opinions?

As Meglobob already said, it is not worth it for the exotics and rares. But if you do a lot of Orr events for the tier 6 materials and Heavy Moldy Bags, it totally is. Also you drop more greens and blues to sell at TP or the NPC merchants. I do that quite a lot and have noticed a not so small difference in crafting material drops and also silver gain. I run around Orr with around +200% magic find from gear and food.

I am currently doing CoE around 3-6 times every day I hav time to play, so all paths on two toons.
It nets you a fair amount of charged cores, exctos from traded in rares, has way less elitist people going for it than CoF and also less noobs. The dungeon ist really easy once you know what to do. It can be a little tricky at the beginning but after 2 runs of each path you should be fine. There even is trash that you don’t skip because the loot is good.

Obtaining Tier 6 Fine Materials

Thanks for all the input!
Getting 3 random Tier 6 fine materials per Laurel seems a bit expensive. I did quite a bit of Shelter/Pent events with magic find gear and ripped the Heavy Moldy Bags. I got a fair amount of materials that way. So I will just add half an hour of Orr events into the everyday mix of dungeons, daylies and WvW.
I hope prices will drop when the SAB hype settles so I can at least buy some of the materials needed.

What would be a good way to obtain fine crafting materials of the 6th tier?

I would like to drop them rather than just farming the same thing over and over. Or at least I’d like to have a few different things I can do to get materials, just to mix things up a little. Anything that feels less like a grind and is still more efficient than just doing random stuff!

The most efficient way is probably to farm CoF and buy them from the TP.
Mystic Forge transmutation seemed okay but the T6 Dust has become really expensive now.
Are Orr events worth trying? Or are dungeon bags like the CoE ones good?

I am thankful for any advice!

It is really good to read that many casual players also think they are something better than the hardcore crowd because it is oftentimes the same the other way around.

For me it is okay for players to be not as good as others. Not everyone has a hardcore gaming background. As long as people in dungeons tell me upfront they are not as experienced with a dungeon or a specific path so I know I need to explain things. I do the same if I am new to a dungeon.
I find it annoying if you ask for “experienced players” because you want to do a quick dungeon run before lunch/bedtime/gf gets home etc. and a total newbie comes by and clearly has no clue what to do. But many players think they are so kitten pro and never do anything wrong nor would they ever need to take any advice.
So thumbs up for you guys who tell and admit they are not experienced gamers and make everyones gaming experience easier and more enjoyable that way!

I would have never started playing and even if I did I would have stopped by the end of october, when I took a break from GW2. I never came back to a P2P MMO before, only F2P games have that low entry barrier to allow for that.

AC Path 2 Boss

Yoji.5610

So yesterday after the patch I wanted to check out the new boss mechanic in AC path 2. After we defeated the more annoying spider queen and all the other trash, it was time for the boss fight.
After we realized, that we needed to drag oozes into the traps to remove the protecting boon from the boss, we managed to get a couple of hits in. After a while all traps were filled 100% but the boon was not removed again, no matter what we did. The traps just won’t do their thing boon removal thingy. We dragged the boss from trap to trap but it did not matter.
After maybe 30 minutes of “battle”, we decided that this does not work and the group disbanded.
So, were we doing something wrong or was it not working correctly? Is there something you need to do with the traps for them to start removing the boon?
