I’m sorry for snipping the entire txt, it saves space and also takes the I heard this from a guy who told me this down the pub last Tuesday night feel. If you know what I mean, and just in case you did not. I am not saying it did not happen like it was wrote.

How ever I know how smear campaigns work, you take a base truth and “report” for want of a better word. Thus you build up a case where the person, or in this case a minority of the population which is the GW2 community, is discredited so when they bring things to the table the rest of the majority of the GW2 population has a predisposition towards the minority.

The fact that the snippet has been circulated beyond this forum and has been posted on many other forums is well something that happened in history.

Now the act may have or orb hacking is not in denial, as other have shown a willingness to report to Anet and get the individuals themselves banned. But until small minded people who smear a population with the actions of the few need to step back and think.

The very fact that posting the snippet does exactly what you intend, and this I do directly accuse you of derailing the thread. There was constructive dialogue before your post, which could just as easily have been linked. But it was a direct copy and paste of someone else post, and not even have the decency to put it in quote marks.

As for the “If you are Gentlemen…” I just does not happen if there are no rules its everything goes. Or would you deny such a statement?

Whilst all solutions you write here have merit and on the face of it could work, however it would require trust first and foremost for any orb which has been taken by nefarious methods to be given back. A thing which is very unlikely to happen in the environment that is.

Another solution which is entirely in the hands of the players is not to go for the orbs. But alas we find ourselves back at the same problem of trust. No one trusts an opposition it is human nature, where there is a lack of trust a lack or respect is never far behind. The need for respect is never the less just as important as the need for trust.

All you have to see is the forum warriors, one call’s hacks and paint brushes the entire server. Another says they report all hacks when found, others deny such action dispite being on another server. The mind boggles really.

But down to the orbs themselves, they don’t win server matchs by themselves but they are a symbol, and should a symbol be taken away by nefarious methods that is what is making the blood boil. But an orb can only be handled by one person at a time, not an entire server..

And whilst orb hacking and the like are frowned upon, so is getting a paint brush and labelling an entire population on the action of a few upon the many.

The irony is a post such of this will go up in flames because of the very nature of the political aspect of the game and the culture than has taken root. Only a few will see the text for what it is, and only a few of the few will reply in kind.

Just a quick question, is using a catapult on the inside of a tower and firing it at the doors so the AoE splash hits the other side a valid tactic, cheese or an exploit?

But does it not have the same effect, as the system can’t load all the players at the same time. So doing a mass sally from a keep into a zerg will result in the same culling problem.

Every single time you ‘coordinate’ your way into stacking 40 people on the same inch of property, you are exploiting game mechanics.

So people are no longer allowed to run of a tower keep together?

What you all are missing is that the balance is more focused around sPvP then WvW wich makes some of these things an issue. Making aoe hitting unlimited people will screw this game up. There are alot better fixes to this, the 5 man portals is one.

Pray tell me how limiting the portal to 5 man only will help out with warriors healing unlimited people.

All the people calling for a nerf on the portal because of the issues with rendering have been licking too many windows.

You should be aware that this can occur in many other ways.

1) Speed buffs and large groups.

2) Mass portal on Mesmers

3) Mass exit of people from Keep / Tower.

So if you want to blame this all on the Mesmer then, you need to address the others.

Using the same idotic logic in other threads, ie limit or remove the Mesmer portal we can remove speed buffs, and remove the fort / tower exit.

Very special ideas, don’t you think.

So its the culling system, not the skill as the problem.

Please remove fort exits in WvW because when a lot of people run through them the game does not load up all players….

Oh, please nerf warrior healing, all other classes effect 5 people only, this is an unfair advantage to over other classes.

Oh, close down the servers to prevent night capping because X server does not have X coverage…

Siege Equipment Despawning

Vabbi is a low population server with some very well organised guilds on it.

Whiteside Ridge [And I only pick on this server because it has a higher population than Vabbi] are lower in the rankings as of the post in the sticky.

A case in point? or conjecture? I shall let you mull that one over.

NB. Whiteside, again was only picked out as population comparison as I know some very well organised guilds are on the server.

Yes both suggestion I would approve if I was the man to make the call. Both have a cost and time issues associated with them. But only with limitations and the natural derogation of equipment would need to be balanced along side the amount of supply in the world. How this could be achieved I confess that I do not know.

But on the flip.

Imagine if you will siege in hard to reach places without the aid of other siege. [I’m thinking just on the cliff outside homeland citadel, using trebs] The way to counter that would be by building siege yourself, assuming that you agree, we have permanent to semi permanent siege setup.

Now with the ability to repair said equipment would make them indestructible in the sense you would only have to pop in and out of you immunity zone provided by the citadel and constantly repair, supplies comming from the north. All the time destroying and counter siege attempted to be built. [Of course these would be deployed on the Garrison walls or there abouts, but the point is “easy to take out either by siege or aoe”]

Of course you would not be able to keep or hold cliffside keep due to the siege in these areas so as the attackers getting supply to build or repair their own counter siege becomes futile exercise. And the defenders win by pure attrition.

That may be very over analytical but with the proposals in this thread the scenario that I have just outlined will become a reality.

Again just to throw a bone at the other side of the debate. Having a cool down or supply limit usage to repair maybe a solution.

I understand the premise behind them despawning, if you are defending a keep you need to defend it. Ie you do go away and let the npc’s do the work for you. It is something that needs to be thought of, ie leave defenders.

You say your a guild, and not a pug zerg… or may be you have /are apart of a server alliance. Communication should therefore not be a major problem. If you want to hold and defend Woodhaven, have it coordinated. But I now digress.

As for your statement about week long server match ups, who do you think will win between a low server population with coordination or a high population running around like headless chickens?

If one team can fight better on a tactical level and strategic level then numbers matter naught, supply and the supply lines eventually win. Having permanent or semi-permanent siege in defence or offence takes away one vital aspect of RvR…

What to use the supply… On the siege to kill the attackers/defenders or on the walls or the gates to by time until reinforcements come.

What you suggest would devalue the need for supply…

However just to throw abone to the idea.

Now if you want a visible timer in the siege that is all well and good. But to balance it out it should have a mim activity time too.

The Mesmer problem - Defensive Cooldowns + Heavy Damage. One needs to go.

So if people say “Mesmer is fine, just a few tweaks”, it may be because they have a sense of all the classes, not because they “favour” their particular class.

I would tend to agree on a statement like this, if they were not solely focused on sPvP. Try getting the same amount of badges in RvR or farm Orr the same way another class can.

So these tweaks I see all the time is focused on sPvP and the skills are very very good in sPvP, but to call balance and nerf and tweaks around one aspect of the game is starting to bug me.

If the people are wanting “tweaks” I want something that will be good in RvR too, an not a chocolate fireguard either.

At bare minimum we should have SOMETHING to show an enemy is there, heck give us floating names if nothing else. That way we can at least see something!

Six months from now Juno the entire class will be balanced for sPvP and the rest of the game it will be buggered.

If you want to get rid of the MOA skill, please come up with something that would be useful in RvR and PvE.

And not a chocolate fireguard either.
